Anyone else planning going through embryo transfer in January? Would love to hear from others on this journey.

We last did an embryo transfer in July 2022, which was unsuccessful and had a previous two transfers, one unsuccessful and one resulting in miscarriage. As those were our only embryos I've been through 2 ECs this year and now have 8 euploid embryos! It's been a long journey and I'm very hopeful for this next transfer 🤞

@lori2019 are you going back to the clinic for your test or doing it at home? Mine is a clinic blood test which is first thing in the morning... and then I won't get results until after lunch - I think tomorrow is going to be a tough day!!

lori2019 · 01/02/2024 11:05

@DublinICSI Clinic has asked me to do a test at home. If it's positive then I have to have a hcg and progesterone blood test. I was just out of the office to get a coffee, took all my strength not to go into pharmacy as I passed to buy a test. 😫

DublinICSI · 01/02/2024 11:09

I hear you - I gave my husband all our home tests on the day of our transfer to hide, and the temptation now to go and rip his side of the room apart to try and find them is overwhelming 😂

kateb24 · 01/02/2024 14:52

Congratulation @Caubabatko amazing news!

Good luck @lori2019 @DublinICSI sending all the positive vibes your way!

Today was my official test day, I used the clearable digital.. which showed 1-2wks.. this is good but I was hopeful I might have been more 2-3wks. On my last positive result I didn't ever go above 1-2 wks and sadly miscarried at 6wks. My clinic doesn't offer HCG blood tests and I just think this would help me manage my expectations.. as waiting 3 weeks for my scan will drive me insane! Has anyone tried the at home HCG tests.. just wondering if they are worth it?

Caubabatko · 01/02/2024 15:58

@lori2019 @DublinICSI Well done keeping yourselves from testing early. I tested due to the spotting, I got DH to watch me do it to help with the anxiety and I had to convince him because it was 3 days before OTD and he was like nah wait... Good luck with your tests tomorrow, fingers crossed for you two.

@kateb24 Thank you! To take or not to take hCG in my opinion depends on the type of cycle. When I did a natural cycle where I ovulated and my body followed a more natural course of menstrual cycle, by the time I tested negative twice using the same dipstick, I started bleeding as normal and the temperature went down subsequently. So I knew within 3-4 days that the embryo didn't stick. If I had tested positive I would've got a hCG to confirm but I didn't think there was any point after BFN and all these signs of non-pregnancy.

This cycle is a medicated one, no follicles, no ovulation, and oral/vaginal hormones are controlling my physiology to a large extent so there is more need to confirm with blood tests whether or not I'm pregnant before we decide what to do next.

kateb24 · 01/02/2024 16:44

Thanks @Caubabatko I'm on a natural cycle, same as when I miscarried. I just want some reassurance my levels are rising. But don't know what tests are worth getting to check this? My clinic won't advise either as its not protocol to offer them. So frustrating !

And NHS doesn't routinely do it either while hCG is listed as one of their lab tests on some NHS hospital websites - makes me wonder what the eligibility criteria is!
So I'm going private and I'm about to book Nuffield Health hCG for £62, I had to get a referral letter from my clinic abroad. If you're near London, Harley Street Clinic does it for £49 for any patient, including phlebotomy.
Randox Health (you'd need to email them) £67 without referral.

Ellenn · 01/02/2024 17:01

@kateb24 i found it really difficult to find somewhere to get hcg bloods. Easiest place for me was buying from medichecks and just doing it yourself on finger prick. If you tick no doctors comments I normally got the results in about 36/48 hrs after posting 😊 there was a discount on but might have only been for January.

its so hard looking at lines to see progression I’ve driven myself mad before doing it. I did like using the weeks clear blue test to show it’s changing although there is a really big jump from 2-3wks to 3+ wks

lori2019 · 01/02/2024 18:12

So I caved, tested this eve with a digital.
It's positive! I'm not sure I can believe it.

HCG tomorrow morning and I get the results about 6pm.

HopefulHead · 01/02/2024 18:54

Congratulations @lori2019 ! So nice seeing so many of you getting positives ❤️

Caubabatko · 01/02/2024 22:41

@lori2019 Congratulations! We can form a class of IVF babies from this thread!

@Ellenn Are you happy with the accuracy of Medicheck HCG? I've considered it, and if I need to keep testing every few days I might as well use them from the start...

