@notReginaPhalange: Different clinics, different protocols, different people with different fertility issues.

Hi @JessTTC, I still think 7dp5dt is early, our clinic says a home pregnancy test can be done from 12dp5dt (blood from 10dp5dt) secretion of HCG by the implantation of a 5 day blast doesn't start until about 5dpt, and it's very gradual in the early days! Have you got a blood test booked?

I'm feeling really negative about it all today, I need a real kick up the arse! Off to have acupuncture now, hopefully I can feel more positive this afternoon!

Lily999 · 11/02/2020 10:55

It is indeed interesting how different our dosages are, I am on 1 Crinone gel per day that is 1.125g that is definitely working as I have been having my longest ever PMS and still have 6 of these to go grrr.

seven201 · 11/02/2020 12:06

I'm just back from the clinic. The nurse said she didn't know why my period arrived so very early but her best guess is low progesterone. She did a blood test and I'm booked in to see the doctor in a couple of weeks. I'm eating my body weight in chocolate today with no guilt!

@dobbiefreeelf I hope the acupuncture cheers you up. Pick yourself up and keep on swimming (hope you've seen finding nemo)!

notReginaPhalange · 11/02/2020 12:34

@Lily999 is it progesterone that causes PMS? Then it explains my depressed mood, I've been so down lately. Feeling sorry for my OH, he is very understanding even when I have a go at him for nothing.

notReginaPhalange · 11/02/2020 12:36

@seven201 so did they say if it means unsuccessful or there is still a chance?

P.S. I never stopped eating lots of chocolate haha. Had pizza already a few times since the ET, but all books and articles say nothing can affect the result, no matter if you do something good or bad.

Lily999 · 11/02/2020 13:02

@notreginaphalange yes, it does, has a lot to answer for! Basically causing all these symptoms (being bloated, emotional, sore breasts etc.), it's so much fun!
My hubby knows it's not the real me and he understands, but to be honest I think I would have moved out already after all my tantrums haha!

seven201 · 11/02/2020 13:22

@notReginaPhalange she was pretty sure it was a proper period too. She said to stop doing the progesterone and to do a pregnancy test on the planned day (next Tuesday) just to confirm.

Lily999 · 11/02/2020 14:34

Sorry @seven201 that's what I said that your progesterone dropped but I don't quite understand how is that even possible with the pessaries? Your body didn't process the progesterone? When will you see the blood results?

@rainbow178 and @Stace999 are you also going mad here? I have no symptoms apart from the obvious progesterone ones that I had before ET so is impossible to be related to any sort of HCG, preparing myself for negative in order to keep my sanity. Keep thinking on paper if we are pregnant our HCG has to be over 100 meaning there is no way a HPT wouldn't show it, even the not sensitive ones will. It's so hard!

BambiOnIce80 · 11/02/2020 14:45

I obviously don't want to tempt you into testing early @Lily999 but! 🙊 my blood/serum beta-hCG was 135IU at 9dp5dt and I got reasonable lines on HPT's with sensitivities of 10IU and 25IU at 10dp5dt 😬 The strongest line I had on the same day was on an IC OPK! 😂 The hCG cross-reacts with the LH test and gives a stonking BFP! 🤓

Stay strong though! I didn't want to face a BFN before I had to and I'm really glad I managed to wait until OTD now, even though I was lucky. Wishing you all just as much luck for Friday 🍀🍀🍀

seven201 · 11/02/2020 14:51

@Lily999 I don't understand either. She said maybe next time I'd have progesterone injections and the suppositories. I asked if maybe I'd have tracking blood tests and she said since the injections are synthetic it wouldn't show up on a blood test but would definitely be absorbed. Hopefully the doctor will be able to tell me more. I've asked for my blood result but I forgot to ask when they'd be in - doh!

rainbow178 · 11/02/2020 14:57

@seven201 @Lily999 @Stace999 yes I am slowly going insane!! It's just every twinge makes me think the best, then the worst- it's SO annoying!! After 3 failed attempts for me, I have been on progesterone injections as well this time. The side effects have been awful- my boobs!!

Lily999 · 11/02/2020 14:57

Thanks @bambionice80 I keep remembering your dull ache and every time I feel something in there I think is that a dull ache haha :) It's silly.
The thought that as this is our first ever IVF and I know there was an embryo inside makes me realise I have never been more pregnant than this. Just too scared to burst that bubble.
It does feel good to have the plan B as we booked 3 small trips yesterday for this year and the clinic told me I can have the frostie back in May, but I still keep imagining that moment when we see the test (Ninewells don't do blood tests,j ust gave us a HPT) and how happy it would make us to see the two lines. Ah, come back down to earth, stupid woman!!!

