IVF babies due Summer 2025

Hi - I wondered if anyone else had recently found out they were pregnant after IVF or loss? I am 4w6d today, waiting on some beta blood tests and have my first scan in just under 3 weeks.

We are very lucky to have a daughter who is 3 born from IVF and have been trying for a sibling for 2 years.

Had forgotten how utterly terrifying and anxiety-inducing (or as I also like to call it, 'knicker-watch') this first part was so if anyone else is in the same boat and wants to swap stories then that would be lovely.

So glad you are ok @Feliciacat and everything is fine x I think week 5 and 6 are been crazy weeks for everyone 😃I hope we all make with good ending.

wateringcanface · 18/11/2024 09:34

1 week away till scan week (I think for us all?) 🎉

This is the most nerve-wracking part for me, I have such a fear of a MMC, I know the risk of that will still be there after that, but less likely once a heartbeat has been identified.

Also, planning to watch Joy on Friday or Sat night? it's on Netflix a film about the scientists who created IVF. Looks good!

loulamay · 18/11/2024 11:30

Totally with you @wateringcanface and thank goodness for other people that understand. The MMC risk is so terrifying and another week to go for a scan seems eternal. I feel like my symptoms have gone today too. Was just saying to my husband that it is awful that we can't feel like we can celebrate anything yet - and I don't think I'll even begin to relax until the second trimester, if we get there.

Will definitely be watching Joy on Netflix! I cried at the trailer alone 😂

Omg thanks for the film recommendation! Love this thread and the people on it; you’re all awesome!

PsychologyGeek · 20/11/2024 11:34

How is everyone doing? Sadly my scan isn’t until the 4th, so two excruciating weeks left to go…

The last couple days have been having some cramps, pain in my side and some weird uncomfortable stretching (which might be round ligament pain according to Google, but maybe a bit early from that..) Obviously assuming the worst with any twinge thanks to my anxious brain. Nausea seems to have gone though.

I also did a Clearblue Digital on Mon (at 4w5d) and it came up at Pregnant 3+. Maybe seems a bit early? Has anyone else ones of those?

Hope everyone is holding up ok!

Feliciacat · 20/11/2024 13:37

3+ weeks is the max result you can get and indicates that you have the hCG of someone at 5+ weeks. So you’re doing great! I was only testing as 2-3 weeks (4-5 weeks) at 4w5d. I’m so pleased for you and I hope it continues to go well.

Jcm1985 · 20/11/2024 14:24

My scan is a week tomorrow and am officially losing my mind as of today! It’s so hard, I’ve barely any symptoms and still don’t feel like I am pregnant. It’s going to be a v long week ahead!

loulamay · 20/11/2024 14:46

My scan is on Monday. Absolutely bricking it. I have been having some nausea though, but not really that much else - or anything else just comes and goes sporadically. Although I did read that the Prednisolone I'm on can mask symptoms. Who knows - feel like I'm just clutching at straws and wish I could fast forward the weekend.

Good news on the Clearblue @PsychologyGeek !

Nic28j · 20/11/2024 15:10

@Jcm1985 my scan is the same day as yours. I am terrified as well, I keep thinking of every possible scenario.
I had my 3+ on clearblue at 5w2d so that was reassuring but I haven’t tested again since.
I am 6w2d today and have been hit by nausea and vomiting big time. I have been sick first thing the last 2 mornings, I was sick after dinner last night and again at lunch time today. I can only describe it as like feeling hungover sick all the time. I have real food aversions and just don’t really fancy anything but know I must keep eating. I hate to complain as we have wanted this for so long, but it is tough! Equally if I woke up and suddenly it was gone I would panic.

wateringcanface · 20/11/2024 15:51

Im 6 days away from my scan. I can't help but feel pessimistic, I'm hardly feeling anything, I went out today for a dog walk, shopping, then dinner and when walking I did have this awful sharp pain in my pelvis, bad enough for me to tell my friend that I want to sit down ASAP as it's uncomfortable to walk. No idea if that is good or bad, it matches the description of round ligament pain, I think it was just made worse by the cold (I was freezing). But I am having little in the way of the more typical symptoms. Definitely no food aversions as I tucked into a very indulgent 3 course meal today.

I am both sorry and pleased for you at the same time @Nic28j and @loulamay about the nausea and feeling/being sick 😂

@PsychologyGeek you seem in a similar boat to me, I am having no nausea or anything, but a few twinges and little pains, I am thinking as long as it's not accompanied by fresh blood, and it's not severe, then we are okay. I think if it was losing a pregnancy type cramping, as it it would be your lining expelling it would feel like very intense period pains and cramps, I think twinges, sharp pain, pulling etc suggests more ligament type pain and things moving around/stretching instead. - Thats what I'm telling myself anyway!

Nic28j · 20/11/2024 17:25

@wateringcanface I have had quite a few random pains as well, ranging from minor to quite sharp, and some even right under my belly button so quite central. I read up on round ligament pain as I thought it was way too early but apparently it can happen as early as 5 weeks so might be completely normal. Lots of people don’t have any symptoms and have completely healthy pregnancies.

loulamay · 20/11/2024 18:22

That sounds like lightning crotch @wateringcanface - although I think it's more common later on.

