IVF July/August 2021

Hi everyone.

I couldn't find a thread for ivf cycles July/August 2021 so I hope it's OK to start one. I was on the March/April thread for my fresh cycle and it was so nice to have support from others going through the same thing.

My fresh cycle was successful but unfortunately I miscarried at 8 weeks pregnant. We are start a frozen cycle with one of our 2 frozen embryos. Aiming to start tablets around the 10th July with the hope of transfer towards the end of July.

Would love to know if anyone else is in the same boat or has any tips!

@girljulian I had a chemical.....tested positive from day 8 and was negative on test day. I phoned my clinic and they brought me up for bloods to check and confirm. I'm so sorry if that's the case

@girljulian I'm sorry. It's shitty. I had a horrid chemical once where my Hcg levels kept rising but at super low levels (4,6,12 etc). It was such a headf*. My BFN was easier to handle really- horrid but clear at least. Chemicals really mess with your mind. Take some time to be nice to yourself x

So ladies i cracked! I tested again. It's a negative which is good as i know the hcg trigger is out my system so hopefully if i get a positive now its a real one!

@Helene2019 good luck for tomorrow! that sounds like a really good number of follicles, so fingers crossed for you that this time turns out better 🤞🏼
@Reefy good luck for tomorrow, you too! I've only been through 1 round before but I really think the egg collection wasn't bad at all, and the sedation is actually quite nice :)

@chocolate336 I'm also on the fence about counselling right now, and have never done it, but I'm leaning towards to 'I guess it can't hurt' side, and will probably try to make use of the included session during the 2ww which I struggled with last time

@girljulian that's absolutely gutting. So sorry to hear that. Hope you are taking care of yourself and being looked after. Definitely sounds like a blood test might be helpful. Have you managed to speak to your clinic?

Thanks all, I'm going in for a blood test tomorrow but they said yes, sounds like a standard chemical.

@beachbum85 haha - I swear this process makes you crazy! No trigger for me as this is a FET though. I tested again with a FRER using FMU today (8dp5dt) and got a BFN again, which I think is probably a reasonable indication of things to come as they are so much more sensitive than standard tests and OTD is only 3 days away.....It is infuriating not knowing for sure though.

@beachbum85 and @chocolate336 I’ve had counselling for other things in the past and always found it much more helpful than I expected. I would give it a chance.

We had the news that we have 19 day 5 blastocysts. We are waiting for biopsy results which are likely to take a good few weeks so fingers crossed we are looking at a transfer in late September / early October

That's excellent news.

Well ive decided to start testing from Sunday as that will make me 6dpt and i know the hcg is out my system. I think i find that more helpful than doing nothing.

@PurpleUnicorn01 I think I do too you know! Just can't decide if I should - it's my first ivf round and I'm not sure if seeing a negative test will push me over the edge 😅

Lol @2021babyhope my first round 2 hence why i need to do something. I probably will be negative that early but still lol

@2021babyhope Have you caved? I am not finding the testing helpful, just depressing. Compared to my other two cycles (where I waited until OTD) this is deffo more stressful. Argh

@Bobtat not yes as I'm only 2dp5dt although I might start from 6dp.

I don't know if I prefer being in this little bubble still though! And I know if I get a negative test no matter now early I'll be disappointed.

I'm lured by the possibility of an early positive!

When's your official test day?

@2021babyhope OTD is Sunday. The other 2 times I didn't even consider testing early!

@girljulian I'm so sorry, my first cycle ended in a chemical and it was awful. To have that hope, and then have it taken away. Look after yourself ❤️

@Bobtat oh yeah, no trigger... there goes my attempt to look on the bright side 3 days away is not too long although i know it'll feel like 3 weeks. hoping it'll be a positive for you by then 🤞🏼

@53rds wow that's an incredible number of blasts... even if the biopsy results are not great you should end up with a fair number there! very glad for you :)
thanks for the advice about counselling too, seems like the balance is much more in favour