Ellenn · 02/02/2024 06:21

@Caubabatko yes I’ve used them on multiple different transfers and never had any issues. Its gets run at an accredited lab as well. I haven’t used any other online test so don’t really have much to compare 🤷‍♀️ obviously not as good as on the day results but I’ve still found them relatively speedy.

congrats for all the positives on this thread - sorry I’ve not quite been keeping up with everyone!! 🥰 I hope it continues well xx

im holding out till 9dp5dt which is this Sunday to do my test!

botsytots · 02/02/2024 08:57

Congratulation @lori2019 !! So lovely to see so many of you getting positives 🥰

Hey all!

Sorry I've not been keeping up with messages at all! Hope everyone is getting on okay.

Our transfer went well on Monday - both survived the thaw and were hatching ☺️ have had a bit of rusty coloured spotting from about Tuesday onwards - I was told to expect this and that it's normal. Still had a bit yesterday and definitely had more cramping yesterday. Really hope it's a good sign. However this TWW is taking forever. Only 4dpt and feeling like it should be over already haha!!

Think I'm going to start testing on Monday - I'd rather set myself up for knowing what will happen on test day, rather than build everything up and it be negative after such a long wait.

X

kateb24 · 02/02/2024 11:15

Huge congrats @lori2019 I don't blame you for caving.. you did so well to wait as long as you did!! Good luck with your bloods

Thanks so much for the advice @Caubabatko @Ellenn its such a daunting, long wait and so out of your control. You just want to know what's going on in there and preempt any disappointment!!

So glad your transfer went well @Lebe14 the waiting is the worst.. I drove myself mad and started testing on day 8.. good luck with it all

Ellenn · 02/02/2024 11:29

@kateb24 yeh it’s awful after you test, I always thought the 2ww was the worst but don’t think it is as bad as after!

@Lebe14 glad your transfer went well 😊 joining the double team 💪

I’m also not managed to keep up with this thread and I’ve realised I’ve somehow ended up on two January threads for FET 🤣

wonder if everyone wanted to update where you are at in treatment if you want? I had seen notifications of quite a few positives so congrats 🙌

I can go first I’m currently 7dp5dt on my 4th transfer and hoping to test on Sunday (OTD isn’t till 9th though!)

Kfish56 · 02/02/2024 11:41

Hi All,

I am hoping someone might be able to help me calm down as I am spiralling in my own thoughts.
I had my first FET on Wednesday afternoon and yesterday I felt fine just exhausted.
However, I have completely written myself off today as I have period cramps which I would normally have at this point in my cycle and I feel like it’s not worked.
has anyone else had this and ended up getting a BFP?

kateb24 · 02/02/2024 11:58

hey @Kfish56 try not to worry. I kept thinking my period as about to start, feeling really crampy and heavy .. ended up testing early as just wanted to know and got BFP! Your body is going through a lot and with all the drugs and extra hormones, so try and not think the worst. Its such a hard time and just seems to go on forever! sending love

Kfish56 · 02/02/2024 12:11

Thank you so much. I wasn’t expecting to feel anything so soon, was hoping to stay in the bubble a little longer before panic set in.
i have that dull ache I always get so the familiar feeling has made me feel really negative about it.
Congratulations on your BFP ♥️

Lebe14 · 02/02/2024 12:31

@Kfish56 I felt the same yesterday. I had my transfer on Monday - felt a little crampy that evening but then felt more period-like cramps a lot yesterday and felt so bloated at the end of the day. I think it's all part of it and nothing to worry about :) like others have said, our bodies are taking on a lot with all the meds and procedures x

lori2019 · 02/02/2024 17:10

@Kfish56 I had the same symptoms. Felt like my period was about to arrive. Unfortunately the progesterone can cause those symptoms.

My beta has come back at 343, 10 days post 5 day trf. I've no idea if that's good or not. Clinic is already closed so I don't think I'll hear from them until Monday.

Kfish56 · 02/02/2024 17:12

Thank you so much 😊 keep me updated on how you get on? I will keep my fingers crossed for you xx

@lori2019 great number 🙌 think most clinics seem to want >100! Do you have a date for your scan yet?

HE90 · 02/02/2024 20:07

Hey! Sorry to join the party late. I had FET on 16/01, tortured myself during the TWW that it hadn’t worked as I felt absolutely normally (physically, definitely not mentally) but I had HCG on Monday which was really strong.
Now I feel like I’m in another TWW waiting for the scan, with not many symptoms other than strange vivid dreams and bloating which is definitely from the progesterone. I did consider medicheck for another HCG to reassure myself it’s still increasing. Also bought digital CB but have refrained from using it today as I did one yesterday and it said 2-3 when I was hoping for 3+.
It’s nice to read others comments in the same position as me. This journey can be very lonely.
