Hi everyone.

I couldn't find a thread for ivf cycles July/August 2021 so I hope it's OK to start one. I was on the March/April thread for my fresh cycle and it was so nice to have support from others going through the same thing.

My fresh cycle was successful but unfortunately I miscarried at 8 weeks pregnant. We are start a frozen cycle with one of our 2 frozen embryos. Aiming to start tablets around the 10th July with the hope of transfer towards the end of July.

Would love to know if anyone else is in the same boat or has any tips!

@Bobtat I’m not doing a fresh transfer because if the ohss risk.

I understand that progesterone will stop your period arriving. I have taken it three times and my period arrives a couple of days after stopping taking it and it extends my cycle until I stop it.

@2021babyhope you must be over the moon - that's amazing! congrats on being PUPO and good luck for the 2ww xx

@Bobtat totally... it feels like everything in the 2ww is set up to make you lose your mind! I was (half jokingly) complaining to my gynae cousin: I can't believe we can send people to space relatively easily and yet still not have found a better way to figure out if a transfer has worked in 2021!! Grin but, yes, in the meantime let's stick with the happier thoughts

@Lolly2020 I'm so sorry about your diagnosis and having to cancel your cycle - so disappointing after all the waiting and prep :( sending you a big hug and lots of strength and patience. well done for questioning that cyst though and getting them to figure out the right treatment for you! keeping everything crossed that this extra wait translates into a successful outcome xx

Lots of love to all xx

Hi just wanted to update on my embryo results as I have been very ill with moderate OHSS since the egg collection. Still very bloated but feeling much better today. So out of the 4 fertilised, 3 have made it to blastocysts all top quality and have been frozen.
@2021babyhope congrats on your transfer good luck to you
How is everyone doing

PurpleUnicorn01 · 11/08/2021 15:56

@Csparkles that's great news. Hope you feel better soon x

I had my scan ~17 follicles (of which 4-5 are small still). Am triggering tonight for egg collection on Friday. Any other egg collection buddies for Friday?!

It's still a bit too early to tell if the different protocol and drugs have made any difference as I've responded the same as my previous 3 cycles.

I have my trigger tonight & egg collection on Friday too. It was meant going to be Wednesday but they decided on Monday to push me on to let the follicles grow more which they have & they clinic just called & said they want me to take all my medication as usual then 2 hours later trigger. I'm a first timer & feel really nervous! Good luck for Friday
BeccaT123 · 11/08/2021 18:04

Good luck all!
Does anyone know if the vaccine can effect an embryo transfer? Ie is it ok to have the vaccine within a week or the transfer?

Reefy · 11/08/2021 18:07

@Helene2019
Sorry it was on as quote rather then reply!

Well done @Csparkles - great result! Hope you're feeling a bit better? That must have been so uncomfortable.

Bobtat · 11/08/2021 18:32

@Reefy ahhh that's so exciting. Everything crossed for you 🤞🏻🤞🏻

Reefy · 11/08/2021 18:35

@Bobtat thank you 😊

Bobtat · 11/08/2021 18:48

@BeccaT123 British Fertility Org has a helpful leaflet on this. Official party line is that you can have the vax during IVF treatment, I believe, but it's advisable to make sure it's separated from ER or ET by a few days. However, my clinic told me that if I couldn't have my 2nd jab before I started the drugs for my FET cycle (so 4/5 weeks before transfer on my protocol) that their recommendation would be to delay the cycle and that vaccine should be prioritised whilst I was neither pregnant nor undergoing fertility treatment. I suspect the protocol may vary from clinic to clinic so deffo worth checking with yours.

