Did you do it ?

SE765 · 12/04/2023 23:31

Hello,
I was wondering if you ever decided to go ahead with this treatment? If so, did it have any positive effects for you?
Many thanks…

SE765 · 12/04/2023 23:37

I’m considering this treatment but can’t find any real advice regarding it. The IVF treatment facility I’m with doesn’t recommend it but I'm not convinced they’re saying that out of concern or the fact it’s not offered in the U.K. and they can’t charge me an arm and a leg for it.

clhiu · 21/05/2023 10:04

Hello, really interested in this topic too if anybody has any experience? PRP especially, if you know of any UK clinics offering this. Thanks in advance

SE765 · 21/05/2023 22:43

UPDATE: 21.05.23
So after doing my research I found PRP is not offered in the U.K. at all. As it is such a new treatment (around 2 years I think but don’t quote me) the U.K. haven’t passed legislation on it as studies are too small. My partner and I found a clinic in Athens that does it and after a consultation decided to get a cheap flight, Airbnb and go ahead with the procedure. There is a lot of different information out there but the consultant informed me it’s usually the 2nd cycle after treatment that provides the best results for them in their clinic. I had the treatment completed 3 days ago. The clinic was super efficient and gave me a thorough face to face consultation, a much needed hysteroscopy and PRP treatment over the space of 2 days. The feeling afterwards is similar to undergoing an egg collection. I’ll be going ahead with 2 rounds of egg collection so I’ll keep you all updated whether there’s been an improvement with quality/quantity over the next few months…

Hello @SE765
Many thanks for the update and well done for going ahead with it! Hope it works and looking forward to your next update!
Do you mind sharing some of your details etc age, AMH etc. Thanks and fingers crossed 🤞

Sunflowerkiki · 02/07/2023 13:28

Hi
I'm also interested to know more about your journey since havi g the treatment @SE765.
Has it improved your egg quality and numbers?
Thanks xx

Babystars321 · 02/07/2023 16:39

Hi I’m the original poster! Apologies, I hadn’t realised there had been further comments.
After much research I came to the conclusion that success seems to correlate with age- so if someone is fairly young but has low reserve prp could be potentially successful. Where age is the factor (causing low reserve due to peri/menopause) prp is less likely to work and donor eggs are a better option. Hope this helps and of course everyone’s cases are different/has different opinions. Good luck! Xx

I'm having fertility treatment overseas and they have 2 different types of prp depending on what you need. Ovarian, which for me, they said no as i have endometriosis. They'd look to do uterine prp should I need it post transfer. They are 1 of 3 clinics which I found do this.i spoke to my UK clinic about doing it and they had no issues when i was still with them

I haven't had it done as it will be dependent on whether or not its needed.

One a side note my husband had prp to repair a tennis elbow type injury and after 3 sessions he's back to normal.

Istituto bernabeu in spain
Isis in Cypris
Nadezhda in Bulgaria all have it available

Sunflowerkiki · 02/07/2023 22:49

Thank you ladies!

SE765 · 03/07/2023 01:50

Hello all!
In answer to your questions I'm 44 and really PRP was a last chance option for me after 5 unsuccessful rounds of egg collections. I was supposed to wait until my 2nd period after the PRP treatment for maximum effect but I didn't want to wait and went straight into preparing for egg collection with my 1st period. I wouldn't say I had a higher quantity of eggs after the PRP (they collected 6 eggs and 5 fertilised) but it seems i had 2 excellent quality blastocysts, 2 good and 1 poor which were better results than my previous cycles. My clinic in Athens has given me a completely different protocol from the clinics I used in Spain and the U.K. I didn't go for the pgd-a test this time so nothing was frozen. The 4 fertilised eggs were transferred back into my uterus after 2 days and 2 weeks later I can't believe I just tested positive on a pregnancy test! It's super early days so I don't want to get too excited yet but this is the furthest I've come on this journey. I'm not sure if it's the different protocol or the PRP that's gotten me here but I'm glad I took the risk. I've still a long way to go but I'll keep you posted.

