IVF in Feb/March 2020?

Hello! I'm just wondering whether there are others starting their IVF journey in Feb/March 2020.

I am dealing with secondary infertility (male factor) and we have been TTC#2 for 16 months. We conceived naturally by some miracle back in July, but sadly had an early miscarriage (my third in total). We're now waiting to start ICSI IVF in early February.

Would love to hear from others doing the same. x

Sorry to hear you have to wait another month. Especially now you've put all those reminders in your phone! However if it hadn't worked and it was only vitamin d deficiency which is easily treatable it'd be such a shame. Best do all the prerequisites first! Good luck busying yourself this next month x

SpyroC · 03/02/2020 18:07

Sorry to hear that @granddesigns . Nothings ever straight forward on this journey is it.

I found out today that I'm now having the nasal spray instead of injections as there's none in stock. In many ways I think I'll prefer that, it'll just be a struggle at work as I don't stop all day.

I hope everyone was able to stay occupied over the weekend x

41trying · 03/02/2020 18:08

Evening ladies, I hope you dont mind if I join.
I have had one abandoned cycle 2 EC with no transfer and 1 transfer BFN only last week. As we are self funded I said this would be my last attempt but I am going for a follow up on Thursday so hoping to maybe start again on day 21.
How is everyone getting on? Anyone doing long protocol?? Ready to start

Mrsmch123 · 03/02/2020 19:04

Hi ladies, unfortunately no space for me this cycle so been provisionally booked in for next month😩more waiting.......

confused107 · 03/02/2020 19:57

Sorry to hear of all the waiting

I've also found out today that I'm having the nasal spray rather than the injections. We are self funded. Does anyone know if there is a cost difference?

SpyroC · 03/02/2020 20:34

Sorry I don't know about cost. I've just also noticed it's not buserelin spray either. A new option has appeared called synarel which it looks like I only have to take twice a day instead of four times. I have a nurse appointment on Thursday so I'll ask what the difference is.

Welcome @41trying. A few of us are starting LP next week.

Crumpets124 · 03/02/2020 20:48

@SpyroC I took Synarel a year ago on my cycle. 4 times a day. Worked fine for quietening down the lining.

ValidUser · 03/02/2020 20:59

May I join?

I'm 30, tubal sub fertility secondary to peritonitis and antiphospholipid syndrome.

I've had 3 chemical pregnancies, many cycles on gonal f and Cetrotide.

IVF in either early or late March.

I'm a doctor, but not a gynaecologist, and it's good in that I knew how to go about early testing (in Ireland), but bad in that a little knowledge is a dangerous thing.

Nervous, but happy to get going.

ValidUser · 03/02/2020 21:05

Oh, and my AMH is 12 and I'll be on gonal f 250 and cetrotide, followed by ovitrelle. Taken all of these before, but lower doses of gonal f.

Most unpleasantly, I'll need innohep injections throughout the cycle, and pregnancy and at least 6 weeks postpartum. That stuff bruises something wicked!

My AMH actually improved in the last year, but I think that's because my right ovary is no longer crushed by a gargantuan hydrosalpinx.

ChatWithMe · 03/02/2020 21:59

Welcome ValidUser - sorry to hear you're gonna be a bit of a pin cushion! Those extra injections don't sound nice but a lovely baby at the end of it will make up for it! :-)

ValidUser · 03/02/2020 22:04

Thank you @ChatWithMe! I'll keep you all updated and look forward to listening to everyone else's woes.

ValidUser · 03/02/2020 22:04

And successes!

granddesigns · 04/02/2020 20:05

Hi everyone and welcome to those who have joined the thread since I did!

Following my update on Friday just wondered if anyone has any proven tips on the vitamin d front? I've upped my daily dose from 1000 to 4000 units a day but need to move my blood levels from 40 to 50 and ideally higher than that (they say they want it to be 70!) by the end of feb in order to be allowed to start our cycle next month. Have got a busy plan for this month that features a lot of vitamin d tablets but sadly no real sunshine but will go a bit mad next month if we've not moved the levels up enough! And have now got a cupboard full of drugs all waiting as was supposed to start injections this week! Any ideas of experiences?! Fingers crossed and is this a normal requirement at every clinic and do they tell you before they do final blood test a couple of days before you are due to start?!

