Hello, starting a new thread for those of us starting a new cycle after the holidays.

My background: one successful round of ivf a few years back resulted in my lovely DS and now trying for a second. We are about to go for round 3, following 1 bfn and 1 mc.

At the moment I am waiting for af to appear. Seem to be about to ovulate according to opk. So guessing should expect af in about 2 weeks time.

Going for natural FET with progesterone support. The question for me is whether to add steroids too. A little scared of long terms risks so we will see...

@Russkispy @itwasalovelydreamwhileitlasted @Christabelle89
I remember from previous threads you were doing, or thinking of doing another round in Jan?

Everybody welcome to join, wherever you are on your journey. It's a tough business, keeping company helps. Good luck!

@Parkandride thank you for replying I am turning myself inside out. I'm 9dp5dt today. I have been so good for months leading up to this round - amazing diet, no alcohol etc. I can't believe I've done this at this point!! Wish I could rewind time 😟 Guess I have to put it behind me - and never tell DH, he'd fucking kill me

Russkispy · 15/02/2020 08:39

@BettySwoll0cks congratulations! And don't worry about last night! The main thing is / today you're pregnant!

BettySwoll0cks · 15/02/2020 09:01

Thanks @Russkispy. I hate myself right now though. 😔

Hatawa83 · 15/02/2020 09:08

Do not stress! It’s done and plenty of women drink at this stage because they have no clue they are even pregnant. Don’t worry! Congrats!!!! Ahhh so happy for you x

itwasalovelydreamwhileitlasted · 15/02/2020 09:25

@BettySwoll0cks
Congratulations! Don't worry my one successful pregnancy out of 8 I tested and thought I was out and drowned my sorrows and also went on lots of theme park rides (obviously not at the same time 🤢) - the next day for my BFP and that was my DD

BettySwoll0cks · 15/02/2020 09:41

@Hatawa83 @itwasalovelydreamwhileitlasted thank you so much. I literally can't believe how irresponsible I've been but I just have to let it go I guess. I read an article on the Telegraph website that says at this stage, either the pregnancy ends very quickly, or if it continues then the chances of damage at this stage are minimal. All or nothing. Ah well I was never going to relax during another pregnancy again anyway!!!

itwasalovelydreamwhileitlasted · 15/02/2020 09:47

@BettySwoll0cks
Maybe wine and relaxing aided the implantation process! 🤪

BettySwoll0cks · 15/02/2020 10:08

🤞😉

sometimesalways · 15/02/2020 10:56

Congratulations @BettySwoll0cks that's lovely news! Oh forget about the wine, I don't think it will affect anything, as pp said, plenty of women do the same when they don't know they are pregnant. And I think it's too early in the process to affect the embryo I think... good luck!! Are you calling the clinic on Monday then for a blood test? Woohoo

Sorry ladies I have been away and need to catch up with everyone's updates... sorry to hear your news @Ging78 has anything changed, have you tested again?

@Russkispy @Hatawa83 @Hufflepuff1 I think we are all pretty close cycle buddies this time! 🤞 for all

@itwasalovelydreamwhileitlasted so are you onto your last collection cycle now? Yay!

BettySwoll0cks · 15/02/2020 11:15

Thanks @sometimesalways. I'll be buying a million tests at the supermarket today (obvs!) and then call the clinic on Monday. Not sure what happens next actually 🤔

itwasalovelydreamwhileitlasted · 15/02/2020 11:40

@sometimesalways

Heya yes 5th and final egg collection in about 3 weeks hopefully and then I'm definitely not doing anymore

Doctor is worried about whether I'll make a fresh transfer though as lining at this last collection was 10.5mm - above 11mm they do a freeze all. Really can't afford to do that and don't want to wait another 6 weeks! So he's said to tweak the protocol a bit and not take tamoxifen but start stims on cycle day 4 - has anyone started that late in their cycle??

Hufflepuff1 · 15/02/2020 11:49

@BettySwoll0cks so happy for you! Amazing and don't worry loads of people do the same without knowing so there won't be any harm! X

Hufflepuff1 · 15/02/2020 11:52

@sometimesalways yes I think we are on similar timings eek start my lubion injections tomorrow trying my best to stay positive but who knows.

