Hi all,

I can't see a thread for Dec/ Jan yet - maybe because a lot of clinics shut over the holidays - but mine doesn't! Anyone else out there starting in December and want to support each other? This will be my first round so I'm pretty nervous! X

I have my first lining scan tomorrow - wish me a nice and thick lining! I'm hoping that might FET might be the end of next week 🤞🏼

BambiOnIce80 · 13/01/2020 17:55

I think you're absolutely right to raise questions @Meganlouise1988. Even if they followed protocol, they need to explain this and if they didn't follow protocol then someone needs their arse handing to them. If this is your one funded NHS cycle and they've ballsed it up then I'd definitely be expecting them to fund another one by way of apology. The only thing I'd suggest in addition to what you've drafted is to get in touch with your NHS Trust's PALS department (patient liaison service) and send them a copy of this letter. PALS are there to be your advocate and help get you answers, so it's worth getting them involved.x

Good luck with your lining @HJF84 🍀

Meganlouise1988 · 13/01/2020 17:58

@BambiOnIce80 forwarded it to them too! It just doesn’t make sense to me but maybe that’s me grieving...onwards and upwards! Hoping you get good news tomorrow xxx

Rovera12 · 13/01/2020 18:01

@Feline123 yes I was given two antibiotics which included doxycycline. I am to continue my estradiol Tablets tonight of 4mg daily, folic acid and the pessaries.

Rovera12 · 13/01/2020 18:09

@BambiOnIce80 well written!! Can I add that at the meeting tomorrow don’t take it likely with them, make sure u make them understand they made a few errors that could have been controlled(reason being that i work in a very delicate clinic). A patient has every right to their treatment.
Also it depends on their response tomorrow, I will say contact PALS.

jcurve · 13/01/2020 18:45

@Meganlouise1988 I think that’s a really well written letter - to the point. I would remove the “not seeking to blame anyone” intro as that’s very definitely what you need to do, to get another round funded.

I had my final scan - I’m booked in for egg collection on Thursday. I have definite needle fatigue at this point so pleased that stage is nearly over. My hydrosalpinx hasn’t gone away but I have a good lining (14mm) and it’s not leaking fluid so they are thinking of still doing a transfer which has been a bit of a mental adjustment as I’d just gotten used to the idea of freezing everything! Fingers crossed it all happens.

Kellyprt1 · 13/01/2020 18:45

My trigger shot Is tonight. Only 2 on my right and few on my left but there still worried about getting to the left
Hopefully they do. Wed is EC. Good luck all . Please tell me the big bloated belly goes down after lol

Feline123 · 13/01/2020 18:46

@Meganlouise1988 that’s really well written, I hope you get some answers and they help you with the next step. Keep us updated with how you get on. Fingers crossed for you.

I’ve taken my first lot of antibiotics but I’ve emailed the nurses to ask about specific times for the next 3 days as it says one tablet, twice a day and I don’t remember what times she said to take....just to take with food, but not dairy products!

Just taken my first lot of crinone gel...again wasn’t as bad as expected, then I walked around for 20 mins with my ‘ivf playlist’ lol as always with something new in this process, I’m worrying I haven’t done it right!!

Something I wasn’t expecting after EC is that I’m feeling really emotional... even though the nurses reassured me 5 eggs was a good number I just don’t believe them! I’m so scared I’m not going to get to ET....I’ve already had a cry!! The not knowing is horrible.

Best of luck for EC tomorrow @BambiOnIce80 (hoping it was you that said it was your turn tomorrow!) and anybody else that’s having it done soon. Honestly the thought of it was far worse! I had sedation and remember it all and it was absolutely fine.... I was nervous beforehand but the sedative was great lol by the time I went in, I wasn’t nervous at all!

FlapJackered · 13/01/2020 18:46

@MeganLouise1988 well done lovely, that is a great letter and definitely worth pursuing.
I went to a seminar from Dr Ramsay and spoke to him afterwards about my DHs issues and he is a lovely and very knowledgable man. Definitely worth seeing him for advice.

