August IVF

Had a quick look through but can't find an existing thread. Anyone due to cycle in August after a bit of moral support?

We are due to start our 2nd cycle of icsi for male azoospermia and my premature ovarian aging (full house for us!)

@CardboardCat well probably as a blessing in disguise I thought I ordered FRERs but I actually realised when they arrived that they were the rapid response tests which aren’t the right kind. I’ve ordered FRERs now but they don’t arrive til 24 August so I can’t really test until after then!

Mseddy · 19/08/2020 08:25

@CardboardCat good luck with you scan today. Fingers crossed for trigger tonight!

I'm sat at the clinic all dressed in my gown waiting to go in for collection. They let my husband stay with me for about 20 mins and then booted him out. They will ring him when I'm ready. My blood pressure was high again, but I think it's the stress of being here! I checked it at work last week and it was normal. This is going to feel like a long wait!!

@Mseddy Good luck! Hope it all goes really well. For the record, I bloody love an egg mayo sandwich. Definitely a good choice and very appropriate as well!

ALL THE EGGS! ALL THE EGGS!

Lovely to hear everyone progressing along. I am now 6dp5dt. I'm pretty sure this was the first day I tested last time and got a faint positive but I am going to try and hold out until Friday! Waiting on the beta test results phone call was torturous so either way, I'm going to do a HPT so I can see the results myself first. I think something should be showing up by 8dp so at least if it's negative at home then that forewarns me.

Trying not to symptom spot! Got up three times in the night to wee haha. Had some very light brown discharge yesterday, but hardly any. Hoping that might be implantation bleeding. Didn't have it last time. Also a few very mild cramps but really nothing else to mention.

I wasn't aware of this but when I miscarried last cycle, I asked my Dr why I didn't bleed and he said the progesterone stops it. Sure enough, after I stopped the meds, my bleed came two days later. At least having this information has meant that 'knicker-watch' this time round has been much less stressful...

Loving all your news Smile

Lepatz · 19/08/2020 10:56

@Mseddy good luck with the EC today - thinking of you and all the eggies! Eggs for eggs lol!

@TTC2021baby welcome to the party! I'm a couple of days ahead - triggered Sunday and had collection yesterday. There's quite a few of us in this cohort!

@CardboardCat Fingers crossed for trigger news today!

@West2401 @CardboardCat I'm also struggling with lack of exercise. I'm usually v active in my day to day life, plus regular runs. Since my stims I've been half bedbound, which I really hadn't expected.

@loulamay 'knickerspot' haha. I'm not looking forward to that bit myself. I had implantation bleed the one time I had a BFP, so it's been a bit of an obsession of mine. I haven't working out if I'll go for early testing or not!!

Heading out for pizza tonight - am unduly excited!!

Question on acronyms - like 6dp5dt... I guess the last bit is days since transfer - but whats the first bit??

Oh, the embryologist just call!ed! From the 10 collected, there were 7 mature, and 5 fertilised. I don't know if that's good or not?! (Seems quite a drop from my pre-covid 25 follicle count - I was imagining a freezerful lol!!) But i'm happy to have some - fingers crossed they're strong ones!

loulamay · 19/08/2020 11:12

@Lepatz - the struggle is real ;-) 6dp5dt means 6 days past 5-day transfer. Transfer day is day 0 and you count from that for the first bit and then the 5-day transfer is the blastocyst age. Some people transfer 3-day old blasts as I understand, in which case it would be 1dp3dt etc etc! But I think those that get to 5 days are hopefully more robust. Hope that makes sense!

Those numbers sound great! I think it's quite normal to have a 30-50% drop off at each stage, so 10 to 5 is really fab over two stages! It only takes one :-)

Are you doing a fresh transfer this time?

PIZZA YUM

Lepatz · 19/08/2020 11:45

@loulamay The struggle is real! thanks for clearing that up :) And for the support! I'm hoping to do a fresh transfer - though my body has taken quite a beating from the stims/collection - so I guess there's a bit of wait and see. You're right - it only takes one! Hope your TWW isn't dragging too hard!