Hufflepuff1 · 15/02/2020 12:05

@itwasalovelydreamwhileitlasted you've got me thinking now, my lining on my scan last week was 10.2 and the doc booked me in for transfer Friday 21st but in the meantime I'm still taking the progynova which is the same as before the scan so surely it will thicken further and be too thick for transfer? 😩😩 Kill me now another thing to stress about. Anyone have any thoughts or done more research on this?

itwasalovelydreamwhileitlasted · 15/02/2020 12:14

@Hufflepuff1
I THINK from some of the medical journals I've read that it's the presence of lots of follicles maturing which increases estrogen and that can cause lining to thicken so I'm guessing if you are doing a FET then yours shouldn't get any thicker between now and then? I've never had lining checked when doing FET AFTER trigger shot for ovulation so they must not expect lining to thicken any more AFTER ovulation only before?

Hufflepuff1 · 15/02/2020 14:48

@itwasalovelydreamwhileitlasted I never had a trigger shot 😩 I had 7 days fyremadel and every day progynova until the scan and now still on progynova until adding in lubion tomorrow
I think I'm overthinking I'm sure they know what their doing but I am worried about the lining now

Hatawa83 · 15/02/2020 15:48

@sometimesalways yes looks like a few of us are on similar timings! Will be nice to have the support :)

BettySwoll0cks · 16/02/2020 22:16

Looks like my line has gone again 😔 god this process is such a headf*ck.

Ging78 · 16/02/2020 23:04

@BettySwoll0cks test again with your fmu tomorrow.

@Hufflepuff1 how are you finding the lubion? My stomach looks like a pin cushion! Rarely find it painful though.

@itwasalovelydreamwhileitlasted fingers crossed for your fresh transfer. A week wait could be hard going alright.

@sometimesalways so i tested Saturday at day 11, still no line. I emailed my consultant to ask if i should stop taking meds. I was thinking i would drink wine too! He asked if my period has started and as it hasn't he said test agsin Monday and he's hoping for better news. So I'll test again tomorrow! Its soooo unlikely that there will be a line! That's day 13. I don't test today.

Ging78 · 17/02/2020 05:34

Predictably still no line.

I really hope you all have better luck with this cycle!

@itwasalovelydreamwhileitlasted I'll see you on the March board. I'm going to get started again as soon as my next af starts after the one that'll start when i stop taking these meds!

Thanks for everything you've been fab.

One question... how much do you think acupuncture helps? I spent over £200 on acupuncture this cycle. I'm wondering whether to go without on the next cycle? Any opinions?

Xx

Parkandride · 17/02/2020 06:13

I'm sorry @BettySwoll0cks and @ging78 Sad

Ging did you find accupuncture relaxing or that it gave you a sense of control, if so maybe it's worth it. if you were doing it because it's what you do then maybe give it a break. You could always have a one off session post transfer or whenever they feel is most important. Or look at a simply health cash back plan or similar, I get 75% of accupuncture costs back up to £300 for about £15 a month and they pay so quickly without any quibbling

Ging78 · 17/02/2020 06:19

@parkandride thanks for your reply. I did it becauseni heard it's supposed to help with ivf. I did it for my sucessful fet with my daughter. But actually now at £70 a go the cost is just adding to my stress.

Surely it boils down to whether we have a viable embryo or not?

Parkandride · 17/02/2020 06:59

Gosh £70! I've been paying £40 up north, not surprised that's stressing you out. I think you're right tbh it's going to work or it's not, I don't think accupuncture hurts and if it relaxes you then great but don't feel bad about giving it a miss next time x

itwasalovelydreamwhileitlasted · 17/02/2020 07:41

@Ging78
I only do it post transfer but it has to be done within 3 days of transfer and they don't every seem to have appointments Monday's or tuesdays so some times I have t bothered with it. I'm in two minds about doing it on this next transfer - going to see what day I falls on and might try reflexology instead x
