August IVF

Had a quick look through but can't find an existing thread. Anyone due to cycle in August after a bit of moral support?

We are due to start our 2nd cycle of icsi for male azoospermia and my premature ovarian aging (full house for us!)

@Lepatz when I was talking to the nurse just now I was asking whether she thought my DH should wait in the car or go home, she had a look at my notes from last time to see how long I was in recovery to get an idea for this time. Thought it might be helpful for your timings ideas. So my procedure last time was 10.30 and I was discharged at 12.50. So nearly 2 and a half hours to have the procedure, recover from anaesthetic and speak to the embryologist

@kikisparks so excited for you!! Im still 2 weeks from transfer and it feels a mile away. Do you think you’ll be an early tester? I can never wait 😬

Bit down today as it was our due date from the very first transfer that worked but ended in an early miscarriage. I don’t think all the hormones are helping either ☹️

I just can’t wait for transfer day, does anyOne else have their dates yet? X

kikisparks · 17/08/2020 17:35

@CardboardCat sorry I missed your other post but sounds like a good scan!

@loulamay yes I do feel fine thanks! The transfer was painful for me as I have known prior issues with my cervix and smears hurt, but the pain was over fairly quickly. My ovaries are still a bit sore from the retrieval when I make certain movements, hoping that calms down in the next few days! It has been lovely seeing DH being so excited too, I think it’s all seeming more real for him.

@MrsT36 thank you! I think I might be an early tester I already told DH that who said NO you have to do it when the hospital told you. But I said I might do it anyway and just not tell him. Sorry to hear about your due date, always a hard milestone.

West2401 · 17/08/2020 17:59

@kikisparks everything crossed for you! Yes this is my first cycle (started pre corona and had to abandon) so feel like I'm second guessing everything as it's just so tough not knowing what's going on with my body. Doesn't help that my SIL is visiting this weekend with new baby and we're supposed to have retrieval next week if things get moving. Got to do the brave face all weekend when really I'm bloody exhausted already.

@Mseddy oooh you are spoiled at your clinic! We just get toast, none of this fancy sandwich malarkey 😂

Has anyone been told that DH can wait in recovery?

Lepatz · 17/08/2020 18:13

@loulamay Good tip for the hot water bottle - have looked it out, thanks :)

@Mseddy Oh thank you for investigating - that’s really useful! Any news on the Covid test yet? Seems like they’re really making you wait!! Fancy clinic though - I don’t think I get a sandwich!

@LennyFitz Oh, I felt rubbish by day 6. Ended up being signed off by my doc. I feel a bit weird about it as I’m not actually ill… but my brain is so foggy, and I’m painfully bloated and nauseous - so it does feel warranted :)

@West2401 a PT! Hats off! I can barely walk the length of myself :) I’ve been told my OH can’t be there at all :(

Great news on the follicles and lining @CardboardCat Finishing the race is all it takes :)

@kikisparks Yay for PUPO! May the wait be kind :)

Mseddy · 17/08/2020 19:10

@West2401 my consultant said he wasn't allowed in at all when I asked him this morning. But the nurse who rang me this afternoon said my husband should come with me through to recovery to listen to the instructions and bits and then he has to go. We live about 25 mins from the clinic so trying to decide if it's worth him going home or just waiting in the car.

@Lepatz they told me no news is good news so I'm taking the fact its been 48 hours and that they have arranged my egg collection as being confirmation that it's negative.

I stayed at work until egg collection last time, god knows how I did it!! I've felt shocking this time in comparison. Just has an accidental nap and I'm still ready for bed. I've got an alarm set for my 22.10 trigger incase I fall asleep on the sofa haha

West2401 · 18/08/2020 11:12

@Mseddy wahoo brilliant news!!!!

@Lepatz Haha I'm really flagging now though. I don't think I've ever felt so much like I'm just dragging my body through the day.

I'm starting to worry I'm doing too much and that it could be stopping the meds from working - I coach so much I know they recommend 3/4hours a week but sometimes I can do that in a day so really trying to dial it back. Such a double edged sword as it held me manage my anxiety but obviously causes me anxiety right now too!

kikisparks · 18/08/2020 11:16

I couldn’t wait for the call so I called the embryologist and I’m so happy we have 3 Frosties! DH is a bit disappointed they are not great quality but I think if they’re good enough to freeze they’re strong enough to potentially make a baby! I really really want a BFP with the one that’s in but having some back ups puts my mind at ease.

Now to actually focus on work, I haven’t been able to focus waiting on the call.

Mseddy · 18/08/2020 12:01

@kikisparks yay for 3 frosties! That's fab :)

I slept sooo well last night for the first time in ages. And im enjoying an injection free day today!!

Lepatz · 18/08/2020 13:05

Harvest done! 10 little eggies retrieved. I d hoped for more, but happy with what we got. Now the embrolygist call waiting phase begins!!

The sedation was great - am still a bit groggy, but v chill. Biscuits only for me - none of this fancy sandwich malarky hehe :) Am now home on the sofa. I was in for just over 90 mins al together.

@Mseddy Yay for trigger and good night's sleep! I slept even better the night of no jabs :)

@kikisparks congrats for 3 frosties - that's fab news. I agree re freeze quality being a key factor!

