Hi all

There was already a thread for people cycling in October that i wanted to join but canny find it anywhere.

Im about to do my 6th (jeez) cycle of ICSI.
I already have a 4 year old DS from cycle number 4 and we decided we would try for a sibling.

Im currently just about to ovulate (getting the flashy smiley face on OPK) then i will start stimming on my next period at the start of October.

I had an awful cycle last November (my 5th) where i only got 2 mature eggs and non fertilised. This was because the wrong dose of drugs were given at the start of stimming.
So, with this slightly in the back of my mind, im still optimistic for a better cycle this time Smile

@LucyLucyT Congratulations, so exciting!! Hope you have managed to sleep again. Can I ask what symptoms you had, I know everyone is different but I am going crazy. I am so happy for you

@Bailey2017 Congratulations on being PUPO! How are you feeling? Brilliant you have 6 frosties, hopefully you won't need them for a very long time though x

LucyLucyT · 10/11/2019 07:33

Thanks @Bailey2017! My clinic don't do blood tests, seems that a few don't. I'll be having my scan at 8 weeks (seems so far away!) on Dec 2nd. No doubt I'll end up doing a couple more tests in between.
I'm afraid I'm a bit rubbish at keeping my own secrets! My work colleagues know what I've been up to a few of them know the outcome. Obviously they know it's very early days and things are by no means certain. Our close family are also up to date hehe. In hindsight I should've tried to be quiet but that's just not me!

@Dusky7 this time, at about 4dp5dt I got some abdominal pain after walking..over 2-3 days that progressed.to abdominal swelling and lots of burping! I rang my clinic and we both agreed it was likely a late onset of OHSS, I had read this can happen with BFP, which was the case! It's all settling down now, hence my panic about whether I was going to get BFN, but so far so good it seems xx

fool11 · 10/11/2019 08:12

@LucyLucyT congratulations. Really happy for you.

@Bailey2017 how are you feeling after you ET? Would you have 2 put in if your clinic offered, said you can have two put in? I’m getting paranoid about all the risk factors for babies when twin pregnancy..google just doesn’t help...

@Mseddy hope all goes well for you tomorrow. What time is your ET?

Bailey2017 · 10/11/2019 08:29

Thanks @Dusky7 I have read that the success rates are slightly higher with frosties so I'm trying not to get to excited with this fresh transfer.

@fool11 thank you... I've just been experiencing abdominal cramping sometimes. Other then that I've been fine. I will try my hardest not to test!

@Dusky7 I'm exactly the same! I'm probably to open sometimes, but that's just me. My work don't know though, as they knew on my first cycle that failed and it was horrible trying to stay strong when inside I was crying.

fool11 · 10/11/2019 09:09

As have no previous experience..just want to ask, do you still need to do the jabs etc before FET? or is it easier..from taking meds point of view..

On what day can you test?

My work, family doesn’t know we are doing this..I just can’t imagine go through all the ‘I’m sorry’ if not successful..they didn’t know last time I was pregnant and then had a MMC, it’s painful as it is , couldn’t face it ,talking about it or know that they are discussing it at work ..prob just me being paranoid again..

Dusky7 · 10/11/2019 09:36

@Fool11 I'm the same, I used to mention it to a few people but now hardly anyone knows, no family (my mum specifically told me not to tell her when I do it and anything about it a year ago).

FET is so much easier, everyone's different obviously but I go on the pill for about a month to get control, then Buserelin injections for 2/3 weeks, Progynova tablets and Cyclogest, I do the HCG trigger too but clinic said don't have to. Mine say OTD 14 days with ET being day 1 with blastos, used to be 12dp5dt, I know some are 10, varies so much.

@LucyLucyT silly me, I'm getting muddled, I didn't know what was OHSS and what was 'normal' symptoms either, I am clutching at straws.

@Bailey2017 my DD1 was from fresh, I know a lot of BFPs from fresh, what have you got planned for the 2ww? X

Bailey2017 · 10/11/2019 09:47

@Dusky7 I've already had a week of from egg collection, so I'm only off for another week. Which I'm glad about. I'm seeing family/friends and going on some short winter walks. I have a dog, so she helps me get out! Other then that I will be having some good sleep! And googling like hell Confused

Bailey2017 · 10/11/2019 09:50

@Dusky7 good news re the fresh Smile

fool11 · 10/11/2019 11:27

That sound pretty complicated @Dusky7 😊..was hoping there would be no jabs involved..short fresh cycle seems more simple 10-12jabs if no other problems..then EC and ET if any suitable..simplifying here
.didn’t appreciate that you still have to take so much meds for FET, which makes me think if I would want to go through this again, if not successful..The idea was just to try this once, to give us a closure and move on with our lives if it doesn’t work, but not sure how I’ll react tomorrow. Obviously I don’t even know if eggs made it to day5, but need to prepare myself for various scenarios..I’m not good at quick decisions making..I always need time and look at things from different angles.i won’t be able to do it in 20min appointment..

no idea what OTD is

Mseddy · 10/11/2019 12:06

Wow there was alot to catch up on :)

@LucyLucyT congrats on your BFP being stronger, so happy for you! We sound similar when it comes to secrets! Everyone at my work knows, partly becuase of the nature of my job, and partly because I can't hold my own water! Egg collection is at 1330 tomorrow, we get a phonecall in the morning telling us how the embryos are doing. My alarm went off this morning and I flew out of bed thinking it was them ringing us. I'm starting to get really nervous!

I can't remeber who else is having ET tomorrow but good luck!!

