I hope this is ok to post as I'm not Jewish.
I so want to show my support to the Jewish communities in the UK at this terrible time, but sadly I'm not able to go to this.
I can't stop thinking about the hostages, & what Jewish people are going through the world over.
It's like the world has been turned on it's head & nothing makes sense.
I hope you know that many people are supporting you, & are heartbroken by recent events...

Trulywonderful · 21/10/2023 21:14

Thank you for sharing this. I may go along myself.

I think it's important to show solidarity and I hope loads of people turn up.

LemonyTicket · 22/10/2023 02:55

It's good if people go. It's so sad that people are ripping down the posters.

I felt ill watching some of the behaviour today in London. We don't feel safe. It didn't look like supporting Palestinians. It looked like a Nazi rally.

And that aside, I'm all for supporting people suffering in Gaza - but there were people with ISIS flags and more calling for Jihad and applauding.

Has the "progressive" left gone stark raving fucking mad?

Trulywonderful · 22/10/2023 02:57

Yes

AbsoluteYawns · 22/10/2023 07:57

@LemonyTicket so true and sad to see.

Lindos1 · 22/10/2023 08:39

I have felt a constant sick anxiety since the massacre, so I can't begin to imagine how you feel if you are Jewish, & especially if you have children.

The subsequent rallies, ripping down of posters, celeb open letter, issues at universities, BBC bias etc etc. It's all just devastating. It would never be tolerated against another 'minority' in society.

Again, as someone who isn't Jewish, I hope it's ok for me to mention that I found Douglas Murray's speech in the synagogue very good.

I finally gave up on the BBC a year ago due to bias & lies on so many different issues, & I've been listening to the Megyn Kelly daily podcast instead. She's US based, but has been so, so supportive of Jewish communities against a sea of bias in the media over the last two weeks...

I'm thinking of you all...

Maireas · 22/10/2023 10:04

I hope this goes well for you. I am also non Jewish but have been trying to challenge antisemitism on these threads, and elsewhere. I saw some offensive placards on display at the pro Palestinian rally, which did indicate the motivation of some attendees. You could not have had a clearer message. I would not have liked to have been on that tube train when the driver started that chant for the passengers. Stay safe.

Maireas · 22/10/2023 10:06

@Lindos1 - I felt that way about the ripping down of posters as well. That man writing "colonist" on a poster, across the face of a kidnapped 2 year old? What the hell is going on?

BlurredEdges · 22/10/2023 17:49

I didn't go today because I'm exhausted, been away from home for a week for.a funeral, got trapped by the floods, came home yesterday into the midst of the protestors in Paddington Station.

It was appalling. I managed 2 stops on the tube before i felt too scared and sick to continue. I got out and got a cab home, couldn't really afford it but it made me feel safer and more reassured.

The cab driver was a Turkish Muslim who hates hamas as much as I do. He said they are the same as isis as far as he's concerned.

I've never felt so unsafe in my own city.

Maireas · 22/10/2023 18:19

Dear lord, @BlurredEdges - that's just shocking. You should feel safe in your own city. I think it's up to us non Jews to be vigilant, to call out antisemitism and to make more of an effort to support our Jewish neighbours and colleagues. All that is needed for evil to prevail is for good people to do nothing.

etmoietmoietmoi · 22/10/2023 18:43

@BlurredEdges Flowers
That poster is relentless. Every bloody thread. But because she knows she can't do an explicit 'I hate the Jews' the only weapon she has in her arsenal is to bait and gaslight.

Maireas · 22/10/2023 18:51

I've just been on that thread. Just awful. Added my pennyworth.
She claims it's not typical of the protest?
Why didn't the other protesters object then?

I found myself on a tube yesterday with a big group of protestors, mainly women. I've never felt so scared. They are openly, virulently antisemitic marches.

Maireas · 22/10/2023 18:58

Right. I have just emailed my MP. I have expressed my horror at the blatant antisemitism on the streets of the UK and have asked her what the Labour Party intends to do, and their proposed next steps.

etmoietmoietmoi · 22/10/2023 19:00

An amazing turnout today! And unlike other "gatherings" recently it was peaceful - think there was an arrest or two but not anyone who was there to ask for our hostages to be returned...
200 names read out..the list went on..and on..and on...really made the enormity sink in...
Michael Gove spoke so well..
