IVF September/October 2021 cycle

I am just starting a new thread in case anyone else is falling into the September/October timings...I have been in other threads which have been so so supportive and a bit of a godsend really, but I'm a bit behind where everyone is up to.

I had a failed cycle in June unfortunately and didn't respond as they expected. Then was supposed to start again in august but unfortunately they saw a cyst on one of my ovaries so have delayed the next cycle to September (I think my stims will fall into October as they'll put me on norithisterone).

@Reefy last time I couldn't stomach anything there, I felt nauseous and in a bit of pain but the first time I was straight on a caffeinated coffee and biccies! The caffeine went straight to me 🤣 There's a retail park near with McDonald's and others of a similar ilk so no doubt a burger and chips will be involved as soon as possible!

@Coops0406 that's a good idea! Last time I took tea & biscuits hen went to McDonald's 😂. Enjoy whatever you decide to have!

Had EC, same consultant as last time which put me at ease, and I have no idea where he found them but he got 15 eggs out this time! Again, such a contrast to the numbers in the last scan and we are over the moon. The sedation was amazing again, wish it lasted longer! In a bit of pain still and pretty uncomfortable, mainly on the right hand side so not sure if that's anything to do with the cyst in my right ovary. Also struggling to stomach any food, got a burger sat here and can't face it! Had a few chips but had to give the rest to OH! Now the wait until tomorrow!

@Coops0406 wow that's amazing! I know last time I woke up in the room I went to sleep in & was only out 13 mins 😂. Hope the pain has eased. Plenty of rest for you. I normally use a hot water bottle to help & pop the pills! Just eat when you can when you fancy it. As long as your fluids are up!

@Reefy I can't believe it! Now is the hard time to see where we get to by day 5! Still uncomfortable and in pain but eaten my dinner!

@pkp11 how are the injections going?

@Coops0406 it's just so much anxious waiting! Oh that's good. Hope it eases soon.

Just had a call from the embryologist, they actually collected 16 eggs! 🤩
14 mature, 7 have fertilised normally which is great, they are just waiting to see if the other 7 may do too (highly unlikely if they haven’t already but because they are mature eggs they are just going to give them the rest of the day).
Next update is Saturday then Monday.

I’m off work today but luckily it’s just uncomfortable when I move now, the pain has subsided and hopefully the bloating will go down too!

@Coops0406 that's good news! Where do they all hide 😂. Glad the pain has subsided. Take it easy today.

@Reefy I know!!! Either they aren't reading the scans properly or the consultant is a magician 🤣

@Reefy so much better! Bloating still there (but that could be the 3 courses I ate last night 🤣), progesterone bloats me too so likely a mixture of things!
Embryologist called just after lunch, all 7 embryos still going. They grade them good, average or poor at this stage and there are 4 good and 3 average which is great!! Next update Monday...they need to get to expanded blastocysts to be biopsied and frozen, sometimes that can take up to day 6 so we may get an additional update on Tuesday too.

How are you all doing?

@Coops0406 yes the progesterone makes me like that too! That's brilliant news that they are all still going! It's such an anxious time isn't it! Yes all good just waiting to start my Norethisterone on Monday! Off for our overnight stay at the spa tomorrow so looking forward to that. Just enjoyed a hot bath with a couple of gins while I can before the meds start! X

Pretty nerve wracking...last time on day 3 we had 7 good and 1 average, which led to 6 very good embryos on day 5 then 2 euploids. This time there is half the amount of good ones so slightly worried about whether we'll even get any euploids! 😬 but we'll have to wait and see. Not long until the next update tomorrow

We had a call from the embryologist this morning. We have 5 embryos from the 7 at early blast stage...they need to be at expanded blastocysts stage to do the biopsies and freeze so will update us tomorrow now 🤞🏾🤞🏾🤞🏾

We have unfortunately only got 2 out of our 5 embryos today that have made it to expanded blastocysts so they are being biopsied and frozen. Absolutely gutted as it it so so unlikely that either will be euploid so now I feel like we just wasted time and money for no outcome on this 3rd round to try and bank some embryos 😩 I'm sure AF is also round the corner so my irrational head is firmly in place too!

@Coops0406 sorry to hear that. How long does it take to do the testing?

@Coops0406 how are you doing? Really sorry to hear this news, it was looking so positive reading through the messages. Hopefully you find out soon the results of the testing. How is your bloat? My bloating took a few weeks after my round. I know its not what you want to hear but try and stay positive and keep your hopes up

@Reefy how was your spa weekend? Hope you feel rested before you start your meds.

Sorry I went a bit quiet just had my brother stay for a few days and we packed in some activities before transfer day. I have my scan on Friday morning to see how my lining is and confirm when to start progesterone and date for transfer. Feeling nervous closer it gets to it. The fyramadel injections finished last week on Friday as it was only 6. Continuing tablets until progesterone starts.

@pkp11 yes it was lovely thank you, so relaxing! Yes I'm on Norethisterone now which just delays AF a few days so they can control it! Hope you had a lovely time getting lots in together & making the time fly as it's forever waiting isn't it. Good luck for your scan on Friday

@Reefy good to know you feel relaxed. Does Norethisterone have any side effects thats you're feeling?

Yes such a waiting game it can easily drive you mad. Especially as I work from home so I end up thinking about it all, all the time. I will try to distract my mind this time around

@Reefy we should hear back in a couple of weeks. I'm already on with getting the meds sorted for the the dummy FET where they will do the womb biopsies so just trying to focus on that.
Ooh, yes, your spa day! Was it just what you needed? How are you on the norithisterone? Was it the 2nd feb you stop and then scratch a few days later? I can't remember when it was happening!

@pkp11 thank you 🥰 I just need to keep reminding myself that we have 2 euploid ones and this was a back up round to try and get another. We are still very blessed and I know my head will think it once AF has showed its face and gone!

The excessive bloat has now gone! Just normal bloat and fat left 🤣 I bet you're glad to not have those Fyremadel injections anymore! Are you on oestrogen tablets? Then after your scan on Friday if all is well you start on the progesterone? I think they said I'll be on oestrogen tablets for 12 days from my next cycle after this, then a scan, then progesterone (something like that!)

@Coops0406 it's always good to have something to focus on. Yes was lovely, we had plenty of gin & a lovely massage followed by warm delicious scones 😂. I did complain tho as the sauna was broken & they cancelled my lunch booking as said chef was on annual leave so the manager came to see me & said how about another spa day with afternoon tea for 2 & the voucher will be valid till end Jan 2023 so that's something else to look forward too 😂.
Last Norethisterone evening of 1st Feb then scratch on 2nd so not long then stims on the 6th!

@Coops0406 great about the bloating! Yes I'm on estradiol 3 a day until after my scan when nurse will tell me when to start cyclogest pessary and lubion injection. Just so many meds to think about.
