Hi ladies! 👋
Just as the post says... cycle day 1 of my first IVF round, 20 days until I start Norethisterone then Menopur & Fyremadel.
Looking for others starting cycle or in the cycle for some company.
Sending lots of luck to you all! ❤️

Thanks @Imisscoffee2021 I hope so too! I've had scans every 3-4 days, and I'll be back again as they monitor growth. The nurse kept reassuring me it was okay, but that it may take a little longer.

Good luck for your transfer!

Decaffe · 16/10/2022 12:07

Afraid it wasn’t meant to be for us this month 🤍

Had some news from my latest scan. Only two follicles have grown and they suspect the dose was too low from the beginning.

They're considering stopping this cycle and then starting again at a higher dose. Or on a different protocol. Waiting for a call from the doctor to review.

It's disappointing (booo and that disappointing feeling sucks!) but I guess I have to look on the positive side that we try again.

seekingbabyk · 18/10/2022 10:05

@MinBins oh no I'm sorry but yes it's good that you get to try again hopefully next month! What dose were you on and was it menopur?

MinBins · 18/10/2022 10:42

@seekingbabyk ah thank you - it feels pants but I'm trying to stay positive - I'll feel better hopefully in a day or so. I was on Meriofert 150ml and Fermadyl. They said I was high risk of OHSS so had me on a lower dose, and next cycle they'll put me on a different medication and at a higher dose.

Tinkerbell098 · 18/10/2022 10:48

@MinBins aww I'm sorry to hear that but it is probably for the best that they stop this cycle. It's good they will do another one. Would it be on the same funding? First cycle is always trial and error so seems like they are going to tweak the next one, which is good. All the best X

Decaffe · 18/10/2022 11:01

Hi @MinBins I can imagine how frustrating that feels. I think it’s good that they have stopped it now though rather than waiting until a disappointing egg collection. It is hard isn’t it as you build it up in your head, you plan out all the dates and so on.

Have they said if you’ll be able to start again in your very next cycle or do they want you to have a month off? And are they going to class this as a cycle or a failed cycle, definitely check with them.

Big love xx

1stcycle · 18/10/2022 11:16

@MinBins Im sorry you might have to stop your cycle. It is disappointing when you get yourself worked up for the cycle. But like others have said it is better to do it that way than get more disappointed at egg collection. Fingers crossed a better dosage will make the next cycle more responsive.

I had my follow up consultation today. The doctor went through everything and was happy that the egg implanted so we know it can just unfortunate that it lead to a chemical. But she said we will be changing my protocol as my follicles were not consistent. I had a group of bigger ones and then a big group of too small ones so wants to change the medication so they are more even. So I will be on gonal f and menopur (was just on gonal F last time) She is also adding another trigger so hopefully more eggs are mature as only 5 out of the 9 eggs collected were mature.

We talked about when was best to do the next round and with me being away next month and then Christmas shutdown she agreed with me that January cycle would be best. So said to enjoy end of year now and enjoy Christmas then start the new year fresh with a cycle.

the journey continues!

MinBins · 18/10/2022 11:37

Thank you @Tinkerbell098 thankfully it would be the same funding. We went with a private plan and they have said cycle is only complete when all eggs are transferred. We'll have to pay for new meds and also a fee. The one bonus is that they said the next round of injections won't have to be mixed together - they'll come ready to inject. (Small wins - I'm reaching now I know haha).

MinBins · 18/10/2022 11:40

Thanks @Decaffe you're spot on - I'd started planning the dates and got excited. But it's a long game and a rollercoaster of emotions so I think I'll have to keep that mindset. And hope the next round is better. I have to wait a cycle so it'll be the one after this one, likely Nov/Dec time.

MinBins · 18/10/2022 11:43

Thanks @1stcycle ah I hope you have a wonderful time over the next months and you'll be refreshed before your cycle in January. It's such a learning game of what works and doesn't in terms of meds - I felt that today - and fingers crossed for the next time to be better.

Tinkerbell098 · 18/10/2022 13:03

@MinBins that's great you have funding and they don't treat it as a completed cycle. I'm sure with my NHS round, they said if a cycle has to be cancelled, the funding will end there, which was really rubbish! It's great you have a good package. Bonus that you won't need to mix the meds! It felt like a chemistry experiment when we had to do it. All sounds promising and they have a plan for you, which is great!

@1stcycle enjoy the rest of the year off ivf stress and that plan sounds good! They sound very helpful and encouraging. Who knows? You may even fall naturally in the next couple of months? I've heard so many stories like that. All the best X

1stcycle · 18/10/2022 13:53

@MinBins thanks, yes it’s trail and error really, finding out what medication you respond to best so no surprise that many don’t have the best results first go!

@Tinkerbell098 yes who knows we might be lucky!
My doctor also suggested taking Coenzyme q 300mg as well as can improve egg quality or something, has anyone taken it? I noticed there is some in my proceive tablets but only 25mg so orderd some 100mg capsules and will give them a go.

MinBins · 18/10/2022 14:02

Thanks @1stcycle totally right. Will see how the next time goes.

I've been taking it, I have the Q10 Green and alongside some other vitamins. It's supposed to be helpful, though I asked my nurse and she said that it takes a long time to take effect. I was confused on which brand to get but settled on the one above.

Tinkerbell098 · 18/10/2022 14:03

@1stcycle yes I took CoQ10 and so did hubby. They are so expensive! I was also on proceive.

1stcycle · 18/10/2022 14:59

@MinBins @Tinkerbell098 ahh that’s great you guys have taken it.

I know it gets so expensive with all the supplements but I got them from holland and Barrett and they do buy one get one half price so got 2 months ready now and had the second months half price so small wins lol!

Imisscoffee2021 · 18/10/2022 16:54

@1stcycle I took and still take coq10, ia that the same thing? Take a high dose once a day :) just throwing the kitchen sink at it and taking anything that can help, I've added a high dose vit d this time to aid implantation. Great they're going into so much detail with next cycle, must be reassuring!

@MinBins so sorry you're cycle isn't progressing, but so worth the wait and to do it totally right and make every follicle count xx

Imisscoffee2021 · 18/10/2022 16:56

How are you getting on @Tinkerbell098 ? Feeling any first trimester symtpoms yet? My friends who got pregnant this year (this was a baby bomb year!) all had severe nausea really early on, even a matter of weeks in!
