FET March thread

Hi all 👋

I have a failed first transfer (fresh) and have one embryo banked from my first retrieval.

I’ll be doing my first FET with it in March. Anyone else joining me for the wait?

I’m still waiting to find out what went wrong with my fresh transfer. Hopefully next time is the charm!

@Bruceytwo hey again! So sorry to hear your fresh transfer also failed back in January.

We’re on the same timeline except your transfer is earlier than mine - do you have day 3s rather than 5s? Do you have any more frozens?

The timing is the worst! I’m quite lucky that I only need to go to the office twice a week, I had a job in the past where attendance was super strict and it made fertility treatments so tricky. How much time are you taking off?

@Copenhagener I have three day 5s frozen, it looks like my lead follicle (23mm) is bigger than yours so that's probably why the transfer dates are different. I think despite triggering today I'm probably already naturally ovulating but hopefully it doesn't matter too much!

I had originally booked all of next week off, expecting to travel on Monday - Thursday. But now I am travelling Friday - Monday I'm not sure what to do.

Have you booked much time off?

Runner77 · 19/03/2024 11:45

Hi Ladies,

Hope you are all doing ok. I had my transfer this morning, it went smoothly and luckily the embryo they chose thawed well (such a relief!). Now onto waiting…

Just to add back some stress, my partner has tested positive for COVID, literally hours after the transfer. My main concern is catching COVID and the impact that it may have, especially if I had a fever, on the embryo. I’m trying to isolate now as best I can but it’s probably already too late.

@Copenhagener so great to have your transfer booked in. Hope it goes really well.

@Sunflower360 that’s a very comprehensive set of tests! The only other one that springs to mind is the dna fragmentation test but that might only be relevant where MFI is already at play.

RibbetRibbetRibbet · 19/03/2024 16:34

Hi all, I had my FET today.

I had egg collection back in August and got lots of eggs but none got to the correct stage by the day of transfer so a cavitating mirula was used and that failed. They left my fertilised eggs for one more day to see if any got to the correct stage and one did. That one was used today.
Been ttc for about 6 years now and this is the best chance I have had yet. Keeping all my fingers and toes crossed!

I wish everyone all the best

JulesIVF · 20/03/2024 15:17

Hi all,

Has anyone used embryo glue before?
my clinic just called to say that we are in at 11:30 on Friday and asked if we wanted to use embryo glue. It’s £200 extra. She said they don’t recommend it to people because there’s no data that it helps.

DoctorBambino · 20/03/2024 17:42

Hi @JulesIVF my clinic use embryo glue as standard and so far both my fresh and frozen cycle have resulted in a positive pregnancy test. No idea if the glue helps, I imagine it's more to do with the embryo and womb than glue but I have no idea!

Bruceytwo · 21/03/2024 14:29

@RibbetRibbetRibbet Everything crossed for you!

Bruceytwo · 23/03/2024 11:34

I had my FET today.

The doctor sounded very positive about the blastocyst and my uterus, but we don't know why my fresh transfer failed so I still have worries.

Official test day is 1st April (lol) but I think I'll be tempted to test on Easter day - seems like a good day for it!

JulesIVF · 23/03/2024 14:46

Best of luck @Bruceytwo. My test day is also 1st of April, had my transfer yday. Also thinking to test on Easter. I think everyone would think we are playing an april fools joke otherwise 😂.

Bruceytwo · 23/03/2024 17:20

@JulesIVF haha I thought the same.

Good luck! Are you doing anything special to help post-transfer? I've had a chill day today, more because of bad weather than anything else though

JulesIVF · 23/03/2024 17:23

@Bruceytwo I had a pretty chilled day as well aside from walking our dog. All I’ve done so far if have a smoothie today and yday of watermelon, pineapple core, and beetroot (can’t hurt). I did have acupuncture booked but ended up not going. Are you doing anything? Oh… and McDonald’s chips yday of course 😂.

GoldenDoor · 23/03/2024 19:43

Hi, our FET was on the 13th and tentantive positive, but really really slow to get darker lines and only on 1-2 weeks on a digital. Don’t feel I can join the due November group yet.

Runner77 · 24/03/2024 00:23

@Bruceytwo and @JulesIVF my OTD is 2nd April so I feel like we are test day buddies. My transfer was on the 19th but as my clinic is closed over Easter I have to wait the full 2 weeks for a blood test. I’m considering doing a home test before then but if it’s negative I don’t want it to ruin our time off for Easter.

