IVF September/October 2021 cycle

Hi

I am just starting a new thread in case anyone else is falling into the September/October timings...I have been in other threads which have been so so supportive and a bit of a godsend really, but I'm a bit behind where everyone is up to.

I had a failed cycle in June unfortunately and didn't respond as they expected. Then was supposed to start again in august but unfortunately they saw a cyst on one of my ovaries so have delayed the next cycle to September (I think my stims will fall into October as they'll put me on norithisterone).

Be great to chat to others who are about to start soon 😊

@Coops0406 I'm glad you arranged the scan & is positive! Seems you have a good amount again 🤞 Good luck for the scan on Monday. No I dont start them until 24th now. My scratch is on 2nd February. I just copied this from the internet as it's easier.

During the procedure the lining of the womb (the endometrium) is 'scratched' using a small sterile plastic tube. The theory is that this procedure triggers the body to repair the site of the scratch, releasing chemicals and hormones that make the womb lining more receptive to an embryo implanting.

@pkp11 that's good. Hopefully won't be too long till you get to that day 2. Good luck 🤞

@pkp11 so FET should maybe be around middle of feb? Exciting now!! Not too sure how the FETs work in terms of timeframes. What progesterone injections are you going to be on?

@Reefy that's interesting, I'll ask mine about it or is that only for a fresh transfer? Is that at the end of your norithisterone but before stims? It's all getting super exciting now!

I think our FET won't end up being until may time as this is a freeze all, so will need to wait another cycle to do the womb tests which will be like a dummy run for FET but without the transfer, then wait for those results, then sort out any issues there may be, then finally an FET! Seems like forever away but I know it'll soon be here. No one tells you all the waiting and patience you need during IVF! 🤦🏾‍♀️

@Coops0406 it can be done for FET too as I've had friends that have done it before. They say there is no medical evidence that it helps & it shows as Amber on the HFEA website but I want to try it as it's like what if? Yes it's the day after I stop my Norethisterone & 4 days before I start stims as apparently it has to be done a certain way through the cycle. They did say if having Emma/Alice ERA then its like a scratch is included so you won't need to have it done as you get one if that's the tests you are having!

Reefy · 15/01/2022 12:38

@Coops0406 oh absolutely so much patience! There really is just so much waiting isn't there! We'll time just flies by so May will be here before we know it!

Coops0406 · 16/01/2022 06:39

@Reefy ah right! I'll mention it when I'm about to start the cycle for testing. So, based on starting stims on the 6th, you should be maybe mid/late fed for EC! In fact, about a month's time exactly! 😍

Reefy · 16/01/2022 08:21

@Coops0406 yes they said either 18th or 21st! Won't be long! Good luck for the scan tomorrow 🤞

pkp11 · 16/01/2022 09:58

@Reefy Day is 2 is today! Oh good luck with the scratch. I was considering but doctors suggested against as it's my 1st FET and they think I should be fine. But I know what you mean, you just keep thinking what if it does help me.

Starting Estradiol tablets today, 1 3times a day and fyremadel injections once a day too.

@Coops0406 the progesterone is lubion for the injection and cyclones for the pessary.

This protocol is so short and hardly see anyone at the clinic so feels very very different to the full long protocol I had. ET should be around 3 weeks time if all goes well. I have everything crossed.

Good luck with your scan tomorrow!

Reefy · 16/01/2022 11:48

@pkp11 yes exactly. I was going to last time but the doctor said there is no medical evidence but said he wouldn't stop me so I didn't but this time I want too. Oh that's good! Good luck with the injections!

Coops0406 · 16/01/2022 19:46

Thanks @Reefy @pkp11 definitely feeling a bit fatter so I'm hoping it's follicles rather than my overeating!!

@pkp11 I've struggled with the fyremadel injections this time round, they seem to be struggling to break through the skin! Last one tomorrow...didn't realise you need them again for FET! 😩 do you end up taking the progesterone injections after finishing the estradiol and fyremadel?

OP posts:
pkp11 · 16/01/2022 20:32

@Reefy you haven't got long to wait. How are you preparing yourself?

@Coops0406 this is my 1st time taking fyremadel. Will take it in an hour so I've got my fingers crossed! So I've only got 6 of these injections and just the estradiol tablets until my scan in 2 weeks. That's when I start the progesterone, so will have a little break with the injections.

I'm sure you're feeling the follicles now. I remember I was like a balloon towards the end too! Just take it easy now

Coops0406 · 16/01/2022 20:46

@pkp11 just make sure you stretch the skin as it doesn't just pop in! With my other one I just grab my roll (🤣) and hubby sticks the needle in no problems, the fyremadel must be a slightly bigger needle and seemed to poke it quite far in without actually breaking the skin!

