Hello, starting a new thread for those of us starting a new cycle after the holidays.

My background: one successful round of ivf a few years back resulted in my lovely DS and now trying for a second. We are about to go for round 3, following 1 bfn and 1 mc.

At the moment I am waiting for af to appear. Seem to be about to ovulate according to opk. So guessing should expect af in about 2 weeks time.

Going for natural FET with progesterone support. The question for me is whether to add steroids too. A little scared of long terms risks so we will see...

@Russkispy @itwasalovelydreamwhileitlasted @Christabelle89
I remember from previous threads you were doing, or thinking of doing another round in Jan?

Everybody welcome to join, wherever you are on your journey. It's a tough business, keeping company helps. Good luck!

@lilybelle123
My clinic said single transfers only for top quality aa blastocysts. I was allowed a double transfer last year because mine were average quality

This year they have agreed to double transfers as I've said this 3 cycle package is our last go - no more money (spent £35k to date) and we can't afford 6 individual transfers so are doubling them up

At other clinics I know you have to be aged 37 for double transfers

itwasalovelydreamwhileitlasted · 13/02/2020 15:37

@lilybelle123
I love very close to my clinic but have also used a local private ultrasound clinic (like the ones who offer 3D scans etc) as mine also offers blood tests for extra ones after the initial test day one

lilybelle123 · 13/02/2020 17:11

@itwasalovelydreamwhileitlasted

Definitely think it might depend on the clinic then (and age), our little embryos were both AA hatching blasts - I'm really keeping my fingers crossed, it's our first round of IVF and the embryos couldn't have been any better yesterday (we had no idea what to expect with it being our first round).

I have my fingers and toes crossed for you guys x

My GP said they can do it for us, yay! Then we can g to Dublin a little later in the week for an extra one I guess :-)

mincedpea · 13/02/2020 17:39

Just catching up on all your news.

Exciting that you have transfer and flights booked @Russkispy! Good luck! Something always comes up on the scan, but hope it wasn't actually anything too disruptive.

Great to hear you have a transfer date too @sometimesalways!

Sorry to hear about the negative @Ging78, I have definitely heard of late positives though, but I don't know if they are common. Hope you are OK.

@BettySwoll0cks How close are you to OTD? Some of what you're describing sounds like symptoms. Will you test again? Sorry about the previous MMCs and general disappointment, it's really hard all of this stuff. Hope you're OK.

@lilybelle123 Welcome and good luck! I had two transferred, they were medium quality but I think the clinic let us because I'll be 37 this year and we don't have any kids yet, plus four earlier rounds of different treatments. Think it varies by clinic though. Your blasts sound very promising!

Sorry if I've missed anyone's big updates, sending hugs to all.

itwasalovelydreamwhileitlasted · 13/02/2020 17:41

@lilybelle123
A lot of clinics don't like to do double transfers as I believe they have to report multiples to the HFEA and are set targets

Russkispy · 13/02/2020 18:19

@BettySwoll0cks I really hope it's not over for you yet! 🤞🏻🤞🏻

@Ging78 how are you doing?

@sometimesalways glad it's all good and transfer will go ahead! My cycle buddy after all

@Hufflepuff1 my transfer is also on 21st! Will be done at 8am UK time (my clinic is abroad)
, you're my twin cycle buddy

@lilybelle123 hope tww is kind to you 🤞🏻

Hatawa83 · 13/02/2020 18:27

Crossing everything for you @lilybelle123 and @BettySwoll0cks

Hello everyone else :) there have been quite a few posts so I’m a bit behind but had my 2nd scan and stims going ok. 14 follicles. Just hoping they get to an adequate size next week. Egg collection estimated 21 Feb so I guess transfer 26th if all goes well!

Hufflepuff1 · 13/02/2020 18:29

@Russkispy oh wow that's great! I must warn you now I'm a nervous wreck. My transfer will be at some point in the afternoon. Is this your first transfer?

Russkispy · 13/02/2020 18:43

@Hufflepuff1 stay calm! I'll pull you through till transfer and especially during tww! And no early testing! Not happening! Not cheating and stick to OTD! GrinI'll be watching you haha I'm going through DE route, this will be my 2nd transfer as had a chemical in October. Which amassed to 5 miscarriages last year alone! So quit my own eggs as also had trisomy when PGS tested. And I'm sure I'm the most ancient on here Hmm after transfer we still have 10 top quality 5AB-5BA in the freezer. But I'm crossing my everything for this cycle! And rooting for everyone else!

Hufflepuff1 · 13/02/2020 19:40

Thank you @Russkispy you will regret saying that! I have a 4AB (I think) that will be being transferred, its frozen so I'm worried about it not being fully in tact or the quality suffering from the thawing process.

Russkispy · 13/02/2020 20:58

@Hufflepuff1 you must not think that way! Give your brain positive vibes! Every time negative/doubtful thoughts are creeping in, stop yourself and ask this question: where and what is the evidence of that? Also, shout out loud Stop and out your hand in a 🙏🏻 and keep repeating : all is well. Over and over again!

