@Honeybunie you can get flu and covid jab earlier but then after 16 weeks you get whooping cough, but I hadn't had any yet so got them all, thankfully feel back to normal today! :)

Tinkerbell098 · 03/02/2023 11:12

@ralno2 good luck today. Hope everything goes smoothly and recovery will be quick. Thinking of you X

@MinBins yes, I had the first part of my booking in appointment on Tuesday, which was over the phone. Basically asking a load of questions about my family history and medical conditions. Was quite quick, took about half an hour. Had the second part of it yesterday face to face. They took my height, weight, urine sample and bloods to run some tests. I was told that I will also have some appointments with the consultant, given it's an IVF pregnancy - @Imisscoffee2021 @Cat89 were you told this too? Also mentioned, that I would be induced if I go over 40 weeks, said something like, research shows that placentas in IVF aren't too efficient, so they wouldn't let the pregnancy go beyond 40 weeks. So I'm now patiently waiting for a letter with dates for my next scan. Was also recommended to have the flu jab, but I don't want to have this in first trimester, I think I'm just a bit paranoid. I think I will wait until I will take the whooping cough at 16-20 weeks and take both together.

@Cat89 aww how amazing you had your 12 week scan. Glad everything's fine X

@Imisscoffee2021 aww how cute you've got a little bump now! Have you felt any movements yet?

@Decaffe oh yey! That was quick! How long would the recovery be after the surgery? Glad the bloods came back OK too. Hopefully you can transfer your lovely blasts soon.

@seekingbabyk have a safe flight back home X

@1stcycle good luck for your scan X

@Honeybunie aww how many more weeks have you got to travel? Hope the traffic isn't too bad. Hang in there!

Thank you everyone 🙏🏼

Back home after a long morning! They collected 5 eggs. Which is what I was anticipating. I was hoping for 6 but hey ho - happy with that number consider my AFC initially was 6.

The clinic contacted me and would like me to start the cyclogest as if I was having a fresh transfer. They have booked me in for a monitoring scan on Monday - then they will decide if it can be fresh or frozen.

I have had a long think about it and I actually think frozen might be a better decision for us - we have had a trip to Australia booked for a while now in March so if I did conceive from the fresh egg transfer I would be travelling long haul 8 weeks pregnant. I know they say there are no known risks to travelling - just a lot to think about.

I think I’ll have a chat to the doc and Monday and then go from there.

thank you all for your support - it means a lot to have you all knowing we are all going/ have gone through the same thing.

seekingbabyk · 03/02/2023 15:52

@ralno2 that's a great result and I completed get it re travelling- you just don't know how you'll be feeling!

Fingers crossed for your update tomorrow x

Imisscoffee2021 · 03/02/2023 16:27

Great result @ralno2 , 5 out of 6 is amazing! Hope the next 5 days fly by for you :)

@Tinkerbell098 my ivf clinic and midwife haven't said anything about placenta efficiency and 40 weeks inducement at all! They just said you're a normal pregnant woman once you're discharged to NHS regardless of conception method. I was worried about my progesterone levels after coming off it and got a test done, normal is 80-260 is 2nd trimester and it was 1500! So placenta is clearly working, and my meds have built up a bit in system. Was worried at first but the Dr said it's not an issue at all and some women are on progesterone all pregnancy for MC and early labour avoidance. I guess it's good to have extra care though, I get a few extra visits as I have subclinical hyperthyroidism, barely, but enough to be on thyroxine.

Imisscoffee2021 · 03/02/2023 16:29

@Tinkerbell098 sorry forgot to reply but I thought I could feel some fluttering occasionally but may be gas at this stage! I have a posterior placenta so shoukd be able to feel him a bit earlier though. He's moving in every scan, does full somersaults as sometimes he's head down and sometimes head up, so hopefully not long now before I feel it :)

MinBins · 03/02/2023 17:06

That's great @ralno2 and keeping fingers crossed for you over the next 5 days!

Had such a faff-a-laff today. 😂

The clinic were supposed to send a prescription for ultrogestan a few days ago and my supply runs out tomorrow.

Called this morning to ask for an update and they sent a digital prescription that no pharmacy would accept. Then lots of back and forth with clinic and eventually I drove there to get a written prescription. Then drove to approx 5 chemists and called loads more. All out of stock or not supplied. Finally visited boots and they managed to order some to arrive tomorrow.

I've been given cyclogest in the meantime. It was like I did a chemist crawl as opposed to a pub crawl 😂😂

Honeybunie · 03/02/2023 17:29

aww well done @ralno2 for getting the EC done and great result :) Hope you're feeling okay. Best of luck for a great fertilisation rate! I also felt my frozen transfer was so much nicer compared to the fresh. And yeah with the travelling I'd probably also do it after such a big trip. But see what they say :)

haha @MinBins a chemist crawl 😂how things change! glad you got it sorted. what a nightmare.

@Imisscoffee2021 aahh i didn't realise you get a whooping cough jab. interesting. glad you're feeling better again :) I totally forgot about my flu jab. I couldn't during my three FET cycle attempts before Xmas, then totally forgot. might look into it. altho do you need it for the spring/summer?

@Tinkerbell098 few more weeks, i'm staying over atm as have to be in all week. then probs just one trip per week in march. that's why it would have been difficilt to fit IVF in as well lol. How odd that they treat you differently and incude you beyond 40 weeks?! wouldn't have thought that!

Tinkerbell098 · 03/02/2023 19:11

Girls I'm spotting! I'm terrified!

OP posts:
Honeybunie · 03/02/2023 20:09

Oh noooooo @Tinkerbell098 😱just a bit?