StayingPositive8 · 18/08/2020 13:13

Hi everyone - hope you're all doing ok today.

Sounds like there is so much activity for the group going on this week! Hope the triggering, egg collections and transfers are all going really well?

Just by way of an update, we got our positive pregnancy test results this morning!! So so happy but still super anxious to get to the 6 and 12 week scans to get past the previous loss stage. But for today it's amazing news! And also a positive for anyone worrying about age and diminished egg reserve, we weren't given great odds and only got fertilised embryo to blasto, but it's worked!

kikisparks · 18/08/2020 13:59

@StayingPositive8 aaaaahhh congratulations!!! I’ve been waiting for your update, so pleased for you!

@Lepatz 10 eggs is great! Have a nice day chilled on the sofa Smile

Lepatz · 18/08/2020 13:59

@StayingPositive8 Woo hoo! That's fantastic news - hurrah!!!

West2401 · 18/08/2020 15:42

@Lepatz @kikisparks @StayingPositive8 congrats and well done to you all! Positive day all around 💕

StayingPositive8 · 18/08/2020 15:45

Thanks so much to everyone for your messages and positive thoughts beforehand, it means a lot!

And I know a couple of you asked if I was going to early. And yes I did test early - didn't manage to wait after 8dp5dt!! It was positive then but I was so worried that I had tempted fate!

@kikisparks 3 frozen embryos is brilliant - well done!

@Lepatz 10 eggs is a great number. Hoping that the wait for embryologist calls doesn't drive you as insane as it did me!

@Mseddy I think you have collection egg collection tomorrow so sending you the best of luck

loulamay · 18/08/2020 15:58

@StayingPositive8 this is such wonderful news! I don't think I'm going to manage to wait for testing either!

Sounds like a good news day all round! Star

Mseddy · 18/08/2020 17:45

@StayingPositive8 yay! Congratulations. Fingers crossed for a lovely sticky bean. Yeah I'm egg collection tomorrow, thank you Smile

@Lepatz congratulations on your 10 eggs! Fingers crossed they are all nice little embabies by morning.

@loulamay how many dpo are you now?

TTC2021baby · 18/08/2020 18:22

Very late to the party but have been lurking for a bit! I've been on an antagonist protocol and am triggering tonight with EC Thursday. This is my first IVF (might be ICSI - they'll decide on Thursday).

Lining on Monday was good at 9.5mm, about 17 follicles with the majority 15-18mm. I'm 30 (31 in 10 days) and have a good AMH so they overstimmed me a bit (going on my estradiol) and I'm omitting my FSH tonight.

Anyone in sync with me? Good luck to you all - this stuff is character-building to say the very, very least. My husband keeps being sympathetic about the injections - completely doesn't get that the pain from injections is approximately 1% that of the emotional pain associated with the whole TTC/IVF thing. Oh well, we'll all get there eventually - it's just a question of time, patience, emotional bandwidth and money.....!!

Mseddy · 18/08/2020 18:52

@TTC2021baby welcome :) we are not far out of sync, I'm egg collection tomorrow so I'll be a day ahead of you. Your scan sounds good, lots of nice size follicles. Are you triggering tonight? My DH is always really sympathetic about the injection bless him, but the discomfort for my right now is my bloody ovaries! I can't wait to have them emptied in the morning!

Custardandcream · 18/08/2020 20:57

@Mseddy good luck for tomorrow!

@West2401 I think it’s a bit different if your body is used to doing so much, try not to stress about it too much like you say you are trying to cut down

@kikisparks 3 frozen is great!

@Lepatz 10 eggs is great, fingers crossed for them!

@StayingPositive8 Fantastic news, congratulations! Fingers crossed for you over the next few weeks

@TTC2021baby welcome & I hope all goes well with the trigger

CardboardCat · 18/08/2020 22:25

So much good news in here!!! @StayingPositive8 Yaaaayyyyy, congratulations 😊 So happy for you.

@Lepatz 10 eggs is fantastic! Glad it all went well. I'm really looking forward to my lovely egg collection nap now 😎

@TTC2021baby Welcome and hope it all goes well on Thursday. Those numbers sound amazing!

@kikisparks Congratulations on the transfer and on the three frosties ☺️ Do you have an idea in your head of when you'll test?

@loulamay How many dpt are you?

@Mseddy Good luck tomorrow! Not sure if you already said but the big question is what sandwich did you go for?

@West2401 I think the thing I'm struggling most with this week is not exercising as much. I'm not a super fit or anything but I like doing quite high intensity home workouts with weights- mainly because its good for my head. I've totally stopped everything except yoga (I did it once lol) and walking. No advice for you but yeah, I get it about trying to balance mental health with physical limitations.

Hope I didn't miss anyone, love catching up on this thread. All quiet for me today. Keeping on stimming in the hopes they'll tell me to trigger tomorrow. Had a fantastic meal out tonight, trying to do nice things to make it feel like a bit of a holiday this week. Tomorrow after the scan going to hit up a garden centre, it's the rock and roll lifestyle.

Mseddy · 18/08/2020 22:49

@CardboardCat I went for egg mayo. Its a highly underrated sandwich in my opinion! And it's not often you get a bad one! Safe choice haha. I love a good garden center!!
