Hi - I wondered if anyone else had recently found out they were pregnant after IVF or loss? I am 4w6d today, waiting on some beta blood tests and have my first scan in just under 3 weeks.

We are very lucky to have a daughter who is 3 born from IVF and have been trying for a sibling for 2 years.

Had forgotten how utterly terrifying and anxiety-inducing (or as I also like to call it, 'knicker-watch') this first part was so if anyone else is in the same boat and wants to swap stories then that would be lovely.

Oh wow congrats @Feliciacat so pleased to hear your lovely news!

i have been so so anxious these last couple of weeks, leading up to scans is just the worst. Had my 20 week this morning (at 19+6) and everything looking ok. We are having a little girl 🥰

Feliciacat · 21/02/2025 10:41

Aww congrats on your little girl @Jcm1985! How exciting! Lots of people who’ve had ivf get girls it seems. I’d love a girl and so would DH. We would be very glad for a boy too of course but I think it’s normal to hope slightly for one over the other (taboo though that is).

Good luck for your 20 week scan @wateringcanface!

loulamay · 22/02/2025 07:43

Welcome back @Feliciacat and what awesome news! So happy to hear it.

@Jcm1985 huge congrats!
@wateringcanface hope you can stay sane in the run-up to the scan. I agree that it's just such an anxious time!

I had my 20-week scan on Wednesday and everything looked perfect. We were in slight shock really - after all the years of IVF and the issues with this pregnancy earlier on, it seemed so strange just to be walking out of there with everyone saying 'it all looks good'. I checked twice that I wasn't supposed to have some kind of follow-up with a consultant because I'm just so used to bad news... I'm sure it will all be comical one day!

The great news is that my placenta this time is playing ball - last time I had Vasa Previa which is pretty scary and we were on high alert towards the end of the pregnancy but this time all looks good so the next scan is not for another 8 weeks!

I have plenty more appointments to keep me busy though - whooping cough vaccine next week, follow-up fetal echo in 2 weeks, midwife and then the dreaded glucose test. Have you all been booked in for that? It might just be because I'm older, can't remember. If you have, take a book or something to do because they make you sit there for hours!

Hi girls has anyone got really bad headaches after stopping progesterone? It's only been 6 days since I stopped but my headaches are constant

PinaColadaJ · 28/02/2025 15:01

Hi @Clocloxx, I didn’t get any headaches after stopping progesterone pessaries (utrogestan) but I always felt like the artificial hormones messed with me a bit - it was a relief to stop!

CaffeineAndCrochet · 28/02/2025 17:13

I didn't get headaches, but I was exhausted and very irritable for about a week while stopping.

How is everyone doing?

@Feliciacat such amazing news! Crossing all the fingers and toes for you!

Sorry I have been totally silent all these times, I have been having such a rough time! My morning sickness is only easing off at 20 weeks now. I still cannot eat much and the general food aversion is still pretty strong. Also have an anterior placenta, can’t feel any movements yet 😢

Good news is I had my 20 weeks scan last week and things are looking great, except the baby was in a really scrunched up position and the sonographer couldn’t see their heart properly. I have to go back in another 10 days to have a repeat scan.

I also had the dreaded glucose test, still waiting for the result. TBF it wasn't that bad, I was expecting a lot worse for some reason.

I have tons of appointments coming up including uterine artery doppler, growth scans, midwife AND obstetric appointments and other bits and bobs. I am finding it hard to balance work and attending all these appointments while feeling like crap and experiencing insane tiredness.

wateringcanface · 04/03/2025 09:04

@Clocloxx I came off progesterone pretty early around 5/6 weeks, but I do remember complaining of headaches. But I have had headaches through out, usually happens if I let myself get hungry. It's made me a bit concerned it's an issue with blood sugars tbh.

Hi @teetwenty20 sorry to hear you have been feeling rough, I'm beginning to think the whole feeling good/energy boost in second trimester is a myth as I've just continuously felt a bit shitty.

That's also annoying about the scan, though I'd try see the perk, I enjoy scans so would happily return 😀.

The appointments are a lot, I don't have anything for a while. I'm self employed and I've filled my diary to the absolute brim in order to get ahead for maternity leave, so I'm a bit worried further down the line about the practicalities if there are any issues. My cousin had gestational diabetes, in the 6 weeks before being induced, she had 2 over night stays for monitoring due to reduced movements, and she had to go in for scans 1-2 times a week. That would be a logistical nightmare for me.
....

My 20 week scan was good, I'm officially 21 weeks today. I've filled my work diary now to an end date which was so satisfying and I'm just on a count down now. I think it'll fly by.

Really sorry to hear you are still feeling sick @teetwenty20. I was listening to a podcast the other day & they mentioned this charity, maybe they could help? https://www.pregnancysicknesssupport.org.uk/

Hi all! Glad to hear 20 week scans are happening, so exciting to be halfway! So sorry you're feeling rough though @teetwenty20 - it's a lot to manage with work, sickness and appointments, you poor thing!

My 20 week scan was great and then I had my final follow up fetal echo scan yesterday which was also perfect - such a huge relief to have that done. Her heart looks exactly as it should and no little holes which is what they were looking for this time. I'm like you @wateringcanface - the more scans the better haha!

