Anyone out there currently going through IVF, start my stims in a couple of days. Had my down reg scan today and I have 4 follicles on my left and 5 on my right, wasn't sure if this was good or not, I've just turned 40 as this is my first cycle.

Unexplained infertility, many thanks ☺️

@Chippychippy I had my collection on Thursday and was in a fair bit of discomfort Thursday and yesterday but all ok today. Keep drinking plenty of fluids to help reduce risk of OHSS and give your clinic a call if it isn’t settling!!

Chippychippy · 26/03/2022 13:07

@LT103 thank you! 🙏🏽 the doctor called and told me I havn't been having enough pain killers so have upped them now

Chippychippy · 26/03/2022 13:12

@LT103 have you heard back about fertilisation yet?

@Elle147 yes! They just called...7 fertilised out of 8. 🙏🏽
I hope you're feeling ok darling xx are you keeping yourself busy? It's so hard to make it all you think about isn't it 😋

Lots of love to you all- hope you're enjoying the weather xx

LT103 · 26/03/2022 13:52

@Chippychippy yes we were super lucky in that all 9 eggs fertilised. But now panicking about the next step!! We get an update on Monday (day 4) then again on tuesday

Chippychippy · 27/03/2022 08:23

Thinking of you all this Mother's Day ✨🌞 positive thoughts that we will all be mothers this time next year. X x x x x x

flowersinmay · 27/03/2022 09:41

Thanks everyone for your kind wishes. I just still can't believe I did 13 injections all for it to be cancelled. It's still devastating! Just about feeling a bit normal again now after feeling poorly for the last few days. Trying to think that it just wasn't my time and it's somehow fate and meant to be. @Colourfulliving we got this 🤞

Hope everyone is doing ok? 🌸

I now have the next dilemma, looks like we will restart beginning of May, (pending AF showing up) but my DP has to go on a work trip - a few days in first week and a few days in second week of May. I'm now really worried about having to do the injections on my own (as he did them all last time). Am I being ridiculous? Anyone have any tips? Also concerned he will somehow catch Covid and we will be back to square one. Argh this worry never ends!

Elle147 · 27/03/2022 18:09

@Chippychippy Wow, 7 out of 8 - that’s amazing! So happy for you!

@flowersinmay Honestly, once you get started with the injections doing them yourself you will be fine. I think the anxiety of doing them is much worse that actually doing them, if that makes sense? Do you have any close friends / family that could help whilst your DP is away? Completely understandable that you are worried.

So today is my second OTD (still annoyed about that aha) and thankfully still BFP. Let’s hope the clinic book my scan in when I ring tomorrow! For some reason I still don’t believe I’m pregnant, even though I have back pain and cramps daily!

Emmyanddreams · 28/03/2022 09:07

@Chippychippy & @LT103 I hope you both get a good update today 🤞

@Elle147 how exciting. Let us know when your scan will be.

@flowersinmay that's such a shame he will be away, and I totally understand how anxious you must feel to be doing it on your own. The first time I did an injection was before IVF when they prescribed with with Lubion progesterone injections. I was so jittery thinking I can't do it, and it made me feel a bit light headed. However once that first one was done I was absolutely fine. So even though it's super scary, you get used to it so quickly 😊

I'm feeling a bit paranoid at the moment as the last few days I've had a mild dull ache around where I think my right ovary is. It's not painful and if I'm busy I don't notice it. But obviously I start panicking thinking oh god it's ectopic or something! Think I might call the clinic just incase it's something to worry about x

Colourfulliving · 28/03/2022 09:13

@flowersinmay hey regarding injections, I have super health anxiety and have been affraid of needles my whole life but leading up to my first cycle I came to terms with it emotionally, I told myself everyday that I would be able to do them on my own and that this was a really important achievement for me. The first time wasnt great but when do we ever get anything right first time. It's all about practice makes perfect and a couple of days in I felt like I should have been a nurse 🤣. It's all about self belief and you can do this! It's gets easier every day I promise, you just need to start to believe in yourself and you will be fine. I've had my period which was on schedule, roll on May 🤞 X

Looking forward to hearing good news from you other ladies this week x

@Emmyanddreams Just spoke with the clinic, my scan is the 20th April - feels soo far away. Not sure how I can wait 3 weeks but I don’t have much choice! I’m going in tomorrow for more meds though so at least I can chat to them about any worries!

Plan of action - keep busy for three weeks! Going to renovate our bedroom so that’s something for me to focus on :)

Chippychippy · 28/03/2022 10:58

Hey lovely ladies.

@flowersinmay I heard that using an ice pack really helps to numb the skin first so you can barely feel it! ✨ good luck darling! Xx

@Emmyanddreams do you have a scan today?

@LT103 good luck for your results today babe! Xx
Yes I do have OHSS they think. Day 3 and still feels like Iv been punched in the stomach.

Would love to hear you girls thoughts on this...

On the day of egg transfer, if our body is still feeling OHSS and healing from that...then it might be worth freezing the embabies, healing for a cycle and then popping them in when you're in a good state?

I just feel like our body would be focusing on healing and maybe not enough energy to help grow a baby... 🧐 what do you think?

Emmyanddreams · 28/03/2022 12:49

@Chippychippy sorry to hear you're feeling awful.
In terms of what to do when it comes to transfer day, I would personally take the advice from the clinic. They won't let the transfer happen if they thought you were at risk. However it's your call and if you really don't feel like your body is ready then let the clinic know.

@Elle147 oh cool, that's just a day after mine. I know what you mean though, it's going to drag isn't it! Focusing on the bathroom will definitely help.

