Anyone out there currently going through IVF, start my stims in a couple of days. Had my down reg scan today and I have 4 follicles on my left and 5 on my right, wasn't sure if this was good or not, I've just turned 40 as this is my first cycle.

Unexplained infertility, many thanks ☺️

@Emmyanddreams Hey, so sorry I tried to do a post the other day but it hasn’t sent for some reason!

I had my scan yesterday, baby is doing really well and I’m measuring 9 weeks as I should be now - such a relief! The second sac was still there but nothing in it, they said this will just start to disappear as my pregnancy progresses!

How are you doing? Xx

Emmyanddreams · 29/04/2022 06:51

@Elle147 that's amazing news. I'm so pleased for you! Was it a lot nicer experience this time then?
How are you feeling symptom wise?

I'm suffering massively with fatigue and still have waves of nausea xx

Elle147 · 29/04/2022 07:38

@Emmyanddreams We had a different lady who was lovely, it made all the difference!

I'm actually feeling a lot better this week, just small bits of nausea but nothing significant! I am getting a lot of cramps but they said this will be expected as my body absorbs the second sac!

Sorry to here you’re not feeling great! Are you still taking your progesterone? They told me to stop mine as I don’t need it anymore, I was made up - no more mess! Aha :)

Emmyanddreams · 29/04/2022 08:20

@Elle147 oh good, I'm so glad you had a better experience. That's what it should be like.

I really hope I start to feel more normal too. I'm sure I will any day now 🤞

I'm on progesterone until 12 weeks. They said I probably don't need to be but it doesn't do any harm. Only three weeks to go! xx

gianaInfertilitySucks · 30/04/2022 17:46

Hi there! May I ask @Colourfulliving if after your diagnose you had to go straight to ivf or did you try anything else?

Elle147 · 08/05/2022 08:13

Hello everyone!

Just thought I would check in and see how everyone is doing? 😀

I’ve had a really tough couple of days with awful nausea so I’ve been bed bound! Very grateful to be growing a little one but struggling with the first trimester struggles!

Hope you are all doing well, would be lovely to hear from you xxx

Luluspies · 08/05/2022 09:28

Ah hope your ok @Elle147 dry crackers and watermelon apparently oh and my Nanna used to say flat cola! I'm waiting quite impatiently to start my second cycle 😀

Emmyanddreams · 08/05/2022 10:46

@Elle147 oh no, sorry to hear you're really suffering with nausea. It's such a horrible feeling but it will pass.
I don't seem to have nausea anymore, just so tired all the time. My having troubles with my lower back though. If I do too much, by the end of the day I get horrible aches and pains in my lower back right in the middle. Even trying to roll over in bed really hurts. I hope it's nothing to worry about. I've read that hormones such as relaxin and progesterone can cause back pain so hopefully it's just that xx

flowersinmay · 08/05/2022 15:41

Hi all, it's nice to hear your updates! sorry to hear that @Elle147 I hope you're feeling a bit better today, @Emmyanddreams hope your back pain goes away too! I have no recommendations because I've never been pregnant but do keep us updated on how you're all doing, love hearing how things are progressing! 💜
@Luluspies when do you start your second cycle? I've just started my second cycle on Friday after having to cancel the first one due to Covid! It felt like an age until I could start again but glad it's finally here. Just trying to avoid catching anything this time round 🤞 sending
Love to all on this feed xox

Luluspies · 08/05/2022 15:50

@flowersinmay well I hope I'm starting my June cycle fingers crossed! I had a good embryo but for some reason just didn't stick! Got my follow up soon so going to ask what I can do for next time I want to get a thicker lining I think, I had 7mm last time but maybe thicker will help! Good luck all xxx

etrimbl · 08/05/2022 15:55

Hello ladies!
I haven’t posted in a while.
@flowersinmay so pleased it’s finally starting up again! Good luck!

@Elle147 @Emmyanddreams hope youre both doing ok. No advice here unfortunately.

I have a bit of an update. So after a very stressful few days waiting for transfer we went from 5 fertilised to 1. I had very low hopes it would work but tried to stay positive.

Still can’t quite believe it but I’m pregnant! That said, I’m finding the wait to the first scan (19th May) to be incredibly long and worrying. I wish we could just know it’s all ok. Praying for that heartbeat!

Also finally stopped those awful progesterone pessaries today so fingers crossed I still have pregnancy symptoms but will now know they’re real.

hope everyone here is well xxx

flowersinmay · 08/05/2022 16:22

@etrimbl wow amazing news congratulations!!!!! I'm so happy for you that's incredible, fingers crossed for your first scan. Hope you're doing ok. All this waiting is awful isn't it? Hope you've got some nice distractions until then! 🌸

flowersinmay · 08/05/2022 16:23

@Luluspies best of luck for the smooth start and also a thicker lining this time!!!

