Had a quick look through but can't find an existing thread. Anyone due to cycle in August after a bit of moral support?

We are due to start our 2nd cycle of icsi for male azoospermia and my premature ovarian aging (full house for us!)

Hi everyone could I please join? I've just received my protocol in the post today. We're having ICSI due to Male Factor and have EC pencilled in for early Sept. Where I live we get to have 1 round of treatment on the nhs. We actually started to have treatment in Jan this year but was cancelled last min due to a risk of OHSS. So we're about to begin the journey again. I start Norethisterone on 27/07 with first scan booked for 25/08 😊🤞

Raggity19 · 16/07/2020 18:07

@BaileyBadger4 hi 👋 I think I remember you from a previous thread! I’ve nc. Good luck for this cycle x

Bruce2 · 16/07/2020 19:17

Hi girls

I'm on day 7 of Norethisterone, finishing up on Saturday then bloods taken on 23rd and I assume I'll be shown how to do injections...
It's been 5 years since I last done IVF so completely forgotten.
First time we were at a different clinic in Scotland, now we're in South East England so everything slightly different.
Feeling nervous as I'm 5 years older and has 2 failed Frozen transfers

Good luck to everyone

One of my friends has been trying for the past year and has just called to say she’s pregnant 😭 I want to be happy for her but just feel so sad. This is so hard 😪

Oh I remember that feeling so well Felt like everyone fell pregnant so easily and I was trying so hard Massive hugs xxx
seven201 · 16/07/2020 20:28

Welcome to the new women.

@Raggity19 Thanks to you. The guilt of not feeling happy for other people is horrible.

I started norethisterone a couple of days ago and have got my mock embryo transfer on Tuesday so it's getting a bit real. I have polycystic ovaries and had a blocked tube unblocked a year ago. Our dd was conceived naturally nearly 5 years ago. My husband's motility is borderline so we did half icsi half ivf. The icsi ones did a little better. Got three that made it day 5 and this FET is using the last one.

Raggity19 · 16/07/2020 20:35

Thanks @Bruce2 and @seven201 I had a little cry and feel a bit better now. Need to try stay positive ❤️

UnicornPuff · 16/07/2020 21:04

Hi everyone, can i join. Found out today we can start not on my AF due tomorrow but on Augusts so any movement forward has made more excited than it should!
We are MFI azoospermia (missing tubes) and unfortunately found out on our first cycle also poor quality. I have a low AMH but no one in the clinic seems concerned about that and from long protocol dec/jan everything did well until day 3 and we found out on transfer day that out of our 5 doing well we were left with 1 poor quality blast and 1 slow morula, transferred both and neither stuck.

@Raggity19 I am sorry you are hurting so much now. I can only empathise. Both my best friend and sister in law are due in Sept if my last/first round had worked I would be right there with them. Instead having thought we would have had at least one more try done by now we havnt even started our second. I am so excited for them but I am so jealous/ sad for myself.

Raggity19 · 16/07/2020 21:21

@UnicornPuff thanks for sharing and Flowers it’s so hard isn’t it. But I think it’s good to vocalise it and these feelings are completely natural. But doesn’t make it any easier...

I feel like maybe you were on a previous thread too? I think I recognise your name! And we would have been due in September too should our first have gone to plan. I suspect we may see a few from earlier this year again this month/next as everything starts to reopen again. My DP has azoospermia too and no vas, is that the same as yours? How many eggs/fertilisation did you get?

UnicornPuff · 16/07/2020 21:28

@Raggity19 I think we were in the same group last time too. And i am sure more of us will pop up as we are able to get started again! Yeah missing Vas secondary to being a cystic fibrosis carrier. We had 9 collected, 5 fertilised and then like i said it then went a bit wrong! What about you?

Raggity19 · 16/07/2020 21:35

@UnicornPuff yes same as my DP! Well actually we found out he actually has CF (asymptomatic) as both his genes are mutated, which was a huge shock. Luckily I don’t carry any of the genes but our children will be carriers. Is your DPs just the one gene if he’s a carrier?
We had 14 but none fertilised...did they freeze your partners sperm? Our clinic seemed to think DPs didn’t survive the freeze but it did concern me that it could also be an egg issue. This time we are trying a fresh sperm retrieval alongside my egg collection

UnicornPuff · 16/07/2020 22:05

@Raggity19 just the one gene and I am not which is good. They froze his sperm and they seemed to think it looked good on the day. I am so sorry. We were told that the same with a FET there is a chance that the sperm won't survive the thaw.
If they are doing a joint collection/retrieval will you try to freeze some again?
We were told that there was not enough sperm In the vial that defrosted to use some solution to help they choose the best sperm so we have requested the defrost more this time so there will be. After 6 months and the obsession I now can't remember what it was called! Did they recommend anything to improve sperm quality?

