@seekingbabyk oh wow how amazing that you're in Egypt. How long are you there for? Sorry you're having trouble sleeping. Maybe being on holiday would help and a nice hotel bed. Have you got a lot of activities planned? Haha yea! No twins unfortunately! My OH isn't too keen on going for private scans and says I'm over worrying and told me off for worrying about stopping lubion from tomorrow. I'm ok for now. I've relaxed a little bit after Tuesdays scan. Not sure for how long! I've got a midwife appointment on Tuesday and depending on when they book the scan, I may get a private one in between. I'll just have to see how it goes. Still waiting for any symptoms to kick in, but nada!

@Tinkerbell098 you should consider yourself lucky with the symptoms! Hopefully you'll have a really smooth ride!

Just 9 nights and no we haven't planned anything to be honest. We moved house last year, two rounds of ivf, hosted a lot of Christmas so just feel like we need some chill time. It's about 25 degrees today so just enjoying not being completely frozen when walking outside to be honest!

MinBins · 27/01/2023 09:29

Good luck for the call today @Decaffe! I'm staying positive for you!

That's great news @Honeybunie must be so reassuring to know it's okay to take a break and that there's more ahead. Definitely spend the time on you and your well-being as you said!

Enjoy your holiday @seekingbabyk! Hope you get plenty of sunshine rest and relaxation . A break from the supplements sounded like just the thing for some extra sleep, have all of the fun! 💕

So Ive stepped up from being nervous about the scan next week to getting stressed. Google isn't helping either 😅

On a random note. I had to go into a different office yesterday w/long train travel and I forgot how bad the train rush was in our region - 2 out of 3 trains cancelled and a rush to get into the remaining train. 😭 (random note over 😂)

seekingbabyk · 27/01/2023 09:32

How could I forget! Good luck @Decaffe

@MinBins what day is your scan? Oh no that sounds awful! I hated commuting!x

1stcycle · 27/01/2023 09:36

Hi all! Sorry I have been a little incognito for a while, it was a busy end of year and it’s been mad in work and just taken some time to try and get myself ready for the next round (physically and mentally).

i‘be skimmed past the last few pages and it’s been lush to see some positive news and also some more joining the thread and their experiences.

For people who have joined since I’ve been a little quiet a short recap is that in September last year I did my first round of IVF which resulted in a fresh transfer but unfortunately no Frosties. We did get pregnant however that unfortunately turned into a CP early on. We took a few months break due to holidays and Christmas shut down in clinic and now we are starting our second round hopefully today!

I have my baseline scan this afternoon and if all goes well start stims today. I was on just gonal F last time but this time I am on gonal f then have to add menapour after a few days which will be interesting as I’ve heard it’s like being a chemist mixing it up, so any tips welcome haha!

I’m excited to start again but also very nervous!

Honeybunie · 27/01/2023 10:17

Best of luck for your phone call today @Decaffe I have everything crossed for you!

Uuuhhhh have the best time in Egypt @seekingbabyk ! How warm is it over there at the moment? End of March isn't too long now :) So you think the supplements are causing the lack of sleep? Do you know if any of your supplements have that side effect?

Scan was on 1st of Feb wasn't it @MinBins ? It must be nerve wrecking, but hope you can find some distraction over the weekend and with work. any symptoms yet?

@Tinkerbell098 exciting about your midwife appointment next Tuesday :) another milestone reached

yay for starting again @1stcycle ! best of luck! let's see how you get on with the added menopur. I was on menopur only, and will be again next round. I got the hang of mixing quite quickly, it was actually fun haha. I think i was on 300, so 4 to 1 water. how about you?

seekingbabyk · 27/01/2023 10:20

@Spin101 awww good to have you back - best of luck with this round. It'll be interesting to see the effect the combination of meds makes!

@Honeybunie it's 24 at the moment and sunny which is lovely! I read that the COQ10 can cause it actually. I'm thinking just keep going and eventually it'll wear off. I'm not going to stop taking it - I'll just get through the next 7 weeks! I only have about 7 hours a night anyway so I can cope with 6 lol x

Honeybunie · 27/01/2023 10:28

@seekingbabyk oohh 24 degrees sound lovely! is the sea warm as well?
haha 6 down from 7 doesnt seem too bad. and it'll be worth it :) I haven't had any issues/symptoms since starting my supplements which I'm very glad about - the amount i take i thought my body must go into a shock haha.

