What is your largest ever premium bond win?

Just that. I hold the full whack plus extra for my kids and never win more than a few 100 pounds.

Interested to hear from others and whether I should shift my cash!

You don't think premium bonds are a good investment, but you're happy to waste money on lottery tickets? OK... 🙃

I’m not considering lotto as an investment. I mean it’s all risk i suppose, risk of me losing all the money spent on lotto is close to 100%, risk of investment in PB failing to keep pace with inflation and/or giving much lower returns than whatever the best interest savings account is is high, but there’s an outside chance it will win a decent return. As long as people understand the risks it’s all fine. Obviously people buying lottery tickets are aware of the risks, I’m not sure people buying PB always understand that they’re likely to do better elsewhere and the effect inflation will have over time.

I won £25 once but I’m pretty sure I only have 1 premium bond, bought for me as a baby so that sounds about right

Wow. Lucky sister.

I know. I was delighted for her, she's a wonderful sister.

£1,000 on FH

We report winnings within the wider family (and hear about in-laws’ in-laws too). Over a 5 year period I think nearly everyone with FH (or I suspect has FH based on winning regularity) has won £1,000 at some point.

Lulumush · 29/09/2025 22:09

I live in hope then!! 🙏

Mother, 10k, 19 years ago.

electronicrandomindicatorequipment · 29/09/2025 22:26

I've won once and once only and it was £100. My sibling holds the same amount as me and wins about three times each month.

I know it's literally luck of the draw, but God it annoys the crap out of me each month.

Nellieinthebarn · 29/09/2025 22:37

Most I've had at once is £1000, only a few 25s and 50s other than that. I like the thought that any month, I might be an instant millionaire.

2ndtimefinances · 29/09/2025 22:37

My partner got £450 on full holdings last month & he wins most months
I have £8 k & the most I have won is £150, I probably win 50% of the time & it works out about 4.5% ish

GoldPoster · 29/09/2025 22:40

My husband actually won £1,000 pounds. My highest individual was £100. I get the average % return on the full holding. I read that only 1% people win £1,000 so the chances of a big win aren’t very good.

Quebeccles · 29/09/2025 22:45

DH won £10,000 once.

Me - never more than two lots of £100 in the same draw.

Chasingsquirrels · 29/09/2025 22:52

£5,000 a few years ago.
My dad then won £10,000 the next month!

Nourishinghandcream · 29/09/2025 23:00

Largest monthly win was around £600 (I think🤔).

Family member won £10k last month.

ronnip · 30/09/2025 08:58

I have never won. I have around £1000 in it

ExitPursuedByABare · 30/09/2025 09:00

£500 several years ago. I win smaller amounts most months. I love my bonds.

Boutonnière · 30/09/2025 09:13

£100. Many decades ago, pre online, my mother phoned me up to say there was a letter for me - I had left some official things at my parents’ address, so I asked her to open it. She shrieked and said I had won £5000 on the PBs. Much joy, I was buying my first flat at the time and had virtually nothing left to furnish it. Had a few moments of planning what I’d spend it on then she called me back and said she’d put her glasses on and it was £50.00.

I’d have been so happy with the £50, but now mourned my non existent missing £4950 !

Chemenger · 30/09/2025 09:18

I win pretty much every month, maximum so far £1000.

Lennonjingles · 30/09/2025 09:19

DH won £5,000 3 months ago, he has £40,000 holdings, did have full but after a few months with minimal winnings he took out £10,000 to put in ISA for guaranteed interest. The most I’ve won is £300, but overall in 5 years I’m around 3.5% in winnings.

notapizzaeater · 30/09/2025 09:49

Many years ago I won £500 with a holding of £500 !

LieborCookin · 30/09/2025 13:47

200 on about 6 k

ApolloandDaphne · 30/09/2025 16:51

10k in January this year. It was amazing. I reinvested it in more bonds.

MrsVinceVega · 01/10/2025 09:08

I'm going to win a million this month.

doodles55 · 01/10/2025 15:34

I won £1000 a few years ago