How is everyone doing?

Bruceytwo · 24/03/2024 10:04

@JulesIVF Ah good ideas, I totally forgot about the pineapple/beetroot thing, probably too late now! But I have been having acupuncture over the last few weeks and have another appointment this week. I'm definitely more relaxed this time compared to my fresh transfer so hope that helps.

@Goldendoor ooh congratulations, it's still a bit early for you officially isn't it? I would try not to worry about darkness etc as I don't think it's accurate

@Runner77 eek yep I'd say OTD buddies. I actually don't have a blood test with my clinic, just POAS.

JulesIVF · 24/03/2024 10:10

@Bruceytwo @Runner77 fingers crossed for us all 🤞🏻❤️.
Have yous had any niggles or cramping etc? I know it’s still so early but I’ve got myself hung up on people getting faint positives on like day 3/4 on tik tok which I didn’t even know was possible. Downloaded that app to follow a girl in Australia’s IVF journey and now I’m hooked. My trigger shot that I took last Saturday was still showing when I tested on Friday before the transfer so I know I need to hold out and not test early to avoid any false positives.

FlowerWheel · 24/03/2024 18:57

@JulesIVF we did the opposite, kept testing daily through transfer so we could see when the trigger shot went down to negative so knew any positive after that was genuine and not still trigger.

Runner77 · 25/03/2024 04:20

@JulesIVF, I’ve had a bit of cramping today (day 6) so of course starting worrying that my period is on its way. I know it could just be from the progesterone though.

@Bruceytwo how many days post transfer is your OTD? I’m now considering testing at home on Thursday, which will be day 9 as the nerves are starting to get to me.

Bruceytwo · 25/03/2024 06:34

@JulesIVF nothing here that can't be explained by progesterone. Am trying really hard to ignore anything I think I feel because with my fresh I thought I felt pregnant and was really disappointed.

@Flowerwheel I'm considering testing out the trigger too, haven't decided though as it can be sad watching the lines disappear!

@Runner77 yes my OTD is 9 days post 5 day transfer. I think doing it then would give you a pretty reliable result.

Copenhagener · 25/03/2024 07:29

Hi transfer team!

It seems there’s a lot of us going in at the moment!

My first FET is in a couple of hours.

TMI warning: I woke up with a very red sore vagina and some sort of cyst that’s formed. I’m not sure if the progesterone caused it, but I feel raw down there and I have so much thick discharge. I’m a little worried about the discomfort later when they use the speculum on it 🫣

OP posts:
Runner77 · 25/03/2024 07:34

Good luck with the transfer @Copenhagener. That sounds really uncomfortable. Hopefully they can provide an ointment or something to help with the discomfort.

Copenhagener · 25/03/2024 11:13

@Runner77 thank you! Thankfully the doctor took a closer look at it before he did the transfer, and he said it was only a mild infection and not to worry.

Embryo #2 is in! TWW is on.

It was a bit more sore when the speculum went in because of the infection, but otherwise it went fine. They said the embryo defrosted really well and looked good! Fingers crossed now. I’m going to spend the day chilling at home and reading.

I’ll have a blood test on 4 April. Is anyone else testing that day?

OP posts:
Bruceytwo · 25/03/2024 12:01

Good luck @Copenhagener, glad it wasn't too sore in the end!

RibbetRibbetRibbet · 25/03/2024 14:59

I'm so glad the transfer worked ok for you @Copenhagener

@JulesIVF @Bruceytwo I am also trying to ignore any 'symptoms' as I was sure I was preggo last time. My test date is 30th March so not too long now.

JulesIVF · 25/03/2024 22:20

@RibbetRibbetRibbet not long at all! I think I will probably test on Saturday if I manage to wait that long. This is my first transfer, it’s so hard not to get hopeful when you feel a wee twinge even though I know it will be the progesterone 🥲.
Felt so nauseous when I was driving to work today and I know it’s far too early to be anything other than the pessaries.

@Copenhagener glad your transfer went well 😊.

JulesIVF · 26/03/2024 09:53

Overthinking so much this morning cause when we fell pregnant naturally last June my boobs were really painful at 10DPO. I’m now 4 days past transfer so 9DPO equivalent and they are not sensitive or painful at all 😖. Not feeling hopeful at all 😞.
