Hi all,

Just wondering if any one else is awaiting information from BWH in relation to when they will start back up?
Thought we could have a board to share info?

xx

@jm2020 maybe give Anna a call, she's based at the women's, so she'll be able to check what your CCG is doing xx

jm2020 · 11/06/2020 14:10

Hi ladies I emailed my CCG and got this back -

Thank you for your email, I can confirm that your funding will not end after 6 months. The NHS is facing significant waiting times at the moment due to the pandemic and we are awaiting details from Birmingham Women’s and Children Hospital regarding their plans and timescales for this service. We will then work with BWCH to understand the implications for each patient and communicate with all patients regarding their treatment. I envisage this will take place over the coming weeks.

My apologies I’m not able to provide a clearer position at the current time, however please be assured we are progressing this with BWCH.

So atleast funding will still be ok and hopefully hear from them soon

xx

I'm glad you've heard back @jm2020 and it does seem like things are happening behind the scenes 🤞 I hope you get some clarity soon xx

Just seen on the BWH website that they are re-opening services :) and will be in touch soon :)

Any luck on your new clinic?

That's great news! Fingers crossed you hear something soon @jm2020 🤞

No news yet... Dh thinks I'm being very impatient! But it's been 2 days, haha! Xx

VenusStarr · 17/06/2020 08:48

How are you getting on @jm2020? The hospital called me on Monday, my notes are bring transferred today but the contract doesn't start until August, so we've decided to take a bit of a break for all things fertility and just try to get as healthy as possible and I need to focus on my mindset.

Hope you've heard from them :) xx

Hi @VenusStarr ,

Oh no :( that sucks! August will be here before we know it. is it care or create you have gone with?

Sometimes we just need to take a break and clear our heads. TTC is such a stressful process :(

Not heard from them yet but they have finally updated their website to say they are open and will be contacting people and if we haven't heard in a few weeks to ring the nurse advice line.

So hopefully not long :)

xx

Fingers crossed for you 🤞 @jm2020

I think I need the break to be honest, so just trying to stay focused and August isn't that far off, like you say. Although my period is due on something like the 28 July - typical! But once we're in the system I'll feel better. It's with Create Birmingham.

Let me know when you hear from them :) xx

jm2020 · 17/06/2020 09:19

I say every month that I won't track ovulation or symptom spot but I do - I can't help it :(

I was looking at create a few months ago and they have good statistics! @VenusStarr

Just typical ain't it that your due at the end of July!

Tbh I don't think we'll start until August/September depending on their backlog of FET's. We will probably have to have bloods taken again aswell. I don't know whether we will have to do consent signing again either :(

xx

VenusStarr · 17/06/2020 09:42

It's really hard to un-notice what your body is doing @jm2020, I'm due to ovulate in the next couple of days and lots of good signs... But I'm ignoring them as best I can 😑 now we've decided to not try I feel committed to that as I don't want to risk it (I've had 3 miscarriages now so not sure we can do it without help) it's a stark contrast to last month!

Hopefully they're starting with FETs first and you don't have to redo things you've already done 🤞 hopefully if they do need to do those things they can call you in sooner rather than later xx

jm2020 · 26/06/2020 11:34

Hi Ladies,

Had a letter from BWH to say we are being transferred to Create Birmingham.

No reason given! Feel a bit upset tbh.

VenusStarr · 26/06/2020 12:11

Oh wow! @jm2020 I spoke to the clinic director on Tuesday and he said that Walsall CCG was dealing with all the details and were sorting governance procedures. I've got nothing in writing. Still continues to be a bit of a shit show.

I'm sorry you're upset - we weren't given a choice xx

Pinktruffle · 26/06/2020 12:18

I wonder what's going on. I've got 3 embryo's in storage there. I hope they are safe

jm2020 · 26/06/2020 12:34

Yeah it does seem to be abit of a shit show still!
In my letter it says the my CCG has been put out to tender and have transferred their nhs contract and were transferring us to Create.

Maybe BWH can't do fresh cycles yet, or maybe the CCG doesn't want to wait, there is so many reasons its could be but it would have been nice to be told a reason other than contracts changed. Like whats the reason for it??

@pinktruffle I think they will be safe. I know BWH is still doing FET atm. Maybe give them a call?

xx

OP posts:
VenusStarr · 26/06/2020 12:43

@jm2020 the clinic director said to me that Create is cheaper, but they aren't really in a position to proceed, so I'd prefer to go where there's a chance we'll actually get to have a cycle this year.
They sent me my notes which actually is just copies of my letters - that I already have 🙄 so not much use really.

@Pinktruffle yes, FETS are being done I think, I'm sure your embies are safe ❤️

jm2020 · 26/06/2020 12:52

Oh wow that's what he said? That's a bit crap to say to someone who has already been delayed ain't it.

Yeah they should give us a choice.

I might phone Anna Macken and see if I can get a reason out of her.

I've gotta send this form back to say they can send our file to Create.

Hi Ladies - How are you doing? xx

OP posts:
VenusStarr · 01/07/2020 22:08

We're in limbo @jm2020 - Create called me yesterday and said they still hadn't received anything from BWH. I spoke to Anna & Jackson and they're adamant that it's nothing to do with them. I'm chasing my ccg but so far have heard nothing. I have my notes but it's just letters, so I don't really know how to prove that we have funding to transfer - I sent my funding letter but didn't hear back. Very frustrated.

I think we'll give it a couple of months and then we might just start the ball rolling for private treatment. I just can't see the ccg pulling their finger out and actually doing their job.

What about you? Xx

jm2020 · 02/07/2020 07:59

I think it is your own CCG who have changed funding - I tried contacting them to find out why but no response.

I phoned Create when I received my letter to say we were being transferred and she said they aren't doing anything with referrals until August :(

xx

OP posts:
VenusStarr · 02/07/2020 08:59

Yes, I'm trying to trust the process @jm2020 my ccg has changed their preferred provider, but hasn't set out the protocol to actually transfer anyone over 🙄 the hospital are saying they aren't responsible (get the distinct impression that they're pissed off that ccgs are moving patients but giving them the work to do!)

I think officially the contract should start in August, so now it's July, I'm hoping that it won't be long 🤞

Going to leave it until next week and chase up again. Hope we both hear something soon xx

jm2020 · 02/07/2020 09:12

Yeah think BWH will be pissed off because they will be losing money.

I don't believe they don't know anything because my letter was addressed from Anna Macken

xx

OP posts:
VenusStarr · 02/07/2020 10:44

I changed my mind @jm2020 I called Create today. They've registered me as a patient now and I've sent my hospital notes and copies of the correspondence I've had with the fertility director about moving our care. The person I spoke with is going to liaise with the NHS coordinator 🤞

The good news is there is no waiting list, so as soon as they have the funding details we could get started. Just hope they hear something soon! Xx

VenusStarr · 02/07/2020 10:45

Just saw your other post - yep, that's who sent mine too xx

jm2020 · 02/07/2020 14:42

Ohh that's good news @VenusStarr - I'm going to phone them next week and see if they have received my notes from BWH.

Good that there is no waiting list :)
xx

Hey @jm2020, I heard back from our ccg today. Good news, they've had a meeting today and will be having weekly ones whilst they transfer over everyone to Create to ensure it all goes well. So am hopeful that we'll hear something soon.

The commissioning manager was so lovely and said if I have any more concerns I can contact her directly. Such a relief to know that we've not been forgotten 🍀

Hopefully we'll both hear something soon xx
