Had a quick look through but can't find an existing thread. Anyone due to cycle in August after a bit of moral support?

We are due to start our 2nd cycle of icsi for male azoospermia and my premature ovarian aging (full house for us!)

@Mseddy I got a pic of the embryo and it nestled in place. Also whilst in stirrups haha. No video. Mind you, my bladder was so full the video was pretty blurry! Congrats on the 4 frozen, that's fantastic!

@kikisparks the walk didn't happen in the end - far too wet and windy here too! What a fab mantra (i hope I get to use it this time round!)

@MrsT36 Congrats on the transfer date! Progress!

@West2401 Fingers crossed the extra symptoms == good growth. Good luck today.

@Custardandcream The cyclogest is proving rough, and definitely has made me feel less resilient. Sorry the week is dragging for you. We're all on ivf-time now.

@CardboardCat Good luck today! I was so nervous before the transfer too. I'm just enjoying some laid back family time right now, but planning a trip to the countryside to do some light walking later in the week. Hope your bloating eases soon!! Also, I am definitely still having my cup of coffee in the morning! There actually was a bbc article yesterday about just this!! www.bbc.co.uk/news/health-53887440

@loulamay great news on the beta research... and even more on the dark line!!

I got my blood tests back - my white blood cells are high. Finished the antibiotics yesterday - so hope that it isn't the white cells attacking the emby.

I've also come to the conclusion that my twinges are mostly bungedness from the cyclogest. But trying not to read anything into that - as I am only 3dp.

TMI - and a question!! I'm really missing being intimate with OH. I know actual sex is off limits, but what about (ahem) orgasms?? Google gives mixed messages - some saying the contractions can 'push it out' but other saying it increases blood flow to the area and is actually to be encouraged! My clinic hasn't specified - have any of you had any guidance on this?

I am going back home from family visit on Sunday, so was planning to test at home on Monday... which will be 8dp... now thinking I should order a test for the weekend ;) I have slight PTSD about all the pure whites before we got the MFI diagnosis though, so kind of happy to wait a bit in the hope that it will be more reliable.

This process is a bit like being on MasterChef or something. Each round is more stressful than the last. And it kind of seems that just getting to each next round will be a victory.. but actually you're immediately progressed to the start of the next stress! Pregnancy doesn't get tougher than this!!

My turn for the essay. I really do appreciate having this group to vent and share with :D Sending everyone good vibes and happy follicle/eggy/emby thoughts xx

Mseddy · 26/08/2020 09:57

@Lepatz the masterchef analogy is spot on! Haha it really is more stress the more you "win", I wonder at what point that stops, birth? Going to school? 18th birthday? Haha. God what are we doing to ourselves!
My clinic says no sex until after pregnancy test. I read up about orgasms too and decided they must mean all of it. Becuase I can't think of a scientific reason why sex would be a no. There is no risk of infection anymore, so it has to be the uterine contraction part. It's killing me but I'm sticking to zero just incase. TMI but sometimes when I'm a few days pre af I get really bad period cramps for a few mins after orgasm, so I'm guessing it really does make my uterus contract. I imagine the guilt I would feel if we DTD and then I had cramps. I would blame myself. Its a killer though because we stopped having sex earlier than last time because it was hurting my ovaries! So it'll have been like 4 weeks by the time we are allowed again and that is a loooong time in out marriage!

Good luck for scan today @West2401 and good luck for transfer @CardboardCat

@Lepatz - I asked my Dr and he basically said to do anything we were comfortable with! He's quite laissez-faire about a lot of things, and I had also read conflicting opinions online! We stopped after transfer and I am also missing OH, but feel a bit nervous at the thought so we are yet to do the deed! I definitely told him to 'take care of himself' until I got either a BFPor BFN. Haha he would die if he knew I was telling you guys this. Not sure I have really helped either Grin

Jacky83 · 26/08/2020 11:05

@CardboardCat So far from OTD still. I'm 4dp5dt still got nine days to go. It is passing so slowly!

@kikisparks It is passing so slowly. Nine days until I test.

I've got nine days left until OTD but seeing on here that loads of people test early. Does that not lead to false positives? I don't want to get my hopes up.

kikisparks · 26/08/2020 11:17

@Jacky83 I tested out the trigger and it was completely blank by 3dp5dt so I would know that if I tested early it wouldn’t be the trigger. Testing early could definitely lead to a false negative though and it’s how that would make you feel that puts a lot of people off doing it I think.

Jacky83 · 26/08/2020 11:22

@kikisparks I'm going to try and make it to OTD but don't be surprised if I crumble!

StayingPositive8 · 26/08/2020 12:18

@Jacky83 I was trying to hold out until OTD but crumbled on 8dp5dt! I spoke to my acupuncturist about it and he said at that point you would be very unlikely to get a false positive. He just warned me that a false negative could be a possibility which could lead to unnecessary upset and stress, but I found the waiting more stressful ha ha!