Hufflepuff1 · 13/02/2020 21:55

Thanks @Russkispy easier said than done but let's see what happens and go from there x

Russkispy · 13/02/2020 22:08

I know @Hufflepuff1 but we can only try! Rooting for both of us and all of us on here! 🤞🏻🤞🏻🤞🏻

BettySwoll0cks · 14/02/2020 06:51

8dp5dt - not even the squintiest squinter on a FRER. OTD is 11dpt so a FRER should be picking something up by now. I also don't feel anything except a slight medication hangover. I'm out. 😔

BettySwoll0cks · 14/02/2020 07:14

Does anyone know how soon you can do another FET? I have 3 frosties left in this cycle

itwasalovelydreamwhileitlasted · 14/02/2020 07:43

@BettySwoll0cks
Sorry this cycle hasn't worked for you 💐
I did a second FET about 6 weeks after the first - I do non medicated transfers though so just had to wait to get my next period and I transferred 5 days after ovulation day x

Ging78 · 14/02/2020 08:59

Hello all! There is loads of catch up on here. I'll try to get everyone!

@Russkispy you must be excited to be getting going with it! Fingers crossed! Where are you flying for treatment?

@Hufflepuff1nd gave me the impression it was harder there. They also travelled from the West to Dublin to do it. Great that your doctor will do your test.

@hatawa83 14 follicles sounds great!

@Hufflepuff it's such a stressful process. Look after yourself and keep coming here. This support is great!

@BettySwoll0cks I'm in a similar position to you. Today is 10dp5dt and there is no sign of a line. I was on to both my clinic and my clinic yesterday who said keep taking meds and testing as i may still get a positive on day 11/12. It seems like i am prolonging the agony. So today dd and i fly to my parents in Ireland with a bag full of ivf meds and needles! This extra hope is driving me crazy. I think my oh is particularly looking forward to the break from me! Ha!

Happy Valentine's day ladies!

BettySwoll0cks · 14/02/2020 09:53

@itwasalovelydreamwhileitlasted thank you that's really encouraging. I just want to get on with it really, and next time I'll definitely go for non medicated, the side effects of the drugs have been giving me false hope this cycle which I could do without!

@Ging78 sorry you are in the same boat. I agree there's nothing worse than someone feeding you that tiny element of hope, when really all you want to do is come to terms with what you already know.

Happy Valentines Day everyone - hope you are all made to feel loved today xx

Hatawa83 · 14/02/2020 10:27

So sorry @BettySwoll0cks :-( I think my consultant recommended a 1 cycle break before trying again but in my case, I'd had a mc so I took a few months break as I didn't feel ready emotionally.

Rooting for you @Ging78 hope you get the bfp you want

Special valentine baby dust to all of you ladies today x

Hufflepuff1 · 14/02/2020 12:11

So sorry @BettySwoll0cks 😔💜 I think if your ready you can continue when you want but it depends on your clinic as some prefer you to have a rest of a cycle at least.

@Ging78 that feeling of false hope is the worst!! Try and focus on your trip and put it to the back of your mind for now 💜

BettySwoll0cks · 14/02/2020 12:41

I called my clinic and they recommended a withdrawal bleed, then a full cycle before trying again. I'll have to think about that, in that case it'll be May before I try again 🙄 which feels like a really long wait

In case it interests anyone, I asked about dosing of Progesterone because I've noticed that some people are on 2x Cyclogest daily, some are on 3, some are on injections plus pessaries etc. I wondered whether the spotting I'm having is to do with the dose being too low (2x 400mg per day). The nurse just said that 800mg 'is enough' and that if you give more than that, the body just flushes it through anyway. Who knows.

Thanks for the hugs 💜 I always come back to these boards because everyone is so amazingly supportive xx

willithappen · 14/02/2020 13:42

Hey hope you don't mind me randomly popping here. I figured as most of you are going through it right now you might be better placed to advise me

I got a letter in summing up our first fertility appointment. On the letter under baseline ultrasound scan it says 'antral follicle of 34'
Anyone know what this means? I'm not back in until the 25th Feb to ask and getting conflicting answers on the web

itwasalovelydreamwhileitlasted · 14/02/2020 16:29

@willithappen
Your Antral follicle count is very high and means you should respond really well to IVF stimulation
(I'm 36 and mine is around 12)

BettySwoll0cks · 15/02/2020 08:07

Oh. Fuckkk.

I have done something really stupid. I was so upset last night about this round not working I decided to drown my sorrows in a bottle of wine (yes, the whole bottle). Then I had one FRER left this morning so I thought sod it I'll just check and this happened. I mean, there's nothing I can do about it, but I am a TOTAL IDIOT.

Jan/Feb IVF/ICSI/FET here we go...
Parkandride · 15/02/2020 08:10

Oh wow Betty! How many days are you? I know you'll be beating yourself up but I'd have done the exact same, and think about how many women have done the same with no idea they're possible pregnant Flowers