After all my "i think I will wait until OTD to test" vibes I found an old preggers test yesterday down the back of a cupboard whilst trying to keep busy yesterday and decided to test randomly in the middle of the day like a loon. Predictably it was a BFN (6dp5dt). Feel a right div - that's not helped the wondering! 😬

chocolate336 · 11/08/2021 19:00

Has anyone ever went for the counselling their clinic has offered? I've always declined thinking I can cope on my own....getting harder each go of course! Anyone went for it and found it beneficial? I'm on the fence...not sure if it's my kind of thing but then again I've never done it Confused

Helene2019 · 11/08/2021 19:22

@Reefy collection buddies! I usually just fall asleep during egg collection and then wake myself up snoring in the recovery bit post collection 😂. The first time they used less sedatives but still normal pain relief so I chatted to the anaesthetist (probably like a drunk person!) and it was all over in about 10 mins.

Every time I've had egg collection I've had a bit of bleeding afterwards. Would recommend wearing a long panty liner or sanitary pad on Friday. I got caught out on my first collection and the nurse had to give me a really massive post birth maternity pad because they didn't have anything else.

@Csparkles great news to have multiple blasts frozen. I had to eat a very light easy to digest food when I had OHSS in my first cycle - broth, soups, mashed potato/veg etc helped. Hope you feel better soon.

PurpleUnicorn01 · 11/08/2021 19:33

@bobtat that is hilarious. I actually resisted this morning lol

Reefy · 11/08/2021 19:35

@Helene2019 well I'm not feeling it is going to be as relaxing as a massage 😂 but hopefully I will do the same! I wasn't told to bring anything with me at all but Yes I've put some sanitary pads in my bag! Nothing like being prepared. Thank you for the heads up. Good luck for Friday 🤞🥚 x

Janefx40 · 11/08/2021 20:06

@BeccaT123 To be honest I think I would probably wait. Although the official advice may be different, I wouldn't want to be doing anything to activate my immune system around a transfer. I had mine between cycles so 3 weeks before egg collection (but I'm not having transfers anyway). It may sound silly but a lot of this is about not having regrets so personally I would just wait for after test day if it's sadly negative or until around 12 weeks if it's positive.

@chocolate336 yes I had the counselling this time for the first time. I was in 2 minds as I think in some ways you just need to ignore the trauma and get on with it. Deal with it later. However it has been helpful especially as my counsellor knows the clinic really well and has given me some good practical advice eg about chasing up a consultancy appointment

Best of luck with EC @Reefy and @Helene2019

@Bobtat Doh!!! Sorry about the BFN but as you know already it is a bit early and not the best time of day for a test! Let's hope for a better result with FMU in a few days xxz

Helene2019 · 11/08/2021 20:11

@chocolate336 we are offered counselling every cycle, but not yet felt that we needed it. I think it is down to the individual and your circumstances. Counselling is useful to help you identify, organise and accept your emotions and what has/is happening to you etc. There's nothing to lose if it's included in your IVF treatment, you could always try it and see if you get anything out of it.

PurpleUnicorn01 · 11/08/2021 20:49

As a certified psychotherapist I may be biased but go for it! It's a great place to vent. Bit like having a thought pad.

chocolate336 · 11/08/2021 21:06

@PurpleUnicorn01 just slightly biased haha! I do enjoy a good vent! X

@Helene2019 Yeah we've been offered it each go as it's included. Think I might give it a go.....my positivity is fading with each go 🤦🏻‍♀️x

@Janefx40 Glad you found it useful. Think I'll give it a go x

2021babyhope · 12/08/2021 06:53

How're you getting on in the TTW? 😊 I'm only 2dp5dt and already symptom spotting and itching to test 😅

A small part of me never wants to test though and just carry on in my little pupo bubble

girljulian · 12/08/2021 07:41

Tested again this morning and got BFN. Confused Does that mean it was a chemical?

Janefx40 · 12/08/2021 09:26

@girljulian aaarrggh no. I'm so sorry. Did you use the same brand of tests and use FMU both times? Of course there are always miracle stories of women with super low levels of Hcg on test day having a good result but for the most part it does generally mean things haven't worked out if you are 14 days post EC. Sending lots of love xxx

girljulian · 12/08/2021 09:28

Hi @janefx40, yes I did. The first test was on my OTD and the second test was today, so two days further along. So...yeah. We're not having much luck on this thread, are we!
