IVF July/August 2021

Hi everyone.

I couldn't find a thread for ivf cycles July/August 2021 so I hope it's OK to start one. I was on the March/April thread for my fresh cycle and it was so nice to have support from others going through the same thing.

My fresh cycle was successful but unfortunately I miscarried at 8 weeks pregnant. We are start a frozen cycle with one of our 2 frozen embryos. Aiming to start tablets around the 10th July with the hope of transfer towards the end of July.

Would love to know if anyone else is in the same boat or has any tips!

@XjustagirlX don't worry about ovulating early. You won't - I felt like I had ovulation pain this time around but it was all fine.

@2021babyhope best of luck for EC tomorrow. My favourite bits are the sedative and the biscuits!!

@SerendipitySunshine I know what you mean about already having a child. I am definitely aware of how lucky I am and this is a different situation for when I was doing IVF for number 1. But you've still every right to want to complete your family. Fingers crossed for success.

Hi all, sorry I have not posted for a while. Had my egg collection yesterday and 22 eggs were collected.
Just had a call from the embryologist to say that they could perform ICSI on 17 eggs and 4 of them have fertilised. We were initially worried about zero fertilisation due to sperm issues so 4 fertilised is some good news. Now we have to wait until Monday to see if any reach the blastocyst stage and suitable for transfer. Just praying for them to pull through.

Just jumping back on this thread now that I've finally started stimming for IVF round 4 (sadly only 1 ET from the previous 3 cycles). Its been about a year since my 3rd IVF round and I had forgotten how much sweating and tiredness you get during stimming. Egg collection date currently not confirmed, to be determined after my scan next week as I'm on a different protocol from the last 3 rounds.

Still catching up on the thread but it sounds like quite a few people have had collection already. 🤞for anyone in their tww.

@53rds good your scan went well! Best of luck for tomorrow - 20 is an amazing number so I hope they manage to get as many of them as possible 🤞🏼🤞🏼

@Helene2019 hi again! great to hear you've started stimming but I hope the side effects don't get too difficult for you. Good luck for your scan next week and here's hoping that this protocol will lead to a better outcome :)

Sorry @Purplemichelle I feel your pain.
I am also devastated.
I had a negative test today 9 days past a frozen embryo transfer. I was told I had a 70 percent chance as had the embryo genetically tested and it was fine. If the embryos okay what other reasons are gathered for the transfer not resulting in pregnancy? I don’t get why it didn’t implant, so sad. My doctor said it’s still early so test again in 2 days but I can imagine it’s likely to still be negative.
I didn’t realise it was possible to cry this much but hopefully this isn’t the end of the road.

Sorry to bring sad news to this feed too. Sending everyone baby dust and hope you all get a happy ending to your Ivf journey x

I'm so sorry @BeccaT123 :( so sad and it must be super difficult having been given such good odds... sending you a big hug and lots of strength. You'll get through it but nothing wrong with a good cry to let it all out xx

Collected 7 eggs in total so I'm super happy - our clinic decided to do ICSI so just waiting for my call tomorrow to see how many fertilise xx

Hi @BeccaT123 I'm so sorry to hear this. Sometimes it really is just chance and things not quite matching up, unfortunately. You didn't do anything wrong!

I’m so sorry to hear of all the BFNs. This is such a tough thing to go through.

Currently having the period from hell. The nurse said it would be heavier than normal but this has knocked me sideways. Just another horrible reminder the cycle didn’t work.

Hi so I had EC this morning. They collected 19 follicles within optimum range. I’ll e told tomorrow how many were nature and how many have fertilised with icsi.

My ovaries were really swollen and I need to do a freeze all cycle because of the ohss risk. I was expecting that anyway so it’s not too much of a shock. I have been fine and no pain through stims expect this morning when I was in agony. I was so bloated. I had bureselin too which I hear us supposed to be better for OHSS? Does anyone know about this? I’m also wondering if I should have gone in on Wednesday and that would have reduced my pain this morning?

Btw I was completely out of it in the EC and there was nothing to worry about.

@Purplemichelle it really is the last thing you need after everything you've just been through :( I hope you feel better soon. My period after the last round was a nightmare too... I remember doing Bettina Rae's yoga for painful periods and just crying and crying... I think tea and biscuits must be a better way to go xx

Thankyou @beachbum85 I will hear from them on Monday. My clinic does not do day 3 updates. I am booked in for a scan tomorrow. I think it's to check whether I can go ahead with a fresh transfer or will need to freeze and have a frozen transfer if we have anything left on Monday.

@BeccaT123 sorry to hear you’re going through negative tests. I have no idea on why the embryos don’t implant although from what I’m told it’s down to a chromosome problem with the embryo itself. Nature’s way of rejecting I guess. Hoping for good news for you. X

Hi @beachbum85, I’m still waiting to test — it seems a lot of clinics advise testing earlier than mine, but if I’m going to be disappointed, I may as well put it off until the day they told me to test, I reckon! 10 August.

Hello everyone

Hope everyone is having a good morning so far. I hope it’s ok for me to join - I’ve never posted on here before but would be lovely to chat to others going through the process.

I am 2DPT on a FET cycle and wondered if anyone else is in the throes of the 2WW? I unexpectedly, had a very difficult ET this week which shook me up quite a bit - it took 3 different doctors almost 45 mins to get the embryo in so feeling a pretty unsure about how it’s gone!

Anyone else had a tough ET or currently waiting to test?

I'm sorry you had such a horrible transfer. I can't say mine was apart from my bladder being too full so I was only hurting because I needed to wee so much haha but other then that was pretty straight forward.
I'm pretty chill at the moment but it's still early days only had cramping but that's probably the cyclogest.

So I’ve had a call from the clinic. Of the 19 eggs collected, 18 were mature. 15 have fertilised. Of the 3 which didn’t fertilise, one never fertilised and she thinks they messed up on the icsi injection and the other 2 fertilised abnormally. For us now comes the scary bit getting to day 5. we have a sperm fragmentation issue so fingers crossed we get enough past day 3 and to blastocyst stage.

6 out of our 7 eggs fertilised! I'm literally over the moon! Just waiting until tomorrow to find out if we're doing transfer on Saturday or Tuesday but I'm hoping for Tuesday 🤞🏼
