IVF July/August 2021

Hi everyone.

I couldn't find a thread for ivf cycles July/August 2021 so I hope it's OK to start one. I was on the March/April thread for my fresh cycle and it was so nice to have support from others going through the same thing.

My fresh cycle was successful but unfortunately I miscarried at 8 weeks pregnant. We are start a frozen cycle with one of our 2 frozen embryos. Aiming to start tablets around the 10th July with the hope of transfer towards the end of July.

Would love to know if anyone else is in the same boat or has any tips!

@Bobtat I'm sorry about your difficult ET and I hope your 2ww will be a much smoother experience! Everything crossed for a positive outcome :)

So apparently I'm allergic to something in the Utrogestan. My nether regions were I've been changed to something else now that seems a bit better.

My last blood test went well but I've been having some terrible stomach cramps recently so it's hard to be too hopeful.

@Bobtat sorry about the transfer. I had an awful egg collection this time so was very wary about the transfer but luckily at least that went ok.

Sympathy for anyone who's had bad news recently Take care of yourselves, it just takes so much out of you.

Had my egg collection today, I don’t want to give an exact number but I’m pretty shocked by how many eggs they got: more than 60! I had been feeling very uncomfortable over the last few days and it looks like mild OHSS. I was going to have to do a frozen cycle anyway because of the PGD but it’ll be good to give my body a break. Just waiting to see what happens with fertilisation and biopsy.

Familiar signs which I hope is a good thing but cyclohexane can mimic symptoms so I'm always a bit wary...

@Towerpin sorry to hear the collection was tough. It's such a process!

I've only ever tested on the day you are supposed to (day 10 for my clinic) before and planning to hold out this time too. Takes a lot of patience hey?

@beachbum85 thank you 🥰 just started Cyclogest 🥴 I think I preferred the injections!

Does anyone have any tips for a smooth transfer?

@Bobtat yeah ok at the moment no symptoms so not feeling too positive but going to try and hold out till test date hopefully haha. Yeah it's annoying medication can be the same symptoms hopefully it's a good sign for you! X

@beachbum85 drink lots of water. You want your bladder super full (even though its really uncomfortable) as it allows them to visualise everthing and place the embryo more accurately. Just had my third transfer and they said the only reason it was so tricky this time was because the catheter that the embryo is inserted through was getting stuck on my internal c-section scarring. The other two transfers I've had were quick and easy and resulted in my two lovely children  I think it's normally pretty straightforward/down to the skill of the person doing the transfer.

Hi all

I have had my ET today on day 3.
Out of the 3 fertilised we only had 2 that were progressing although they were only a 4cell and a 6 cell both have been transferred

We were hoping for a 5 day transfer but the clinic advised as we only have 2 left to put them in now.

The optimal cell number for day 3 is 8cells
Not great odds but as everyone say they are better in than out and only takes 1.

The 2ww starts now but have a really strange feeling it’s not going to work this time 😞
Amd the test date is the day of my brothers wedding celebrations. I may test 3 days after just not to ruin my mood during the celebrations.

I'm hoping they do a day 5 for me as I'm still quite sore from EC on Thursday 😭 hoping a few more days and I'll be better.

Hey guys. So I decided to do a FRER today.....OTD is tomorrow....BFN of course! Had a bad gut feeling from the start. That's my 3rd go...had fresh failed, FET chemical and now this is 2nd FET. We have 3 embryos left. My clinic is private but has a massive waiting list....so your talking 6 months between each go......that waiting list is killing me as well....usually pre covid you had a normal period then could start straight away! Good luck to everyone on their 2WW....it's torture....hang in there.

@chocolate336 im sorry to hear that. Sometimes you can transfer you're frozen embryos to another clinic. Maybe that may be quicker x

It looks like I'll be doing transfer on Tuesday! All 6 embryos have made it to 4 cells and all top grades 🥰 never thought I'd get here!

@PurpleUnicorn01 We have paid for 2 cycles with Access Fertility so I'm not sure if we would be able to move our embryos. What are the waiting lists like where you are....I'm N.I

Good luck anyone due an embryo transfer soon. Amd im sorry to hear some of your stories. It is a tough cruel road. Im dreading the 2ww. I have my transfer on Monday. Everyone is like stay calm. Im like erm how lol

@PurpleUnicorn01 We are on the NHS waiting list too over here and we've just had our investigations done....and now we've been told it's about an 18 month waiting list

@2021babyhope fantastic news!!! That's great - everything crossed.

@chocolate336 I'm so sorry, that must be really hard to have to go through that again :( that is a really long wait for a private clinic (and the NHS one is unbelievable ) but I hope the time flies so you can get to your embabies asap xx

I don't suppose anyone who's been on/currently on cyclogest knows how to ease the sore boobs? Literally killing me at the moment and it's only day 3!
