Abc IVF

Has anyone recently had IVF with abc IVF? They have approved me for a frozen cycle only at the moment.
Do you know if they are only doing frozen cycles in light of the pandemic.
We have mainly chosen them due to low cost. I appreciate that the low cost means cut backs in certain areas, but I'm often waiting for 1-1.5 hours on the phone to speak to a central phone line for all branches.
It's tricky as I know that IVF is really down to the individuals body response, but I still feel that decisions made by doctors about medication doses etc are important.
Keen to hear about others experiences.

@starryHannah its included. So you pay the 500 and they take that off of the total cost for your treatment. So you'd pay 500 when you book your treatment consultation and then 2000 after the consultation if you want to proceed with treatment there.

The 205 is separate. After your initial consultation your PC will give a full breakdown of all costs and send an invoice and price structure for your clinic. They'll let you know how much things like freezing, FET, additional medication, costs if the cycle gets cancelled etc so you know what they are :) if they don't they do ask so you know exactly what you're looking at!

@Beaglemum91 thank you so much for all this. You've made me really excited! I'm also excited for you ...new years day! What a way for you to start the new year Smile xxx

StarryHannah · 23/12/2020 10:29

@Beaglemum91 can I just check ... the baseline scan can be done at any time can't it (in other words I don't have to be on my period for it do I?) X

Luckfor2021 · 23/12/2020 11:06

Hi @StarryHannah! Welcome! I'm going to the Harley Street clinic in London. When i booked in my initial scan they said it could be done at any time. Once you get that done, as @Beaglemum91 mentioned you will need to pay the deposit and get the treatment appointment booked in. Here they will explain what they consider is best for you. In my case they asked me for additional information like, semen tests, rubella test and TSH test. I didn;t have a rubella test so I paid for that and had it done with the labs they work with. Unfortunately, I didn't have antibodies against rubella so I had to get a booster vaccine with the NHS and wait a month before I could start treatment. Once they have everything they need to go forward they will let you know and you will pay the remaining 2000 (regular ivf) or 3200 (ivf with ICSI) and they will arrange the delivery of the medication with you.
Good luck with everything!

StarryHannah · 23/12/2020 11:34

@Luckfor2021 that is so useful. Thank you. I remember having the MMR vaccination in school for measles, mumps and rubella. Would I need to get evidence of this?
Trying to get everything prepared in advance :)
Thank you so much x

Luckfor2021 · 23/12/2020 11:57

No problem @StarryHannah! Yes you will need evidence and if you don’t have it you’ll have to get a blood test done. If it’s negative because you lost immunity you’ll need a booster. Hopefully you have the evidence. I got the vaccine when I was a child but lost my vaccination card and because I travelled a lot when I was a child it would have been complicated to find. I would have liked them to do this test earlier if they would have mentioned as this delayed my treatment for another month. I guess they assume most of the people have been vaccinated and are immune. This is why I thought it was important to let you know too :)

StarryHannah · 23/12/2020 12:33

@Luckfor2021 so would they be checking for it in the bloods when they do the HIV tests etc? Or is it a different test? If it shows as okay in my blood would I still need evidence from docs?
Sorry for so many questions! (I'm 38 in the summer so cutting it fine!) X

Luckfor2021 · 23/12/2020 13:09

@StarryHannah if you have evidence they won’t ask for the rubella test. If you don’t have it then I guess you could book the rubella blood test at the same time then the others blood test. The rubella test is a different test and you would have to pay for it separately or you can also get it done through the NHS if you’re not in a hurry.

Beaglemum91 · 23/12/2020 21:34

@Luckfor2021 thats interesting as I was never asked about rubella? Maybe my age as I'm under 30?

Luckfor2021 · 23/12/2020 21:50

Hi @Beaglemum91! don’t thing rubella has anything to do with age...? It’s a virus that can affect any pregnant woman so it’s just to be super safe that you are vaccinated. I wouldn’t worry about it as the cases of rubella are extremely low. But I do believe that once you’re pregnant the NHS checks this and actually they found it normal that I asked for it? Maybe the clinic asked me because I’m not British and they weren’t sure if I had received the vaccination. In the U.K. everyone gets the vaccine as a child so then they’re probably more confident about it, that’s just my guess though! :)

StarryHannah · 24/12/2020 09:19

@Beaglemum91 @Luckfor2021
Thank you both ... your conversation with each other has made it clearer 😊 I was born in UK so all my vaccinations will be on my docs records if they are needed. Merry Christmas eve to you both x

Beaglemum91 · 27/12/2020 19:02

@Luckfor2021 that would make sense! I think if you're from the UK they just assume its all there! Its all getting close now, should be starting injections in a week!

