Hiya. I’m due to start IVF in March and just wanted to find some people who were going through the same so we can support/ advise eachother! I’m 32 and have been trying to get pregnant for 8 years now and just wanted to meet some people in the same boat!

@Quaver9 they are putting me on the highest dose of Ovaleap as my AMH is low so dreading the side effects!

@Banksl92 I think they thought I was definitely going to end up with it! I had 36 follicles responding at one point even on standard dosage. I was in quite a lot of discomfort by the end of the stims too!
Apart from being tender for a few days I was fine and even got okayed for a fresh transfer so fingers crossed you’ll be ok too!
I had lots of protein, electrolytes etc to help! They also started me on Cabergoline after collection too x

Glad yours went well! Yes I am worried about the side effects ie the bloating etc and just hoping I don't get OHSS so I can have a fresh transfer! X

@Twofromanotherkind quality over quantity! Hopefully won’t be too uncomfortable if the amount of follicles is low but the ones you do have respond nicely! X

captainsmal · 05/03/2025 20:30

@Quaver9 @Banksl92 yes very true! I guess they’re not worried about me. I don’t know how many follicles I have normally but amh is 18.5 which is sort of lower end of average for 33 year old. The only thing is when I was a teenager got diagnosed with pcos! As I was irregular, had acne, had some cysts on scans etc. But then found out last year (so over ten years later) I don’t actually have it apparently! So I’m a bit like okay one of these drs was wrong and hopefully it’s the one from years ago not the one last year so said I don’t have it anymore 🫤 I’m also hoping for a fresh transfer 🤞🏻 they’ll confirm on EC day with the progesterone levels apparently but they said I probably can have one. Been chugging electrolytes etc for a good month even before stims started so I hope I’m helping lower the chances a lot lol

Quaver9 · 05/03/2025 20:30

@Banksl92 best of luck - lots of rest, eating well and hydration hydration hydration!

Twofromanotherkind · 05/03/2025 20:31

Does having electrolytes help reduce the chances of OHSS then?

Quaver9 · 05/03/2025 20:35

@Twofromanotherkind yes helps with fluid balance and reducing bloating. Too much of just water alone can worsen imbalances so I had half an electrolyte in the morning with water and same again evening, then just water through the day. They say protein and salty food and coconut water also good x

Twofromanotherkind · 05/03/2025 20:36

@Quaver9 do you just use electrolyte tablets?

Quaver9 · 05/03/2025 20:50

@Twofromanotherkind yeah just these from the supermarket:

@twofromanotherkind i am on ovuleap too but 300. Whats your dose?

Well done to those who got theough EC. Praying for good fertilisation rates for you all!

Twofromanotherkind · 05/03/2025 21:19

@Timetotryagain I'll be on 900

Timetotryagain · 05/03/2025 21:30

@twofromanotherkind oh wow! Now i am wondering if mine will be too low! But i guess they have picked the doses based on individual circumstances etc!

Twofromanotherkind · 05/03/2025 21:30

@Timetotryagain yeah my AMH is low for my age so I need to max doses to maximise my chances.

Quaver9 · 05/03/2025 21:34

@Timetotryagain i was on 150 and got 19 eggs, I think it’s just really dependent on your amh etc. I’m 38 too x

Timetotryagain · 05/03/2025 21:37

Oh wow thats amazing!!!! @Quaver9

My amh is 16 and my afc is 22 so pretty middle range i think

Quaver9 · 05/03/2025 21:39

@Timetotryagain I didn’t end up with 19 mind 😂 one fresh transfer and 4 frozen.
wishing you lots of luck for your collection 🤞

Timetotryagain · 05/03/2025 21:43

@Quaver9 5 embroys is pretty amazing though :D
when is your test date?
Thank you 💜💜

@twofromanotherkind they seem like good numbers for you too 🙏🙏🙏

Quaver9 · 05/03/2025 21:48

@Timetotryagain OTD is tomorrow and I’m testing positive already but I’ve had some bright red in my CM and this is how all my previous losses have started so I’m not overly hopeful about progression 😔

Timetotryagain · 05/03/2025 21:50

@quaver9 keeping everything crossed for you 💜💜 have you had recurrent miscarriage testing in the past?

Quaver9 · 05/03/2025 22:20

@Timetotryagain thank you xYes we’ve had most tests and all ok, also because I’ve had x2 ectopics a mc and chemical the consultant thinks main issue is tube and bad luck. We haven’t had the NK test though so when I next speak to consultant I’ll go through other options/tests then

captainsmal · 05/03/2025 22:50

@Twofromanotherkind I’m having lucozade sports, coconut water, Smart Water (has electrolytes in that brand) and the electrolyte tablets as mine. At the moment doing 1l of electrolyte a day and 2l of plain water. So I’ll mix and match a bit depending what I fancy for example today I had a lucozade on the way to work, smart water during the first half of work then swapped to plain water for the rest of the day 🤞🏻 yesterday I went to the cinema and drunk a smart water during the film, had plain water/squash throughout the day then had an electrolyte tablet in a glass of water in the evening. Oh I’ve also been taking my paracetamol (for my fibro/EDS) as the soluble ones in a glass of water because that helps get me to the 2l without even trying lol

a day or two before EC and afterwards I’ll probably try and go more electrolytes less water 😊

captainsmal · 05/03/2025 22:56

Oh also forgot to mention yes I got told by the doctor lots of protein, I’m trying to do at least 60g a day which is easier than it sounds tbh cos I’ve just been getting those protein yoghurts and they have 25g so really a good sandwich (like chicken or something) at work plus a yoghurt and that’s almost it for the day!

Have to say though apart from the water/electrolytes/protein, I’ve not really done much else with my diet or been the healthiest. I’ve given up all the red bulls etc I used to drink a few months ago and gone down to 1 coffee a day then swap to decaf, and cut out fizzy drinks except maybe a little treat once or twice a month or something, but apart from that I’m still snacking and have a massive sweet tooth so still having cake/chocolate etc! Definitely not going overboard with all the diet stuff as I think it’s stressful enough this process without worrying myself about too much lol. Hopefully I’ve done enough 🤞🏻🤞🏻

Quaver9 · 06/03/2025 06:06

@captainsmal I didn’t start the electrolytes until after EC but yeah massive sweet tooth here too and definitely didn’t stress too much about food, we definitely need treats going through all this!
