Has anyone recently had IVF with abc IVF? They have approved me for a frozen cycle only at the moment.
Do you know if they are only doing frozen cycles in light of the pandemic.
We have mainly chosen them due to low cost. I appreciate that the low cost means cut backs in certain areas, but I'm often waiting for 1-1.5 hours on the phone to speak to a central phone line for all branches.
It's tricky as I know that IVF is really down to the individuals body response, but I still feel that decisions made by doctors about medication doses etc are important.
Keen to hear about others experiences.

@MochaTea I’m so sorry to hear about your loss. Gosh you have worked a lot, you definitely deserve some sofa and pj days! It’s hard not to worry isn’t it, each milestone is such a relief and then we wait for the next one! I’m just trying to be positive, just because something happens the first time, it doesn’t mean it will again x

JadeS174 · 06/11/2020 10:39

@MochaTea @Poppies2020
My scan was good thank you. All looked good, AFC was 11 on right ovary and 7 on the left. She said that wasn't too bad? She said I was eligible for treatment and all being well after my consultation in 2 weeks I might be able to start treatment next period 🤞🏼 XxX

@Poppies2020 so happy for you! XxX

Poppies2020 · 06/11/2020 19:04

@JadeS174 Thank you! So if all goes well will you starting next month? Yes the AFC is far more than I had this second time. I had 7 and 11 the first time, this time only one side responded to treatment and only 4 follicles! From those 4 follicles I got 4 eggs and this one has been successful so far. As they say, it only takes one egg! Grin

JadeS174 · 06/11/2020 20:13

Yes @Poppies2020 absolutely. It does only take 1!
Yes she said all being well and they can get medication ordered in time I can start next month 👍🏼
Can I ask what the process is? How long did you have to inject yourself for? Do they monitor you with scan during that to know eggs are developing? Then if looks good they arrange egg collection?
XxX

Poppies2020 · 06/11/2020 20:46

@JadeS174 That is so exciting! No probs, ask away! So you start the injection the day after your period usually. I did my first injection for 13 days and then had egg collection. I had Scans on the mon/wed/fri the first week of injections and they sometimes send you to get blood taken too, just to check everything is ok. At each scan they measure the growth of the follicles and put them on a chart, so you can see how much they are growing. Halfway through you will start on your second injection, depending on which day they say. When they decide your follicles are large enough, they will tell you when your collection day will be. You will have a special trigger injection that you will take at a very specific time, which will be exactly 36 hours before the collection. So I had a scan on the Monday, they told me to do my trigger injection at 9.30pm Tues evening, and my collection was booked for 9.30am Thurs morning, exactly 36 hours later. I can’t speak for everyone, but personally I feel like it all goes so quick, which is good! So for me it was only 16 days from the day I started my injection, to the embryo transfer! xx

Poppies2020 · 06/11/2020 20:49

@JadeS174 You are also at the Harley Street clinic aren’t you? If your medication doesn’t arrive in time, you can pop down to the clinic and get some to cover you until you get your delivery. I had to do it both times and they are very flexible, you can pop in any time so long as you let them know and pick up a some injections to start until your delivery arrives xx

MochaTea · 06/11/2020 21:28

@JadeS174 just adding to what Poppies2020 said - mine was a bit shorter than hers, I had a total of 9 days from the moment I had my first injection to the trigger one.
Meds arrive quite fast, so if you do everything with at least a week to spare you'll be able to start at your next cycle.

It is all very quick and perfect for me as I had in my head it was a longer process. x

JadeS174 · 06/11/2020 21:34

Amazing, thank you both @Poppies2020 @MochaTea it's good to get an idea of what may happen.

Yes @Poppies2020 I'm at Harley street.

Sounds quite a straight forward process and that you've had a good experience so far. I'm excited but also nervous to get started! XxX

BewilderedBee · 07/11/2020 20:28

Hi I'm with ABC and doing FET this month. I wondered if any of you can help me. If your period arrived after 12 before stims, it becomes day zero. Does this also apply for FET and taking progynova? My period arrived 6.30pm today but there's nothing written on my protocol about this causing it to be day zero. So I'm unsure whether today is day 0 or day 1. Can anyone help?

MochaTea · 07/11/2020 21:36

@BewilderedBee I wouldn’t be able to say unfortunately but I believe it is day 0. They have an emergency phone number you can call in case you’re in doubt you need to start taking it tomorrow.

Poppies2020 · 07/11/2020 21:50

@BewilderedBee Unfortunately I can’t help as I didn’t take Progynova, not sure what it is! If you’re worried, I would call the out of hours number, as in my experience they answer quickly and can tell you exactly what to do. The number should be in your welcome pack. I can prob find it in one of my emails if you don’t have it x

RMC224 · 08/11/2020 10:34

Hi all- I hope you don’t my me joining, I’m new to the world of IVF and your comments are giving me hope. I’m also with abcIVF Harley street. My medication arrives on Tuesday ready for me to hopefully start next weekend. I have secondary “unexplained” infertility after trying for 5 years. Ive looking people pages on Instagram and other review sites who have recently used abcIVF, I noticed a pattern with patients having OHSS leading to an “all frozen cycle”. Did this happen to anyone on here? I’m probably over thinking this but I really don’t have the money to put towards a FET at the moment and I’m worried this could happen to me.