Luluspies · 08/05/2022 16:35

@flowersinmay ah you too I can't think of what else can help only maybe thicker lining I don't know I'm wanting to go into my second cycle a bit more chilled! Hope your ok wishing u well!

Emmyanddreams · 08/05/2022 19:24

@etrimbl that's fantastic news!! Congratulations!! Just goes to show, it only takes one 😄

@flowersinmay I really really hope this cycle goes well for you and you can actually see it all the way through. Keep us updated!

@Luluspies Good luck for June. Drink lots and lots of water to aid implantation. Also not sure if this actually helped or not but I ate lots of beetroots and drank pomegranate juice from egg collection. Mostly plonked it all in a smoothie every morning. And I ate Brazil nuts daily. Probably a load of rubbish but I suppose it doesn't hurt trying.

flowersinmay · 09/05/2022 11:32

@Luluspies I'm feeling a lot more chilled this second round (even though I've not been through an EC yet..!) but I think I'm just dealing with it like it's another thing I have to do, another process I have to go through. Not really thinking about the possible end results, just trying to take each day as it comes! Hope you can be chilled too 😊

Luluspies · 10/05/2022 09:22

@Emmyanddreams yes I'm back from a little holiday today so going to kick my diet into shape ready for my next try! Lots of beetroots on my shopping list! Thanks for the tip!

Colourfulliving · 14/05/2022 10:28

@flowersinmay how are you doing? When is your egg collection? Hoping that the injections weren't so bad second time round after getting used to them.

I've had my EC yesterday 😅

OP posts:
flowersinmay · 14/05/2022 16:29

@Colourfulliving ahhh you did?! Congrats! How was it? Any tips? I've got mine booked in for this Wednesday.. so far feeling rather bloated, can't wait until EC is over with tbh, injections going ok but stomach looks like I could be 4 months preggers 😕 sending love! Hope you have some embryos? 🤞

Colourfulliving · 14/05/2022 17:04

@flowersinmay aww not long for you then, it was over pretty quickly and no post side effects so I think I was very lucky. I still rested and took the rec pain killers just in case, good luck with it all. I opted for gas and air but think I would chose sedation if I had to do it again. I cried and I laughed but looking back it wasnt too bad at all xx

So we had 9 eggs, 5 mature and 3 fertilised so we wont hear again from them until Monday, keeping my fingers crossed. We had to have ICSI in the end as some mobility issues with the sperm, which had not been picked up in previous tests, but hoping it means that my eggs are good as I initially thought I was problem after the first positive sperm analysis.

Good luck for Wednesday, how many follicles at your last scan?

OP posts:
flowersinmay · 14/05/2022 17:28

@Colourfulliving oh wow that's so interesting about using ICSI, I really hope your eggs are in good shape then! I do wonder if I will be able to find out anything going through this IVF process as I am still diagnosed as unexplained! I still want to know why it hasn't worked naturally.. Keep us updated on your progress, sounds like good progress so far - I know this has been said a thousand times before in this forum but it does only takes one 🤞💪 hope you can keep yourself distracted and busy over the next few days whilst waiting for updates! Will be thinking of you 😊

My last scan was Friday, I've got 7 follicles in total, it didn't seem like that much to me, but they said they're please with that number. I guess I'll just have to wait and see on Wednesday what happens. My clinic is a few hours away so I need to book a night in a hotel and be there at 7am.. don't think there is any option of gas and air so am being sedated which I've never experienced before. Just hope it all goes ok!

flowersinmay · 16/05/2022 20:23

@Colourfulliving any update? Hope you're ok!
Xox

Colourfulliving · 18/05/2022 07:49

@flowersinmay hello, sorry I've been staying off my phone as much as poss and trying to keep my mind busy, all is going well and I'm hoping for my transfer today 💖, I wish you the best of luck with your EC today and hope it all goes well for you, looking forward to hearing from you later, get some rest xx

Will be thinking of you today, take care 💖

OP posts:
flowersinmay · 18/05/2022 19:10

Heey @Colourfulliving how are you doing? Did you do a transfer today? Hope it went well if you did! 🤞🌸

Egg collection went fine, I was a bit nervous the last few days about it so I'm so relieved it's over and wasn't as bad as I was expecting! I think the actual procedure was about 4 mins long and I was in the operating room for a total of 10 mins, so super quick!

They collected 11 eggs, one was low quality and the rest are, apparently, good. She said she will update me on Friday with more info. We did ICSI in the end too as she said after my last round got cancelled because I got Covid she felt ICSI was the safest option. All being well I will have a transfer on Monday!