Have a day off today and booked myself a pregnancy massage which I'm looking forward to. Next scan is a growth scan at 28 weeks. x

Great to hear everything is going well @loulamay. Enjoy your day off & pregnancy massage ❤️

I just had my 25 week midwife appointment, and everything is looking good 🙏

Feliciacat · 17/03/2025 14:06

I’m glad people’s twenty week (and beyond!) scans have gone well! Following my second embryo transfer after a miscarriage in November; my seven week scan has gone perfectly! It’s a massive relief!

How is everyone doing?

loulamay · 26/03/2025 14:52

Great news @Feliciacat ! Thrilled for you.

I am 25 weeks today and can't quite believe it! Having a planned c-section as well which they'll do from 39 weeks so only have 14 weeks to go!!

wateringcanface · 08/04/2025 10:34

Hey everyone.

It's crazy how close it's getting. I'm 26 weeks today. I've entered the 'winding down' period at work and nursery plans are full stream ahead. Making everything seem very real.

Nothing significant to report from me, all going OK. I'm just restless and feel like I'm wishing my spring/summer away.

Hope everyone is ok x

Feliciacat · 08/04/2025 10:42

@loulamayIm having a planned c section too so I’ve got 28 weeks to go. You must be so excited!

@wateringcanfacethat is crazy how fast the time has gone. It must be a relief to wind down at work too.

My fixed term contract ended last week and it’s hard because most contracts are temporary due to the economy but there’s no way I could do a 12 month contract due to going on maternity in six months. Even six month contracts are getting hard now because by the time they’d onboarded me, it’d be May and I wouldn’t be able to complete the contract. I also can’t do jobs like cleaning or shelf stacking because I’m pregnant. I’m hoping for some summer temp work at a university or something.

wateringcanface · 25/06/2025 09:03

Hey everyone

I assume and hope we are all close to, or at the end of our waiting game.

Im 37 +1 and desperate for baby to make her arrival.

Wish everyone the best or luck, and hope everyone's pregnancy has been good as it can be to them, and that we all have good news to share x

Hi wateringcanface

Thanks and best if luck to you too I hope this stage also goes well for everyone.

I'm 37+4 now and having a planned induction next week. After reading about all the procedure I'm so worried as I'm too bad at handling pain.

But also can't wait to see my little girl 😊

Feliciacat · 25/06/2025 13:23

Oh that’s so exciting that you guys are so far along now! After all you’ve been through! Best of luck with the births; it is a bit strange not being able to control anything on that day so not knowing how things will go. I really hope it all goes well!

I would have been 36w5d by now but instead I am 21w5d with my second transfer. He’s a boy and we’re probably calling him Sebastian!

Do you have any names planned? I can’t wait to see people’s updates!

Jcm1985 · 25/06/2025 13:42

I was thinking about this group the other day! I am 37+3 and have an appointment today to discuss inductions. Just want her here now!

wishing everyone a calm, positive birth experience 😊

loulamay · 26/06/2025 14:04

I have a planned c-section booked next Wed when I'll be 39 weeks exactly! Very ready not to be pregnant anymore, although feeling a bit anxious about how our daughter will take to her baby sister.

Got a few names on a shortlist but nothing concrete and think we're just going to wait to meet her first!

Good to hear that everyone is doing well! I had my beautiful baby boy, Ted, last Wednesday at 39+5. I was induced due to excess amniotic fluid, which was a last minute surprise! The induction didn’t go to plan, so ended up having a c-section. Both the induction & section were absolutely fine, so no need to worry about anything Smile The last week has been a blur but he is more than worth the long journey to get here ❤

Our gorgeous girl was born by c-section a week ago and we're all doing good! No sleep obviously but very happy. Breastfeeding not working out brilliantly as she won't latch so am trying pumping while she is bottle fed but just not really producing anything. Not stressing hugely - she's having the small amount that I am making in a bottle and midwife visit and weigh-in saw her only lose 5% of her birth weight which is great. I put myself under way too much pressure first time round and determined not to do the same again.

Hormone crash on day 6 - what fun! My parents are here helping and my Dad said "Don't stress, it's all ok" about nothing in particular and I nearly murdered him in my rage hahaha.

Hope everyone else is well!

Congratulations everyone!
After a hellish pregnancy, my little boy was born at 37+5 weeks on the 3rd.
I had gestational diabetes with 120 units of insulin in a day, high BP, excess fluid, bad pelvic girdle pain - you name it, I had it!

Planned c section went well except I lost 2L of blood and bubba passed meconium in the womb. Post delivery I had bowel issues, had to stay in for fluid etc. We finally brought him home on Sunday, but now back to the hospital as he has jaundice.

Despite the struggles, I will do it all again and again and some more for him, he is just so precious!!

I hope everyone is doing well and wish everyone all the best xx

BrownBlossom · 14/07/2025 20:21

Huge congratulations everyone!
My little girl was born on 3rd. I had planned induction and ended up with too much blood loss and some other emergency situation. What a day but it's all worth it when you hold your little angel.
Now trying to get use to of sleepless nights and nappy change routine all day long 😴
