It’s a long road @minster2012! So many buseralin jabs, becomes second nature after a while doesn’t it.

Wishing you all the best for the week ahead and onto transfer 😊.

BambiOnIce80 · 30/01/2020 07:59

Sending @huffleclaw @rainbow178 @Lily999 @Stace999 tonnes of positivity for your fertilisation news today 💓💓💓 Good luck ladies 🤞🍀🤞🍀

Stace999 · 30/01/2020 08:15

Thank you @BambiOnIce80 the clinic called me yesterday at 4pm.. Woke me up from a lovely post sedation nap and scared the crap out of me. I was convinced they were calling to say they had dropped all the eggs or none of them were intact but no it was just to check I was OK after EC.
Good luck to everyone else getting news today its a roller-coaster of a ride!

huffleclaw · 30/01/2020 08:24

Thank you @BambiOnIce80!!

I am currently enjoying still being in bed...my mum said I wasn't allowed to go to work! I actually feel okay though...just exhausted. I do have horrendous period pain though, so this isn't as bad as that...and I was starting to be in pain with the amount of bloat and follicles yesterday so it's just a relief all round.

How are you feeling @Lily999 @rainbow178 @Stace999 ?

Good luck for your day 5 news @Dia12 I have everything crossed it will be good news. What is PGS?

Keep growing that lining @Minster2012 I'm sure that it'll be perfect for next Friday! You're doing a fab job and it's definitely better to wait until your little frostie has the best shot!

How long have you got left @justkeeprunning5 ?

rainbow178 · 30/01/2020 08:46

I am feeling loads better than yesterday, was quite painful last night but ok now. I hate the pessaries!!! They are horrible!

Just waiting for my call now......

How's everyone else feeling?

Stace999 · 30/01/2020 09:06

@huffleclaw I am feeling OK a bit tender but much better than yesterday. Working from home today and tomorrow.
I have had the call we got 7 out of 9 normal fertilisation which I am over the moon with looking at a 5 day transfer on Monday. Fingers and toes crossed for everyone else xx

Chooklass · 30/01/2020 09:16

Take it easy ladies! I felt fine the day after but was then floored the day after that! Xx

OP posts:
Lily999 · 30/01/2020 10:24

Morning!
Still no call for us, we were the last couple yesterday so it is expected to happen later, but the wait is killing me! @Stace999 that is excellent news, I am now obviously thinking ours will be zero fertilisation, OMG, just call us already!
I am feeling totally fine today (apart from the wait of course).

@huffleclaw @rainbow178 have you heard anything?

huffleclaw · 30/01/2020 10:36

@Stace999 amazing news!!!!!

No news hear yet! But like @Lily999 I was the last appointment.

I am still dozing in bed!

Lily999 · 30/01/2020 10:41

So, got the call, not great news, but not the worst either, we got 4 embryos. They will call us on Friday to let us know how they are doing, transfer is booked for Monday. Just have to hope one of them will make it.

Nmvasey · 30/01/2020 10:58

Hi again, I’ve just been for my follow up after my failed first round ( EC but non fertilised). Had a good chat and upping meds during stimulation this time around. I was a bit surprised to hear that I can start again on Monday when only had EC 2 weeks ago. I thought they’d make me at least have one natural cycle in between. Has anyone back to back cycled before? I don’t want to be disadvantaged for the sake of my own personal impatience or the clinics convenience if that makes sense. Can anyone share their experience if you’ve been unfortunately in this situation? I’m happy to start again Monday but just seems a bit quick from what I’ve heard others say.

Nmvasey · 30/01/2020 11:00

@Lily999 try not to be disappointed, 4 is good. So know it’s hard but it only takes that magical 1

Stace999 · 30/01/2020 11:11

@Lily999 congratulations don't be disheartened all 4 could make it to blast and I could lose all mine. No one can be sure of anything in this game! One step at a time and you are still very much in the running xx

Lily999 · 30/01/2020 11:31

Thank you, I can't help but feel a bit down, this process is so cruel all the unpredictability every step of the way. I know all 4 can make it, however a lot more likely none of them will. At this point as I don't have them in me I am allowing myself to be anxious and sad then I hope I will look back at this day and feel silly for being this way.
Keep thinking what if we had gone for IVF instead of ICSI? The embryologist maybe could have picked a better sperm to inject? I am questioning everything. Aaaaaa

huffleclaw · 30/01/2020 11:44

Not great news here either.

Only 2

trying to remind myself that at least we have some but after 16 yesterday it's a hard thing to get my head around.

