how long has everyone been trying on clomid for?
This is my first round CD10 for me now Going to start now. What monitoring is everyone getting? I am doing urine samples every 7 days to see if I've OV. If not then getting put up a does I think.

J90A · 28/06/2021 08:41

I'm also trying really hard not to get too excited as it may not work feeling nervous at the same time!!

Shelleybe · 28/06/2021 10:09

@J90A I’m cycle 4 on 50mg. I get day 21 blood tests to check for ovulation but that is only monitoring. I was ovulating before Clomid but this def has boosted it way higher. Unfortunately hasn’t worked yet

@Luna1108 any change on Clearblue

Shelleybe · 28/06/2021 19:51

How’s everyone? I’m totally deflated. Cramps feel like AF is coming. This was my fourth cycle and last one prescribed by gynaecologist… gutted to be honest. Maybe Mum is never going happen for me…

J90A · 28/06/2021 20:02

@Shelleybe don’t give up! What’s your next stage after this one? Is there more meds for you xx

Shelleybe · 28/06/2021 20:13

Aw thanks @J90A not sure to be honest. I have HSG few days once period starts and I guess IVF. My partner is 2 years younger. We only together a few years and not married so I’m thinking maybe it is not fair to him… like he said when we first met he wanted kids and that was most important thing to him. I am 37 now so I had accepted a few years ago that it might not even happen for me (not even knowing about unexplained infertility) it’s hard. Maybe it’s fairer to walk away. I guess it’s a bit of a head struggle at the minute. Praying for you. We need some good positive news in this thread. I would love to see loads of BFPs

Luna1108 · 28/06/2021 20:24

@lastbany positives and smiley faces! OPKs peaked yesterday and can see it’s going down today. So Ov will be tonight/tomorrow I think. 11 days running of bd?! Christ lol.

@J90A I’m on my 4th cycle with 1 more after this. Got a phone call with consultant tomorrow to talk what’s next I think. I was monitored with scans/blood tests with the first 2 rounds then these 2 rounds have just been bloods to make sure I ovulated.

@Shelleybe I’m so sorry you feel down, I said the same thing to my husband. I got some shaky blood test results today and that sent me into a tailspin telling him he should marry someone else. Do you have next steps planned?

Clomid journey thread 2!
Shelleybe · 28/06/2021 20:43

@Luna1108 haha! Ya be over the BDing haha! I guess it would be IVF but to be honest I think I have lost heart… I’m not sure how I feel at the moment about going through it all. The BFNs, ovulation tests everything feels so forced and disappointing and I feel a huge pressure. He always said he would marry me after kids so like it’s almost like I feel I’m not worthy now..

Hello all - I am back… after about a 45 day cycle, AF finally came and I just started taking the Clomids again :) third and last round (for now).

I am having some issues getting a follow-up with the NHS, so I will start (and pay) with a private clinic now… I am 37 now, so no time to loose - but still praying the Clomid works this time round!

@J90A - good luck! I actually have a Clomid baby, conceived on my first round of 50.

@Shelleybe - I am so so sorry this hasn’t worked so far :( are you going through the NHS? It helped me to get a second opinion and some private tests, just to know there’s hope beyond Clomid - it wasn’t that expensive overall (although IVF is pretty unaffordable for me sadly).

ItsAlice · 28/06/2021 23:10

Hi

Hope you don’t mind if I join you all! I’ve been scouring the internet on my phone for some kind of clomid support thread and there isn’t much out there! I’m 33 and the dreaded AF caught me today (boooo). We’ve got a 4 year old daughter and have been TTC a second child for 18 months. Many bumps in the road including 2 losses and in April I had a laparoscopy in which one of my tubes was removed as they think that was what was causing the fertility issues and losses (it was the size of a melon apparently and absolute agony!). I’ve gone back to the same private consultant who has prescribed me clomid (I’ve not had any other fertility tests except DH had a SA and I’ve had the antibody test). I’m taking my first tablet tomorrow plus have 3 “dates with Wanda” booked in this cycle - I am a mix of excited, nervous and dreading what feels will be more inevitable failures!

Anyway, that’s the potted history, I’d love to join in the clomid club chat if you’ll have me!

Alice

Hey everyone,

I'm Alice, I'm 26 and I have PCOS. I was diagnosed with is in 2018, after miscarrying. We used clomid with my daughter and was lucky enough to get pregnant on cycle 1 after a year with no luck!

The doctor has confirmed I do not ovulate on my own.
We are now trying for baby 2, 3 years later. I'm on CD 4, day 3 of clomid! This is our first cycle on clomid for baby 2 🤞🏻

J90A · 29/06/2021 10:08

Hello @ItsAlice @alice2435

Welcome :) hopefully we get some good news on this thread soon! I am going to get some OPKs to see if I've ov they have never worked in the past for me as I have pcos and very irregular cycles.