@Rovera12 that is great news! You must be really happy with that. Fingers crossed you get lots fertilised. 🤞🏻

@BambiOnIce80 the clinic have since called back to say the doctor is not worried about the fluid 🤷🏼‍♀️ I wonder if it is just the drugs that is causing it for some reason. 🤞🏻

Nmvasey · 13/01/2020 19:40

@feline123 @41trying @Rovera12 all good progress from EC today! Keeping everything crossed for super fertilisation over night 🤞🏻

I had scan today and mine have had a kick up the bum following increased dosage so I’m triggering tonight and EC Weds 😬. @FlapJackered I felt the same last week, some of mine have near enough doubled in size in 5 days so fingers crossed yours get a wriggle on too.

Was anyone given sleeping tablets type sedatives to chill you out and get a good sleep before EC? Wasn’t expecting to receive those.

Feline123 · 13/01/2020 20:37

@Nmvasey I didn’t get a sedative but now that I had one for EC, I would have loved one...I’ve never been so calm lol but I slept really easy anyway as I had to stay up late for trigger the night before!

Nmvasey · 13/01/2020 20:40

@feline123 did you find today Ok? What time are you expecting a call tomorrow?

Feline123 · 13/01/2020 20:51

@Nmvasey yeah it was honestly fine! I’d been told EC isn’t that bad but I didn’t believe it! The worst bit was waiting around for it because I didn’t know what to expect, but the actual procedure really wasn’t bad at all. I had a little bit of pain, but more like uncomfortableness than anything and so the nurse gave me a bit of gas and air, but even if she hadn’t have done I’m pretty sure that would have been bearable. I remember the whole thing and was so surprised by how quick it all was!
I think I should get a call in the morning.... I’m finding this waiting worse than the EC!

UnicornPuff · 14/01/2020 07:18

@BambiOnIce80 good luck with EC today.

Everyone who had EC yesterday, I hope your updates are filled with good news and dont make you wait too long!

Nmvasey · 14/01/2020 07:27

Good luck @BambiOnIce80 thinking of you today

Lily999 · 14/01/2020 07:40

Good luck @BambiOnIce80 and keeping my fingers crossed for high fertilisation numbers for the girls waiting for the phone to ring this morning!

FlapJackered · 14/01/2020 07:45

Good luck @BambiOnIce80 🤞🏻

FlapJackered · 14/01/2020 07:49

I have just read there are some recent studies that show with MFI less abstinence before EC is better for DH. He was going to allow 3 days before but now I am wondering if he should wait and just do 2 days?
Argh I don't know what we do?! The clinics normally suggest 2-5 days no? We haven't really been told.
habnab.wordpress.com/2013/11/06/how-many-days-abstinence-yield-optimal-sperm-values-before-an-icsi/

Lily999 · 14/01/2020 08:19

Hi @FlapJackered I also thought it was 2-5days, but our information pack says 2-3 and if I think about it it's said to BD every second day over the fertile window so we will go with 2 days.

41trying · 14/01/2020 08:32

Morning ladies!
I had my call from EC yesterday. The collected 3 after they remove the layer on egg to do icsi 2 were viable to inject and one of those fertilised. As there is only one th4y have booked for transfer tomorrow. Still have to wait until 8am for dreaded call to make sure it is still dividing. Fingers crossed alday today again.

Minster2012 · 14/01/2020 08:47

Brilliant news going round here & that’s a great letter @Meganlouise1988 I hope the review meeting goes well

Good luck for others with EC today and awaiting those phone calls, I remember being the most strsssed about the calls so hang on in there! Any scans today?!

MissHoney85 · 14/01/2020 09:01

Had the call, out of the 10 eggs they collected 8 were mature and 5 have fertilised 🙌 They will call tomorrow morning to let me know how they're doing and if they will transfer tomorrow or Saturday. Eek!

Rovera12 · 14/01/2020 09:41

@BambiOnIce80 good luck today 👍.
@Meganlouise1988 I hope ur meeting goes well today.

Minster2012 · 14/01/2020 09:55

That’s awesome @MissHoney85!! 🥰 fingers crossed they keep going!! Well done!!

Good luck @BambiOnIce80 xx

Lily999 · 14/01/2020 10:09

Great news @MissHoney85, how come transfer can either be tomorrow or Saturday? Is today already count as day 2? And then Saturday transfer is day 6? I thought it can be either day 3 or day 5, but then my infor is wrong.
@41trying it must be a very strong little embryo, will be thinking of you! At the end it is usually the strongest one winning at natural conceptions as well :)
Who else is waiting for phone calls this morning? Is it you @Rovera12 and @Feline123?
