@Feline123 I had to just take mine in the evening, don’t think it specifically has to be done at the same time but I’d try and aim for similar if you can.
@Rovera12 I had a pessary too, don’t worry!
So happy everyone’s ECs went well!! I’ve had a few days of moping but I’m taking back control today...I’ve written a letter for the clinical review meeting on our case tomorrow afternoon - does anyone know if they do this for everyone? We went in today and it seems there have been various errors - But part of me wonders if I’m clutching at straws and just looking for reasons why it hasn’t worked?? I’m going to attach it here so if anyone can give it a scan I would be most grateful! I’ve booked an appointment to see Jonathan Ramsey in London, he’s a sperm specialist but at £280 for 45 mins I hope he’s worth it 🙈 has anyone heard anything about him before? Xx
Hi
First of all we would like to make it clear that we are not looking to ‘point fingers’ or blame anyone, but we have a few questions that we would like looking at.
We were referred to yourselves in 2019 after Sams sperm analysis showed zero sperm. He has had various tests which showed he carries 2 CF genes. The assumption was made that Sam has no vas deferens, which means he cannot ejaculate sperm. We would like to know why, at this point, he was not offered a scan or examination to confirm that this is the case?
Sam had SSR done 30th October 2019. We were informed that 3 vials were collected and frozen, there was a good amount but motility was limited. We were confused after this call so Megan called back and questioned what was meant. Megan was told that 2 vials were moving normally and 1 was not. This was not the case and we are upset that we were misled. There is no record of this call and we would like to know why? Megan can provide her own phone bill to prove this call took place. If we were aware of the poor quality of this sperm we could have looked at other options prior to starting treatment. We are not the experts, you are, and we look to you for guidance. We do not know the right questions to ask, we do not know the options available and it is only after researching after our awful news on Saturday that we feel very let down. We would like to know why we were not offered a sample freeze and thaw?
Megan had her egg collection 10th January 2020. 14 eggs were collected, with 9 being mature. It appears that once the sperm had been thawed, it was not moving at all suggesting they were dead. We would like to know why the eggs were still injected with this sperm, and why we weren’t given the option to freeze the eggs or just inject a few of them? It means 9 eggs have now effectively been wasted. Someone took it upon themselves to make this decision without consulting us.
We received the news of no fertilisation on Saturday, with confirmation on Sunday. We were given no other information meaning Megan continued with her progesterone when she should have been advised to stop. We would like to know why the clinic had not been in touch? We only managed to speak to someone because we went in and asked face to face.
Again, we do not wish to place blame and we understand some things are unavoidable. However, we are frustrated that our only NHS funded opportunity at ICSI has been handled this way. Ultimately, we feel certain decisions have been made throughout the process which have resulted in reducing our chances of success.
Key for us at the moment is how do we move forward from this, and what are our options?
We would appreciate these points being raised at our clinical review meeting, taking place tomorrow (14th January).
Kind Regards
