Hi all

There was already a thread for people cycling in October that i wanted to join but canny find it anywhere.

Im about to do my 6th (jeez) cycle of ICSI.
I already have a 4 year old DS from cycle number 4 and we decided we would try for a sibling.

Im currently just about to ovulate (getting the flashy smiley face on OPK) then i will start stimming on my next period at the start of October.

I had an awful cycle last November (my 5th) where i only got 2 mature eggs and non fertilised. This was because the wrong dose of drugs were given at the start of stimming.
So, with this slightly in the back of my mind, im still optimistic for a better cycle this time Smile

@fool11 that's lovely that your daughter is so excited! Bet it felt nice telling her.
My due date is 13th July, when's yours?
Yeah I think I can feel it, some days more than others at the moment but apparently that's normal at this stage. It's only a small feeling, mostly when I'm sitting forward.
I told my midwife I'd stopped folic acid and he didn't seem worried about it but I know there is no harm in continuing it. I'm just taking vitamin D now.

@41trying hope you are well :-)

fool11 · 17/02/2020 14:02

Official due date is 29 July however consultant recommends to deliver around 38w, so mid July coz of age, placenta, and my daughter was born very small, they will monitor it, I will have a scan at 28,32 and 38w so I guess they will decide what’s best for the baby based on scans.

41trying · 18/02/2020 17:14

Afternoon both, so day 1 of DR today, feels like I was injecting yesterday ha ha.
I have also booked acupuncture for Sat morning, will give anything ago at a moment.
How are you both getting on? Anymore milestones?

LucyLucyT · 18/02/2020 22:31

Ahh glad you've got started @41trying how long does this bit take?

@fool11 if you are more likely to need to deliver by 38 weeks we may end up being quite close!

No particular milestones for other than 20 week scan on Monday, think I'll be getting gradually more nervous, hopefully everything is developing okay! I'm a bit worried I might be developing pelvic issues, since yesterday had pain in the pubic bone area, will see how I go over the next few days then discuss with the consultant when I see next week. It's not too bad but I had a few friends that ended up with pelvic girdle pain and know it can become quite difficult! Otherwise feeling reasonably well :-)

41trying · 18/02/2020 22:36

Glad to hear your well other than pelvic issues.
This DR can take 7 to 14 days, last time was 14 which is just a pain. But hey ho it has to be done. I never knew what to expect on DR before but at least this time I do.
Let us know how you appointment all goes

fool11 · 19/02/2020 06:35

Morning, same here, not much happening, just waiting for 20w scan and getting nervous about it. Hopping it will be all fine. Told my work on Monday as tired of taking holidays for all my appointments since we started the ivf process..they were ok, some genuinely happy, boss was already asking how long will I be staying, when I’ll be finishing and that I ‘hid’ it well..didn’t want to get into discussion with him, didn’t tell them about the ivf, constant worries etc so just left it there. But quite a few mentioned if I have to be monitored as I’m old..lovely..I guess something I need to get to used to..

Hope the pelvic pain will go away @LucyLucyT, is it because of the baby pushing on the organs?

Hopefully the DR won’t take full 14d..after DR then you’ll start the stims for the ovaries stimulation? Do you have scans during the DR? I’m not good with the needles, pain so acupuncture out of question for me but I know many people find it relaxing and I think many ladies here on mumsnet mentioned that they are doing acupuncture, I guess whatever can help a bit counts. Let’s us know how you are getting on.

fool11 · 24/02/2020 07:01

Morning @41trying @LucyLucyT how are you both doing?

Is it your 20w scan this week @LucyLucyT? Hope all goes well.

How are you finding the jabs @41trying? You are on stronger medication this time, aren’t you? Any side effect?

LucyLucyT · 25/02/2020 10:00

Morning, yes had my scan yesterday, everything seems to be as it should be. Head and legs seen to be slightly out of proportion at the moment but all within normal limits, they don't seem to be worried, but I still let myself worry about it! I think there is time for it to change and settle out.
I have to go back again next week as the squiggler didn't want to get into the right position for one view of the heart.
Saw the consultant, she's asked me to take aspirin, said it's a bit late but might be worth taking still to reduce risk of pre-eclampsia. Otherwise everything seems to be okay thanks!
How are you @fool11? When is your scan? Have you already seen the consultant, sorry I've forgotten.
@41trying hope the meds are treating you well xx