OP posts:
Reefy · 16/01/2022 21:08

@pkp11 no I haven't as stims start on 6th February! So I'm doing some acupuncture this time & trying to be good with what I'm eating but too much stuff left from Christmas still 😂. We are going on a spa weekend next weekend to relax so that will be nice. I'm being selfish this time & putting myself first & taking some time to do nothing. My cousin has asked me to do her hair (she doesn't know about this round) I said sorry I'm busy with a lot going on. I want to rest & take it easy this time. Really after our spa we need to isolate away so it will be nice to do that before.
Yes them fyremedal are buggers to get in, I've found that both times!

pkp11 · 16/01/2022 21:48

@Coops0406 @Reefy OMG thank you for your advice, so helpful! Pinched the skin and had hubby put it in. Feels tingly, the injections I had in my I've round did not feel like this but not sure if that's because I'm taking these in my thigh instead of abdomen.

Oo yes, we went to a spa last weekend and had such a nice break. I'm glad you're being selfish, it's the only way. I am going to be the same way, especially after the ET as last time I wasn't strict with myself but this time around I will be isolating away too.

Have a goodnight ladies and great week ahead with lots of positive news and feelings!

Coops0406 · 17/01/2022 10:03

@pkp11 haha! Glad it helped! Bizarrely, hubby did last one today and went in with a bit more force and it was fine! I secretly think he was getting his revenge earlier in the week for my many mood swings he's had to suffer 🤣🤣😊

@pkp11 @Reefy I did a spa day the other week with my friend...as soon as I was off the norithisterone and before my bleed came! I'm going to try and squeeze another one in after this round too! And a good massage!

We just had our final scan, lots of follicles, I think 16 on left and 12 on right. But only actually about 4 at the right size and 4 just under, the rest are too small. So they will do egg collection on Wednesday as originally planned, just waiting to hear what time. As usual, all the hard work done by the left ovary! The right has a cyst and only small follicles.
So now, no lunch out for us as I’m isolating until egg collection 🤦🏾‍♀️ but I think we’ll definitely get something nice to eat!

OP posts:
Reefy · 17/01/2022 12:36

@Coops0406 that's good! Funny as it's always my right ovary that does all the work 😂. Good luck. Enjoy that lunch out!

Coops0406 · 17/01/2022 15:34

@Reefy does it? Bizarre how one puts in all the ground work! Got my trigger at 10.45pm tonight so gonna have to either keep myself up or set an alarm! 🤦🏾‍♀️🤣

OP posts:
Reefy · 17/01/2022 16:09

@Coops0406 yes I have to push on my left side at scans for them to see it! So weird. Oh yeah that's late, my last one was 11pm so stayed up for that then then night before EC I stay up late for snacks 😂 so I always end up with 2 late nights. I normally go to sleep about 9-9.30 😂

pkp11 · 17/01/2022 22:02

@Coops0406 brilliant news! Go left ovary! In my last protocol my left ovary was the one doing the work too and nurses struggled with the right one a lot during scans!

Tonight's fyremadel was painful 😢 only 4 left to take so taking deep breaths!

@Reefy you sleep so early! I usually go bed around 11! Wish I could sleep earlier!

Reefy · 18/01/2022 07:49

@pkp11 I know! We get up for work at 5am so we go to bed early 😂

Coops0406 · 18/01/2022 08:06

@Reefy I'm with you on the going to sleep! Always in bed by 10pm 🤣 and last week on stims it was more like half 8! I was so tired!
We ended up setting an alarm! But so hard to mix the powders when you're half asleep!

@pkp11 it's so annoying when that happens! It puts you off the next one. Just really try to pinch and stretch the skin, and when hubby did it a bit harder and faster on the last one it was much better! Still stung afterwards though!

Today is my injection free day! 🥳🥳🥳 and no eating after midnight until EC is done so I'm going to have to wake up for a snack just before then! 😂

OP posts:
Reefy · 18/01/2022 11:44

@Coops0406 enjoy the injection free day! Oh yes that's what I do with the Alarm for snacks!

Reefy · 19/01/2022 07:47

@Coops0406 good luck today with EC! Hope they find lots of eggs hiding again! 🥚🤞

Coops0406 · 19/01/2022 08:20

@Reefy thank you! 🥰 me too, just on the way now and thinking what I'm going to eat after 🤣

OP posts:
Reefy · 19/01/2022 08:30

@Coops0406 haha! Enjoy it!
I have to take a light lunch & drink with me as they don't give you anything! It's very tempting to have something when you know it's in the bag when driving to the clinic 😂😂