I had round ligament pain with my daughter from 7 weeks onwards!

I just read up on missed miscarriage and it's only up to about 5% of pregnancies that it happens in - I feel like I read so many stories about it so I thought it would be more. The number has made me feel a bit better because I think it's my biggest fear. As my husband tells me, we have had NO signs of obvious miscarriage and so we need to stay positive - god love him. He's right though. Trying my absolute best to just keep calm!

Also I just wanted to thank you all for the solidarity and shared stories/worry. It's so helpful and I'm so grateful x

Nic28j · 20/11/2024 18:35

@loulamay You are so right - we read so many stories that it becomes normalised but really there is a much higher chance of everything going well. It’s hard to say ‘stay positive’ and not sound patronising but we really should.

I’ve also found it so helpful to share so thank you all x

PsychologyGeek · 20/11/2024 18:39

Thanks for the reassurance about the Clear Blue - finding it hard not to overthink every little thing!

Not long for you @loulamay (although I know it never feels that way!). Have you got weekend plans to try and distract yourself/make the time go a bit quicker?

@Nic28j and @wateringcanface - it feels a bit more reassuring to hear that you’re both having the ligament pain/twinges type symptoms as well. It’s so weird that I’m wishing my nausea to reappear!

Has everyone moved from conception to pregnancy supplements yet? I am just finishing off my Ovum and need to get some. Does anyone have any recs or just supermarket ones?

Nic28j · 20/11/2024 20:03

@PsychologyGeek I asked my clinic this when I reported my result and they recommended Pregnacare Max so I started them - not going to lie they are awful to take, it’s 3 a day (2 tablets and 1 capsule) with a meal, but as they were recommended I thought I should take them. Hope that helps x

Jcm1985 · 21/11/2024 06:52

@PsychologyGeek I’m on the Wild Nutrition pregnancy and new mother ones. There’s 3 a day and a bit of an aftertaste so maybe not great if you’re feeling nauseous but they came highly recommended.

@Nic28j we’re scan buddies! Still seems so far away. Have asked my clinic to let me know if there are any cancellations earlier in the week as even a couple of days earlier would help with my anxiety. Will be 7 weeks on the Tues so fingers crossed they can get me in a little earlier!

loulamay · 21/11/2024 07:56

@PsychologyGeek I hate taking tablets so I just got these gummies from Amazon: https://www.amazon.co.uk/dp/B098F621GJ?ref=ppx_yo2ov_dt_b_fed_asin_title&th=1

But I also take a L-Methylfolate tablet separately because I can be a bit anaemic.

They saw the gestational sac and the yolk yesterday. No embryo but they said it was too early at 5w4d to see. However, I started bleeding an hour after that scan.

Had to eventually go to A&E for blood loss last night. The blood loss slowed after 7 hours and I’m back home now. My blood count is fine. There’s nothing they can do gynaecology wise at this point. They’re going to move my viability scan on 4th Dec to 27th Nov. But it will be an appointment to check I’ve cleared the tissue rather than to check how the embryo is growing. I’ve had a miscarriage unfortunately and just need to wait for the bleeding to stop.

Im leaving this thread for obvious reasons but I wish you all success and happiness.

wateringcanface · 21/11/2024 09:33

Thanks for posting the supplements, I will look into ordering some, I've just been taking vit d and folic acid.

Last night, my pains got quite bad, I stood up from the settee to walk to the kitchen and could barely stand up straight, it ended up having to sit on the hall floor. The pain passed quite quickly, but it knocked me sick for a moment. It does seem like round ligament pain, as it says that is triggered from movement, especially sitting to standing but seems odd it would be so intense this early on. - It has made me consider the possibility it is twins, but the chances of that are very low, they transferred a poor-quality embryo and a morula, the chances of both sticking are only 5% (I also don't have other symptoms apart from weeing a lot, which makes me think twins are unlikely)

Did anyone else transfer 2?

wateringcanface · 21/11/2024 10:01

@Feliciacat

I am so sorry, I did not see your post, I did not mean to skirt past it. I am so sorry to hear this. I have nothing to say to make this better. I just hope you get to focus on looking after yourself and having a relaxing, self-indulgent Christmas, and I wish you all the luck in the future with your next steps xx

Nic28j · 21/11/2024 11:05

@Feliciacat I’m so sorry, sending you love and best wishes x

PsychologyGeek · 21/11/2024 12:28

Oh @Feliciacat, I am so so sorry. There are no words to make this better. Sending you so much love. Look after and be kind to yourself.

loulamay · 21/11/2024 14:34

@Feliciacat if you're still reading then I'm so sorry - this journey is so incredibly cruel. Sending you love and care xx

@wateringcanface we just transferred one. That was mainly due to my age and the risks of multiple births. The pain you're describing sounds awful you poor thing! Have you mentioned it to your clinic? x