Raggity19 · 16/07/2020 22:14

@UnicornPuff do they think the gene is responsible for the poor quality? Sorry, so many questions! I’ve just done so much research and can’t seem to get any clarity on what went so wrong. I think we will freeze some if we have enough, just incase. How many vials do you have left? We had 3, they used one and we sent the rest to sperm comet for a DNA fragmentation test which came back as normal. So my only guess is they must not have survived the thaw.
Yes we actually went down to London to see Dr Ramsay as he is a specialist and he recommended impryl which we both take. He also said no hot baths, no cycling or heated seats. There was another thread on here further down (I’m sure it had MFI in the title and there’s been a recent post in it) and the guy who wrote it recommended a load of supplements and said they made a huge difference to his quality so I bought them all haha. Have you been taking anything?

UnicornPuff · 17/07/2020 07:18

@Raggity19 thats really good news about the fragmentation test. It sounds like you had really poor luck with the thaw. If your DH is on supplements too now it just sounds like things are looking so much more positive for you.
We have 5 left. Discharged from the urologist as it looked like we had plenty! So only spoken to the gynae consultant and he was more interested in my drugs next time. When asked he said it can be bad luck as they take multiple aspirations from around the testicles. As the sperm doesn't have anywhere to go like a normal person we could have used the vial that had sperm that had been sitting there for months and was on its way out! However I am also aware that males with CF / carriers are known to have sub fertility. I wanted to go see Dr Ramsey but after we told that DH wants to try again. He really struggled with MFI and was starting to feel a bit better until then. So i think we have opted for an exceptionally expensive experiment and have agreed if we get the same results then we look at him some more.
DH is not on supplements as he has no plan/head in the sand but i am taking everything from it starts with an egg except DHEA as they retrieved plenty of eggs and i have read if you are not deficient it can have the opposite effect. It is worth reading there are loads of research articles broken down but she also goes into each supplement saying dont take if or it might be beneficial if. Are you taking anything?

Raggity19 · 17/07/2020 10:32

@UnicornPuff I wondered the same re the sperm, it could have been there a long time! So yes could just have been incredibly unlucky. We were advised by Dr Ramsay to have the sperm taken from the epididymis next time too. He’s absolutely brilliant I really recommend him but he is so expensive. Head in the sand sounds just like my DP too - incredibly frustrating but I try to be patient. I’m also taking impryl, and Pregnacare conception. Also vitamin d. Think that’s it. What are you taking?

seven201 · 17/07/2020 12:44

Like @UnicornPuff I'm taking all the supplements from it starts with the egg, as is dh. It's sooo expensive though! I have an old lady pill box for all the tablets Confused

UnicornPuff · 17/07/2020 15:26

@Raggity19 I attached a photo with all the supplements I take. Way too many to write myself! Xx

unknownscot · 19/07/2020 12:44

Hi guys.
We were at the clinic this morning so I start my tablets on 2 August and injections on 14th! So nervous but excited for our first IVF. I'm having a freeze all so won't be getting FET until end of sept/start of oct!
Hope ur all good x

kikisparks · 19/07/2020 14:30

@unknownscot so exciting! DH and I are at the clinic for virology bloods on Wednesday and we should get told more then about when I’ll start tablets etc. Did they decide to do freeze all for you because of OHSS? How are you feeling about it all?

unknownscot · 19/07/2020 16:07

@kikisparks Yeah, I have a very high AMH so worried about OHSS. They said it's better success rates for FET

Eggling · 19/07/2020 17:06

Hi to everyone whose joined since I last posted! I'm starting provera tomorrow to hopefully instigate a bleed around the start of August so i can start taking tablets for FET, if all goes to plan transfer should be around the middle of August 🤞 can't wait to get going now, mostly, except for the times I'm terrified! Here's hoping this is an extra lucky thread for us all.

Raggity19 · 19/07/2020 17:21

Good luck everyone! I’ve got my baseline scan tomorrow (the one I thought was last Monday haha). Think we will then start injections in about 10 days. X

Raggity19 · 20/07/2020 08:43

So I turned up on the right day and had my baseline. 35 follicles today which is my best ever and made me feel excited, although I’m not sure it necessarily means anything?! Got to have a consultation with the doctor now over zoom so a little worried I won’t be able to start this cycle. Hope everyone’s doing ok

kikisparks · 20/07/2020 09:51

@Raggity19 that sounds fantastic to me! Good luck for the consultation.

Oh wow! Amazing! Best of luck, sounds positive. I go for baseline on Thursday, hoping for some of your luck!!
