August IVF

Had a quick look through but can't find an existing thread. Anyone due to cycle in August after a bit of moral support?

We are due to start our 2nd cycle of icsi for male azoospermia and my premature ovarian aging (full house for us!)

Morning ladies, happy Tuesday.

I was expecting the 2ww to be tough - and so far it is!! Only 2 days in too. I had twinges all day yesterday... which I was getting excited was implantation.... but I think it was being bunged from progesterone ;/. As it mostly eased post fybrogel ;D. Which is kind of amusing me, but also NURGH!

I'm going to go do some meditation and try to get out for a walk today.

I felt the last couple of days that I had to take it easy, felt a bit tender round the middle, but feeling a bit freer today. Damned cyclogest!

Hope everyone feeling well and happy x

@nextweek Yep - the struggle is real!! Hope you're managing to distract yourself x

@West2401 sounds like good news to me - still in the game! Good luck for tomorrow xx

@Mseddy Yes - so weird going into a building to get inpregnanted whilst OH goes for coffee! Esp as so many others in the same process there!!

@loulamay the rollercoaster continues - glad to hear you're feeling more positive today :) Still rising beta results, woo! xx

@Bruce2 congrats on getting back to the boxfit! I'm looking forward to moving my body again too.

@CardboardCat Those results sound good to me - yay for 1 top quality one! 1 of my slow ones made it by day 6 - froze it yesterday :) The drop off is always hard though. This whole thing is hard xx

Lepatz · 25/08/2020 10:05

@kikisparks YAY! Just saw your message, congratulations, that's great news :D xx

Bruce2 · 25/08/2020 10:12

@kikisparks

Hi all, I wasn’t sure whether to post this yet as not at OTD yet and I’m very anxious, but we got our BFP! Got a squinter at 6dp5dt and more visible lines yesterday and today- pictured is today’s (8dp5dt). Still not the strongest line yet.

I’m only 3 weeks 6 days pregnant and I had a chemical pregnancy before at 4 weeks 3 days so I’m very, very nervous, especially because my clinic makes me come off the progesterone on Thursday. But I am also so delighted, just begging it to stick. I don’t get a beta blood test either, if I’m still getting a positive test on Thursday I send them an email and they book a scan.

Just seen this!! Congratulations xxx
StayingPositive8 · 25/08/2020 11:07

@kikisparks Fantastic news, congratulations!!

Mseddy · 25/08/2020 11:18

@kikisparks congratulations!! That's a really nice line too. Fingers crossed for a sticky bean.

@loulamay I think that theory about maybe one embryo not making it sound reasonable. Wasn't your hcg much higher than your doctors expected at that stage? So could account for twins. Then it's still rising just not as steep as they would like. I've got everything crossed for you and I have a good feeling 🤞🏼

I am SO tired and having crazy vivid dreams. I know it can't be the embryo as he's only been in there 5 mins haha. I did have some quite sharp twinges all on one side yesterday evening, but I'm not sure if it was just by body settling down after the transfer.
I've not had a call yet today about our embryo they where still watching, so I'm guessing it's not getting frozen.

What do people's clinica do regarding embryo photos? Do you get given one? I really want one but mine don't offer it. I might email embryology and ask for it. Last time we both saw the embryo on the screen where as this time I feel like DH has missed out by not seeing the embryo at all.

Bruce2 · 25/08/2020 11:54

@Mseddy we got a time lapse video of the one they put back and a photo which we never asked for but got given straight after ET while legs still in stirrups 😂...strange how every clinic does something different!
Someone earlier mentioned they're due to stop pessaries after a certain time but our clinic say take them for first 12 weeks until end of first trimester.
Must just depend on clinical director and they're research into it all!

Mseddy · 25/08/2020 12:11

@Bruce2 I always wondered about time lapse videos as we had the embryoscope too. It annoys me how different clinics are. I've just emailed the embryology department and asked for a picture. It's different this time because DH wasn't allowed in so he didn't even get to see it on the screen. I hope they email me back a picture, I'd love a video!

OP posts:
StayingPositive8 · 25/08/2020 12:35

@Mseddy I did get a photo (no video option) but I managed to laugh at the moment they put the embryo in so it's very fuzzy!

And the same as @Bruce2 I have been told to take the pessaries until our viability scan next week and then continue until 12 weeks if the scan is positive news.

It just seems all clinics have different policies. The good news is that our clinic are now allowing partners to come into the 7week scan which is such a relief!

Mseddy · 25/08/2020 12:52

My clinic just rang. First bit of good news is our embryo that was slower developing has made it this morning and is now also frozen so thats 4 in the freezer. Second bit of good news, they are leaving the USB video of our embryo at reception for me to pick up tomorrow. So excited to watch it!

