Anyone else planning going through embryo transfer in January? Would love to hear from others on this journey.

We last did an embryo transfer in July 2022, which was unsuccessful and had a previous two transfers, one unsuccessful and one resulting in miscarriage. As those were our only embryos I've been through 2 ECs this year and now have 8 euploid embryos! It's been a long journey and I'm very hopeful for this next transfer 🤞

I know right.. Long may it continue!! 🙌

Always28 · 29/01/2024 14:56

@kateb24 congratulations!! That’s brilliant news.

My OTD is tomorrow so I’m going to buy a test on the way home tonight. I’m feeling scared about testing. I feel very normal at the moment which is making me worry that’s a sign it hasn’t worked. I’m not sure I’ll sleep very well tonight!

lori2019 · 29/01/2024 15:23

@Bettinapink hope your test today has gone well. 🤞🏼 ❤

My cold is much better, thank you.

Congratulations @kateb24 my test day 2nd, now you have me tempted to test too ;)

HopefulHead · 29/01/2024 17:56

Good luck for tomorrow @Always28 !
I am in admiration of all you ladies waiting until your OTD’s 😍

Warrier87 · 29/01/2024 18:04

Thanks all!

@HopefulHead - hahaha trust me, it's been so difficult! Went on a bit of a hunt the day before trying to find where my hubby hid them! Hahaha... the hormones really do have an affect. I'm not sure if you've tried meditation or yoga? I found it helpful to calm myself....

@Lyrabee - aww thanks! How are you feeling? Hahah another wait!

@Always28 - aww thanks! So this time mild cramps, thought I was due to start. (my period cramps are alot worse in comparison). plus been so moody and snappy! Feel so sorry for everyone around me! Not long to go for testing for yourself. How are you feeling? Fingers crossed for you tomorrow!

@DublinICSI - thanks lovely. Nearly there, 4 nights too go! How are you keeping?

@Lebe14 - thanks 🤩.... how are you feeling at the moment?

@Bettinapink- the progesterone does really make you feel unwell. Have you tried the other way? Also well done for not testing early! Super tough!

@kateb24- aww so happy to hear of your positive test result! Was reading the levels start to raised round 8... amazing news!!

Lyrabee · 29/01/2024 18:12

@Warrier87 I feel really on edge about it, like I can't enjoy it because it's another wait and then another wait after that if the scan is okay - so much waiting!

But I'm doing okay, I'm getting more tired than normal in the evenings, elevated heart rate and out of breath very easy along with being warm - all down to extra blood pumping around me apparently! Generally though, I feel normal!

DublinICSI · 29/01/2024 18:36

Ah congrats @kateb24 !! More lovely news 🥰

And good luck to @Bettinapink and @Always28 (and anyone else with tests today or tomorrow!!)

I am really struggling with the tiredness at the moment, keep needing to take little naps. And similar to you @Warrier87 I’m feeling a bit crampy but not as bad as normal PMS pains? And very irritable 😂 so hard not to read into the symptoms, I change my mind every minute as to what I think 🫣

Friday is feeling both very far and very soon - nervous to think that I’m either facing another full round of ICSI or life-changing good news… it’s a bit surreal!

I’m also finding it a bit difficult in terms of holidays etc - I love planning out my year and feel like I’m jinxing things either way by committing or not committing to plans 😵‍💫

Bettinapink · 29/01/2024 21:37

So I ended up testing at 3am this morning, I couldn’t sleep and was test date anyway so I just got on with it and it was positive! Just got to hope it continues to go well!

I hope everyone else is doing ok.

HopefulHead · 29/01/2024 22:28

Congrats @Bettinapink ! Great news 😘

bathmatshowermat · 29/01/2024 22:55

So many positives. Wow. Congrats everyone. In another tww waiting for a scan now, but I don't feel as impatient as waiting to test!

Warrier87 · 30/01/2024 09:12

Hey all!

@Lyrabee - the waiting is a lot. Keeps you slightly in the edge. But small steps in the right direction! 🫶.... the tiredness! Right?! I'm tired and overly warm. Aww yes the heart rate goes up, as the pregnancy progresses can be above >100beats per min

@DublinICSI - the tiredness is definitely something. I also had a bit of an appetite. Aww the irritability, yup! Those hormones def have an effect. I've def been a cranky sod for sure! Fingers crossed for you.... and then all that time you take will be worth it 💕.

@Bettinapink - amazing news! Haha totally worth the 3am wake up! How are you feeling?

So happy to hear so many positive news at the moment. Sending lots of positivity to you all 🫶

Always28 · 31/01/2024 07:40

Morning. Just to let you know, I got a BFN on OTD. Feeling absolutely gutted - I was quite hopeful because of the PGTA testing.

Sending so much good luck to everyone still in 2WW and those of you with positive tests.