Honeybunie · 03/02/2023 20:18

@Tinkerbell098 one of my best friends had a proper bleed when she was well in I think 2-3 months and it ‘only‘ turned out her placenta had become slightly detached from her uterus. She was so scared and went to a& but all was fine in the end. Stay strong I’m sure you’ll be fine ❤

Imisscoffee2021 · 03/02/2023 20:49

@Tinkerbell098how much are you spotting? I had two gushes of red red blood at two separate occasions between 5 and 7 weeks, baby was fine. Could be a haematoma? Or cervical irritation from pessaries? It's so scary I know, hope you're OK xx

MinBins · 03/02/2023 21:32

Oh @Tinkerbell098 I hope you're okay and are staying calm (difficult I know and easier said that done) it could be many things and if it's brown spotting could be old blood too. Sending all positive thoughts to you.

Tinkerbell098 · 03/02/2023 23:00

Thanks for your messages girls. I was at a work colleagues birthday meal tonight and my mind was all over the place. I just found the spotting just before I left to the restaurant so kept thinking about it the whole time. They left for after drinks and I came home as I couldn't bear it anymore. Im still spotting. It's brown, but enough to seep on to a pad, so not just when wiping. This is how it started when I started to have a bleed after my miscarriage last time. So I'm really really terrified. No cramping though so I'm hoping it's nothing. I'll try and ring EPU tomorrow morning but not sure if I'd need a gp referral first.

OP posts:
MinBins · 03/02/2023 23:48

Hoping it's all okay @Tinkerbell098 and that's it's nothing, just some old blood that needed to come out, or minor spotting due to cervix changes. There are so many variables, but I understand our minds take us to the worst case scenario. Sending you hugs and lots of positive thoughts.

I'm sure you can call EPU directly in the morning and they should be able to advise. Where I live, they advise to call early so they can fit you in for a same day scan. 🤞🏼💖

seekingbabyk · 04/02/2023 07:09

Oh @Tinkerbell098 I'm sorry you have this going on - must be really scary! Definitely go to EPU even if it's just for reassurance. I think spotting and even full on bleeds can be really common as @Imisscoffee2021 knows so don't worry too much but it's definitely worth checking just so you're not worrying!x

Decaffe · 04/02/2023 08:18

Oh Tinkerbell I hope you can call EPU directly today and go in for some reassurance. I have friends who have spotted in early pregnancy and all was ok so I am hoping it’s normal and ok for you! Sending you a really big hug 🫂

@ralno2 great news on the egg collection yesterday and good luck for the fertilisation call today. I got five on my first round too 😊 I agree a FET in a couple of months sounds good.

Someone asked how long my recovery time is but I can’t scroll up else my phone will refresh and I lose everything I’ve written! 😅 The consultant said I’ll need 2-3 weeks’ recovery from my op depending on what they remove/how invasive it is. It actually feels really nice not having to do injections and be preoccupied with what stage of IVF I’m at etc so I might not necessarily be in a rush to do a transfer after it. I think it would be good to wait for a cycle or even two, to check things are back to normal down there. I’m also wanting to up my exercise and lose a few kg. So we’ll just see how it goes! 😁

Tinkerbell098 · 04/02/2023 09:14

Thanks everyone. What worries me is that it's constant flow. Not enough to fill a pad but it's constantly there on the pad and when wiping and it's been more than 12 hours now. I rang up EPU and they said it's more than likely it's the pessaries causing irritation. They wanted a gp referral first to make an appointment. So I rang up 111 and now at the out of hours gp. Hope I can get a referral, sometimes the gps in my area have been terrible.

OP posts:
seekingbabyk · 04/02/2023 09:24

@Tinkerbell098 is a private scan an option if not? I'm sure EPU will be amazing they are usually open weekends too so hopefully you'll know today/tomorrow

Tinkerbell098 · 04/02/2023 09:54

@seekingbabyk the gp was actually really good. He rang up EPU to request an urgent scan, however did warn me that I'm probably not in their criteria of urgent, which I understand. So they've given me an appointment for Wednesday morning. I'm going to monitor the spotting today and tomorrow and perhaps change the cyclogest to rectally to see if it helps. The doctor wasn't too concerned either with just brown discharge. Just really really hope it's nothing and it won't get any worse until Wednesday.

OP posts:
ralno2 · 04/02/2023 12:33

@Tinkerbell098
If you doc isn’t too concerned then I’m sure it’s nothing to worry about. Good that you have an appointment on Wednesday- that will give you peace of mind. I have heard that there can be some bleeding with cyclogest vaginally - personally not to be too vulgar I am finding rectally much easier. Once you change you may find that it was just that.

ralno2 · 04/02/2023 12:41

We got our call this morning - we fertilised 4 out of the 5 collected. We were happy with the number as I have endo/ low follicle count/ and my OH has sperm morphology issues.
just praying we get good quality blasts!

Decaffe · 04/02/2023 12:54

I had a terrible reaction to taking it vaginally, it made me bleed and so sore. I hope that’s all it is Tinkerbelle, see what you happens when you use them rectally, much less messy too I found!

That’s fantastic @ralno2! Mine were also 4/5 too!

Tinkerbell098 · 04/02/2023 12:54

@ralno2 that's amazing news! Was it ICSI or IVF? Good luck for the next update call X

EPU rang earlier and pushed the appointment forward to Tuesday. Really hoping the discharge will stay brown and not turn red. Getting random twinges on the right side of the lower abdomen. But nothing too painful.

OP posts:
ralno2 · 04/02/2023 12:59

Thank you @Decaffe @Tinkerbell098
Yes, we had ICSI.