Sunflowerkiki · 03/07/2023 05:22

That's fantastic @SE765 !!! Congratulations, I'm really wishing you the best outcome and that you'll have your baby or babies home!
I'm 40, also had 5 rounds of IVF, 2 in the UK and 3 in Brazil. Got only 9 eggs all 5 rounds combined and just 2 blastocyst. Didn't test them as wanted to avoid any possible damage. Got both transfered in June but unfortunately a negative test.
Heart broken and financially broken.
My amh was 0.2 in Jan 2022. Haven't tested since. PRP sounds interesting and I wish I had heard of it before I did my rounds. Anyway, I think I'm too late for the party and not sure I can do ivf again. But interesting about the different protocol you had in Greece. I wonder what it was.
I might have to move on to an egg donor, although hubby not convinced...

Congratulations SE765. Wonderful news! Keep us updated! Xx

Hi @SE765 how amazing, huge congratulations! They even transferred all 4 embryos:) do you know what grades they were? Do you mind sharing what your protocol was? At what time of the cycle is the PRP done?

I don't understand why if the treatment has been used for so long to treat other areas of the body they are so slow to approve it for ovaries!

All the best and please keep us updated, perhaps it's a multiple pregnancy? :) Fingers crossed it goes well!

Summerishere83 · 03/07/2023 07:15

Hello @Rosequartzz thanks for the info on which clinics offer this, I'll look into this, good luck! :)

Sunshinebytheseaside · 03/07/2023 17:26

Congratulations @SE765 that’s amazing! Would you mind sharing how your protocol was different with the Athens clinic? All the clinics I have spoken on seem to be variations on a theme so something radically different is very appealing! Best wishes for a healthy pregnancy.

Rosequartzz · 14/08/2023 09:45

@Summerishere83 I had spoken to my UK clinic about wanting to do this and they referred me to ISIS Cyprus, I have also since found the following clinics do it: Nadezdha (Bulgaria - this is who I am with), Instituto Bernabeu (Spain), there was another is Spain who's name I have forgotten.
Also, my previous clinic in UK might now be offering it which is Lister Clinic

Summerishere83 · 14/08/2023 16:00

Hi @Rosequartzz thank you for the update! How is your treatment going? Why did you choose Nadezdha? Does it mean you have to be in Bulgaria for 3 weeks while doing IVF too or they can do PRP as a stand alone treatment? How much does it cost btw?
All the best xx

Rosequartzz · 14/08/2023 17:01

Treatment has not yet taken off as they want things to be at an optimal level before getting the go ahead. Their level of communication and expertise, advances all are what made me chose them. I met with them at the Fertility show along with many others. I was drawn to them due to the options they were able to provide for treatment given I'm not the most straight forward case and have many unsuccessful cycles here with a great clinic. I went there initially for 2 days for some initial tests. The flights, hotel, spending, tests cost a third of the price of just tests in the UK. When its time for IVF they will tell me how long I will need to be there. Some are there for a week, 2 weeks- all depends on what protocol you are on.
One lady who was out there recently had Ovarian PRP and valproic injections on the same say as EC.
I'm so sorry I don't know the cost. You can email them to find out

Summerishere83 · 14/08/2023 20:16

Hi @Rosequartzz thanks so much for the information! I met representatives from Nadezdha last year at the fertility fair too. What is valproate injection for?
Hope you can start soon and everything goes well xx

Rosequartzz · 16/08/2023 08:55

Thank you @Summerishere83 Valproic is used for adenomyosis treatment . How did you find Nadezdha and who did you speak with ?

Summerishere83 · 16/08/2023 10:16

Hi @Rosequartzz wow that's strange as it seems valproic acid is very dangerous for pregnancy but they know that and know what they're doing. I spoke to Prof Stamenov from Nadezdha last year but went with Create with a embryo banking 3 cycle package. The other day I called Nadezdha to find out if PRP is done as a stand alone treatment which it isn't unfortunately. Currently I'm in the middle of the last egg collection cycle with Create so I'm just collecting information for what to do next in case it doesn't work.
Thanks and fingers crossed everything works out in the end xx

Rosequartzz · 16/08/2023 11:12

Fingers crossed it all goes well. They do Valproic as part of EC not during the pregnancy. ISIS in Cyprus do it as stand alone they quoted me Euro 800 this was in Jan and their consultation was free.

Summerishere83 · 16/08/2023 17:51

Hello @Rosequartzz many thanks for the information, in that case if things come to that it would be easier to go with ISIS in Cyprus and perhaps do a cycle with a clinic in the UK. All the best! xx

Rosequartzz · 23/08/2023 10:44

FYI Cyprus ISIS is associated with a UK clinic