fool11 · 25/02/2020 11:10

Hi @LucyLucyT..that's great that the scan was fine and all is ok..baby has still 20w to grow/change so if still within normal limits i'm sure it will be fine. But I understand that it might make you a bit worry..from experience i know that you just want to hear 'everything is perfect as it should be' and the slightest difference does make you worry. The worry bit doesn't seem to go away..always something to worry about ..at least you will get to see the baby next week again. Have you started to look/buy any baby items? pram, car seat etc ? one mum at my dd's school was saying that she deals with lots of suppliers from china, and because of the coronavirus all the supplies are on hold and delayed deliveries so they expect by june/july they will be huge shortage of stuff made in china (most stuff, even baby stuff is made there unfortunately) as factories are closed..i have most of the things, big things like pram, cotbed etc after my first one but need to get a new baby car seat for the little one. I'm doing ok, was feeling sick last weekend and got some painful ulcers in my mouth, couldn't eat, drink, even drinking water made me cry, i was in agony, it's a bit better now, but i also get nose bleeds every morning. I'm still waiting for a letter from hospital about my 20w appointment, can't book anything until i get that letter, which is really annoying.

hope you are well @41trying.

41trying · 25/02/2020 17:09

Hey ladies, I'm glad all is going well with both of you. I bet having the scans are nice.
I am still DR day 7 today, expect AF today or tomorrow but I bet it will be late like last DR which is frustrating.
I'm in a group for this cycle but its busy busy so not as nice as the Oct one was, but still speaking to both of you on here in lovley.

LucyLucyT · 25/02/2020 20:49

Pleased to hear you are okay @41trying I remember last time your AF was slow to arrive, hopefully it behaves better this time!

@fool11 sorry to hear about you not being that well last week, that doesn't sound very nice at all!

I haven't bought anything myself as yet but had a cotbed and "nexttome" cot coming from my sister. I think you are right in what you are saying about stock from China, they are saying it's really going to affect Christmas if it goes on much longer. I need to get sorted with a pram/travel system pretty quick I think!
We also need to get our house rewired, need to get our bums in gear!

LucyLucyT · 03/03/2020 20:21

How's things @41trying did AF arrive as expected? Hope so!
@fool11 did you get your scan date?

41trying · 03/03/2020 21:30

Hey @LucyLucyT, how are you doing?
Nah, she was late but I have my DR scan in Thursday to see if I can start stims, I have a feeling I will have to go back as I'm still bleeding.
@Fool11 how are you doing?

fool11 · 04/03/2020 06:52

Good morning, I’m well, thank you. Just really tired, I’m up a lot at night, can’t sleep so feel exhausted by 5am when I need to get up for work. I still haven’t received a letter from hospital re my 20w scan, which should be next week. Called them again and they keep saying wait for an automated letter, really stupid, they don’t understand people need to make arrangements, I can’t just pop out for a scan during my lunchbreak..

Did you have your scan this week @LucyLucyT? Was baby in right position? Could they measure what they needed? How are you getting on with the pregnancy ?

That’s annoying about the AF being late..always the case when you want things be just right on time so no delays. Will you be on the same drugs as before or have they change it completely? Hope all goes well tomorrow @41trying.

Have a nice day.

LucyLucyT · 04/03/2020 14:54

Good luck @41trying hope it's not long for you to get started on stims.

@fool11 I'm surprised you don't have your scan date yet, that's mad and can understand you feeling frustrated by it.
I'm just about to leave for my repeat scan, fingers crossed all okay.
I'm okay mostly, pelvis is mostly okay but now getting hip pain at night and in the morning, I sleep with a pillow between my knees but read it might be worth trying to get something to stop my ankles crossing over so going to try that. So yeah sleep isn't great for me either! I've also always been someone who gets things on their mind and then struggles to get back to sleep, annoying! The night before last I started to get anxious about coronavirus and feeling like I need to stockpile, I was trying to tell myself to calm down but there is something about those early hours of the morning that doesn't allow for that kind of thinking! Think it doesn't help that I work with patients who have respiratory illness and just nervous that in the coming weeks/months it's going to be harder to distinguish what's affecting them.

LucyLucyT · 04/03/2020 16:14

The baby was in a better position, all seems to be okay!

fool11 · 04/03/2020 16:26

Glad to hear all went well today @LucyLucyT.

