@Raindrop25 - congratulations, that’s amazing! Well done on sticking with it - I am totally hoping for round 4 myself right now :)

Do it, get the early scan, best money I ever spent on #1! And yes, the worrying is real - I hardly bought any baby stuff right until the end for that reason.

J90A · 17/08/2021 10:20

I've started round 3 of clomid today. Not feeling very well wondering if it is the clomid tablet!

Omg congratulations @Raindrop25!! Glad to seem some positive news on here gives me hope ❤️

X

J90A · 17/08/2021 22:18

Day 1 of clomid cycle 3 I am not feeling well hot flushes crying feeling sick tired sore head anyone else had this? X

Kay00 · 18/08/2021 14:51

Hi ladies, do you mind if I join?

Firstly - huge congrats to @raindrop25!! That's a strong positive!
Secondly - @J90A Sorry to hear you are getting nasty symptoms, are you feeling any better today?

Thirdly - a little about me:

  • I'm 36 years old and have been TTC since May 2020. My cycles were erratic (38 to 47 days long, plus a few anovulatory).
  • In April/May 2021 I went privately for tests at my local fertility clinic. All my blood tests came back fine but my AMH was very high (64 Pmol/L), my consultant thinks this means I haven't been ovulating this past year Sad. My OH's SA was fine. A scan of my ovaries showed they were enlarged and had high number of follicles... so I was diagnosed with PCOS.
  • A few months ago I started taking Conceive Plus Ovulation Support, and my cycles have regulated themselves - 28 to 30 days long with a nice temp jump between CD14 and 18... so I'm hoping that means I'm ovulating. But I suppose it doesn't mean I'm popping out good eggs.
  • I have started Metformin: I am 3 weeks in, and on 1000mg daily and will be increasing to 1500mg daily from next week... so far my symptoms have been reduced appetite and nausea (burgh!)
  • I am currently in CD5 and plant to start my first Clomid cycle next cycle. If my cycles continue to play ball then I should be starting it Mid-September. I will be monitored, but I have to admit I am concerned about OHSS/Clomid resistance given that my AMH levels are so high!

I'm also worried about they symptoms of course - eek! Grin

s154 · 18/08/2021 21:47

@J90A I had worse symptoms on the first cycle, second but they were manageable, it wasn't as bad but I did have quite bad hot flushes.

@Kay00 welcome! Don't worry about Clomid symptoms, I had 50mg and I felt a little like flu symptoms but I think it's worse as the dosage increases.

J90A · 19/08/2021 22:56

@Kay00 welcome!!

I've got pcos on cycle day 5. Clomid side effects were just the one day. Thank god!! 2 days to go on the tablets

When do people start doing opks?? Im gona monitor the levels this month. Xx

s154 · 20/08/2021 07:28

@J90A I never bothered with opks as consultant said not much use but given I think cycle 2 hasn't worked (day 29 BFN this morning) I am going to try everything next month! probably from around day 11 as that is the earliest day you would ov

J90A · 20/08/2021 08:17

@s154 aw so sorry!! It's awful eh. I will do the same day 11 fingers crossed for us!! Yeah last month I decided not to bother but done a couple when the app said I was ov and it seemed to be positive but I want to try see the surge this month. And try bd as much as possible! Xx

adarkhorse · 20/08/2021 13:04

@s154 - sorry :( Never a Good day when you get a BFN.

Hi @Kay00 - my story is pretty similar to yours really… very high AMH (50+) and long cycles (40 days). I have confirmed PCOS and also take Metformin. I conceived my first child (22 months now) on my first round of Clomid (50) unmonitored on the NHS, so there is hope! (Sadly conceiving number hasn’t been quite so straight forward so far and I feel that Clomid is failing me now).

adarkhorse · 20/08/2021 13:05

@Kay00 - *number 2 I was trying to say! I was your age (35) as well when I started.

