August IVF

Had a quick look through but can't find an existing thread. Anyone due to cycle in August after a bit of moral support?

We are due to start our 2nd cycle of icsi for male azoospermia and my premature ovarian aging (full house for us!)

I stoped taking the meds on Saturday (was day 9 of taking them)
The nurse said that I should be due to start bleeding tomorrow...but I don't feel like a period about to come on
No normal PMT symptoms - no breast tenderness etc.
Is that normal?

Raggity19 · 20/07/2020 13:34

@Bruce2 good luck for Thursday! I’m not sure but I do always think when you’re taking meds you can sometimes just forget what’s usually normal for you as I guess the meds take over. So hopefully it’s on it’s way!
They’ve booked in a zoom meeting for Saturday to confirm next steps which will be day 16 for me for this cycle so seems to be leaving it a little late as surely I’ll need to start downregging from day 21?!

unknownscot · 20/07/2020 16:35

So as this being my first round I wasn't too sure what the protocol was etc.
Anyway,

I've to take norethisterone for 7 days starting on CD21 of this month.

Then bleed.

Then start menopur and fyremadel.

Does anyone else have similar?

Me :)

I'm waiting on my bleed...meant to arrive tomorrow. Baseline and bloods on Thursday

unknownscot · 20/07/2020 17:54

@Bruce2 ok. I don't get a scan and bloods until about 7 days into starting my injections. Does that seem right?

StayingPositive8 · 20/07/2020 18:16

Hi all, hoping to join as I am due to start short protocol injections on Thursday (if AF arrives on time). First round of IVF following 2 miscarriages, low AMH and AFC, but keeping positive and looking forward to actually getting started!

kikisparks · 20/07/2020 18:20

@unknownscot just looking at my protocol and it says blood test and scan day 2 or 3 of cycle, start injections then, 5 days later blood test, 7 or 8 days after starting injections what it calls “first scan” then return every 1-2 days for a scan until one or more follicles are bigger than 17mm. Different protocols might have scans at different times though.

Oh I don't know.
Ive been through IVF before but I honestly can't remember the process!!

This time round does seem different

I had my first IVF in Glasgow and now I'm living in south east England so not sure if they do it differently...

Mseddy · 20/07/2020 19:54

Just caught up after not being on for a few days. @unknownscot protocols are very different so try not to worry too much if you dont seem to match up to others. I get a scan on about day 9 of injections/cycle. Last time I had that scan and then 3 days later I had my egg collection. I asked this time around if there was any benefit to being scanned earlier and my consulant said for my protocol no.

I have my baseline scan a week tomorrow and im actually petrified of the results. Im worried I have deteriorated alot since last cycle in October. I think my DH still isnt allowed in so ill be by myself when I find out which makes me even more scared! I think the closer I am getting to actually starting the more scared I'm getting.

Raggity19 · 20/07/2020 20:36

@Mseddy I felt exactly the same and I was so worried my first round would have had some kind of negative effect on my ovaries! My AMH is low for my age too. But it was so much better than I expected, everything looked healthy and I had a lot more follicles than last time (think last time I had around 20). I did have to go in by myself whilst DP waited in the waiting room, but it was over so quickly and I actually feel so much better. Hope that helps put your mind at rest. X

Mseddy · 20/07/2020 20:38

@Raggity19 I had 9 on my AFC in July last year and then 15 on my baseline pre treatment in October. I would be happy to still be around 15!

@Mseddy hopefully it won’t have changed much since then. It’s hard isn’t it because there’s always different hurdles to face and once you’ve got over one there’s always another, but I just always try and tell myself I just need one really good egg (And a good sperm in our case) and that will hopefully be enough. X

zoeyj · 21/07/2020 09:06

Hey guys!
How is everyone doing?

Raggity19 Well done on 35 follies, that’s a great number :) Hope the consultation goes well on Saturday.

Bruce2 Did your AF show up yet? I’m waiting for mine too and it’s making me so anxious :( I’ve never wanted a period so badly in my entire life. Just want to get started.

