Hi all ☺️

I have had an IVF round in November and had a freeze all cycle. I have had a meeting with the consultant this morning and will be doing a FET in late December/early Jan.

Please join this thread if you are on a similar timescale πŸ’«

@Ginny91 that timing is rubbish! Maybe test today so you sort of know? I don’t think I would tell them at interview, my thought process is that I wouldn’t tell work I was trying for a baby and might possibly be on mat leave?! Obviously it’s completely your decision and you know your work stream etc, have you already got a working relationship with this company or is it brand new? Also when I was pregnant with my son I was poorly for first 12 weeks but felt amazing from then,so late summer into September for an October birth u might be absolutely glowing! Good luck for the interview 🀞 xx

Thanks @Eagerlywaiting1990 yeah good shout, I might just gently say I don't want to talk about it xx

And @Cosyseason1234 I know I regret saying anything really πŸ˜…its a new company so I absolutely didn't need to I just panicked! I think I just hate committing and then pulling out so just felt compelled to be as clear as possible. Also love the image of glowing in September thank you for that!! But its a very physical job, I know I couldn't do it if everything does work out.. well at least not without a lot of support.

It is pretty tempting to test in the morning

Cosyseason1234 · 05/02/2025 12:35

@Ginny91 i don’t blame you,I’m a massive oversharer and it’s hard to keep quiet when your going through this massive thing!

I’ve just been to pick up some meds and the nurse gave me a hug bless her ❀️ obviously I cried again 🀣 they don’t do hcg blood tests so I’ll be blissfully ignorant of what’s going on until 6-7 weeks now xx

@Cosyseason1234 stay strong xx
@Ginny91 I wouldn't tell them during the interview...x I am 100% convinced that they wont be super eager to hire someone who will probably be on maternity leave soon!
@Mseddy I really feel for you, sending you hugs...x

Mseddy · 05/02/2025 14:06

I'm home! πŸŽ‰ Still feeling rough, and battling between the absolute pain of eating, but the awful nausea I'm getting when I'm hungry. Could be the illness but could be my little pea letting me know they've had enough of this 3 day fast and want some scran! So I'm forcing food down.

@Ginny91 I know what you mean about oversharing. I've told pretty much everyone at work, which means people will ask pre scan if I'm pregnant or not when I go back to work and that's just a scary thought to say yes I am before I've seen that heartbeat. So tough.

Cosyseason1234 · 05/02/2025 14:12

@Mseddy so pleased you are ok and out! I feel exactly the same as you about people knowing,a lot of people know about the ivf but I said we were taking a break until March to take the pressure off! I’ve just told people that I’d lean on for support if it doesn’t work out xx

is anyone else on meds until 12 weeks? I thought it would be until 8 weeks but clinic confirmed that it’s 12.

OP posts:
Elena3 · 05/02/2025 14:20

@Cosyseason1234 I am on meds until 12 weeks too! Hating the pessaries, but at least it gives me some reassurance because progesterone will help / can help prevent miscarriages apparently x

Cosyseason1234 · 05/02/2025 14:32

@Elena3 same I think it’s the progesterone making me so emotional as well! The clinic want hundreds of pounds for the rest of meds πŸ€¦πŸ»β€β™€οΈ I’m going to beg my GP for a prescription and if not get a prescription from the clinic and get them via asda, they don’t profit from infertility meds as an FYI for anyone! Clinic charge Β£33 for 15 cyclogest and Asda charge Β£12 xx

OP posts:
Elena3 · 05/02/2025 14:50

@Cosyseason1234 This is scarily expensive, considering you will need lots of those until 12 weeks! Hopefully your GP will be understanding and sympathetic!x

cleggrickman · 05/02/2025 14:51

Yes I'm on meds until 12 weeks too. They will start reducing the progesterone at about 10 weeks my nurse said. Meds are going to be pricey however my satellite clinic is an NHS one so still cheaper. I did ask Asda about lubion injections the other day as I heard they were not for profit so wondered if they were cheaper than my clinic and they wasn't. Β£8 at Asda and Β£6.50 and the clinic. Still going to be pricey but worth it!

Ginny91 · 05/02/2025 14:56

@Mseddy hooray that you're out! Hope you can recover quickly at home now.
And yeah i've held it back wayyy more than the last times I was going in, now only a few very close friends know that I'm in the tww, everyone else that did know I'm trying, I'm being very vague about it all..

@Cosyseason1234 yes will be on 12 weeks if +ve, but I didnt realise that meant the patches too which I'm bummed about. My clinic is also v expensive for the drugs so I didn't know trying to get them from somewhere else could be an option!! Let us know if you have any joy with your GP πŸ™

Cosyseason1234 · 05/02/2025 15:51

The medical secretary was like a rude bulldog and said no chance πŸ€¦πŸ»β€β™€οΈ I can’t get an appointment with my actual GP for weeks so going to try my luck with another doctor and call in the morning. Had a little cry when the med sec was rude, thought I really do not want to pay hundreds of pounds for a drug when so many people are getting so much from the NHS when they absolutely don’t deserve it!

