Hi all

There was already a thread for people cycling in October that i wanted to join but canny find it anywhere.

Im about to do my 6th (jeez) cycle of ICSI.
I already have a 4 year old DS from cycle number 4 and we decided we would try for a sibling.

Im currently just about to ovulate (getting the flashy smiley face on OPK) then i will start stimming on my next period at the start of October.

I had an awful cycle last November (my 5th) where i only got 2 mature eggs and non fertilised. This was because the wrong dose of drugs were given at the start of stimming.
So, with this slightly in the back of my mind, im still optimistic for a better cycle this time Smile

I think I was measuring 5.8cm at my 12 week scan which on their little scale was slightly big possibly but they didn't comment on it.
Haven't seen the consultant yet, I'm seeing them at 20 weeks.
I'm only about 5ft2, my partner is 5ft8 so might not be too big, but I have a brother who is 6ft3 so you never know!
We're hoping to not find out unless it's really obvious at 20 weeks! We'd quite like the surprise :-)

41trying · 20/01/2020 12:29

Hi both
I am doing ok, glad you both are. I felt nothing yesterday at all since my cramping last friday. Today I feel a little sick on and off, but cant help think it's just the pessaries that are doing it. This tww feels like a lifetime away

LucyLucyT · 20/01/2020 14:18

@41trying I know it's so hard, but you'll get there. When is your test date again? x

fool11 · 20/01/2020 14:25

When is your official test day? One more week to go? I know some women take 2w off during 2ww but I preferred to be at work and busy so I didn’t have to think about it. Hope the time will pass quickly for you.

That’s great that you can wait till the end @LucyLucyT..I’m very impatient, I think my husband would be happy to wait and have a surprise but I said to him I’m finding out as soon as I can 😄. I’m sure they will make sure at 5m scan that you don’t see anything and they won’t tell you.

41trying · 20/01/2020 17:11

Hi both, glad all us going well.
I'm ok thanks, OTD is a 30th, not sure if I will be able to wait, but I will try my best

41trying · 21/01/2020 21:06

Hey ladies a question for you.
The dresses pessaries that I have been taking for a week were very waxey when wiping and now for the last 2 days nothing, any idea's????

LucyLucyT · 21/01/2020 23:32

Sorry I don't think I can help on that one, I used them as a suppository so only noticed waxy stuff when I went to the loo!
I doubt it means anything though, don't worry x

fool11 · 22/01/2020 06:59

Morning, I’ve tried both ways for a few weeks and then stopped using as a suppository as felt that I was more bloated when using them like that, although advantage was that there was no mess..I think they get absorb really well, when I put one in in the evening when I went to sleep and woke up 3-4hours later to go for a wee there would be nothing but the morning one if it was in only 30min before I got up then it was quite messy..longer in, less mess...I agree with Lucy, don’t worry about it...just make sure it’s in for at least 30min before u get up.

How is your nausea @LucyLucyT? Does your work know now? I didn’t tell them yet, dreading it as it’s mostly men and not very child friendly..

LucyLucyT · 22/01/2020 22:40

My nausea is not as bad but I still get some most days.

My work have known through the whole thing to be honest, I work for the NHS and I'm lucky that they provide some paid time for fertility treatment. I wear my heart on my sleeve and felt it was easier to share it with the people I'm with every day. I think as well everyone knew I was working extra hard to lose weight to fit NHS criteria for IVF. I've known we would need treatment for about 12 years so it's been common knowledge! My colleagues are mostly female though.

fool11 · 23/01/2020 10:22

That's great @LucyLucyTLucy that your colleagues support you. It's complete opposite in my office, with my first one i didn't tell them till i was 5m...although they all have kids and wives don't work (different world)..they just think it's inconvenience as they will need to find a replacement..
Also wanted to ask if you had a flu jab...i didn't want to have one in autumn, whilst doing the ivf (was worried that it could effect the result, chances, prob silly but just didn't want to have any jabs) and also didn't want to have one during first 12w..now thinking the flu season is almost over..do i need one , it's not going to effect the baby, is it? i know the nhs web says it's a dead virus etc..but still worried..

