Anyone else planning going through embryo transfer in January? Would love to hear from others on this journey.

We last did an embryo transfer in July 2022, which was unsuccessful and had a previous two transfers, one unsuccessful and one resulting in miscarriage. As those were our only embryos I've been through 2 ECs this year and now have 8 euploid embryos! It's been a long journey and I'm very hopeful for this next transfer 🤞

Transfer all went well, was actually much smoother than the first time - I think I better managed my bladder this time 😂and now into the TWW crazies!!

How are you both getting on @Always28 and @Warrier87 ?

And good luck tomorrow @lori2019 ! 🍀

lori2019 · 22/01/2024 22:06

Thanks @DublinICSI
Glad to hear all went well. Hope the next days goes quickly!

I'm so nervous for the call tomorrow morning, just hope it defrosts ok and the transfer happens. It's our only frostie.

Congratulations @Lyrabee do you have a beta test at your clinic?

Lyrabee · 23/01/2024 00:03

Thank you everyone! I've done another test this evening and the line is still there. The clinic didn't give me a lot of info, just checked my meds and ordered more lubion to get me through to my scan on 13th Feb so in 3 weeks. No mention of a beta, I don't know if I can get one elsewhere?

Aaah @DublinICSI well done on your transfer! I'm glad there's a few of you now in tww! Fingers crossed it goes quickly!

Ellenn · 23/01/2024 07:14

@Lyrabee that’s great! The wait for the scan I found more challenging than the actual 2WW 😳 if you would like to check beta hcg levels medichecks have finger prick tests that are quite good. I’m planning on using them. The only thing with bloods is ideally you want two different samples to check the levels are rising as difficult to interpret just one result if that makes sense?

I’m planning on doing mine at day 9 after transfer as I’ve done it on other transfers so could compare my numbers and hopefully they are higher ….. if it works that is!

@DublinICSI officiallt in the 2WW!!! Are you planning to hold out till OTD?

Caubabatko · 23/01/2024 11:13

Transfer completed yesterday around 10am GMT and officially joined the TWW club! @DublinICSI Good to hear yours went smoothly, what are you planning on
I had a little spotting after, which I think is from the catheter ransfer.
Dr said the embryo would finish hatching in the next 2 days, once it's there nothing can influence it. Fingers triple crossed 🍀

@Lyrabee Congrats! Happy to hear about your positive results, keep us posted on more updates.

Lyrabee · 23/01/2024 11:23

Thank you @Caubabatko !

I had a little bit of brown spotting after my transfer. They said it would have been left over from my period and the catheter will have dislodged it but they did say fresh spotting would also be normal due to the catheter maybe hitting the fresh lining!

I've asked my clinic about a BETA test :)

Lebe14 · 23/01/2024 12:03

@DublinICSI so glad to hear your transfer went well yesterday! Hope you're feeling okay x

@lori2019 good luck with your transfer today! IVF is full of constant worries isn't it, you get through one bit and then worry about the next. I feel the same about the defrosting process - really hope ours survive as they're all we have.

@Caubabatko congrats to you on your transfer yesterday too!!

@Lyrabee that's good to ask about the beta test - hopefully they'll do one and follow up with another a few days after. I feel like I'd need that to keep myself sane waiting for the scan. Exciting that you have the date for that.

Good news from my scan today. Lining is just above 9mm now so we're good to go. Transfer booked for Monday eeek!! I'm planning to use fertility leave on Monday but not sure whether to take the following day too, just to spend a day chilling and relaxing. It's my first transfer so just not sure how I'll feel. What has everyone else done??

X

Caubabatko · 23/01/2024 13:56

Thank you @Lebe14 , I took a medical=fertility leave yesterday then am on AL for the rest of the week, because my clinic is abroad and we want to make the best of the trip!
I had acupuncture before and after this transfer, and a romantic bath in jacuzzi the night before💞

bathmatshowermat · 23/01/2024 15:26

Hello,

Hope you don't mind me joining. I did a round of ivf 4 years ago and was lucky enough to get 2 good quality embryos. One is my daughter. The other was transferred to me on Friday, and I have been in mental turmoil since. Finding it really tough to wait this time. I have tested twice already, what am I thinking?

I did an early preg test yesterday evening and a positive came up, and then a few minutes later disappeared. And a standard preg test today which I'm sure was negative. I'm just going to leave it until the weekend now. I didn't feel like this last time, very strange. And I'm also just about ok with either outcome, as we have a beautiful, healthy girl.