I spoke to my clinic earlier and the nurse really reassured me. She said she's not worried at all. She said it's very normal and that my ovaries will still be swollen and for some it takes quite a few weeks for them to go down. So trying to relax a bit now xx

LT103 · 28/03/2022 13:45

@Chippychippy I think if you have mild ohss and get a bfp it can get a lot worse.

LT103 · 28/03/2022 13:46

Ive had my day 4 call
Of my 9, 5 are already compacting and starting to form blastocyst. 1 is pretty slow and likely out and the other 3 are progressing but a little slower than the 5.
So it’s just a wait and see. Obviously because I’m a freeze all I need good quality blastocysts to be able to be frozen! Just a waiting game!! As always!!!

Turning40andstartingIVF · 28/03/2022 13:50

Hey sorry for jumping in here. I can see you're all my age (I'm 40 in the summer) and I'm about to start my first round of IVF. Unexplained infertility. Didn't qualify for NHS previously as my late husband had children. I still can't call pregnant with my new partner so we've been approved for IVF but I'm so scared as it's my last chance xx

LT103 · 28/03/2022 21:03

@Turning40andstartingIVF welcome!! I just turned 40 last month and currently going through my first round of ivf. Finding out tomorrow if my little embryos have made it to freeze or not! I’m having a frozen transfer so we will need to wait 2 months now before we get to use any we do get!!

Emmyanddreams · 29/03/2022 11:56

@LT103 have you heard anything about your embryos?

@Turning40andstartingIVF hiya! That's great news that you have qualified finally. So many people start their IVF in their late 30's, early 40's, so don't feel like it's your last shot. Even if you're not successful first or second round, hopefully you're still have a good chance. I know that's easy for me to say though, I'm only 37 and I'm so lucky to already have a child. However I have a friend who started IVF when she was 39 and was successful and went on to have a second one through IVF a few years later. I also have two friends who had a baby naturally mid forties.
Wishing you all the very best. When do you actually start? Xx

LT103 · 29/03/2022 12:23

Ive just had my call and out of my 9 eggs, I have 7 frozen embryos!!!! I can’t believe it!!
Now we just need to wait a week for case review and then do our consents for FET

Turning40andstartingIVF · 29/03/2022 12:29

Thanks everyone. Its nice to know I'm not alone!
I start on 9th April taking norethistrone for 4 days then when I stop and get a period, I need to call and tell them then I assume I start injecting. I've got all the medication already. Just didn't really take it all in when the nurse explained it. Do injections start day 1?
I've not been told anything about quality other than in February during my initial scan, I had 5 sacs on one side and 3 on the other (no meds - just an internal).
I'm so scared and excited at the same time. I've never longed for a period so much in 15 years but it means I can start lol xx

Elle147 · 29/03/2022 19:00

@Chippychippy How are you feeling?

@LT103 Wow, amazing! Congratulations, I bet you are made up!

@Turning40andstartingIVF Welcome! It’s just a crazy experience and you’ll have ups / downs and wonder everyday if you are doing everything right but just try and relax trust in what the clinic advises! Keep in touch with how it all goes!

@Emmyanddreams So I have a question, which may make me sound bizarre - but how do we work out how far along we are? I’ve no idea 😅 I’ve been to the clinic today to collect more meds, discussed a few worries about left sided pain but was told not to worry. They think because my left ovary did the most work it may be recovering still. I asked for an earlier scan but it was a firm no. Can’t help but still worry, the cramps are on and off! Hope you are okay and doing well xx

Emmyanddreams · 29/03/2022 20:15

@LT103 OMG!! That's amazing!!! You must be so pleased 😃😃😃😃😃

@Turning40andstartingIVF how exciting, that's not long to wait. I had to tell the clinic when I started my bleeding and then they did a baseline scan on day 2. They were happy with the baseline and I started stimming that day. Have they mentioned a scan to you? I'm not sure what's standard procedure and what isn't 🤷🏻‍♀️

@Elle147 so egg collection is basically the equivalent to ovulation day. Pregnancy counts from the first day of your period (in a normal cycle) which is normally 2 weeks before ovulation. As tomorrow will be 3 weeks since your egg collection, this will make you 5 weeks pregnant tomorrow xx

Elle147 · 29/03/2022 20:44

@Emmyanddreams Ah, makes sense - thank you!

Emmyanddreams · 29/03/2022 20:55

@Elle147 also try not to worry about the cramps. As I said, I was worried about right sided cramps and they said the same to me about how my ovaries had worked hard. They were not at all worried xx

Elle147 · 29/03/2022 20:58

@Emmyanddreams It’s so hard not to worry isn’t it? I’m forever googling everything. They don’t bother me at all whilst I’m busy, it’s once I’m sat down in the evening. I’ve been having some back pain too which is worrying me, it’s all so new to me though I’ve no idea what should worry me and what shouldn’t! I’ll drive the clinic mad no doubt in the next few weeks!

Chippychippy · 30/03/2022 10:49

@LT103 woooohoooo! Brilliant number babe! Well done you! 🙏🏽✨

@Elle147 @Emmyanddreams I was wondering this too! There is ivf due date calculators if you google them! 😋

@Elle147 thanks honey! So much better now! Still a little "uncomfortable" but I think...all being well....I'm about to have transfer 🙏🏽🙏🏽🙏🏽 just about to walk into the hospital.
Hope you're feeling ok darling! I think that twinges and aches are quite normal! Your little embaby is getting comfy! ☺️

@Turning40andstartingIVF welcome!!!! Hope you're feeling happy and excited! It's a scary journey but also so exciting and what a life experience! It makes us all stronger for sure!

Lots of love everyone xxxxxx
