@seathistle sorry to hear that, how many months of clomid have you tried and have you tried anything else? I hear the waiting list can be long so at least you are now on the list and the success rates are quite good

adarkhorse · 26/08/2021 09:54

I am sorry @seathistle - hope you are getting your head around it in the next few days! It’s definitely a step up from just taking pills… but if it’s any help, this last cycle with all the injections and monitoring wasn’t as bad as I thought and I feel like so could attempt IVF in the future now, which I never though I would be able to. But it’s just not the position you want to find yourself in…

seathistle · 29/08/2021 20:51

@adarkhorse @s154 thank you both.

It's a lot to take in - it's so weird when I tell people it's happening I feel like I'm talking about someone else! Total denial! So weird.

Marvellouslymadmum · 30/08/2021 16:21

Hi all I'm back 👋🏻 hi to the new people! how are you all doing? Any success stories yet? I finally had my gynae appointment last week and she wasn't interested in my endo/adeno at all but wants to try me on clomid. So having bloods done tomorrow to check amh & progesterone then should get a phone call from her in a couple of weeks confirming when I can start, she said she will do 3 or possibly 6 rounds of clomid 🤞🏻

beth1311 · 31/08/2021 12:42

Hi everyone, is it ok if I jump on here?

My AMH test results came back as 61.5 which at 33 years old, the consultant said was high.
She suggested Clomid to help, but was concerned about over stimulation.

Has anyone had a high AMH and gone on to use clomid successfully?
Can you please share your stories?

While it was good news, I still feel a bit lost as to what happens now. It's all very overwhelming and I don't really know what any of it means 😞

Kay00 · 31/08/2021 15:59

Hi Beth! I also have a very high AMH level (64), my consultant suggested I haven't been ovulating since I came off the pill over a year ago. She suggested Metformin (I've been on it 5 weeks now) and I'm starting Clomid on my next cycle (which should start in about 2 weeks... as I think I just ovulated).

I am also a but worried about over stimulating too, but my Clomid cycles will be monitored by the clinic, so I feel in safe hands. Will your Clomid cycles be monitored?

beth1311 · 31/08/2021 17:34

What is metformin? My consultant didn't mention that.

I want to go ahead with it but I've done all this privately, and it's another £295 for the 1 month treatment, which is 5 days tablets and 4 scans and a follow up consultation/pregnancy scan (if I'm lucky)

I tried to ring gynae on nhs to see where I am on the waiting list and they couldn't tell me, but my friend has been waiting for over a year so I'm not holding out hope!

I did read that some people said not getting Nhs treatment if you went privately, and it's all got me worried! X

beth1311 · 31/08/2021 17:34

Sorry @Kay00 that message was for you! How're you feeling with everything?

adarkhorse · 31/08/2021 19:54

@beth1311 - welcome! I also have high AMH (51.5 at 37) which is usually a sign for PCOS (not that the label really matters). I also take Metformin, I would ask the consultant about it. My GP prescribed it to me.

I had my first child on a low dose of Clomid (unmonitored as not offered by my hospital here) on the NHS 2 years ago. I went private for the second one now as the NHS waiting list is long… but I haven’t heard of one excluding the other? Oh, and £295 is a good price, it’s over £500 where I am.

adarkhorse · 31/08/2021 19:58

@Kay00 - I had some concerns with overstimulation too, but the monitoring really seemed effective and they were quite careful on the dosage. I probably wouldn’t do an unmonitored cycle again (although it was free when I had it and I have one healthy child from it).

Kay00 · 31/08/2021 21:07

@adarkhorse @beth1311 I'm paying private too, but have no idea how much a monitored Clomid cycle will be 😆 the website doesn't say.

beth1311 · 31/08/2021 22:01

@adarkhorse my GP was pretty uninterested and just fobbed me off to gynae, where I feel I'll be waiting forever!
Maybe the exclusion is for IVF but I can't imagine that happening? I don't know.
I'm gonna ask some more questions about it, they want me to have a fallopian xray with the dye, but I don't think it's entirely necessary. Did you have anything like that?

Also if you don't mind me asking, was it easier to catch with your first when you were on clomid?

@Kay00 the people I'm with have been pretty transparent, but as I said above, they've suggested the fallopian thing and I don't really think it's necessary! Maybe it's the sceptic in me haha x

s154 · 31/08/2021 22:31

@beth1311 I am also private but I only paid about £250 for an initial appointment and £180 for a scan and blood test to check follicles and if I have ovulated. That was month 1 and the last 2 months I have left to my own devices. I have been told I do a lap dye test if this cycle fails (#3) as there is a chance tubes could be blocked so don't want to waste the clomid, but that is £600 so quite steep!!