OP posts:
kikisparks · 25/08/2020 13:11

@Mseddy thank you, and 4 in the freezer is great! A video of the embryo sounds fun, I haven’t heard of that before! Didn’t get a photo either.

@StayingPositive8 thank you- that’s wonderful your partner will get to come into the 7 week scan, I hope that’s the case here too.

@Bruce2 thank you, I spoke to the clinic about the early date of stopping pessaries and the nurse said that in fresh cycles the corpus luteum takes over once there is HCG in the blood or something, I’ve also looked it up and there are lots of studies showing that giving progesterone after the luteal phase (beyond 14 days after conception) makes no impact at all in miscarriage/ live birth rates. It’s also in an episode of the BFN podcast where the Professor from Oxford Fertility basically said the only reason to give progesterone beyond that date was to stop women worrying lol. FETs are different and longer progesterone support is needed. Knowing all this still doesn’t help the fear of coming off medication!

@Lepatz thank you- Sorry the 2WW has been tough for you so far! Meditation and a walk sounds like a good shout. The latter isn’t really an option today for me unfortunately due to Storm Francis!

@nextweek thanks very much, hope the 2WW is going ok for you so far?

Jacky83 · 25/08/2020 14:08

@kikisparks Congratulations! That's amazing news!

@Bruce2 I can't wait to get moving again. I've been told to wait until after the pregnancy test before I can start swimming again, because of a fear of infection after EC. Just walking the dogs every day at the moment.

@Mseddy So glad you got good news! I got told to bring my phone into ET so I could take a photo of embryo when they brought it up on the screen. Also got a photo from the scan to show where they put him - that's on the fridge!

MrsT36 · 25/08/2020 15:15

@kikisparks congratulations!! That’s a really good line and fingers crossed it keeps getting darker for you. I know after my chemical it’ll be harder to trust a BFP but we have to just keep telling ourselves different pregnancy, different outcome 💕

I had my scan today and lining is looking good so it’s next Tuesday for transfer! Let’s hope it’s 4th time lucky 😂😂

West2401 · 25/08/2020 16:07

@kikisparks huge congratulations! So pleased for you!!!

@Mseddy that's fab - I find it so fascinating that you get to actually see it too. It really is amazing.

@Bruce2 try to stay positive and be kind to yourself. You'll be fine to exercise especially if your body is used to it, just don't push yourself too hard or go crazy jumping around 🤣

I'm absolutely exhausted today, the double dose of ovaleap is definitely taking effect. My back is so sore and getting really sharp pins again. It's crazy that I'm sat wanting to feel more symptoms in the hope that it's a good sign 🤦🏻‍♀️

Mseddy · 25/08/2020 18:08

@MrsT36 exciting that you have a transfer date!

@West2401 hopefully them symptoms are your ovaries giving one last push! When is your next scan?

OP posts:
West2401 · 25/08/2020 18:38

@Mseddy it's tomorrow tea time, so nervous 😟

Custardandcream · 25/08/2020 20:51

@loulamay fingers crossed for you

@CardboardCat the drop off is very hard, I sometimes think they have to be a bit guarded with what they say as they don’t want to promise anything, not that they actually think there will be a problem. Fingers crossed for you over the next few days

@kikisparks congratulations!

@Mseddy 4 frozen is amazing! I have a video of my DD developing its fascinating to watch

@MrsT36 glad your lining is looking good

@West2401 Good luck for tomorrow

I’m exhausted which I think is a reaction to the cyclogest, this week is going so slowly, Friday seems like ages away and I’m also worried about they embryo not surviving the defrost as we only have the one!

CardboardCat · 25/08/2020 22:21

Hey, hope everyone is ok. Thank you all for the positivity yesterday and today- it's been much appreciated. I'm really grateful that work was busy today as I haven't really had time to think but this evening I've gotten a bit nervous again. Our appointment is at 1.30 tomorrow and we don't find out until we get there if there is definitely something to transfer. That's going to be a long drive to the clinic!

I'm ok today, soooo bloated. Like comedy, fake belly bloated. Also very, very spotty. Not feeling my most attractive right now 😂

@kikisparks So happy to see your test! I squealed a bit lol, it's so nice to feel happy again when people have success (I find it a bit difficult outside of this community). Really hope everything goes smoothly for you from here on in.

@Mseddy Four in the freezer is amazing!! So pleased this cycle has been so successful for you. I hope you don't mind me asking but have you thought about how many dpt you're going to test? Assuming I get lucky tomorrow I don't know whether to have a date in mind or just go with the flow and see how I feel.

