IVF July/August 2021

Hi everyone.

I couldn't find a thread for ivf cycles July/August 2021 so I hope it's OK to start one. I was on the March/April thread for my fresh cycle and it was so nice to have support from others going through the same thing.

My fresh cycle was successful but unfortunately I miscarried at 8 weeks pregnant. We are start a frozen cycle with one of our 2 frozen embryos. Aiming to start tablets around the 10th July with the hope of transfer towards the end of July.

Would love to know if anyone else is in the same boat or has any tips!

@2021babyhope congrats on the progress. My clinic won’t give me updates. I just get told how many fertilised and then how many make it to day 5 and the quality. I’ve got to wait until Tuesday to find out. It’s dragging so much.

@Alexm06 @girljulian how's the 2ww going for you guys? How are you feeling? I'm super tired and had a few sharp twinges on my left side abdomen 1 & 2dpt but nothing else much to report.

@SerendipitySunshine I definitely know what you mean about feeling guilty - my first fresh transfer worked and so did my first FET (I have two lovely children with a 17 month age gap because I never in a million years thought lightning would strike twice so started trying for a second as soon as we were allowed). Everything crossed for you - it can totally happen! I can't quite believe I'm back again trying for a third with another blast from the original fresh cycle, but we had three 5 days blasts left from that in storage and so we had a big chat and decided we wanted to give them all a chance so we are!

@Bobtat hey yeah nothing to report here just still a few cramps here and there don't feel any different so I'm pretty sure it hasn't worked. Being tired That's a good sign!! Hopefully it has worked for you! How are you holding on? Do you think you will test early? Ohh I'm also pretty emotional at the moment but that could also be the cyclogest again still don't have the urge to test yet and I'm working today tomorrow then I have my god children overnight Tuesday/Wednesday then working Thursday and test day is Friday soo yeah I'm pretty busy until then. Not that it takes my mind off it hahaha x

From our 4 eggs we got 3 fertilised and had one embryo put back on the 2nd. (Also had two good enough to freeze!)

We're now 6dp5dt and we're probably going to test tomorrow because we can never wait! We found out about our previous two positives at 6days but our tests don't arrive until later today so we're going to test tomorrow and probably every day after that

Feeling positive, my wife would usually have her period by now but there's no sign so fingers crossed it's worked.

@LargeYorkshirePuddingAndGravy sounds promising! Any symptoms? Lots of luck for your test!!

@Alexm06 that's great you've got things on to keep you busy and cramps are good! Our weekend plans got cancelled so time is passing slooooowly - lots of sitting around wondering. Tbh I'm hesitant to test early because if were negative I feel like I wouldn't be able to trust it so would either potentially be disappointed for no reason (if it was later positive on OTD) or have to endure multiple disappointments and keep hoping each day would be different only to get same results later. Obvs if it's positive it's lovely to find out sooner though. I was thinking, for me, maybe better to just rip the band aid off when I know it will give the true result, but, saying that, we do have friends staying over next weekend (OTD is Sunday) and I don't really want to do it with them here so may end up testing Saturday before they arrive. Im not very hopeful this time after such a difficult ET - I understand a smooth transfer is quite important for implantation.

I had a few days away from the phone to try to process another failed cycle and my period has now started. Our clinic has kindly allowed us to go ahead with our last frozen embryo transfer at the end of August so I'm gearing up for round number 3,hoping 3rd time lucky..

@Bobtat no symptoms which couldn't be put down to the drugs really although she said on implantation day she felt the same little pops she did when our son implanted

@beachbum85 I am pretty shocked by the numbers too, I think the dosage may have been a bit off and I hit all the risk factors for OHSS. Over 30 have fertilised so I’m keeping fingers crossed for the next few days. I am aware of how lucky I have been so far. OHSS has not been fun. No appetite and painful bloating, this morning we considered going to the hospital but ultimately decided resting at home with lots of fluids would be best.

@53rds congrats for 30 fertilised. What level of stims were you on? What is your AMH and did you expect to get OHSS. I got it on the morning of EC and it was so painful. I think it was only classed as mild so I feel for you.

@XjustagirlX how you feeling lovely? Do you think you'll have transfer booked for tomorrow or weds? X

Someone tell us to step away from the tests

We tested yesterday evening and got the faintest of faint, almost not visible at all, positive but then tested this morning and it was negative.

No sign of period which would be here by now so not giving up yet.

@2021babyhope as I got ohss and my ovaries were incredibly swollen. I was advised to do a freeze all. I’m waiting for my day 5 update which will be tomorrow. Then I need to find out when the transfer will be. Thé consultant who did the EC said they usually want a withdrawal bleed and then 2 periods. And then we transfer on that third period. But he said we could transfer on the second period if we wanted to.hopefully my allocated consultant will agree. So assuming we can go at the second period ET would be october.

@XjustagirlX I was told I was high risk for OHSS before the cycle because I have PCOS and also hit other risk factors. I have a very high AMH (more than 100) and I was on a short protocol. Good luck with the transfer!

@LargeYorkshirePuddingAndGravy argh noooo the testing! How many days post transfer? Still time as you say. Does the medication not stop a period from coming? I had assumed you wouldn't get one until stopping the progesterone?

Evening All, im officially pupo! Tbf it wasn't so bad. The most uncomfortable part is where they scan you with your bladder half full. Apart from that its fine. 2ww argh.

@53rds that sounds really rough! I hope you're feeling better... your body has been through a lot to produce all those eggs, but sounds like you may never need to do that again... fingers crossed that your numbers stay super high :)

@Bethpalmer20 I hope your period wasn't too terrible and you're coping OK with everything... Nice to see you can transfer again soon, and we might be close in time again as I'm estimating a transfer beginnig of Sept if we do get embryos to transfer. Keeping everything crossed for you as always

@Bobtat the last few days before OTD really drag out... I hope the weekend comes soon for you. Sounds like a good plan to test before your friends arrive though, and 1 day shouldn't make much difference. Fingers crossed - it's nowhere near over yet!

@alexm06 I really had no symptoms at all except a tiny tiny amount of boob tenderness which I was probably just imagining out of a desperation to find a symptom. This is why I was fairly sure it hadn't worked!