Also is anyone taking ebiquinol?

Xxx

StayingPositive8 · 21/07/2020 09:44

@zoeyj I’m the same, waiting for AF on Thursday! And yes I’ve been taking ubiquinol, as has my OH if that helps

zoeyj · 21/07/2020 10:04

@StayingPositive8 Ooo thanks. I might get some for me and DH too. Bit late I know but hey. Ahh we are in the same boat! I’m hoping to start tomorrow/Thursday. When did you come off your meds? I was on Provera. Yesterday my boobs felt like they were about to drop off, bit better today though. Are you on long protocol too? xx

StayingPositive8 · 21/07/2020 10:23

@zoeyj I'm on the short/mild protocol so no down regging etc. I just start my Bemfola injections on day 2 (so hopefully Friday/Saturday). With the ubiquinol make sure you speak to your doctor before you take it as it can sometimes delay cycles in the beginning x

zoeyj · 21/07/2020 10:30

@StayingPositive8 oh nice!
I’m on long protocol. So will be on down reg drugs to begin with. Okay thanks for the tip. I’ll ask him first. Hope the next few days till we get AF pass quickly for us both! Xxx

Mseddy · 21/07/2020 10:41

I take ubiquinol, been on it since last time so like a year almost! I changed from the not so good (cant remember its name) coq10 to the better ubiquinol about 3 months ago so im hoping thats helped! Ive also been taking DHEA so im hoping that has had a positive impact on my POF as well, although i do have wobbles every now and again about my clinic not knowing ive been taking it! I read a research paper based in the UK with a study group of 30 women, 15 placebo and 15 DHEA, there where 7 live births in the DHEA group compared with only 1 in the placebo group. I decided id take the risk of not knowing the long term health impacts and take it!

zoeyj · 21/07/2020 15:15

@Mseddy Heyy thanks for the info! Haha you sound like me. I’ll literally do anything to get pg! I’ve been reluctant to take DHEA/ubiquinol because I have PCOS so I don’t want to try and solve a problem and create another one. I’m going to ask my consultant when I next see him which will hopefully be soon...I wish I could fast forward time! Are you doing accupuncture too? X

Mseddy · 21/07/2020 16:09

@zoeyj no I haven't done acupuncture, I wouldn't have been able to have it over covid and its too late now really! have you been doing it?

OP posts:
zoeyj · 21/07/2020 16:42

@Mseddy Yep, I had started back up again in October and was going weekly until Covid hit then everything closed for a bit and reopened on July 4 so have been for the last three weeks. I'm not sure I'll go during down reg/stims though but I will try to get appointments before and after transfer (if I ever make it to transfer...this day is going SO SLOWLY lol). I'm with Newlife in Epsom. xxx

seven201 · 21/07/2020 16:51

@Mseddy I don't think you're meant to take DHEA if you pcos. I think that's why I don't take it. I do take ubiquinol and haven't mentioned it to my doctor.

I have a trial transfer today, because my last two transfers were apparently a bit fiddly. As is typical it was straightforward. I stop my norethisterone on Thursday with baseline scan on Tuesday. It was my daughters last day at nursery today and I cried at her keyworker telling her I feel like a rubbish grumpy mum as I'm doing ivf. Poor lady!

seven201 · 21/07/2020 16:53

I did acupuncture for our last two goes. I enjoyed it when I was there but the expense and the travel have made me kind of relieved I've not been able to do it again. Although I suppose acupuncturists are probably working again now.

Ro198 · 21/07/2020 17:38

@StayingPositive8 I’m doing my first Bemfola injection tonight, I’m on short protocol too

StayingPositive8 · 21/07/2020 17:47

Good luck @Ro198 for your first injection! Looks like we are starting the short protocol at the same sort of time.

I'm lucky that my acupuncturist started doing home visits for those starting treatment, so I have been able to continue with treatment over the last few weeks and into treatment.