MochaTea · 08/11/2020 12:22

@Maxs1988 @SoNewToThis How are you two getting along post transfer? were you able to freeze any eggs?
when will you be doing the blood tests?

@Poppies2020 you did a fresh transfer this 2nd cycle, right?

@RMC224 I believe all of us here current chatting had fresh transfers and did not have OHSS, it really depends on each woman. ABC should have less cases of OHSS as they give milder doses compared to other fertility clinics.
Are you aware of all costs? Because apart from the whole process you still have to freeze the remaining embryos and it's never a guarantee the first cycle will work, so yes if you'd like to try again if the first one fails you'd have to freeze embryos + do a second FET cycles if any embryos end up frozen.

Poppies2020 · 08/11/2020 12:24

@RMC224 Hi! I’m prob being dumb, but I’m a bit confused. What is it that you’re worried about, OHSS? Are you having your first cycle with a FET, then hoping to freeze some embryo’s? x

Poppies2020 · 08/11/2020 12:55

@MochaTea Yes I had FET with both cycles, but I didn’t have any embryo’s to freeze either time, just the one egg was suitable for transfer! x

RMC224 · 08/11/2020 12:58

Sorry, I don’t thing I’m explaining myself well or I have it completely wrong lol. From what I understand if all goes well (I’m having a fresh cycle) I can freeze the remaining embryos for an extra £900. However If a patent has OHSS they will have to stop after egg collection, Freeze the embryos and then continue the following month for an extra cost I believe it’s £1,110 for the FET (the next cycle) and £750 to freeze? To be honest I will probably be ok and complete the cycle with no complications but I like to prepare myself every situation.

RMC224 · 08/11/2020 13:11

@Poppies2020 I’m having a fresh cycle and hopefully freezing any remaining. I am worried about OHSS and not being able to continue with the treatment resulting in extra costs.

Poppies2020 · 08/11/2020 13:18

@RMC224 Ah I see. I agree with @MochaTea that ABC use a lower dose of medication so you have less risk than you may have at other clinics. I haven’t read much about people from ABC developing OHSS, most of the reviews seem very positive. There is a risk, but they monitor you closely and check your blood often to keep an eye on you. There is always a risk that you may not have any embryo’s to freeze. I didn’t have any, but many other women have. It is all down to each individual and how you respond to treatment, but try to go into it with a positive mindset. I had only 4 follicles, 1 egg suitable for transfer and that one egg has given me a positive result, so there is always hope! x

RMC224 · 08/11/2020 13:24

Thank you @Poppies2020 I think I might need to stay away from the internet for a while. I’m obviously driving myself crazy with the what if’s. A massive congratulations to you 😊 When did you have your transfer?

MochaTea · 08/11/2020 13:26

@RMC224 I don't want to discourage you, just trying to be realistic - but I think you need to prepare if this happens or if the first cycle doesn’t work. Of course all of us want to be pregnant first Try but sometimes it just doesn’t happen. Poppies had to do a second transfer and all the rest of us are currently waiting to see if ours worked.
This is my first time doing IVF after a very long time trying too, I also have unexplained infertility but as I was able to get pregnant naturally in February after doing the HSG X-ray I think my eggs have an issue getting to my uterus so IVF was the only way for us and I’m truly hoping it works this first time but prepared to be ok if I have to have another go.

Poppies2020 · 08/11/2020 13:34

@RMC224 I had my transfer on Sunday 25th October, and then had my blood test 11 days later on the 5th November and you get the results the same day x

RMC224 · 08/11/2020 13:41

@MochaTea oh I am being realistic, I do understand that it may not work first time and I’m hoping I’ll have some embryos to freeze but I’m also prepared if I don’t. I think Just started worry after seeing stories of OHSS and having treatment stopped. I really hope it works out for you xx

MochaTea · 08/11/2020 13:49

@RMC224 as you can see Grin i worry more about not working first time then I did with OHSS. we start with such a low dosage that even if that’s enough to overstimulate your ovaries you will go 3x there to do scans whilst doing the injections and if it does happen they might suggest lowering your dose .
I’d deff stop looking at the bad stuff online and keep to where things are working out for people.
I’ve had a really positive experience with them so far, no complaints.

RMC224 · 08/11/2020 13:58

@MochaTea 😂 when you put it like that.
Reassuring to know they will monitor the dose closely. Definitely will stop looking else where and stick to here from now on. I’ve never been so excited to start my period.

HV88 · 08/11/2020 17:16

Hello everyone. I hope you don't mind me joining in too. I have suffered from secondary infertility for 2 years and have recently found out that it is male factor. We have started ivf with abc in Oxford and I am currently on day 4 of stim injections. My first scan is tomorrow 😬
I am super nervous but I have really enjoyed reading all your comments and information. Its helping calm my nerves. How does everyone cope with their nerves? X