I just cant wait to even see if I have managed to OV to see if they worked!

xx

ItsAlice · 29/06/2021 10:41

What are the chances of two Clomid taking Alices in the same day turning up on the same thread :)

Everything crossed for you all. @J90A hope the ovulation tests work. I am awful at reading them, so we have been using the clearblue digital one with the flashing/static smiling face which is very user friendly. Not sure how people managed before Amazon existed with stuff like that :)

Have set my alarm for my first clomid this evening, oddly exciting. What time do people tend to take them? I saw online someone saying to take it at the evening so that you sleep through any side effects more so that is my plan I think.

xx

J90A · 29/06/2021 10:55

I know haha.

Thanks I might give them a try! oh I wish I had done that. I took mine in the morning and terrible hot flushes at work made me feel sick. I was also really hot at night still mind you waking up in sweats! that's the only side effects I had I would say! the last 2 days I was struggling with it thank god its only the 5 days!

Shelleybe · 29/06/2021 11:07

Aw best of luck to everyone starting new cycles and welcome

Thanks @J90A just so frustrating

I’m Cycle 4 and AF just started. I was only prescribed 4 cycles so I guess I’m out now… will see what doc says to do next

ItsAlice · 29/06/2021 11:29

Yeah you are right @J90A - it's probably a depressing glimpse into our menopausal (far off) future selves!

@Shelleybe Oh no that's so rubbish, im sorry to hear that. I heard it sticks in your system giving it a boost for several months so hope that is the case for you. I know you can do up to 6 cycles is it, so maybe you can do a couple more whilst you weigh up other options with the doctor perhaps?

J90A · 29/06/2021 12:39

@ItsAlice absolutley! not looking forward to that at all.

I was under the impression that on clomid I should have a cycle of around 28 days, probably neively expecting the best outcome!. I noticed some people have said that they have had 45 day cycles etc.. has it been regular even at that length? I just want to be able to trak for once! lol

adarkhorse · 29/06/2021 14:00

Hi @ItsAlice and @alice2435 :)

Exciting times! Hoping for good news for you (and everyone else) soon. I also had my first baby on Clomid first time round, so easy! Sadly no luck this time so far :( but I am a bit older than you, maybe that plays a role. I have PCOS and never ovulate I think, but the OPKs work fine for me under Clomid.

@J90A - I had a 45 days last cycle, no clue what went on… I did have my vaccination though, maybe that played a role. The time before on Clomid I had a 32 day cycle and ovulated around day 18 (confirmed with blood testand OPKs), so that seemed fine too.

lastbany · 29/06/2021 14:08

@adarkhorse I had a 66 day one first round lol

J90A · 29/06/2021 14:13

@lastbany@adarkhorse

aw really, wish I was getting better monitoring im so impatient and feels as if whats the point if i still don't know wait date i Ov lol. still on a guessing game!

adarkhorse · 29/06/2021 14:57

@J90A - I think my post just disappeared, but I was going to say when Clomid actually did work for me for my first pregnancy, I never got a positive OPK Grin but the waiting is the worst, yes!

Luna1108 · 29/06/2021 16:45

Hi @alice2435 @ItsAlice and welcome! And @adarkhorse welcome back!

So I spoke with consultant today after some shitty blood results but she seemed pretty chilled about them to be honest. Not worried about them so I feel better, barely slept last night waiting for my phone call back. I have to say the biggest upside of private is the immediacy of everything. I’m horribly impatient.

I’m CD14 today and think I Ovd last night or maybe today as I’ve had some definite pulling sensations which is what usually happens. Starting progesterone again tomorrow though unfortunately, hate the stuff.

@Shelleybe I’m so sorry the witch turned up, it’s devastating. Are you hoping to do anything in particular? Like are you set for/against ivf?

Luna1108 · 29/06/2021 16:48

@ItsAlice gotta love those Wanda dates! Are you doing monitoring?

@alice2435 always good to hear successes with clomid. Here’s hoping for a stream of them here this month!

ItsAlice · 29/06/2021 17:59

@Luna1108 - yep, I’ve gone privately to the consultant who did my laparoscopy (luckily my bupa covered that but it’s obviously not covering this!!) so am having three follicle tracking scans. Hope your month is going well!!

It’s so refreshing to be on a group where it’s not just a stream of people getting pregnant on the first month TTC, the jealousy for me is so so real in those situations, whereas in a group of people on a similar journey, where they are grafting to get pregnant, it’s much more of an inspiration and happiness if someone gets pregnant with only the tiniest smidge of jealousy 🤣🤣.

lastbany · 30/06/2021 11:52

I've not been using ovulation sticks there so expensive and I'm not good at doing stuff same time day! Lol so guessing app says ovulation today!!
