Hi all

There was already a thread for people cycling in October that i wanted to join but canny find it anywhere.

Im about to do my 6th (jeez) cycle of ICSI.
I already have a 4 year old DS from cycle number 4 and we decided we would try for a sibling.

Im currently just about to ovulate (getting the flashy smiley face on OPK) then i will start stimming on my next period at the start of October.

I had an awful cycle last November (my 5th) where i only got 2 mature eggs and non fertilised. This was because the wrong dose of drugs were given at the start of stimming.
So, with this slightly in the back of my mind, im still optimistic for a better cycle this time Smile

Evening ladies, DH and I have finally had time to chat about everything. We are going for a follow up appointment to see what they say. In the heart of hearts I dont think I cam give up quite yet

LucyLucyT · 01/02/2020 20:09

@41trying glad you have had time to talk it through. I don't blame you, but understand it's a big decision to make especially with the expense you are going to for it. You just have to do what is right for the pair of you. I'm wishing you all the best whatever happens, perhaps let us know what you decide if you are happy to.

@fool11 appointment was okay thanks, he said my iron was high which I think can be a risk factor for gestational diabetes, fingers crossed it doesn't go that way but I am overweight so it wouldn't surprise me!

fool11 · 02/02/2020 06:37

Did they do a blood test for your 16w appointment ? I thought we are only going to see a midwife, she will listen to a heartbeat, do a urine test and blood pressure..I don’t know much about gest.diabetes..does it affect baby in any way? Would you need to take some meds? Hopefully it won’t get confirmed x

Pleased to hear you’ve decided to go for a follow up appointment @41trying, keep your options open, give yourself some time off maybe and see how you feel a bit later..as Lucy mentioned, it’s a tough decision to make as you’ve been through a lot, emotionally, physically and financially...do what feels right ..wish you all the best and keep us posted , if you can x

LucyLucyT · 02/02/2020 08:09

@fool11 sorry he was just feeding back on the results from my booking appointment. You're right I just had BP, Doppler and general chat about how I am on Friday :-)
Don't think there will be any meds, I was taking pregnacare when I had those bloods and now only taking Vitamin D so maybe it'll have settled again, I think it was only a little bit high. Got my consultant appt in 3 weeks so can ask more then.

41trying · 04/02/2020 21:18

Evening ladies, I hope you both are well!
Can I ask what supplements you both took? Trying to get a list of questions together as our appointment is Thursday.

LucyLucyT · 04/02/2020 23:16

Hi @41trying I hope you are doing alright all things considered. I was taking folic acid as you'd expect and a generic version of pregnacare from Wilko. I didn't take anything else that I can recall. Good luck for your follow up appointment xx

fool11 · 05/02/2020 06:29

Hi at @41trying, I was taking pregnacare conception for many months as we were trying naturally (I was taking it when I got pregnant 5y ago, obviously it didn’t work this time..), when we started the ivf I only took boots folic acid and a higher strength vitamin d, I didn’t take anything else as there was no time to prepare for the ivf ..(it was a very last min decision for us to try ivf , we saw consultant and I had 4days to decide if I want to try ivf or not as was expecting my period)..she didn’t recommend any supplements apart from folic acid I’m afraid, only said usual don’t drink/smoke , which I don’t anyway, be healthy..I didn’t know anything about the it starts with the egg book, improving egg quality with supplements/diet etc, only read about it here on mumsnet.. (not sure it would help anyway at my age..). Hope your appointment goes well.

LucyLucyT · 06/02/2020 13:49

@41trying hope your appointment has been useful today x

41trying · 06/02/2020 16:14

Afternoon Ladies!
We have been for our follow up and even though I had a AMH of 20 and AFC of 11, they didnt match up to response of drugs and only 3 eggs collected. They will change drugs still with DR on day 21 this month and has recommended Q10 to start taking straight away.
Suppose now is another waiting game for a few weeks. They were really good TBH, so we are going for one last round.

fool11 · 06/02/2020 16:18

Pleased to hear that @41trying..will you be on a long protocol or a short one? Have my fingers crossed for you x

How are you doing Lucy?

41trying · 06/02/2020 16:23

@Fool11 long again, higher and different meds.
How is everything with you, how many weeks now?

fool11 · 06/02/2020 17:10

How long does the average long cycle take? A month or longer?

I’m well, thank you (just tired, have a stye, third time in last 2w and bad heartburn..but all is good) 15w, have 16w midwife app next Friday. Counting weeks till 20w scan hoping it will be all fine..

41trying · 06/02/2020 17:36

How exciting!
It roughly takes 6-7 weeks depending on lining and folicol size, but it's what the recommended for me as long got 3 eggs last time

LucyLucyT · 08/02/2020 18:00

Sorry for the slow reply @41trying glad you've got a plan and I really hope this is the cycle that'll work out for you. These long protocols are so different to what I did, takes some patience!

@fool11 I'm okay thanks, just had a week off work and trying to get more active, mostly walking at the mo, but more than I was doing! Nausea has mostly gone now which is good. I've got my 20 week scan in 2 weeks, it's exciting but I'm also trying not to think about it too much as then I start remembering that it's an anomaly scan, fingers crossed all is okay.
I think I'm starting to feel some movements now but it's hard to be completely sure!

fool11 · 09/02/2020 08:37

A week off work sounds amazing..glad to hear you are well. Hope your 20w scan will be all fine, all these scans are exciting but stressful. I didn’t feel any movements with my daughter till I was about 22w but she was born really tiny,, this time I think I’m already feeling some movements, it’s like a weird tingly sensation under my ribs area, left or right side, it comes and goes.