Minster2012 · 11/02/2020 15:21

I’m so sorry @seven201 that’s awful I would have eaten my weight in chocolate too please be good to yourself

I’m on 3 x pessaries & still 4 x 4mg of eastrogen per day But ours is FET, so a lot for me after my lining wasn’t ready but our clinic still does a progesterone blood test the day before transfer (which was very prevalent when we did our first FET 2 years ago most clinics did it & wouldn’t transfer unless you were over a certain amount) I would have had to go back for a top up injection if mine wasn’t high enough but fortunately it was

I’m going crazy thinking “is that cramp, a twinge, a dull ache, wind /bloat or just my leggings/jeans too tight????” It’s all wishful thinking 🤦🏼‍♀️🙈

JessTTC · 11/02/2020 15:59

@DobbieFreeElf Thank you, I hope you’re right. I’m now not sure there was a line there at all this morning, just wishful thinking. So funny how every clinic seems to do something different regarding test day! Mine don’t do blood tests, just a HPT on day 10.

Minster2012 · 11/02/2020 16:00

@JessTTC I also think you may have just been testing too early xx

Minster2012 · 11/02/2020 16:02

My clinic also doesn’t do bloods, hpt only but also at 14 days on the day they give you with their test won’t take any result sooner! I can understand why, that way they know for sure it’s right

BambiOnIce80 · 11/02/2020 16:02

You're not being stupid at all @Lily999! I totally understand not wanting to burst the bubble (which is why I didn't test early 😉). The blood test was great for giving such a definitive answer, but it was a bit strange getting the news over the phone - it would have been a lot more exciting to have POAS and seen a BFP for the first time ever! 🤩 But then it would have slayed me POAS and seeing another BFN, whereas I think I was prepared for that news over the phone... whichever way, it's basically a head f🤬k! Just 3 more sleeps though ladies 🤞🍀🤞🍀

Minster2012 · 11/02/2020 16:11

Also ladies, the skin on my whole face is cracking up it’s so dry it’s awful I can’t moisturise more than I do really twice a day and it looks like I’m wearing a cracking bad make up mask 😫🤷‍♀️

Lily999 · 11/02/2020 16:22

Thank you @bambionice80 sweet denial is a wonderful place and I think I will stay here for a bit longer :)
100% sure everyone else is doing this, but happens to me like a million times each day to imagine my reaction to the positive and then to the negative. I can see hubby's face being so happy... oh, please stop Lily's brain, just stop!!

rainbow178 · 11/02/2020 19:09

@Lily999 that is exactly me!! Omg how amazing will it be if it's a BFP??? "Bloody hell, it's not going to be, Calm down"
I would say me and my brain have this conversation about 50 times a day!!!??

Stace999 · 11/02/2020 21:19

@Lily999 @BambiOnIce80 @rainbow178 I bought some tests today as they were on offer (Morrisons FR if you need any!) it's a risk as now I know they are in the house. DH is away tonight aswell so I only have my willpower! I think I mentioned on my 1st ivf a few years back I tested 2 days early and got a light bfp but test day was BFN it was horrible! This has definitely taught me a lesson I think I will test Sat tho I'll be 12dp5dt then so reckon I should be safe. Otd is sunday.
Physically I can't say I have any symptoms that can't be put down to the progesterone or the complete head f*#k that is the TWW!

rainbow178 · 11/02/2020 21:27

@Stace999 I'm buying mine tomorrow so Thursday will be a test of my willpower too!!

My OTD is Friday which is 11days after transfer- how accurate will this be? I kinda thought in my head if it's a negative, I might carry on with the progesterone until Saturday morning and test again to be sure- is this silly? Is it pretty accurate by day 11 and should I just open the wine!!??

Minster2012 · 11/02/2020 22:36

@Stace999 & @rainbow178 I’ve got a few tests in the house I think from when TTC before we started IVF that are less than 6 months old then the test the clinic gave us. Only 4dp5dt today & no inclination to test currently I know it would be negative before Valentine’s & don’t want to ruin that but I think will be much much harder next week

Sending will power your way ladies!!

Minster2012 · 11/02/2020 22:37

@rainbow178 surely if your OTD is 11 days after transfer then that would be accurate? If that’s what they told you?

Stace999 · 11/02/2020 22:51

@rainbow178 if that's your OTD then go with what they say. When I tested early it was a 3 day transfer, OTD was 14 days post transfer I tested day 12 Bfp then a Bfn on day 14. It was my 1st ivf and I didn't know as much as I know now so assumed it was the trigger in my system still but I think it was probably an early chemical.
It's interesting how different clinics vary so much my otd is 13 days post 5 day transfer but have seen others with 11 or 12 day OTD or even a blood test at 10 days. Same with the progesterone protocol, I'm on twice daily oestrogen and 3 x daily progesterone. 1st ivf and iui was twice daily progesterone and no oestrogen.