Lily999 · 30/01/2020 12:13

Oh @huffleclaw I must admit I did not see that coming after you had 16eggs. But then again I expected more from us too. Last 3months both of us have been eating healthy, taking supplements, watching our every move, so I am thinking this is what we can achieve with putting "our best efforts" in, then what is the point of maybe doing another round?
Sorry for being a downer, but I feel we really made an effort for this and would have expected more than 4 embryos to start with.

Chooklass · 30/01/2020 12:24

@Lily999 and @huffleclaw it is really is such a roller coaster but quality is better than quantity. It's taken me a little while to get my head around our poor-ish fertilisation and quality but then I remembered - we've been infertile for 3 years - of course there is going to be something wrong! First rounds of IVF can tell us a lot about where the problem might lie, and information is power 💪! If all my eggs had fertilised and produced good embryos I'd have been freaking out about it being an implantation issue, or immune response or something else, because there must be something!

It's such a lot to take in in a short space of time but everything we find out, even if not great news, gives us something to work on xx

Lily999 · 30/01/2020 12:32

Thank you @Chooklass I remember you had a day 3 transfer, thank you for your message, strangely it does make me feel better :) We do have MFI so it does make sense that not all 9 got fertilised I should have thought about this bit. What bugs me is that his SA was spot on in every way apart from motility so ICSI really should have fixed that, no?

They oddly said since we have more than 3 embryos the day 3 transfer is not an option as they only consider that if there are 3 or less. So not sure what happens if they all perish before Monday? He said if there is no transfer it means our NHS cycle was not used so we remain eligible for 3 full rounds.

I guess it is somewhat good news, however I would feel like this whole process was "for nothing" if you know what I mean...

Dia12 · 30/01/2020 12:42

Happy to hear everyone's got embryos. Thanks

I can completely understand your disappointment @huffleclaw. It's such non linear journey, just never know what's around the corner. I still think 2 embryos is brilliant and will be rooting for them to get to blast stage. Keep yourself positive and keep yourself busy xx

BambiOnIce80 · 30/01/2020 12:51

Absolutely what @Chooklass said ladies 👆 Quality over quantity every single time, so please try to not drive yourseves mad with worry ❤️

@Lily999 we had a split cycle (half eggs had IVF and other half had ICSI) and the embryologist did say that ICSI doesn't guarantee fertilisation. They said they select the sperm that look the best quality, but that doesn't mean that the genetic material they contain is of the best quality (there's sadly no way to check for that). That's why they say they prefer to do IVF wherever possible because the best quality sperm will fertilise the eggs (which may look like right mingers down the microscope! 🔬🎈🥴). Hope this helps explain it a bit.x

rainbow178 · 30/01/2020 12:53

Hi guys, remember they say it only takes 1- hard to take the bad news I know but hang on in there.

I got the call- 9/10 were suitable and 7 have fertilised this morning so they have booked me in for Monday transfer.

Big hugs everyone

justkeeprunning5 · 30/01/2020 12:57

@huffleclaw I have a scan in a weeks time and then transfer the week after (all being well). I’m really struggling with anxiety and general forgetfulness at the moment. The drugs & stress Plus work pressures is a perfect storm.

To those with numbers less than they had hoped for please try not to feel too discouraged. The drop off from what they collect to what fertilises can be a shock but is very normal. The quality over quantity is what matters in the end but I know it can be a shock to see ref numbers drop. Sending best thoughts your way.

Chooklass · 30/01/2020 12:58

We had split cycle too and the IVF ones won! I didn't expect that.

@Lily999 it will never have been for nothing - even if our first rounds don't work they will inform the next round and increase our chances next time. Four is a really good number to start with though! Xx

OP posts:
Lily999 · 30/01/2020 13:12

Thank you @BambiOnIce80 and @Chooklass, I would probably feel better if day 3 transfer was an option, to have kind of a safety solution, but it isn't so if they don't make it to day 5 then that's it for this cycle.
I asked if they could do IVF, and the embryologist said once they see DH's sample he will let us know. So he did, when he came back said the sample is on the lower side so they will do ICSI. at this point we had to let it go. Hopefully it will still work, but if not next time we just try again aiming for IVF then if the sample is not good enough we do ICSI, so it goes.

@rainbow178 our numbers were so similar so far I wish I could also say we had 7, but so pleased for you, when will you get the next update? We will get a call on Saturday morning.

Stace999 · 30/01/2020 13:28

@huffleclaw @Lily999 we are using a Sperm donor so I guess would expect a higher fertilisation rate not that it guarantees anything at all they could all still fail.
When we did ICSI with DH Sperm we got 6 eggs with 2 poor embryos on day 3 this was the same for 2 cycles and it sucked, both were unsurprisingly BFN.
I know its a cliche but it really is about quality even with one embryo there is hope and if it doesn't work then they will learn from the process. I just hope we all get the results we desperately want.