StarryHannah · 27/12/2020 23:01

@Beaglemum91 I'm so excited for you! Good luck with everything. Please keep us updated so we can follow your story Smile x

Luckfor2021 · 28/12/2020 08:42

@Beaglemum91 exciting!! :) I should be starting in several days too....so we’ll be going through everything at almost the same time!

StarryHannah · 28/12/2020 12:46

@Luckfor2021 Ooohhh exciting! Please keep us updated on your journey! X

StarryHannah · 31/12/2020 18:34

@Luckfor2021 @Beaglemum91 and everybody else!
Just wondering if ABC advised you to shield/gave you a shielding letter for employer during treatment? My friend had ivf with a different clinic earlier this month and had a letter for her employer asking them to allow her to shield. I work in a school and am a little worried that I could catch covid mid treatment and was wondering it ABC do this too? Thanks x

Beaglemum91 · 31/12/2020 18:36

@StarryHannah they haven't mentioned anything to me but I'm choosing to isolate. I work from home so don't really need anything specific so haven't asked. It makes sense to me as any symptoms etc and the whole cycle stops I believe and I wouldn't want to risk it!

StarryHannah · 31/12/2020 18:46

@Beaglemum91 thank you. I might ask them to see if they can do me a letter for work when I know treatment dates etc. My friend shielded two weeks before treatment started all the way up to embryo being put in her. Fingers crossed the clinic will do me a letter. So many cases in school before Christmas I don't want to risk wasting the time/effort/money etc putting myself through it all for then (my luck) for it to be stopped as I catch it.

I'm thinking of you with your treatment starting soon xxx Flowers

Luckfor2021 · 01/01/2021 09:03

@StarryHannah happy New Year!! They didn’t mention anything to me either...but it is a very good point! I am working mostly from home as well but I will make sure it’s the case while I’m doing this cycle. My first injection will be tonight and my first treatment appointment is on Monday!! I’ll keep you posted! :)

StarryHannah · 01/01/2021 10:10

Happy new year @Luckfor2021 and @Beaglemum91

Wow, you are both planned to start at around the exact same time! I'm excited for you both.

Luckfor2021 , yes please keep me updated 😊 xxx

Beaglemum91 · 01/01/2021 11:57

Thanks @StarryHannah! Yes probably best to be safe. I've been isolating pretty much most of Dec apart from the odd trip to the shops being very careful (delivery slots are a nightmare and my DH can't drive at the moment and has been working overtime in the run up to Christmas). I plan to completely isolate in Jan for the whole of treatment.

@Luckfor2021 good luck for today! I feel like I'm on a waiting game... due AF today and having cramps since this morning but nothing yet! They told me midday was the cut off for it counting as CD1 so I feel like I won't start injections now until the 3rd :( Is this how it worked for you? Looks like we'll just be a couple of days apart either way which is nice!

Happy new year to you all - lets hope 2021 brings good news for us all!

Luckfor2021 · 01/01/2021 12:10

@Beaglemum91 I know exactly how you feel!! My period was supposed to start on the 27th but I think I was thinking about it so much it got delayed! Yes the cut off seems to be 12 pm. They want to make sure you start injections when you’re bleeding properly and not just spotting (sorry for being so descriptive) but this is what they told me! We will just be a few days apart and it is indeed nice to be able to talk with someone going through the exact same thing. I hope we are both lucky and it all goes nice and smoothly :)

Beaglemum91 · 01/01/2021 12:15

@Luckfor2021 yes I think that's right, I think j worry as I only bleed for a few days anyway so feel like I'll be almost done by the time I start injections! I've technically started but very light (pretty much just spotting) but I think ill wait till its heavier before emailing them. To be fair I'm so regular that I know I almost always start around 4pm but was a bit earlier last month (by a couple of hours) so I think I just had my hopes up that it may happened again!

Luckfor2021 · 01/01/2021 19:11

@Beaglemum91 I see...well then we are only 2 days apart!! And you’ll be right after @StarryHannah!! I had my first injection today, they recommended that I start with 100 bemfola, which is pretty low I think. The injection was pretty easy and not painful at all! I had it in the tummy as I think I have a bit more fat there Grin. Let’s hope i start producing good eggs!!! :)

StarryHannah · 01/01/2021 21:41

@Luckfor2021 how exciting! I'm guessing I'm going to be on low dosage to start too as my AMH is classed as 'high' as it's 39. It's nice to hear the injection wasn't painful ... I've always had a bit of a podge on my belly so for the first time ever I'll see this as a good thing Haha xxx