@Custardandcream Thank you, yeah- the drop off is hard even though I know the statistics. Separating head and logic from heart is so difficult in IVF. I think I'm usually quite sensible but this has brought out some sides of me that I didn't know were there (not all bad, some good too). Is Friday your embryo transfer?

@West2401 Really hoping it goes well for you tomorrow, I hope all those symptoms are your body getting into gear.

@Lepatz Hope your walk and meditation kept your mind off things a bit today. The waiting is so difficult. Do you have anything else planned this week? I'm already analysing twinges and nothing has even been put back in yet!

@MrsT36 Glad your lining is nice and cozy ☺️ A lovely environment for your little embryo. Good luck for Friday!

@Bruce2 Well done on the box fit! I cannot wait to get back into it a bit. I can feel my muscle tone slipping away already. I have done some yoga (which did make me sweat!) which I enjoy once in a while but I miss the variety I used to have. Even so, now I'm out of the habit I know it will need a push to get back into.

@nextweek Another 2WW warrior, keep going lovely, you must be almost there?

@loulamay Glad you're feeling a bit better about life today, I hope the rollercoaster slows down for you soon and you get some clarity. I think the not knowing is a lot harder than knowing whatever the outcome is.

@Jacky83 Really hope you're doing ok and enduring the wait, any nice plans this week? You must be getting close to test day now?

@MsNoons17 and @Lt2020 Hope you guys are doing well too and thank you both for the nice encouraging messages.

CardboardCat · 25/08/2020 22:25

That was a bloody essay!! Haha sorry if I missed anyone, I'm tired and lying in bed on my phone. I'm blaming the progesterone for getting all soppy but really thank you everyone for your support, this group is lovely and so non-judgemental, it means a lot.

One question for the hive mind... Am I crazy to keep going with my one cup of coffee in the morning? I always said that when/if I got to transfer then I would give it up but it really is one of my greatest pleasures. I'm torn.

Mseddy · 25/08/2020 23:09

@CardboardCat Im not sure about when to test. I'm currently still testing the trigger out. It was a squinter on a IC this morning so hoping it's gone tomorrow. I really don't want to test too early but also testing early helps me get my head around things if it's not worked. Maybe from 6dp5dt so 11dpo in the real world? I dunno! Good luck for transfer tomorrow!! Let us know how it goes. I know what you mean, it's so nice being able to sound off about anything and everything!

OP posts:
kikisparks · 26/08/2020 06:19

@Jacky83 thanks! How is the 2WW going for you?

@MrsT36 thank you! That’s exactly what my husband says, different pregnancy, different outcome. Fingers crossed for you that next Tuesday is the day!

@West2401 thanks! Those symptoms sound promising that your ovaries are working hard, I’ve got everything crossed for you for your scan today, good luck.

@Custardandcream thank you! Hope your frostie defrosts nicely for you.

@CardboardCat Thanks so much! And I know exactly what you mean- I feel delighted when someone infertile gets pregnant, it’s such a long, hard journey and I’ve been so happy for everyone on this thread, but it’s still hard to be happy for fertile people at the moment lol. Loads of luck for today, really hope it’s a good outcome and you can have a transfer. Coffee- I’ve given up tea but still have a bit of chocolate, but I think following the NHS guidelines on caffeine and having one cup a day is fine.

loulamay · 26/08/2020 06:19

@CardboardCat - you're not crazy. One cup of coffee (or even two) is totally fine. In fact, the stress of denying yourself something that you love, might even have worse side effects than the small amount of caffeine itself!

I tested on 7dp5dt on all three cycles. Anyone who waits longer than that is an absolute superstar! But maybe I just have low willpower BlushGrin

loulamay · 26/08/2020 06:20

@kikisparks omg I forgot to say congrats!!! Whoop! Hope you're feeling ok! The highs and lows of this process are intense!

kikisparks · 26/08/2020 06:50

@loulamay thank you! I’m ranging from feeling really happy to crushingly anxious- you’re very right about the highs and lows. I don’t get a beta so I’m just testing once a day at the moment, I’ll need to stop eventually! I keep trying the mantra “today I am pregnant”.

How are you feeling? All the best of luck for your blood test tomorrow.

loulamay · 26/08/2020 06:55

@kikisparks it's an excellent mantra!

I'm ok thank you. I also tested yesterday, a day after the beta result and was half expecting to see a fading line but got my darkest one yet. Hoping I might still be in the game. Also did some (proper scientific Wink) research on hcg levels and found that the 'doubling' rule is a bit of a misnomer, and rising levels with a gap of over 35% over 48-72 hours can still turn out to be a viable pregnancy. Who knows! Tomorrow will tell me more.

kikisparks · 26/08/2020 06:59

@loulamay oh that all sounds so promising, I do research too when I’m worried and proper science articles can be very reassuring!