41trying · 04/02/2020 20:32

Evening all
@Granddesigns, what is the blood test before you start for?

SpyroC · 04/02/2020 20:37

I've never been tested for vitamin D. They have always told me to take a supplement though. I was just taking a standard one from Asda but after reading It Starts With the Egg I ordered some high strength ones. Hopefully the 4000IU ones will sort you out.

@Crumpets124 that's good to hear. I'll ask why not the buserelin version at my next appointment.

granddesigns · 04/02/2020 20:40

Hi @41trying - it was just a test to check vitamin d levels as a formality! Everything else was fine - until that result came back! Hopefully 4000 a day for a cycle will boost it up enough!

41trying · 04/02/2020 20:45

@Granddesigns, I haven't heard of it been tested for but like @spyroC said, they have always said just to take 400 a day

Embri · 05/02/2020 06:32

@granddesigns hi! I’m new to the thread, start meriofert injections tonight for short course ICSI. Complete newbie here 😬😬!
I had low vit d, (it was 39) and the doc said to get a spray as it is absorbed better, the highest I could get was 3000 off amazon, but I also got a calcium tablet which had a small amount of vit d in, but calcium is needed to absorb vit d. I started them both on the 19th dec, by the 16th jan my blood test showed levels of more than 90!!
They said the risk of miscarriage is higher if your levels are lower than 70, if mine were still lower than 50 they wouldn’t have let me proceed, if it was between 50 and 70 it was our choice but they would recommend waiting.
Hope this helps! Emily

ChatWithMe · 05/02/2020 07:14

Welcome Embri. You're the first to start in this group! You'll be the first to get your outcome then too - fingers crossed for you Grin What cycle day are you today? Did you start with the pill or anything, or are you just diving into meriofert stimming injections? My consultant appointment to order meds is Feb 26, then period comes around Mar 8 to start the pill (if we do the same as last time) x

granddesigns · 05/02/2020 07:59

Thanks @Embri that's really useful and interesting and glad your levels shot up! They kept saying it may affect the outcome of the cycle so knew the best thing was to take it and wait but annoying at the time. Will look into spray as an option too. Good luck with the injections and start of the cycle!

PineappleC · 05/02/2020 08:43

Thanks @embri I've just ordered the sane spray from Amazon 😊 No idea what my vit d levels are, but as its winter they can't be great! I start injections on Monday so we're similar timing xx

confused107 · 05/02/2020 09:38

Welcome @embri! I'm also going to order the vitamin d spray. I've been taking a vitamin d vitamin but upping it won't do any harm!

So my drugs arrived yesterday and I start the down reg the for long protocol on Saturday. Strangely enough I received Burselin rather than the spray (forget its name s something) I was told I was getting. Kind of relieved to be honest. I know what I'm getting with the injections as I've had them before and it's only once a day. Also feel like there is less room for human error than with the spray

Had a real blip on Tuesday when a work colleague announced her pregnancy after very little 'trying' I spent the whole of the evening sobbing at the injustice of it all. I'm now feeling much more positive and keen to get going. This will be our last attempt as we have now spent all of our savings and as much as I'm praying for a positive outcome, I'm kind of ready to move on after 3 tough years of TTC.

Best of luck to everyone on here. I really hope this is a lucky thread xxx

ChatWithMe · 05/02/2020 13:32

Fingers crossed you're the next at work to share pregnancy news confused107. It's definitely your turn after the tough time you've had Confused

41trying · 05/02/2020 19:30

Evening ladies! Can I ask where everyone is on their journey??? Cycle?? How many rounds? Rough start date??

SpyroC · 05/02/2020 20:59

I have a consents appointment with the nurse tomorrow. We've already completed the forms so what does this appointment entail? It's for 1 hour-I know she will talk me through the meds and how to take them but surely this won't take an hour??? I think there will be some bloods too. Too think I used to be terrified of blood tests. Had to get over that fast!

Sorry about the announcement @confused107 🤞🏻 for it being your turn next.

@41trying this is my first round. I have mild endo and low AMH. I start down reg on 14/2.