The oestrogen pills are also making me feel quite low I think. Is anyone else experiencing that? Sorry for the essay!!!

DublinICSI · 23/01/2024 16:46

@lori2019 hope everything went well today!! 🍀

@Ellenn yep going to wait until OTD - I have to go back into the clinic for a blood test. Last time I tested early and drove myself crazy double-guessing and worrying about false negatives / positives, so have asked my husband to hide all our tests this time around! What are you going to do? When will your OTD be?

@Lebe14 great news on the scan!! All systems go now :) So I took off Monday (transfer), today, and tomorrow... am actually now deliberating taking the full week as really want to stay very relaxed, but that's probably overkill. I'm starting a new project at work and think its going to be pretty stressful... but equally it's only 2 days of work this week so will probably stick with original plan. I'd definitely take the day of and day after anyway, you have to look after yourself!

@Caubabatko congrats on your transfer yesterday, hope you're able to relax now on your holiday.

@bathmatshowermat welcome! Yes I'd definitely leave it until the weekend (if not later!) - I would have thought too early to tell at this stage? I haven't felt low but definitely a bit bloated and maybe slightly moodier... not very fun side effects either 😂

lori2019 · 23/01/2024 17:49

Hello all,

Home from the clinic and on the sofa for a cosy evening. All went well, embryo was an AB. Doc happy with lining and progesterone bloods so nothing more we can do now but wait.

The clinic gave us a pregnancy test, my boyfriend quickly said, I'll take that, thank you! He knows me too well 😂

Lebe14 · 23/01/2024 18:26

@Caubabatko that makes sense - so nice to extend your time abroad to relax afterwards!

@bathmatshowermat congrats on your transfer! As @DublinICSI mentioned, it's still so early - hopefully you'll get your positive on test day. Fingers crossed for you.

@DublinICSI thanks for your advice on time off. Feel like what I have planned seems about right and the norm - will see how it goes.

Seems like most are now in the TWW now. Looking forward to hearing everyone's outcomes over the next couple of weeks.

X

Lebe14 · 23/01/2024 18:26

@lori2019 pleased to hear it went well! X

botsytots · 23/01/2024 21:35

Congratulations @Lyrabee 🤩 amazing news!

@DublinICSI @Caubabatko @lori2019 sending good vibes to you all for a smooth and stress free TWW🥰 so great to see so many having their transfer!

Welcome @bathmatshowermat! It's so hard to hold out until testing but if you can, definitely hold out a few days longer. I started testing early after a previous transfer and it just made me more anxious so I will definitely be holding out for this transfer

@Lebe14 great news that your transfer is booked! Good luck ☺️

I have my scan tomorrow and expecting transfer to be some point next week if all goes to plan 🤞

OP posts:
bathmatshowermat · 23/01/2024 21:57

Seems like everyone is doing much better with their patience than me! I'm glad your transfers went well and fingers crossed. Smile

I'm constantly symptom spotting. I definitely feel different mild cramps than I usually do, but who knows. It's all driving me mentally crazy. 😬

Ellenn · 23/01/2024 22:04

@lori2019 i hope your partner is good at hiding that test 🤣 it’s so hard sometimes to hold off!

@DublinICSI thats great your clinic do bloods! Almost feel finding out that way it isn’t on you, not that it would make a difference to the outcome but at least you don’t have a test hanging about that you end up using too early 🙈 when is your OTD?

my clinic do full 2 weeks so will be 9th February but I will probably test on the 4th at 9dp5dt as I’ve had pretty clear results at that stage before. I will try and do a medichecks beta too.

@bathmatshowermat congrats on your transfer, you are still very early don’t worry! On my first ever transfer I started testing early and it literally made me go into a spiral downwards. If you can hold off I definitely felt it helped me be less anxious. The whole process is draining though. I’ve not felt low on the meds but since starting progesterone I have noticed my emotions are all over the place. Unsure if it’s just anxiety due to transfer getting closer or hormones 🤷‍♀️

Bettinapink · 24/01/2024 08:54

Hi all, I hope no one minds me hopping on this post. I’ve been reading all your posts during this stressful time and drawing comfort from knowing I’m not the only one.

I am currently 8dpt and going a bit mad. I have been in this cycle since October. My egg stim lasted a month. I got 4 eggs, 2 made it to day 5 blastocysts. We then had PGT-M testing which left us with 1 unaffected blastocyst which was implanted last week.