Kay00 · 20/08/2021 17:17

@adarkhorse Ah, yes! Very similar Smile I don't want to get my hopes up too high for my first round of Clomid, just in case the BFN is too crushing, but its great to hear it was super helpful for you (the first time around at least...). I hope you are successful too!

Thank you for the welcome ladies!

@s154 sorry about the BFN. Do you know what day you ovulated? Could it be too early for you to test yet?

s154 · 20/08/2021 18:44

@Kay00 @adarkhorse I don't know when I ovulated but last month was 30 days so I assume day 16. I'll do a final test on Sunday but I think onto cycle 3! If this cycle doesn't work I have to have HSG. Has anyone had one?

adarkhorse · 20/08/2021 20:36

@Kay00 - yes, better to not get your hopes up too much ;) I am on cycle 4 now, waiting to test next week!

@s154 - I had two hycosys, not sure how similar that is… wasn’t as bad as I thought really, so I wouldn’t worry too much.

adarkhorse · 24/08/2021 10:11

So update - I obviously obviously couldn’t wait to dpo14 to test and did an early one (dpo11) and it has a faint line on it! Here’s to hoping that this isn’t still the trigger shot and it will become stronger soon Smile

Clomid journey thread 2!
J90A · 24/08/2021 10:43

@adarkhorse congratulations!! 😃 so exciting good to see another BFN.

Was this clomid cycle 4?

Xx

J90A · 24/08/2021 18:17

@adarkhorse sorry BFP I meant!!

adarkhorse · 24/08/2021 20:10

@J90A - thanks, let’s hope it stays that way and it will get stronger!

That was round 4 indeed, but I switched to injectables (Gonadotropins) instead of Clomid this time because I wasn’t convinced Clomid was working (although OPKs and blood tests looked okay).

Kay00 · 24/08/2021 20:46

Huge congratulations @adarkhorse !! I hope you get a really sticky bean xx

s154 · 24/08/2021 21:10

Congratulations @adarkhorse !! Did you get the injections on the NHS or are you private?

adarkhorse · 25/08/2021 07:36

Thanks girls :) I am also praying this one sticks, it’s been too long and painful.

@s154 - this was private. My NHS trust is one of the most restricted ones for anything fertility and COVID hasnt helped. So after 3 rounds of Clomid I would have needed to wait at least 3 months to get another 3 rounds. Time is not exactly on my side (mid/late thirties), so I thought I pay this time and they suggested injections over Clomid for me.

Raindrop25 · 25/08/2021 08:01

Can I ask some advice!?

So I'm 5 weeks pregnant and this morning I put some mushrooms in with my spaghetti bolognese in my slow cooker, after which I realised the mushrooms were 6 days out of date, well 'best before 19th Aug' I didn't realise it was the 25th today!!

I would never of questioned it if I wasn't pregnant but will these be ok to eat? I'm abit wary!

I probably shouldn't of posted it on this thread but thought someone could help!? 🤨☺️

s154 · 25/08/2021 08:46

@adarkhorse interesting. I also went private too as it is a 3 month wait to see the NHS fertility clinic in my area (I am still on the wait list now!) . I think my plan is 6 months on clomid before moving onto another treatment however I am 26 so my consultant mentioned other drugs and ovarian drilling next so I am hoping clomid works but I may mention trigger shots

adarkhorse · 25/08/2021 09:34

@s154 - I think 6 months on Clomid is what I would have done too (if it works that is). Then there’s Letrozole and the Gonadotropin injections I had now, so a few things to try out :) I never had a trigger shot before, but the clinic told me when to use it and then you obviously know when exactly you are ovulating, which is somewhat useful (my Clomid ovulation dates seemed quite random).

adarkhorse · 25/08/2021 09:41

@Raindrop25 - did they look/smell completely normal? Personally, I would probably say fine. But of course, if you want to be 100% sure, avoid and feed to someone else :)

seathistle · 25/08/2021 12:07

Just been to our consultant. Hes recommended scrapping the clomid entirely for us and it's off onto ivf now. I think I am a bit in shock. Sounds so daunting at this time.