HopefulHead · 31/01/2024 07:48

I’m so sorry to hear that @Always28 💔 it’s such a heartbreaking process, hopefully you can take some time out and look after yourself. Sending love 💕

Always28 · 31/01/2024 07:52

Thank you @HopefulHead . I’m trying to stay positive given we have frozen embryos but it’s obviously just so disappointing. IVF takes such a lot from you, it’s just exhausting to then not get the result you want. It’s also so expensive! I do genuinely think that whatever the outcome of my journey, I’m going to look into getting involved in campaigning for more funding for fertility treatments. Anyway, I’ve slightly digressed there!!

If anyone has any stories of anyone who has had a failed euploid transfer and gone on to have a successful one, I would be really appreciative!

HopefulHead · 31/01/2024 08:06

@Always28 It is good to stay positive but you are also allowed time to grieve your loss ❤️
Our first transfer failed and I was totally knocked sideways and I just ‘knew’ we would be one of those lucky ones who it worked for first time, it completely floored me.
I have more realistic expectations going in to it This time and know it may not work again but I’m sure it will still hurt just as much if it doesn’t.

Im glad you have Frosties to try again and aparently the chances increase with every transfer so 🤞🏼🤞🏼

kateb24 · 31/01/2024 10:41

I'm so sorry @Always28 getting a negative result just floors you. IVF is such a journey and can be so disappointing and heartbreaking. That's really good news you have Frosties left and can move forward with those when you feel ready.

Be kind to yourself and take time to process, do you get offered any counselling at your clinic, I did at mine and it really helped. Sending love x

DublinICSI · 31/01/2024 11:26

So sorry to hear @Always28 💔 It's such a tough mental battle so I hope you're looking after yourself this week.

Warrier87 · 31/01/2024 11:32

I'm so sorry to hear @Always28 💔... IVF is such a heartbreaking process. Take the time you need to grieve your loss. There is no right and wrong way in grieving. We are all here to support you through this ❤️

Lebe14 · 31/01/2024 12:14

So sorry @Always28 - make sure you take the time you need xxx

botsytots · 31/01/2024 14:00

I am so sorry @Always28 - I hope you're able to prioritise yourself today and take some time out. It's good you have more embryos so you can do another transfer when you're ready ❤️

I had 3 euploid embryos previously result in 2 BFNs and a miscarriage. It's disappointing as you presume with a euploid embryo that nothing could go wrong. I am trying prednisone as immune treatment for this transfer so will let you know if that helps x

TMI WARNING

I’m so sorry if this is tmi but I’ve googled and can’t find anything and don’t know anyone IRL who has done this to ask and I’m getting very paranoid!!

So I feel like my vaginal odour is a little offensive - not like thrush or bv which I’ve had before, kinda like strong vagina? I don’t know how to explain it 😭

I did a weeks course of bv & thrush pessaries last week to ensure I was infection free ready for the transfer but still feel like the smell is there - has anyone else had a change in smell from taking oestrogen tablets and I’m sure that’s all I can put it down to?

My DH is on a sex ban and has been from last week, I’m not using any perfumed bubble bath or anything like that so it MUST be the oestrogen but I can’t find anything online to suggest it is and I’m getting really worried it’s something else 😭

Caubabatko · 31/01/2024 22:05

@Warrier87 Congratulations! Are you getting a hCG test as well?

My transfer was 22nd (Day 9 today) - not quite OTD yet but I couldn't wait anymore! I've just tested positive-ish with a One Step dipstick. Though it was a faint line. Does it look legit positive? Previously I'd never get the second line. Will go get my hCG level checked on OTD but it's a huge relief as I turned 44 the day after the transfer!

FET January 2024
Caubabatko · 31/01/2024 22:15

@Always28 I'm so sorry - First FET was natural modified, transferred a Day 6 euploid, BFN and bleeding started before OTD.
This one was Day 5, best grade euploid embryo and I did a medicated cycle. Still too early to be euphoric, but I'm at least chemically pregnant now (see my post above) and am going to give a live birth hopefully!

DublinICSI · 31/01/2024 22:31

@Caubabatko congrats - I haven't used those tests before but there are definitely two lines there!! That's amazing news!

@HopefulHead sorry I can't say that's happened to me but I do think we're all dosed up on so many hormones, it's probably a side effect in some form from that? But I'd say worth checking with your clinic just to be sure - nothing worse than having something hanging over you.

I am starting to go a bit mad, OTD isn't until Friday and I'm second guessing everything. My womb / uterus area feels kind of heavy - kind of as if my period is coming, but I haven't had the normal cramps I would get. Conscious that the progesterone and estrogen is throwing everying askew - has anyone else had that at all? I haven't had any other symptoms really (asides from moodiness / snacking)...

lori2019 · 01/02/2024 07:22

@DublinICSI I feel exactly the same. Like I'm being weighed down a bit there, I get twinges sometimes. I have moments where I'm convinced I'm pregnant and others where I think nope, definitely not. These last 24 hours are killing me! Roll on tomorrow, I just want to know either way now.

Congrats @Caubabatko that definitely looks positive to me. Good luck with your beta, hopefully a good strong number.
