Hi all,

I can't see a thread for Dec/ Jan yet - maybe because a lot of clinics shut over the holidays - but mine doesn't! Anyone else out there starting in December and want to support each other? This will be my first round so I'm pretty nervous! X

@MissHoney85 @41trying fingers crossed 🤞 for you both.

I can’t believe this is how my clinic will keep me waiting everyday! They tried calling me but I was sleeping, they got intouch with my husband saying they received a call I fainted!!! Really how? My husband told them I was perfectly fine except for pains in my abdomen and I did not make any call, wrong information.
It’s one hour after that call, no update on my eggs. I am getting really worried/scared now, this was the same problem I had with them before getting to egg collection(delay in communication), they promised it was going to be better now and this is it again.
When my partner had his sperm retrieval, there were suppose to call the next day for update, I had to call them myself the 2nd day as I could not bear waiting.

Rovera12 · 14/01/2020 10:15

@Lily999 yes anxiously waiting 🤔

Lily999 · 14/01/2020 10:23

Oh, @Rovera12 I feel your pain, I am still waiting for AF to show up!!! It was due on SUNDAY and I might add I am a regular, this is very unusual for me. Even more annoying is that I spot for 2-4 days before AF and now even that is a no show so it could be delayed until the weekend. Frekin' unbelievable.
I had a drink last night as I am getting desperate feeling so stressed, frustrated and anxious at the same time, this is possibly the reson for the delay, however I am completely unable to think about anything else at all. :(
Booked an acupuncture appointment for tomorrow 6PM, maybe that will help. I don't believe in acupuncture and afraid of the thought of those needles, but desperate times... right?
I would definitely keep calling them for information btw, are you on NHS or private?

MissHoney85 · 14/01/2020 10:46

@Lily999 I'm not sure about that either! I guess Saturday must be day 6 and maybe they figure that if they make it to day 5 they will make it to day 6? Seems to be the way they do it though!

Rovera12 · 14/01/2020 11:05

Got the dreaded call, out of 15 eggs, 11 were matured and 6 fertilised. She tried to explain that 2 fertilised abnormally and bla bla bla am like please I dont want to know too much details just tell me what I need to know!!! Lol
My next call will be thursday!!!
I am booked for a 5 day transfer on Saturday, if all goes well. She also suggested if I want a freeze all and do another cycle as I am entitled to three free cycles on the NHS.
Fingers crossed and praying for the best .

MissHoney85 · 14/01/2020 11:20

That's great news @Rovera12! And @41trying congrats on yours, it only takes one and as someone said up there, it sounds like yours is a strong one! 🤞🤞🤞 for everyone

Lily999 · 14/01/2020 11:56

That's great news @Rovera12 so there are 6 in the game? Exciting to wait for the next call hope they will keep growing nicely. So you don't need to take any time off for ET and can rest on Sunday that's pretty handy. Are you taking time off during the 2WW? Sorry you might have said and I missed it.
I have found a new thing to worry about: what if AF starts on Thursday, would my day 3 baseline scan be moved for Monday? That would be day day 5...? PEople on short/mild IVF: did you all have your baseline scan on CD3?

Chooklass · 14/01/2020 12:17

Hi @Lily999 I hope your pesky FP shows soon! My baseline scan was on CD4 and they started me on stims that day. I'm on short prorocol.

Melissa1983 · 14/01/2020 12:33

@Lily999 I'm on short protocol and mine baseline was CD3. They told me to call for scan once I'd been bleeding red for 2 hours then they booked me in the following day.

@41trying good luck for you and your egg, how many follicles did you have if you done mind me asking? My follicle count is 6 with no access to one of my ovaries so hoping I get something from egg collection. I've only had day 5 scan so far will follicles keep growing it will that be my count?

Fingers crossed for all you ladies that have had egg collection and waiting further news 🤞🏽🤞🏽🤞🏽

41trying · 14/01/2020 13:01

Thanks all. Nervous wait again for a call in the morning.
@Melissa1983 I had 3 collected. In last scan there was 6, but I didnt ask why only 3 was collected yesterday. I know my left ovary is difficult to get to, so maybe it was that.

Lily999 · 14/01/2020 13:01

STARTED SPOTTING!!!! :)
Sorry probably TMI, but I had to say it, I am so happy it means AF will start soon. What a relief, it's been agonising me since sunday. I might call the clinic and ask them what happens if it starts on Thursday just so I don't worry about it. I think CD5 is definitely too late.
Oh, there is still hope I will actually start stimms this week :)

MissHoney85 · 14/01/2020 13:04

Great news @Lily999! I definitely find all the waiting the worst part of this whole thing. You spend ages waiting for something to happen, then when it does happen it turns out to be just the start of another wait 😂 I guess that's life!