LucyLucyT · 23/01/2020 23:32

@fool11 the guidelines say that you can have the flu jab safely at any point in pregnancy. As I'm a nurse I had mine once I got a positive test, like you I held off during treatment. Think I was about 4 weeks when I had mine.
Some people get a little bit of an inflammatory response a few days later so might have some cold type symptoms or temperature but I was fine.
You can still get them, it's late but not too late. My boyfriend had his at the weekend at a pharmacy, was nicer than having to be amongst a load of ill people at the GP surgery! I suspect some pharmacies have run out though so ring first if you plan on getting one.

I need to organise whooping cough vaccine next, you can do that from 16 weeks.

Sorry to hear about your work environment, as much as I get stress, I have some very supportive colleagues. There is someone else that is pregnant in my team, just two weeks behind me, but I don't officially know about it! Think she'll tell people next week which will be nice, it wasn't straightforward for her either so I'm so happy for her.

I had my third antenatal Pilates session this evening, sooo relaxing!

@41trying hope you are doing okay x

41trying · 24/01/2020 17:18

Evening ladies. I hope you are both well.
Its 9dp3dt if its right to count from day afyer transfer?
No symptoms here really. Next Thursday still feels so far away tbh.
This is my last attempt as we said after abandoned cycle then another 2 EC only, that if we got to transfer this time, it would be clear go. I have been going through this since Sept last year and 20k, I cant do it again.
I am in a group where there is about 15 people in TWW and all testing within the same week. Not many have symptoms either, so I really dont know what to think.

Also as on long protocol messed up AF cycle and everyrhing I wouldn't have a clue when AF should arrive if it's going to.
Before when I had EC, AF arrived 2 weeks on the dot after both, any ideas?

fool11 · 24/01/2020 20:05

Thanks @LucyLucyT, that’s reassuring, I’ll contact my gp or local pharmacy. That’s great that you will have a pregnant buddy at work, my close friend was pregnant , just few weeks behind, we were planning things together but sadly lost her baby last week at 9w..really heartbroken for her, it’s awful how quickly things can change. I must admit I’m not doing any exercises, so tired in the evening I usually fall asleep on the sofa. Are you still taking any vitamins or and you stopped now folic acid?

Glad to hear you are ok @41trying..only one week to go..I’m sure it seems like ages..are you going to test early?
I was on short protocol so no idea how long protocol works..
I had absolutely no symptoms after ET, and remember consultant asking me during 6w scan if I had any symptoms, cramping, spotting ..anything after ET..I told her that I had absolutely nothing and she responded ‘good’ . I think so people do and some don’t, try no to compare, but I know it’s hard.

Have a lovely weekend both of you.

LucyLucyT · 24/01/2020 21:20

@fool11 that's really sad about your friend and probably a bit tricky to navigate for you at the mo. My colleague had a bleed a few weeks ago so I was worried things were going wrong as in my office we talk about my pregnancy quite a bit so it could've been really hard for her but thank goodness all was well.

@41trying I have also only done short protocol so wouldn't know when to expect AF, sorry. In my two week wait the only symptoms I got were to do with developing OHSS but that was to do with it being successful because of the HCG that my body had started creating. So I got really bloated suddenly which caused lots of burping! Lots of people have no symptoms though so there is still every chance. Given that it's your last try I know it must be extra stressful though, I'm really hoping in every way possible for you xx

LucyLucyT · 25/01/2020 00:31

@fool11 by the way, I was taking a supermarket version of pregnacare but now just taking vitamin D. I've basically stopped folic acid but still taking one every now and again to use up the pills!