I called the hospital again and luckily some nice lady answered so told her that I still don’t have the appointment..she told me to wait and then she booked me in for next Wed. So annoyed, I kept calling for the past 3w and woman who answered just kept saying wait for a letter. I think they didn’t have files updated as she asked me my due date and then she booked it in, over the phone. Unfortunately as it’s quite late now, all early appointments are fully booked, only midday available which is not great as by the time I’ll get to work I’ll need to go back for the appointment and then not enough time to get back to work (takes me 3.5h every day to travel)..sorry, will stop moaning now, just frustrated how disorganised they are.

I’m also worried about the coronavirus and must admit I’ve been buying few things..my supermarket is already out of stock of any antibacterial products , but I’m only buying stuff which can’t go bad and I would buy anyway...

Must be nerve wracking for you to work with people with the respiratory problems. People keep saying it’s not that bad but I don’t trust them, they don’t have any data how it would effect pregnancy and the baby..

fool11 · 05/03/2020 17:04

How was your scan today @41trying? Can you start your stims?
Hope all is well.

41trying · 05/03/2020 19:38

Hey both,
Exactly what o thought, lining not thin enough, so have to wait a week and go back, so annoying.
I will be having different meds, gornal f and add menopur high dose, which is different to last time with a nice added 800 quid

fool11 · 06/03/2020 06:53

Oh, sorry to hear that @41trying..that is annoying and expensive. I think the hardest thing is constantly waiting for something..

Oldandsad · 07/03/2020 12:16

@fool11 glad you are doing fine. I was looking at your posts as we are in a similar age group. Just wanted to share with you a fact: I went to ACU at Guy's Hospital to have a second opinion, I spoke with a different consultant, not Dr Grace, and she told me that not a single patient of their unit aged 44-45 ever given birth! She said: a few got pregnant but all miscarried. I was not brave enough to say that I know (virtually) at least one woman who did. Do not know what to make of it. Do they follow their patients' pregnancies? I wish you positive scan and easy pregnancy.

fool11 · 07/03/2020 12:42

Hi @oldandsad..I’m shocked. Obviously I haven’t given birth yet, hopefully it will happen in July..I’m having my 20w scan on Wed..my very close friends friend gave birth to a healthy boy at 45 last year, ivf , she was also with a doc Grace..that’s how we got her details... Did you have a private appointment or nhs one? I know there is a fair bit of consultants there and maybe they don’t know all the cases but it’s still really surprising what she said. Once you get your BFP and have your scan around 6w you are officially discharged from them so it kind of depends on whether people let them know about the outcome but after our 6w scan doc Grace specifically asked to keep in touch and keep her updated. I’m really sorry about your experience, doc you spoke to obviously doesn’t have a clue about the data (do you know her name?), real shame. We were obviously warned that chances are almost zero but she clearly said during our first appointment that it’s not impossible..she was very confident.

Oldandsad · 07/03/2020 13:05

@fool11, it is Dr Kopeika. Did you hear anything about that doctor? I liked the idea of personalised care, so I thought I'll give it a try. Obviously, your situation is much better than mine, I have low ovarian reserve, but to dismiss any successful pregnancies and even births! And she did not say "my patients", she said "patients of our unit", suggesting other consultants' patients as well. It was all fine before that point, I was given my 1% chance (which I know), was swayed towards donor eggs, but I am doubtful now I want to work with a doctor who gives me incorrect or incomplete information. The reason I mentioned it now is because I received a letter today following my consultation, where this fact was specifically mentioned again. So it was not a slip of the tongue or my misunderstsnding.

Thank you for your reply! Once again, wishing you easy healthy pregnancy!

fool11 · 07/03/2020 13:48

Thanks @Oldandsad. Yes I’ve seen her details on their web and seen her around whilst waiting for my appointments. I’m really surprised about her approach and understand how confusing that must be for you. We had a completely opposite experience , never got an official letter about the consultation from dr grace but I think there was no time for that as I only had few days to decide if we want to go ahead..but no once she said they dont have any live birth at my age..that would really confuse me as I know they do..she even showed us some power point presentation of their data , specifically my age group..and she was no trying just to get us on board if you know what I mean. Wish you all the best. Hopefully you can find some clinic that has experience and you like x

41trying · 12/03/2020 15:48

Afternoon ladies, I hope all is well with you both, I bet you have nice baby bumps now.
I had the go ahead from clinic to start stims this evening, talk about DR taking forever. Provisional EC w/c 23rd March.