Bailey2017 · 10/11/2019 13:13

@Mseddy best wishes for tomorrow, is this your first cycle? I'm one week in front of you, I had mine last Monday (4th). Do you know how many egg folicles you have on each ovary? I've just had a phone call from my embryologist and they managed to freeze 8, I thought it was 6! I'm still in shock! Increasing my meds 2nd time round obviously worked well for me.

Mseddy · 10/11/2019 14:38

@bailey2017 yeah this is our first cycle trying for baby number 1. I had 7 follicles at my last scan before egg collection but they managed to get 10 eggs so I obviously grew a few more. Last I heard we had 6 fertilised so hoping a few of them have made it to day 5!

Bailey2017 · 10/11/2019 17:56

I'm sure they have or they would have let you know. We have similar numbers to you in our first cycle and 3 made it to day 5. They froze 2 but when they come to thawing one didn't show any signs of life so we ended up using our last frostie. Good luck for tomorrow. Its horrible waiting. I have to admit I'm much more relaxed having already gone through it.

LucyLucyT · 10/11/2019 18:23

Ahh good luck @Mseddy hope it goes well!
When I had my first ET I was worried it would fall out when I stood up 😂 but don't worry it'll be all tucked in nicely!
I found the poking and prodding to get through the cervix a little uncomfortable but it's really not that bad to be honest.

Thanks for the good wishes, I feel quite a bit happier for now, I'm sure I'll get more nervous nearer to the scan again but I'm going back to work on Tues so hopefully that'll be a distraction!

Mseddy · 10/11/2019 20:04

@LucyLucyT strangly everytime I've had a smear or anything similar the nurses always seem to want to tell me how perfectly situated my cervix is. I've always found it a horribly odd comment to make, until the last swab I had and the nurse commented how straight forward my egg transfer will be. So now I'm happy about them all telling me about my "textbook" cervix, and I'm hoping for not much poking and prodding tomorrow! Mind if they get me pregnant, they can poke and prod as much as they want!

LucyLucyT · 10/11/2019 22:03

@Mseddy that does sound good!
My first transfer was tricky because my cervix is slightly skewife!
The second one, it was very tightly closed so my consultant had to use a smaller catheter to encourage it to open a little bit!
I think the good thing about the transfer, and I presume this is the same in other clinics, is that your partner can be there, was important to me so he felt part of it.

Jem01 · 10/11/2019 23:44

Hello everyone, can I join? I'm about to start 3rd cycle of FET). I’ll start taking Progynova from tomorrow and have a scan week after next.

fool11 · 11/11/2019 07:52

@Jem01 welcome. Hopefully this time it will work for you. Fingers crossed.

@MSeddy good luck today. It’s nerve racking..I have my ET at lunch time today and nervous. We won’t know if any made it to day 5 until we get there. And I still need to made decision if one or two, so confused what to do..worried if I’ll go for two how it could effect them, if successful. Although rates for successful pregnancy are close to zero in my group age, still not sure I want to take that risk as I’m sure quality of my eggs will be not great..

@Violet180 hope you are better and you’ll have some good news today x

Dusky7 · 11/11/2019 08:37

@MSeddy and @fool11 lots of luck to you both for today x

@LucyLucyT I have an introverted uterus too, makes transfers really tricky, once they had to put the embryo back in the tank as couldn't get it in right, that was fun!

@Jem01 third time lucky for you, wishing you lots of luck x

Dusky7 · 11/11/2019 08:38

I am 99% sure I had period pains last night... I am so scared!

Bailey2017 · 11/11/2019 08:41

Hi @Jem01 welcome to the thread. Hope all goes well with your scans.

@fool11 what does your husband think? Or are you doing it alone? If this fresh cycle doesn't work, I'll be wanting a double next time. Let us know how you get on today xxx

Mseddy · 11/11/2019 08:57

@fool11 good luck. Mine is lunch time too. We get a phonecall this morning telling us about our embryos before we go in. I'm jumping out my skin everytine my phone makes a noise. Ignorance is bliss sometimes. We don't get the choice, we will be a single transfer. A few weeks ago if have fought for a double, but a friend of mine just miscarried due to twin complications and I've come across two complicated twin pregnancies in work recently which have both resulted in poor outcomes. So I'm talking that as a sign for me that 1 is plenty.

@Jem01 welcome. Fingers crossed this is the cycle!

@Dusky7 try not to be scared, it could have been anything. It might not be your period

fool11 · 11/11/2019 09:07

He was thinking two , per previous discussion with doc, however didn’t know previously about the risk factors. Now both confused. I just wanted to do this once with no embr. freezing, give it a last go and then draw a line..but now not sure, think would rather do one, and see what happens later, freeze rest if any left/good. I know stats and chances are really slim to get pregnant at all at my age, so I know doc will say to do two, but does it really give me better chance..not sure, as nobody can say what quality my eggs will be, at 44 prob not good..

Hope you are ok @Dusky7

Dusky7 · 11/11/2019 09:14

@fool11 I had previously always had 2, apparently the difference of them taking is only 2% more, apparently... I am 41 and was advised to have one because of possible complications of twins, it is such a minefield though isn't it, I still sway towards two if I'm honest x

fool11 · 11/11/2019 09:25

It scares the hell out of me..not thought of twins but of complications, if we were extremely lucky to get pregnant, I would still go through harmony tests at 10w to see if all is fine etc..what would I do if they found one is not developing correctly, risk factors to other one etc etc..not sure I want to take that risk.