I asked about private affecting NHS and I was told it only affects IVF as if you pay for a cycle you then lose your free NHS one. Hope that helps!

adarkhorse · 01/09/2021 09:54

@beth1311 @s154 - I had my Fallopian tubes checked twice on the NHS before starting Clomid - seemed a bit pointless, I would have rather gone Clomid first! But seems to be common practice.

On a side note, the Clomid worked like a spell for me on the first round, but it now hasn’t worked for conceiving the second child and I have done one round gonadotropin injections wow. So it’s good to get the monitoring as Clomid doesn’t work for everyone.

J90A · 05/09/2021 14:14

Hey hope everyone is well!!

I've had a migraine headache for a few days and someone at work told me they get hormonal migraines. As I've got pcos I've never had a regular period until now.

However this is the first time I've had headaches and im on cycle 3 so might be totally unrelated.

Anyone else had headaches? I'm CD22, 6 DPO

XX

s154 · 05/09/2021 21:13

@J90A funnily enough I have had splitting migraines the last few days on my clomid 3rd round. I used opk this month and had a static smiley from clear blue yesterday, trying to do the SMEP plan this month!

When are you going to test?

J90A · 05/09/2021 21:28

@s154 oh really! I wonder if it is that then I might phone the nurses to see if it's a side effect.

I used opks as well and got positive on 30th august. BD 27th 29th and 31st.

I did plan on not testing until I'm late but I might do a clear blue early test on Wednesday 🤦‍♀️. I do feel like I'm more chilled about it this month and not expecting a BFP and I'll be ok with it. But I'm sure that might change when I get a BFN lol. Xx

Marvellouslymadmum · 06/09/2021 11:58

@J90A I don't get hormonal headaches but I know someone who does and headaches are one of the most common side effects of clomid too.

Clomid1 · 06/09/2021 15:56

Hi everyone

Round 1 of clomid finished.
Bloods came back on day 21 as 63 so definitely ovulated
Bfn this morning at 11dpo
AF due today because my LP was short.
Cervix is low and hard so seems like I am out.
Really really gutted and very down. Please cheer me up and tell me there is still a chance I’ll get there

J90A · 06/09/2021 20:13

@Clomid1 so sorry. I was the same on my first and second very down. I think because it problem was not ovulating and now I am with clomid but still not pregnant so wondering what else could be wrong! What are you issues ? I have pcos.

If it helps my sister in law got pregnant after 4 month. (Naturally) so that made me think of cycle 1 as my first proper go. I'm testing on Wednesday at 9 dpo with a FRER but I'm not hopeful. Even though I'm trying to prepare myself for a BFN I know I will gutted. I'm just trying to let myself be sad and upset when I feel it.

Does anyone else feel like no one prepares you for the emotional rollercoaster this is?! Doctors were very clinical and I wasn't prepared for the emotions.

J90A · 07/09/2021 08:12

P.s 8 DPO and incredibly emotional today. Trying to hold back tears at work. I'm due AF on Monday. I'm assuming this is PMS

Is there any hope that this could be a BFP symptom? Sad

Marvellouslymadmum · 07/09/2021 23:54

@J90A pms symptoms and pregnancy symptoms are so similar you can definitely have hope - you're not out until af arrives 🤞🏻

@Clomid1 sorry you're feeling low, I used to get like this every month it still happens sometimes but not as often any more. I haven't started the clomid yet though

J90A · 08/09/2021 07:18

@Marvellouslymadmum thanks.

I done an early test today the 6 days before missed period one. 9 DPO CD 25 due AF on Monday BFN

not even so am much as a faint line. Will keep trying this is the month i said I would wait until missed aAF 🤦‍♀️😂

Clomid is working as in I am ovulating now so I don't understand how I'm still not pregnant

s154 · 08/09/2021 08:09

@J90A I completely understand how you feel, it is taking over my life it seems and my partner thinks I am overreacting! Same here, ovulating every month so fingers crossed it catches on cycle 3 but I am starting to be cynical if it will ever work...

J90A · 08/09/2021 08:18

@s154 you have pcos aswell don't you? We done everything right this month I done opks and bd every 2 days around the positive time. I keep reading things that sperm survives up to 5 days and if bd day before and after ov then how can it possibly not have worked! I just don't get it especially when people get pregnant without trying. I'm starting to feel that way too! What stage are you at? X