Tinkerbell098 · 27/01/2023 10:31

@seekingbabyk awww walking in 25C sunshine sounds so good, especially as it's freezing here and I've got a cold. Have the best time relaxing and you'll feel all refreshed.

@MinBins oh commuting really does suck! Hope it was just a one-off journey. Not too long now for your scan! Hang in there! I found the weekend before the scan went quite fast, so dragged less. Hope it's the same for you.

@Decaffe all the best for the phone call today. Thinking of you X

@1stcycle good to hear from you again. That's great you'll be starting today. Good luck for the scan. I was also on menopur. My OH did all the mixing and jabbing. He did say it's like doing a science experiment and he missed it when it was over 😂.

OP posts:
seekingbabyk · 27/01/2023 12:56

@Honeybunie not sure about the sea tbh - pools are lovely though!

Awww @Tinkerbell098 hope you feel better soon x

MinBins · 27/01/2023 13:35

It's next Wednesday @seekingbabyk - luckily I don't have to commute often but when it's regional travel it's pretty bad. 24 degrees sound so good right now (as I look out at the grey rain ☔️ 😂 have lots of fun!

Good luck on your scan today @1stcycle and hope your stims go well. I was originally on Meriofert and I had to mix vials etc before the injection. I felt like a chemist too and those first few tries I used to triple check if I had left any drops in there. 😅

Thanks @Honeybunie, it is! I'm going to try not to think about it 🙈 no symptoms yet - just hunger when I wake and slightly sore boobs but nothing major. No sickness or anything. This morning I didn't have anything other than hunger - so not sure if that's a symptom or just me being hungry - for breakfast today I had veggie sausage, egg and spinach toastie and it.hit.the.spot 😂

@Tinkerbell098 thank you I hope it does too! I used to love travelling - with my previous job I was all over the country but since lockdown I've found a love for staying comfy and away from train cancellations and delays 😂luckily it's not often with this job just once or twice a month. 💕 how are you feeling?

Tinkerbell098 · 27/01/2023 13:51

@MinBins don't worry about symptoms as I have none yet and I think I'm a week ahead of you. Nurse said it's not uncommon for a lot of women to have a smooth 1 st trimester. But that's not to say that symptoms will start later on maybe in my 9th week or so. Just trying to recover from my cold now. I'm much better, but still really blocked up around my nose and back of throat. I haven't taken any medication and staying away from lemsip, strepsils and cough syrup as I've read mixed things online. So I'm trying to just stick to ginger honey and lemon teas etc. if I'm not 100% by Sunday I'll go to the chemist to ask for something pregnancy friendly. I can't even taste much so eating anything is a real struggle.

OP posts:
MinBins · 27/01/2023 15:46

Ah hope the cold goes away for you. I was in early stages of catching something this morning - had a sore throat last night likely from commute. I think vicks vaporub is safe, and a humidifier maybe - winters are so bad for bugs and colds - hope the ginger and lemon teas make a difference.

Thank you - symptoms wise, I think if I'm left to my own devices I become less hopeful and overthink. But I'm keeping myself busy and trying not to worry before Wednesday.

Hope your midwife meeting goes well on Tuesday! And definitely go for early scan if you feel like it - I think the 12 week scan would fall end of Feb/early March and that seems ages away 😅

MinBins · 27/01/2023 15:47

@Tinkerbell098 forever forgetting to tag 😂👇🏼

1stcycle · 27/01/2023 16:15

thanks all, it’s good to be back on here in this safe space!
@Honeybunie im not sure what dose I’m on yet on menapour but only got 600iu so maybe it will just be small doses on top of my gonal f. But sounds like you all enjoyed mixing it up so I’m sure it will be fun.

Scan went good, one follicle a little larger than would have liked (same as before when I had to postpone first round so I was nervous when she went to check with the doctor if I could start as be gutted to postpone again) but luckily had the go ahead and starting stims on tomorrow with first scan booked then for wed. So I’m on 300 gonal f until wed, I was 225 last time.