Mseddy · 19/08/2020 11:46

Thanks guys. It went OK. I don't think they sedated me as much as last time because I was alot more aware. I've been in a bit of pain since, but I expected that becuase I was in a bit of discomfort beforehand anyway. I've had my egg sandwich and it was nice. Just waiting on my cannula out and my update from the embryologist before I can go home. I'm ready to get in bed and sleep for the rest of the day! Thanks for all the well wishes guys

@loulamay well done on holding off on testing! 8dpt is in my head as when I might test too.

@Lepatz well done on 5 embryos! Sounds good to me, like loula says a normal drop off. I think it’s more about quality now, some people start with lots of fertilised eggs and just have one blast on day 5, others start with 3 and all 3 make it to blast, or all other kinds of combinations, but either way it just takes one! When’s your next call?

I’m here to have a moan, I’m 2dp5dt and suddenly feel really detached from the process, I feel very low and so very very tired, all I want to do is sleep. I’m still so so bloated and cramps started today, indigestion which has been present throughout is worse and my old friend constipation is back. I tried to do a short walk yesterday which I comfortably and quickly do most days, but took me ages and I was too tired and had to sit down for a while halfway round. I know there are so many good things to be grateful for but I can only see the negative just now and am so focused on how I’m physically feeling. Very much like when I have PMS, I think it is something to do with progesterone as I remember feeling rubbish on norithisterone. I wish I was nice and chilled and relaxed and able to do lots of gentle exercise to keep blood flow going, I just need to accept this is how I’m feeling just now and take it easy I guess.

kikisparks · 19/08/2020 11:51

@Mseddy Well done you’re through it! If the pain is bad ask for extra painkillers before you leave, I also got given a heat pack for the journey home, going to bed and sleep sounds a great idea.

CardboardCat · 19/08/2020 12:02

All looking good so I'll be triggering tonight! Very relieved as I'm uncomfortable now and ready to get going. WE WANT EGGS, WE WANT EGGS. I might just turn up chanting this on Friday.

@Lepatz 5 sounds really good ☺️ Are you hoping for a fresh transfer or is it a freeze all? I think no matter what the numbers are that the fall off will be hard. It feels a bit like a loss each time because they are all potential chances at a baby (pure speculation on my part)

CardboardCat · 19/08/2020 12:11

Welcome back @Mseddy Glad it all went ok and hope the pain doesn't last too long.

@kikisparks I think these wobbles are just inevitable, it's all so emotionally loaded anyway and then add in loads of progesterone. I also keep having little patches where all I feel is a sense of complete fruitlessness and that there is no way on hell this is going to work. No advice, just know you're not alone! Sending hugs.

I'm having a baked potato and then going home for a nap.

Mseddy · 19/08/2020 12:26

@kikisparks sorry you are feeling a bit pants. I remember that exact feeling on day 3/4 last time. It must be a hormonal change. Possibly the last of the hcg from trigger leaving your system?

@CardboardCat yay for trigger! I'm so glad to have the eggs out! They had overstayed their welcome a little!

So I somehow managed to get 16 eggs!! I'm absolutely baffled! From my consultant saying they didn't expect me to get any at all on my first go to 16 this time! I've just got everything crossed now that they are good quality too!! I'd be happy with one to transfer and one to freeze

OP posts:
Mseddy · 19/08/2020 12:28

@Lepatz 5 is a great number!

OP posts:
loulamay · 19/08/2020 13:18

@Mseddy - sixteen! whoop!! It must have been the association with the egg sandwich. For sure.

@CardboardCat - channel all thoughts related to egg sandwiches.

@kikisparks - you poor darling. There are days when it's just utterly pants. I took Gaviscon for my indigestion and paracetamol because I was also so bloated and sore. Sleeping or napping propped up on one side seemed to help too. Sleep is a healer, as my Mum would say.