Lily999 · 14/01/2020 13:17

Thanks @MissHoney85 I feel the same way about everything even when I look back I think we started this wait maybe when we decided to start TTC? This section of our lives will not end until childbirth. And it can take years OMG so scary! I feel like my life had been all about this bit since I pretty much turned 30... In my twenties I was not bothered about having kids at all and now I think maybe I am too bothered if it makes sense? Sometimes I think one day when I look back at these years is this all I am going to see or remember? Pff..

Rovera12 · 14/01/2020 13:28

@lily999 yes I will take time off 2ww,I go to work due to my kind of job.
Glad you have started spotting now you can be thinking of the next step.
I did not have to wait for day 3 to get my baseline scan. Scans are done on mon/wed/Friday. U can walk in if u start on a Friday morning. Any other day u call or send an email to be booked in for one of the days.

MissHoney85 · 14/01/2020 13:29

@Lily999 yes I definitely know what you mean. I try to keep all this in perspective and not let it dominate my life but it's hard. And I imagine if/when you get pregnant it's just the start of another lorryload of anxieties and stresses. And then the same when the baby arrives! Such fun.

Kellyprt1 · 14/01/2020 13:34

@Rovera12 did you expect 15 from your scan? Brilliant new

Kellyprt1 · 14/01/2020 13:35

News*

Lily999 · 14/01/2020 13:36

Oh, yes lucky to be women haha!
Had a nice chat with my boss a few minutes ago and it was so nice, he was asking where we are and what is the schedule I told him well that's a million dollar question as I would love to start, but we don't know anything until we actually know something. He was so nice told me I shouldn't worry about anything at all work wise we will figure it all out and asked what would I like the cover story to be. It felt good to talk about it. I consider myself lucky as he and his wife went through the same (have a 5year old IVF girl) and he understands it completely that is a massive help and relief.
Also told him I don't want anyone else to know from work as I don't need the extra pressure and people asking me for updates, would like to do this in private. Once it's done I will be open about it, but at this stage it's better to keep it to ourselves. My friends and family don't know either that's a bit strange as I am avery chatty and a rather oversharing person (probably got the idea from my mile long posts haha!).

HappyFeet3 · 14/01/2020 13:50

Hi, can I join? I'm doing a natural cycle (in December I had a failed ET using meds so trying natural this time round) and have a scan next Monday to see if my womb lining will be thick enough. If not then its likely i'll use meds again. Anyone doing a natural cycle? I need to read back through the thread to keep up! We did a natural cycle and had success with our first child so hoping this time round it will work again...

Minster2012 · 14/01/2020 14:24

@Rovera12 can I just throw something into the mix about them suggesting freeze all... if you get pregnant & once the child goes past 6 months old then that’s NHS done for you. You would pay for storage costs of any frozen embryos every year (about £250 or £350) plus a full cycle if you wanted to do it again. Whereas if you froze all you could “bank your embryos” and NHS pay storage costs I think dependant on the location for a certain time. That’s prob why they said it. I know you are all fired up but consider if you want to make use of that funding to see if you could get some more frozen just in case.

Our frozen cycle without the EC as we have a child & as you don’t need EC is costing c£2000 & that’s to transfer one embryo. If we get. BFP we pay that all over again. If we had to pay for EC too I don’t know how much it would be. If you can get that covered I would consider it.

Rovera12 · 14/01/2020 14:53

@minister2012 I perfectly understand what you are saying, like u said I am all fired up. It actually depends on how many embryos we have on day5.
Thank you

Rovera12 · 14/01/2020 14:55

@Kellyprt1 no I did not expect 15 at all from the scan, expected about 7-9. It’s now down to 6 that was fertilised.

Rovera12 · 14/01/2020 14:58

@Minster2012 can I ask please? Maybe you have answered before, did u get lucky on your first cycle, how many embryos did you get and put back, how many did you freeze?

BambiOnIce80 · 14/01/2020 15:22

Thanks for all the good lucks ladies 🍀🥰

I'm home now and stuffing my face with brownies and drinking green tea 🍵😋 14 eggs collected and I'm pretty delighted with that ☺️ It means we are doing the split cycle that I was hoping for, so it's a massive relief 😌

Congrats to all the day oners on your embie news! 🤩 Grow embies, grow! 🤞🏻🤞🏻🤞🏻

Chooklass · 14/01/2020 15:33

Congrats @BambiOnIce80 !! I was thinking of you when I was in this morning! (The waiting room seemed super busy!). My day 6 progress scan went well and they think I'll be ready for EC on Monday or Tues 🤞