So I’m off for some sushi tonight as might be last time I can for a while fingers crossed!

Decaffe · 27/01/2023 17:52

Hi all just a quick one, not sure what to make of it really. We had 2x 8 cells, 1x7 and 1x6 on Day three. The others only had 4 or 5 cells so were out of the running.

Well at the end of the day today I got a call to say that none were freezable today. On the blastocyst grading scale of 1-6, it needs to be a 3 before they can start to assign the alphabetical grades (e.g. 3BC or 5AB). Well, we have one embryo that’s between 2-3 and five(?!) that are between 1-2.

So we’re going to wait for the six to continue growing overnight and then at 9am they’ll check them and see which are 3+ in size and at least a C grade.

Not quite the birthday present I was expecting? Or is it?! DH’s view is that the four good ones from Day 3 have slowed down but then I said doesn’t it also mean two of the written off ones have sort of recovered?! Genuinely not sure, has anyone been in a similar situation or had any Day 6 embryos before?

Lovely to see you again @1stcycle and best of luck for this round!

Very envious of Egypt! Warm weather seems so distant right now!

I can’t scroll up as I’m on my phone and thought it had lost all I’d written just then! But happy Friday everyone, hope you’re having a good evening. Thanks for checking in on me this morning. 💜

seekingbabyk · 27/01/2023 18:04

Hi @Decaffe - wow that was a lot of news! I have seen plenty of people who have never had anything but ray 6 or day 7 blasts so don't worry! I think we all assume day 5. My second one last round was one we were waiting on for say 6 but it was actually a day 5 1/2 in the end so anything could happen between now and tomorrow morning. I'm sorry you didn't get a really positive result but as you say it could be an amazing result still too! Happy birthday and still keeping everything crossed for tomorrow xxx

Decaffe · 27/01/2023 22:28

Thank you 😘

ralno2 · 28/01/2023 06:40

Morning All,

I am on day 7 of Menopur today. I had my scan yesterday and my doctor has asked me to start my fyremadel yesterday. She also upped my dose of Menopur to 450iu.

I have 6 follicles in total - but only 2 were in range to start the fyremadel. Looks like I could be going in for egg retrieval with only 2-4 follicles.

Has anyone had success with low follicle number?

Decaffe · 28/01/2023 10:20

Is Fyremadel your trigger shot @ralno2? I read so many threads on here at the start of IVF looking for looking for success stories for low follicle count, as my clinic goes for a ‘quality over quantity’ approach.
There were so many! I think as our bodies naturally select a lead follicle, and often women will end up with ‘just’ that one blastocyst, no matter how many eggs are collected! 😊 I have everything crossed for you.

ralno2 · 28/01/2023 10:43

Thank you 😊 @Decaffe

Fyremadel is to prevent the eggs being released prematurely. I have Ovitrelle for my trigger shot, all going to plan I should be taking that Tuesday and egg retrieval Wednesday/ Thursday.

Im really trying to keep to the mantra “it only takes one!” But I suppose it’s human nature to think of all of the other possible outcomes.

we have gone private because the NHS don’t offer in my area and we are now way above the initial price quoted because of having to increase my Menopur etc. Menopur is extortionate

Decaffe · 28/01/2023 11:37

Three in the freezer! A 4BC, 5BC and a 5CC; the latter she said wasn’t the best but they still think it could be in with a chance. Cried when I heard.

seekingbabyk · 28/01/2023 11:45

Wow @Decaffe that's amazing I am so so happy for you! There are plenty of babies running around who were 5CC so don't think about the grades too much but if they thought it was worth freezing that's amazing ❤️

Tinkerbell098 · 28/01/2023 11:46

@Decaffe that's amazing!! I'm crying out in joy for you! What a turnaround. Go embabies ❤️

OP posts:
MinBins · 28/01/2023 13:13

That's great news @Decaffe - such a positive turnaround!

Hope you stay positive @ralno2, I know it can play on our minds.

What are your next steps @Decaffe? Will you be taking a break, before transfer?