Ladies I can't understand why you're having to pay for the medication. Was your ivf round/fet done privately? Xx

Yes this is the case for me. My NHS round was successful 8.5 years ago with my daughter so now have to pay for all treatment and meds x

Cosyseason1234 · 05/02/2025 17:05

@cleggrickman have you got a 2016 baby too?

OP posts:
Mseddy · 05/02/2025 17:34

So far for this FET and enough drugs to get me to OTD we've paid Β£4125. I think we will be near 5 grand by the time we get to 12 weeks if this little one sticks around! We paid for the two rounds for my DD as well because I was above the 30 BMI limit and ozempic didn't exist back then πŸ˜‚ but we only would have got one free NHS round and she was from our second round so we would have had to have paid anyway. Hate to calculate how much we've spent on IVF these last 5 years, but my DD is absolutely worth every penny 10 times over and I hope giving her a sibling will be too :)

Eagerlywaiting1990 · 05/02/2025 17:45

@Mseddy You're so right xx

cleggrickman · 05/02/2025 18:18

@Cosyseason1234 feb 2017 baby. Conceived in 2016 though x

Purpleflowers17 · 05/02/2025 18:33

@Ginny91 I hope it goes well either way. I would just go with the flow personally try not to overthink it. Can you pull out if you get the project?

@Cosyseason1234 really good shout on the meds. It’s 12 weeks if I get a positive. I got my Lubion from Asda from TWW so much cheaper and stork charge a fortune for delivery! That’s who my clinic use. Mine was Β£8 at Asda much cheaper than the clinic. Bought the needles on Medisave.

I think I may have overdone it at work today! Now gratefully relaxing, we are due to go out with family on Saturday for most the day. Not sure will survive a full day & night out, and DH doesn’t get it πŸ˜‚ typical man.

@Mseddy so happy to hear your home you are a warrior. ⭐️

Cosyseason1234 · 05/02/2025 18:50

@cleggrickman 8 year old babies and hopefully 2025 babies πŸ₯Ήβ€οΈ

@Mseddy you are 100% right! They are worth every penny. I also think a lot of people spend 10k on summer holidays/interest on car finance so πŸ˜‚

@Purpleflowers17 take it easy at work this is a stressful time! Completely get why you don’t want to socialise this weekend. Do you mind me asking how much your clinic charged for the private prescription? I’ve asked for a quote from mine for just the prescription. Xx

Hey everyone.

Glad I'm not the only oversharer - I honestly NEVER have secrets from anyone, I'm an open book. MN is the only thing keeping me sane as no one knows I'm on the tww right now. Have managed to make those who know about my IVF think I'm further behind than I am with scan delays etc.

My mum thinks I have 2 in the freezer. She's very excited bless her, and dont think she realises that statistically it's against me. Keeps banging on about wouldn't it be lovely if it was twins etc... have to keep reminding her I'm unlikely to even get 1 from this round. Was quite gutted to only get 2 blasts overall.

The panic is real now, I also barely slept last night. Feel like I'm creeping closer towards a BFN and then our world collapsing.

I know it's rare to be so lucky first time. My friend was lucky first time with her DD and is now pregnant first time with no.2

Glad you are home @Mseddy.

Sorry everyone has to pay so much for drugs. I'm NHS but pretty sure we'll end up paying for a at least one round eventually.

Completely agree this whole process makes me so bitter which I hate about myself but can’t help feeling πŸ˜” I paid clinic Β£215 yesterday for cyclogest pessaries and estrogen tablets

Cosyseason1234 · 05/02/2025 20:13

don’t feel bad at all @MS2692 ,completely ok to be very grateful for IVF but upset about the financial side. In my job I see the same people coming in with alcohol/drug abuse effects time and time again and they never get a bill 🀣

@OneWaryCat im so sorry your feeling like this and it’s completely normal, the wait to test mentally pushed me more than any other time during this journey. I hope you can find some peace tonight and get a good rest after your rubbish sleep last night ❀️ xx

OP posts:
Purpleflowers17 · 05/02/2025 20:16

@Cosyseason1234 i only had to pay for 35 Lubion at Asda was Β£280 this time. Through the clinic was Β£385.

The pessaries are about Β£30 a box for 15 so about Β£2 per one through the clinic.

Eagerlywaiting1990 · 05/02/2025 20:44

@OneWaryCat you're not alone. I have grieved the loss of my embryo many many times despite not having any proof that it hasn't worked. I think it's just the protective layers we wear to keep ourselves sane. My last embryo didn't implant and I was absolutely sure it would....I hope feeling this way is easier to recover from if it doesn't work xx