LucyLucyT · 27/01/2020 22:11

How are you both doing @41trying @fool11 ?
Monday's are my day off, I've been so lazy! Need to get some energy going somewhere! xx

41trying · 27/01/2020 22:20

Hey @LucyLucyT, I'm not too bad thank you. How are you apart from having no energy?
OTD is Thursday for home test from clinic but I have an early response one to do tomorrow morning. I dont think 2 days will make much difference will it? Well I still have to test Thursday, so I'm just giving it a to tomorrow.
@fool11, how are you holding up?

fool11 · 28/01/2020 06:41

Hi both, i'm good, thank you, just very tired every day, longs days and always something happening, there is just no 5min in a day for myself..i'll stop moaning now, otherwise i'm good. Trying to control my eating as I've been eating way too much, so feel sick almost every evening. Have my 16w appointment in 2w time so hoping all is still ok..it's crazy how paranoid this ivf, pregnancy makes you..once you get through one hurdle there is another one waiting, constantly hoping all be fine. Told few people about pregnancy and heard some stupid remarks like if it was an accident..i know they meant it in funny way but i did't find it funny, i know i'm old at 45, but they have no idea i went through last 4y (they don't know abut the MMC and ivf), some people 'look at each other' and are lucky and give birth to kids like on convenient belt..they don't understand some might not be so lucky..anyway, need to move on..

I tested 11dp5dt, DET and only had a very faint line and i mean i could barely see it..so that's 17d after EC, i think few days can make a difference, even your OTD is earlier than mine as it was a 3d embryo, was't it? I have my fingers crossed, hope all goes well today x

41trying · 28/01/2020 20:29

Hey both
I did an early response and thought I saw the faintest of faintest lines, then did another 2 eith nothing on. I'm really not holding any Hope's for thursday and defo think I feel AF arriving. This is my last attempt.
I will still do clinic test on Thursday and let you know the outcome.
@fool11 today I will be 15dp EC so thursday will be 17, but still think it would have detected it by now.

LucyLucyT · 28/01/2020 21:42

@41trying I am sorry you are going through this, I know this is your last try. It's such a stressful process, as @fool11 said.
I will keep things crossed that that faint line you got was a good sign. I think I did my first test 16 days after egg collection and it was quite faint as well.

@fool11 sorry you've been getting silly remarks. When my first cycle didn't work people kept saying to me that they knew people who magically got naturally pregnant after a failed attempt. Thing is I knew that was never going to be possible in our case. I know people mean well but when you are full of hormones and emotions it's so easy to take it to heart.

fool11 · 29/01/2020 06:40

I’m really sorry @41trying, I know no words can make it easier. I still have my fingers crossed for tomorrow x

Thanks @LucyLucyT..I know I’m prob a bit overreacting , gonna blame hormones but we all know here on mumsnet how precious they are and how hard and extremely lucky it is to get to this stage so comments like that make me angry. And I know they only said it coz my age, they wouldnt say it if I was 10y younger, they even had time to ‘analyse’ when it happened with kind of comments if my husband got lucky on his bday..

How are you doing? Have you had your 16w appointment with midwife?

LucyLucyT · 30/01/2020 18:56

I'm okay thanks, finding work a bit tough at the moment, it's been quite busy and I'm so exhausted. I have a week off next week but already ended up with quite a lot to do in the week!

My 16w appt is in the morning.

Any news @41trying? xx

41trying · 30/01/2020 22:21

Evening both,
Af did arrive and test was BFN. I dont really know how I'm feeling at the moment. Clinic said I could have a follow up and counselling no strings attached but not sure what I want yet.
@LucyLucyT, I hope you appointment went ok
@fool11, look after yourself and try not to worry about others.

LucyLucyT · 30/01/2020 22:25

Ahh I'm so sorry @41trying I don't think there is any right way to feel just now. Give yourself time and see how you feel about the counseling, might be helpful for you. I really hope you are as okay as you can be xx

fool11 · 31/01/2020 06:33

I’m so sorry @41trying. Counselling might be useful, give it a go if you can, you don’t have to go back if it’s not for you. I didn’t do any after Mmc and feel it was a mistake..I struggled a lot. Look after yourself xx

Hope your appointment goes well today Lucy.