I feel ruined, physically and mentally. I am experiencing what feels like early pregnancy symptoms but I’m painfully aware it could be chemical. I can’t stop researching every symptom. I have not tested yet. I decided not to do that from the start but am really struggling. My test date is still 5bdays away…any tips for getting through without testing?!

lori2019 · 24/01/2024 09:57

@Bettinapink the waiting is so difficult, I think because it's so much out of your control. With the stims stage you are somewhat in control by doing your injections and having tests/scan seeing progression.

Try to stay away from the tests for a few more days, knowing that they might not give you an accurate picture. We are all here to support you, try take your mind off it by doing things you enjoy. Meet a friend for a coffee, go for a walk, talk about a completely different subject with someone.

Lyrabee · 24/01/2024 10:36

@Bettinapink aww lovely I would recommend avoiding that test if you can until your OTD. Honestly the only thing that kept me going was the dread of testing and seeing another blank window. Keep hold of your hope 🙏

I did a lot of symptom spotting and had to keep reminding myself it's just the drugs, it's not an accurate reflection. If you catch yourself googling, put the phone away - it's stealing that time away from you and not worth the worry!

Wishing you all the best x

Always28 · 24/01/2024 14:39

I just wrote a long reply, referencing lots of people, and then lost it 🤦🏻‍♀️. My work break is nearly over so I’ll just post a little update about me for now (sorry!). Hope everyone is ok though.

I’m now 7dpt. No real symptoms and just feel very normal (other than quite emotional and tired, but some of that is likely to be life and drugs!). The lack of symptoms is making me worry that it’s a sign it hasn’t worked. Trying to stay positive, it’s just difficult!

when I had my son through ivf (13 years ago), I had lots of symptoms by this point. But I also had OHSS so I’m wondering if maybe they were more down to that than being pregnant. Trying to resist googling every 5 minutes for positive stories!

Right, back to work.

Lebe14 · 24/01/2024 19:22

@botsytots how did your scan go today?

@Bettinapink so sorry to hear about how you're feeling. Well done for staying strong and not testing! I can't offer any advice from experience as I'm having my first transfer on Monday however I know I will be feeling exactly the same as you - the waiting in IVF is the worst. Hope you manage to find some nice things to do over the next 5 days to take your mind off it xx

@Always28 do stay positive! Still early days and I'm sure most natural pregnancies would have no, or very minimal, symptoms whatsoever at this point. Definitely isn't an indicator of the transfer being successful or not. When's your test date?

I'm on day 1 of progesterone. Those cyclogest pessaries aren't my favourite 😂😂 Just did my first lubion injection - whilst it took a while to inject, and is a bit stingy now, it wasn't too bad.

Hope everyone else is doing well xx

botsytots · 24/01/2024 20:31

@Lebe14 thanks for checking in! The scan went well although my consultant wants my lining to be a bit thicker but expects it will catch up in time. He could see two follicles though which is needed for a natural FET. My next scan is Friday and I'm having daily blood tests to pin point my LH surge 😊

@Always28 haha Mumsnet makes it difficult to reply doesn't it! Well done on holding out until testing. It is so early so I agree with @Lebe14 that lack of symptoms is nothing to be concerned about this early. Will you be testing soon?

OP posts:
bathmatshowermat · 24/01/2024 21:13

@Lebe14 glad your scan went well and the lining is on its way to thickening up.

I also wrote individual replies to others, but have also just lost them 🙈

I don't know what's going on with me. I waited until the day before my test date last time, which was a really long wait because it was a 3 day embryo. This time? I tested again yesterday and today with not very concentrated afternoon urine. Yesterday looked negative, todays looked just about positive. I do not recommend this though! I am just really going crazy this time. Meds making me feel really low!

Bettinapink · 24/01/2024 22:23

@Lebe14, @Lyrabee and @lori2019 Thank you so much for your lovely responses. I think today I just hit a wall with it all today I really appreciate the support.
I ended up leaving work early and coming home and sleeping. I think I could cope with the wait if I didn’t feel so unwell! I am considering calling in sick the rest of the week.

I hope everyone else has had a more positive day. Sending everyone positive vibes! X

Lyrabee · 24/01/2024 22:26

Aww @Always28 if it helps I've had no symptoms except cramps. It's so hard not to Google everything and evaluate every feeling 😪

Remember every pregnancy is different 🩷