Raggity19 · 19/08/2020 13:44

@Mseddy wow! Well done you! X

TTC2021baby · 19/08/2020 18:18

Well done, @Mseddy! That's a great number and explains why you were a bit uncomfortable for sure! I think 1 to transfer and 1 to freeze is my goal as well. Fingers crossed for you!!

@Lepatz 5 is great, fingers crossed they hold strong! I'm the same though - had 30 follicles on pre-IVF scans and was a bit meh when they saw "only" 17 on my monitoring scans but as someone just said, you see some people (especially in the US, dare I say it) getting 30 eggs and ending up with 1 blast which just says to me that they were overstimmed and everything was out of sync.

Egg collection for me tomorrow. Have had such a nightmare day with work/home stuff that I'm very much looking forward to being a little drugged-up!! Will update tomorrow x

loulamay · 19/08/2020 18:27

@TTC2021baby - good luck for tomorrow! Let us know how you get on.

I've just been googling 'faint line 7dp5dt' like a mad woman in advance of tomorrow in case I test, which I probably will because I know myself too well and then if it's a faint line I can compare it to other faint lines of strangers on the internet who are not medical professionals.

Send help.

Mseddy · 19/08/2020 18:32

@TTC2021baby good luck tomorrow. Got everything crossed for a nice batch of eggs.

@loulamay I think we all have a streak of the Google crazies in us! I spent last night googling post trigger tests to see if my line was darker or lighter than others to try and judge whether my body secretes alot of hcg into my urine or not. I guess I wanted to check I wasn't one of these people who doesn't ever get a positive test even when pregnant! Crazy I know

OP posts:
West2401 · 19/08/2020 18:33

@Lepatz that's brilliant! Fingers crossed everything goes well! I've been told by both the hospital and my acupuncturist that I have to slow down so I guess I need to do as I'm told. It's just tough - two halves of my brain fighting each other.

@Mseddy great news for you too - 16 that's a huge number!

@kikisparks Keep your chin up! I know it's really tough not being able to do much right now but think of the end game....we're all going through this for a reason ❤️

I'm feeling quite low today too. Nausea seems to have eased a fair bit and other symptoms are fading just really bad back ache, headaches and boobs are sore plus getting a sharp pain in the right side of my abdomen. Little bit of cramp but not much which makes me more worried that nothings happening. I know it's silly but I just feel a bit useless. Trying to keep telling myself 'one day at a time'

Mseddy · 19/08/2020 19:21

@West2401 sorry you are feeling low today. Its such an emotionally and physically draining process. I'm already dreading the tww, symptom spotting is hard! Especially with all the other hormones added to our system throughout the process. I hope you start to feel better soon

Hi everyone.
Hope you don’t mind me joining. Not coming in with the best news as had a BFN today from my 2nd fresh cycle (sorry I don’t quite know all the lingo yet) I do have 2 frozens ready to go.
History of me is am 37(38 in December) Have been trying for around 3 years and started My first round of fertility treatment at the start of Feb. Bloody hard all of this isn’t it ladies?!

Sorry to hear about your BFN, big hugs, hope one of you're frozen embryos takes!! My birthday also December, I'll be 36

I was just coming on to post something similar, my test day is meant to be Friday but I can feel all the classic period symptoms coming on. Have prepared myself tonight that tomorrow period will be here.
I'm sad and disappointed but knew the risks and success rate and having had 2 failed frozen before (this one fresh) I guess I need to pick myself up and try again!

You're right, it's bloody hard!

loulamay · 20/08/2020 07:36

Welcome @MsNoons17 - so sorry to hear about your negative result today. Pardon my French but it's an absolute headf*ck of emotions this whole thing. What's so great is that you have your frosties! And hopefully your body can have a little break from all the injections and drugs ready for FET.

I am on my third transfer, with the first fresh a BFN and the first frozen after that a chemical pregnancy. We're all in slightly different boats here but in the same swirling ocean of IVF. Lovely to have you join us for the ride!

@Bruce2 - don't lose hope! Just to add to the fun, the PMS symptoms could equally be the drugs, or very early pg symptoms. Are you doing a beta blood test or one at home?
