I can't believe I get to take photos like this. He's a dream!
The PRP treatment didn't hurt any more than a regular egg collection btw.

So beautiful to hear your story! A huge congratulations to you and your lovely family 🥰❤️🥰❤️ thank you xx

@HiroshimaBaby @thanksinadvance apologies for not responding directly sooner. I've just left a response to @Cloclo93 above. I went to Serum in Athens and it was a resounding success. Sending you all my love and good luck vibes... you're all super strong and you got this!!!

@SE765 fantastic news! By the way, did you do the PRP and IVF with them? How far apart were the two treatments? Was it difficult logistically or just like a preliminary IVF consultation in terms of planning? Thanks again for getting back on this, really helpful 👍🏻👍🏻👍🏻

SE765 · 15/06/2024 11:04

Yes I did both. I was supposed to leave 2 months between the PRP and IVF but I was impatient and went for it when my next period started! I was lucky my job didn't mind me zooming off at the drop of a hat and cheap flights and Airbnb's were always easy to find. The PRP was straightforward. Similar to an egg collection where afterwards you just feel like it's a bad day of period cramps. Nothing you can't handle. I'm not sure if you've gone through an IVF cycle yet? I purchased most of my meds in Greece and they gave me a letter so I could travel with them. Get yourself a thermal bag (mine was approx 30x20x20cm) and some ice packs to keep the meds cool during transport (you're allowed this as an extra piece to take on board flights). As I couldn't take a whole IVF cycle off from work I found someone in London to do initial follicle scans (day 1 of period) and Serum told me when to start with meds. When the eggs got to a certain size (for me it was just over a week) I travelled over to Athens to complete the cycle. We were lucky my partner could work from his laptop so his work was barely affected. I hope I haven't gone off on a tangent?! Serum were great and walk you through everything. You will need a doctor back in the U.K. to follow up with scans (there are loads and you don't need to pay ridiculous prices) and review your meds but in all honesty I stuck with Serum's protocol. It was heavy on the meds in my case with 2x blood thinners and steroids as well as hormones and melanin but I have a lovely baby boy out of it. Serum deal with international patients all the time so they will defo be able to guide you through your personal case with ease.

UPDATE: 21.05.23
So after doing my research I found PRP is not offered in the U.K. at all. As it is such a new treatment (around 2 years I think but don’t quote me) the U.K. haven’t passed legislation on it as studies are too small. My partner and I found a clinic in Athens that does it and after a consultation decided to get a cheap flight, Airbnb and go ahead with the procedure. There is a lot of different information out there but the consultant informed me it’s usually the 2nd cycle after treatment that provides the best results for them in their clinic. I had the treatment completed 3 days ago. The clinic was super efficient and gave me a thorough face to face consultation, a much needed hysteroscopy and PRP treatment over the space of 2 days. The feeling afterwards is similar to undergoing an egg collection. I’ll be going ahead with 2 rounds of egg collection so I’ll keep you all updated whether there’s been an improvement with quality/quantity over the next few months…

Hi SE765 that's so good news. Congrats! I hope all is well with you. Could you please share which clinic did you use for PRP and if the previous 5 IVF cycles you got a blastocyst? I am asking because for me is about egg quality. I have a good reserve number. 10.5 when I was 39 years but never reached a single blastocyst.

SE765 · 23/09/2024 13:56

Hi over40ppp I went to a clinic named Serum in Athens.
Back to beginning, I got 2 blastocysts in the first 2 rounds in the clinic I went to in Spain but after freezing them on days 5 and genetically testing, they said they were fragmented and not quite good enough quality to use. I then came back to London and proceeded to pay an extortionate amount of money for 3 rounds (following a new protocol with a minimal amount of meds but still freezing and genetically testing) which amounted to absolutely nothing. I got a decent amount of eggs collected, 50% turned into blastocysts and they seemed to do well until day 3 when they all crashed and burned by day 5/6. So none were even good enough to freeze and carry out genetic testing on. It didn't sit right with me that everything had dramatically gotten that bad so suddenly from one clinic to the next. What the rogues didn't tell me until the last round was that my partner's fertility had dropped slightly... they made out it wasn't a big deal as I was having ICSI and the issue stemmed from my bad eggs.
Serum didn't mess about. My partner and I have never taken so many meds! He was put on a month long course of antibiotics, I also had a hysteroscopy and cuts were made in the lining of my uterus to create a better surface area for a blastocyst to embed itself. I had my PRP and instead of waiting the recommended 2 months I went for IVF when my next period started. My egg quantity went down a little but I'm sure you've already read in the thread that by day 2, 5eggs had fertilised and as i decided not to go ahead with genetic testing, they gave me a choice of having up to 4 placed back in my uterus. They said it was a better environment for them to develop than a petri-dish and they were right! I realise my situation is slightly different but my point is that perhaps the clinic you were in followed a different protocol that didn't give your eggs a chance? Serum really don't mess about and I'm so glad I took one last chance. Do your research, but what I found was that after following 3 different protocols in 3 different countries, there were better results with more meds and minimal disruption to the actual eggs.
Wishing you all the very best ❤️❤️❤️

Thank you SE765 for sharing your experience - quite inspiring! :) Did you transfer on day 3 or 5? Can you also share (maybe private) what was your clinic in London? thanks. I am heading to serum this week so fingers crossed!

SE765 · 24/09/2024 03:56

The fertilised eggs were barely day 3 (so at the morula stage and not yet blastocysts). Everything happened so fast! Which is good for me as I panic when I have too much time to think! 😅
I'll private message you...

Hi @Vicky81B thank you for sharing with us. Could you pls tell us what was the name of the doctor?

Hello there. May I ask if anyone on this thread was given Neupogen as part of the PRP process? I’m a little startled having only heard from the nurse at the point of booking the baseline scan that I need that added to the protocol as it apparently improves the quality of the plasma, yet I believe it to be a rather serious drug so I’m concerned about side effects etc…I didn’t really expect drugs to be needed for it at all, but I’m told by Gorgy’s clinic in the UK I need Fostimon, Prednisolone and Neupogen. Kindly advise on medication if you can

Hi @clhiu

Could you tell me if you had the PRP treatment with Dr Gorgy? If so how was your experience?

I've just had a consultation with him and he's advised I have two treatments a month apart and that I will need to take some drugs to prepare for the procedure.
