@Helena112 I have a fairly short luteal phase. I didn't usually get a peak opk until day 16-18 and I'd start spotting from cd24. Given that implantation happens between day 6 & 10 it didn't leave much time for implantation. Clomid can help lengthen luteal phase (I guess probably by bringing ovulation forward) I did ovulate earlier this month (peak at cd14).

After doing my own research I pushed the consultant to try it as he was all set to send me off with "unexplained secondary infertility" and a price list for his private IVF clinic! I'm pretty certain we'll end up having ivf, planning to start in January, but I've got 3 months to try with 50mg of Clomid...

The human body is odd isn't it, I wonder sometimes if it's just impatience that pushes us to try all these things but very great full modern science has given us an option! X

Thanks all. Trying to read through the thread to catch up x

LaurenN23 · 19/10/2019 07:40

Looks like a few of us are in the TWW now, if my ovulation test was real 😂. I ended up in hospital yesterday!! I had to call 111 because I had really bad chest pains and my arm was really aching - never had anything like that before. I called them to see if I should go to see my GP because my new prolactin meds can cause heart problems (oh joy) and they ended up sending a bloody ambulance!

So I had loads of tests etc yesterday and waiting to hear more - I swear I will do literally anything for a baby, but my god it's testing ☹️

Fingers crossed for you all x

Goingbacktokansascity · 19/10/2019 08:32

@Helena112 31st is when af is due and will be 17 DPO, which is why I’m ever the optimist and going to do 24th (10 DPO) but let’s be honest; I’ll be testing 24th, 25th, 26th, etc 😂

Goingbacktokansascity · 19/10/2019 08:32

@LaurenN23 oh no that’s awful! Feel better soon. Nothing worst than a health scare

DobbieFreeElf · 19/10/2019 09:21

@LaurenN23 that's shit, do they think it was the fertility drugs?

LaurenN23 · 19/10/2019 10:23

@Goingbacktokansascity thank you!

@DobbieFreeElf yeah they think it might be! So frustrating as I think that's what's made me ovulate! (If the test is right)

seven201 · 19/10/2019 10:54

@LaurenN23 oh that is crap Thanks

Goingbacktokansascity · 19/10/2019 11:15

I’m hoping for a flurry of BFPs over the next two weeks for everyone

Helena112 · 19/10/2019 12:20

@LaurenN23 that's really scary! Hope your feeling much better today xx

@Goingbacktokansascity wouldn't that be lovely 💖💖

@DobbieFreeElf it's so annoying how much we have to push the doctors, fancy them just suggesting private IVF rather than offering clomid 😤 sounds promising that you ovulated on day 14, fingers crossed (all shows that sometimes our google doctor in fertility knows best! Most of the time!)

What preconception vitamins/supplements does everyone take?!

I read last night that extra Vitamin D could help prevent miscarriage and supports cell devision - another supplement I've added to my list 🥴 xxx

DobbieFreeElf · 19/10/2019 12:56

@Helena112 Yes, although I was very careful how I worded it, I said "I don't want to talk out of turn, as you're the expert and I only have a biology A level and my own research to go on, but isn't there an argument to try clomid to lengthen my luteal phase" I didn't want to get his back up busy telling him google knows better! Also he's a man so these things need approaching carefully! Grin

Only folic acid, I figure that we eat a healthy and varied diet, lots of veg and protein and always home cooked, I try not to get too worried about it Smile

seven201 · 19/10/2019 23:02

@Helena112 I take loads. I've had to upgrade my pill box! Only recently after reading it starts with the egg. I can't remember most of them as some have long complicated names. Bio-quinone (coq10), methyfolate (the natural form of folic acid - is absorbed better I think and also good for egg quality and I think miscarriage reduction), Myo-insotol, vitamin e are the main ones and about 6 more I think! I put dh on some too.

LaurenN23 · 20/10/2019 08:04

Guys!! This was my OvuSense chart this morning! I've had a spike for the first time ever. Looks like I have ovulated! 😊

This may be a very stupid question, but when does ovulation actually occur? Is it when the temp has spiked or when you get a positive opk?

Come on Clomid! Thread 2019 v3
Goingbacktokansascity · 20/10/2019 14:51

@LaurenN23 ovulation kit positive 24-36 hours BEFORE ovulation, temp rise 24 hours After ovulation! Xx

LaurenN23 · 20/10/2019 14:54

@Goingbacktokansascity ah so so helpful thank you!!!

Chichz · 20/10/2019 15:11

Hi ladies, get to take my first Clomid tablet on Tuesday - yay! - and wondered what time of day you all take it/have taken it?

Prescription didn't give any suggestion and I've heard conflicting ideas about taking it in the morning as opposed to at night etc...

X

DobbieFreeElf · 20/10/2019 15:31

@LaurenN23 exciting!

@Chichz I take it in the morning. I think some take it in the evening so that any symptoms occur over night.

Chichz · 20/10/2019 16:24

Thanks @DobbieFreeElf - my instinct is also to take it in the morning. Not sure why! Haha. X

Goingbacktokansascity · 20/10/2019 16:34

@chichz Throwing a spanner in the works I take mine at night before bed because I get super bad nausea!

Helena112 · 20/10/2019 16:59

@Chichz I take mine at 3:30pm (when I finish work) gives me horrendous headaches, I couldn't deal with them all day and worried about them keeping me up at night! My doctor said any time of the day is fine, as long as it's the same every day! xxx

Chichz · 20/10/2019 17:27

@Goingbacktokansascity and @Helena112 - thanks also, I can see that this is a divisive one! Grin Maybe I'll try a.m. for this first cycle and then adjust depending on the symptoms.

Presumably these horrible things only last as long as you're taking the tablets, and not the entire cycle?! X

Helena112 · 20/10/2019 17:32

@Chichz yes my headaches only last the 5 days I take the tablets Smile xx

CharlotteCx · 20/10/2019 18:00

I'm currently on CD28, went to the toilet an hour ago, and noticed some really light pale pink blood in my nickers it was just a little blob. When I wipe there wasn't anything on the tissue. Half hour went by and I checked again, no more blood in my underwear but a light pink tinge on the tissue. Just went to the toilet again, no more than the was in my underwear the first time I saw it and now nothing on the tissue. Could this be the start of AF? When AF usually starts it's normally a browny colour and abit more than that in my underwear. Any suggestions? X

CharlotteCx · 20/10/2019 18:03

Forgot to say I'm 14DPO, really sore nipples but the breasts aren't sore. I have been getting cramps too, so it is probably AF.

Helena112 · 20/10/2019 18:26

@CharlotteCx have you done a test?! xx