Mseddy · 26/08/2020 14:22

I've been testing out the trigger and it was negative today 2dpt. I'm going to do another trigger test tomorrow just to be sure then no more testing, well until Monday anyway! I'll be 7dpt by then so I might do my first test.
I've just got my time lapse video from the embryologist. It's incredible!! Pretty sure it was hatching at the end of the video too. God I really hope this embryo is the one!

I've got an embryo on board and two in the freezer! My clinic seem to be grade a bit different, we have an A- that went back today, an A- and a C+ in the freezer. I'm so happy. Having a picnic lunch to celebrate and then I'm going home for a relief nap.

Hope everyone else is having a good day.

Congrats @CardboardCat! Welcome to the PUPO crew!

kikisparks · 26/08/2020 15:48

@CardboardCat oh that’s such good news! Smile congrats at having an embryo on board and that’s fab to have a couple of Frosties!

loulamay · 26/08/2020 16:25

Yay!! That's fabulous news. Picnic celebratory lunch sounds perfect! Daffodil

West2401 · 26/08/2020 17:27

Just been for scan and going ahead with treatment! I've gone from 12 to 20 follicles, 5 are fully mature now and I also had 6 that were just under so will hopefully grow a little more. They are going to go for retrieval on Friday but (if they manage to get any eggs) they think they will have to freeze them and let everything calm down as my lining isn’t quite thick enough for implantation and I’m at risk of hyper stimulating at the minute because of my PCOS...positive though! My body is finally doing something!

kikisparks · 26/08/2020 17:44

@West2401 ah that’s fantastic! So happy for you, are you triggering tonight then?

West2401 · 26/08/2020 18:00

@kikisparks yes, 9:15 tonight 😁

CardboardCat · 26/08/2020 18:03

@West2401 That's fantastic news!!! Woohoo, well done West's ovaries, they sound like good numbers.

West2401 · 26/08/2020 18:25

Thanks @CardboardCat fingers crossed....and congratulations to you for today!!! Hope you're feeling ok 💕

Mseddy · 26/08/2020 19:55

@West2401 yay I'm so happy to hear! I've been thinking about you this afternoon. It's probably a good thing for your body to have a break. Some people respond much better to FETs than fresh. I'm pretty sure there is a higher success rate with FETs

OP posts:
Lepatz · 26/08/2020 20:25

@Mseddy yep, I'm the same, DTD seems to trigger AF... Though I was never sure if it just 'broke the dam' ;). But yes - I can't imagine the guilt after jic - though I guess I was hoping everyone here would tell me their clinic had said to go for it!
@loulamay haha - yes haha, this is a safe place for oversharing!! I guess we'll continue to abstain a bit longer... tbh it's a bit easier as I'm staying at my parents this week!

@Jacky83 - my friend is a GP and said that false positives are super rare. It may be that the pregnancy fails early after an initial positive, but at least (?) then you know when it was a chemical or an implantation failure.

@CardboardCat woo hoo - PUPO, and two in freezer, congrats!

@West2401 SO happy to hear this, it's been such a long stage for you - but such great results. The success rate at my clinic is better for FETs too.

I just checked my clinic's guidelines for testing (one step at a time lol!). I've to do a home test - 14-16 days after transfer!!!! I don't think I'll make it that long though haha. As in I definitely won't!
Then three weeks after that a scan. No mention of beta testing. (So sounds more like your clinic @Bruce2.)

Mseddy · 26/08/2020 21:25

@Lepatz mine is 18 days post egg collection or 13 post transfer. Its too long! They considered doing beta testing on me on the Saturday before my otd on the Monday as we are going on holiday and I needed to know if I needed more cyclogest. But they said that was too early when I said it would have to be the morning. Like serious?!? I'd be 12dp5dt or 17dpo!! If it didn't show up by then on bloods something would be wrong

OP posts:
loulamay · 27/08/2020 06:43

Yay @West2401 - that's awesome to hear. And at least with freeze-all you get to catch your breath before transfer!

So funny how all the clinics do things differently. So grateful to all of them though! I guess we are all in different parts of the UK? Although confession, I'm British but I live in Cape Town, so pretty far away from you all!!

Psyching myself up for blood test. Did another home test this morning and I don't think the line is lighter plus I've had a cold and sore throat the past few days and boobs feel a bit sore. Just praying it's not ectopic or anything awful!

Have a fab day everyone x

loulamay · 27/08/2020 06:52

Yes, I am one of those people who label their tests. I can only apologise. IVF has made me insane.

Line progression looking good I think? Although the tests do fade a little over time.

kikisparks · 27/08/2020 07:46

That line progression looks great to me @loulamay and that 14dpt looks as strong as the control! It’s definitely getting darker with each test. Good luck for your blood test!

Here’s mine although bear in mind it’s a different brand of test. I also label my tests haha, unlabelled is today 10dp5dt.

I’ve made it to OTD so emailed the clinic and told my parents as they knew we were going through IVF so were waiting to hear. Will be telling DH’s parents but nobody else.

kikisparks · 27/08/2020 07:49

Oh and I’m so grateful to the clinic too, I said that in my email today, thanked them for everything they’ve done to get me this far! I’m in Scotland, I think we’re all in different places.