41trying · 11/02/2020 17:56

Evening ladies I hope you both are well.
I've been for consent signing and DR long protocol starts 18th Feb. Off we go again, higher dose and different meds.

fool11 · 12/02/2020 10:37

Hi @41trying, I’m well, thank you. Just recovering from a horrible cough and a cold but otherwise all is good.
Glad to hear you are starting next week. How are you doing?

How are you doing Lucy?

LucyLucyT · 12/02/2020 18:24

@41trying pleased to hear you have a start date, I can imagine it must be nerve wracking but with any luck your specialists have got the right combination of drugs for you and you'll have more success. Are you feeling okay in general?

@fool11 sorry to hear you have been unwell, never fun! I live in Sussex and this coronavirus outbreak is a little close for comfort, my office is nextdoor to the ward where cases would go if we had it in my town. I'm seeking advice on what to do if we do end up with an outbreak as I see patients with respiratory illness all the time. Would be a nightmare for me but also my partner with his Cystic fibrosis.

Otherwise I'm mostly okay at the moment thanks, feeling generally normal. Starting to feel movements a little more each day, well at least I think I am! It's reassuring but kind of weird as well hehe.

Either of you got valentine's Day plans? I keep thinking we should do something as it should be our last child free one! But we're not usually that fussed about it.

41trying · 12/02/2020 18:34

Evening both
@fool11, sorry to hear you have been unwell, I hope you feel better soon

@LucyLucyT I am ok thanks, luckly the last 2 weeks have flown by, I hope the next few will aswell.
Cant believe our clinic has also put prices up and cost of meds from last time 1625 to 2330, crazy really, but hey ho, we decided another round it is.

fool11 · 12/02/2020 20:21

I work in central London and travelling on train , tube with lots of Chinese people (many wearing masks) which makes we really uncomfortable..not sure if they are protecting themselves or just landed)..we supposed to have a client visiting our office from China next week which I wasn’t happy about but luckily they’ve just cancelled because of coronavirus issue, as they called it, phew.
We have no plans for the Valentine’s Day, I grew up in a diff country , we didn’t have /celebrate Valentine’s Day so whole celebration is strange to me (my husband is very happy that I don’t want anything 😄). I’m gonna be caking a cake for my daughters 5th bday and also have midwife app on Friday.

Can’t believe they’ve raised prices by so much..that’s almost 40%! Unbelievable that they can get away with it. Fingers crossed your body will respond well to this combo/strength. Have you started taking your extra vitamins?

LucyLucyT · 12/02/2020 21:10

Blimey that's quite a price rise! I'm guessing you've paid upfront but I read something about Asda doing a cost price fertility drug programme, I was surprised to hear it but it still seems to be the case.

@fool11 I think that given what's going on a lot of Chinese people are getting discriminated against so I guess it's easier for them to wear the masks, it's also much more part of their culture. I've been to Japan a couple of times and saw it a lot, it's seen as a way of being polite to others when you have a cold but obviously at the moment it's also people wanting to protect themselves. I know what you mean though, I'm definitely more paranoid about it than I would've been in the past.

Hope your midwife appointment is okay, you'll get to hear the heartbeat :-)

My partner and I first "met" 16 years ago today, it was chatting online at first, we count our anniversary as when we first met in person in April. So we'll probably be celebrating that more, over valentine's Day but I usually get him a card. He's away tonight though, booo!

41trying · 12/02/2020 21:16

I pay as I go, so get prescription then pay, first scanning then pay for cycle. I think there are a few places doing fertility payment plans so to speak. I thank ourselves lucky enough to have the money to pay.
Good luck with your appointments, keep us in the loop

fool11 · 13/02/2020 07:00

Morning, yes, I also heard that Asda takes private prescriptions and drugs from there are much cheaper. My clinic didn’t give me a prescription, they’ve just ordered drugs for me and it came from Fertility2you..I think.

Yes, people are getting paranoid. My close friend is Chinese, I see her every week and she had to cancel going to a conference as has a bit of cold, was worried how would people react..shame. Have you bought any maternity clothes yet @LucyLucyT ? My work trousers are getting tight, I had somewhere those expandable/maternity waist extenders, need to find them, they are great.

LucyLucyT · 17/02/2020 09:59

Morning @41trying @fool11 how are you both doing?

I'm onto week 19 now, in some ways it seems slow but then I realise I'm pretty much halfway and we have a ton of work to do on our house 😱

At work yesterday I used an ultrasound machine that is on the ward next to my office, it's used for helping taking fluid off people's lungs usually. I couldn't help myself, I know other pregnant staff in the past have used it! Think the little one was suck his or her thumb initially, I video called my partner so he could see too. Anyway didn't really know what I was doing but could definitely make out a babies head and spine and some wriggly arms 😊 I didn't want to look too carefully as we're trying to avoid finding out the gender. Got my first consultant appointment next week along with the 20 week scan, hopefully it'll all be okay.

fool11 · 17/02/2020 10:36

Hi @LucyLucyT..can’t believe you are already 19w! When is your due date? mid July? That’s great that you could use the scan and see the baby..I would do the same if I could..Do you feel baby moving? My little one is wriggling a lot. We told my 5y old yest and she was so excited about baby brother, kissing my belly, it was really sweet. Had my 16w midwife app which was pretty basic, listened to baby’s heartbeat which was lovely to hear. Midwife told me to take folic acid throughout.. I thought you only need to take it for the first 12w..also asked if I can book my 29w scam but apparently have to wait for a letter from hospital.

How are you doing @41trying? Are you starting tomorrow? Hope all goes well x
