Hi Ladies!
Hope you don’t mind me asking a quick question - how long were you ttc before clomid was prescribed?
I’m currently taking provera to induce periods but it doesn’t look like I’m ovulating so someone suggested clomid but I haven’t been trying a year yet so unsure whether docs will prescribe yet!
Thanks Smile

@AmyMaria2 oh that makes me feel better lol .. well we'll soon see! I'll keep u updated xxx

Seventytwoseventythree · 03/10/2019 08:10

@AmyMaria2 do you mind telling me - what’s that app in your photo above, where you can save photos of your OPKs over the month?

Seventytwoseventythree · 03/10/2019 08:20

@ForeverHopeful67

Hello! My impression from reading this thread is that the whole experience varies a lot depending on where you live.

My GP arranged blood tests and swabs after we have been trying for a year and then when they showed no ovulation she referred me to the Fertility centre at the hospital. There was a 4-6 month wait to be seen so we have decided to go private in the first instance. So for me on the NHS it would have been 12 months TTC, another 6 weeks to get the blood done (as they have to be done at specific times in your cycle and I have long cycles) then maybe another 6 months to be seen be the specialists and then clomid might have been prescribed I guess, so 17-18 months all in, something like that? But if your local waiting list is shorter then it would be quicker. It also depends on your age and GPs will investigate sooner if you are older.

I assume you must have already talked to your doctor about it if you are on provera - might be worth going back and talking them about it again?

AmyMaria2 · 03/10/2019 08:33

@Seventytwoseventythree yes it's called 'premom' it's good for keeping track of opks! x

Seventytwoseventythree · 03/10/2019 12:04

@AmyMaria2 thanks!

Hi everyone :)

Has anyone got any experience of taking Clomid without a bleed?

I took 50mg of clomid last month but sadly it had no impact :( my day 21 blood test showed no ovulation. Cycle day 30 arrived with no sign of AF.

My doctor suggested it was possible to start taking the 100mg of clomid without a bleed. And to count day one of clomid as cycle day 3. I've been taking 100mg since Monday evening.

On Tuesday I started spotting very so slightly, only when I wiped. Yesterday it was slightly more, and today it's turned brown :(

I know that it's not usual to take clomid without a bleed, I'm just looking for some advice and support, should I carry on with the clomid? or just stop taking it, I've emailed my doctor, she's said it's totally up to me?!

I also used the clear blue fertility monitor this morning, cycle day 6 and it showed a result of high!? Does anyone use the monitor while taking clomid?

Thank you all, sorry for the long post! Xxxxx

@Helena112 when I took my first pill this cycle I didn’t realise that my period hadn’t fully started and panicked. Lots of reading up and I saw that you can start clomid without a bleed (new studies and research) although lots of docs still haven’t caught up with this. The only thing you must do is ensure that you are defo not pregnant. I did a pregnancy test Tuesday to be on the safe side then carried on with clomid. Do a pregnancy test then carry on I’d say Smile

DobbieFreeElf · 03/10/2019 13:19

@ForeverHopeful67 I first went to the doctor one year ago yesterday. (1year TTC). First got seen at the hospital end of January. Had every test under the sun. Prescribed clomid (as a last chance before ivf) in August.

HeadintheClouds20 · 03/10/2019 13:53

Hi All,

I hope you don't mind me joining. I am due to take my first clomid tablet today and I'm wondering if you have any advice or tips about side effects.

Thanks!

Helena112 · 03/10/2019 15:01

@DobbieFreeElf thank you!! I really needed some reassurance!! 💖 Did you have a normal period after taking the clomid? Or did it make it extremely light ? Xxx

Goingbacktokansascity · 03/10/2019 15:09

@Helena112 mines always super super light. Hardly lasted 3 days this time! I’m hoping this is all our month 🤞🏽

CharlotteCx · 03/10/2019 15:36

@HeadintheClouds20 Hiya. I finished my first cycle last Saturday on 50mg, I didn't have any side affects at all just had two hot flushes in the middle of the night twice in a row but it wasn't anything at all really. Was shocked as read horror side effects so was dreading it! Good luck x x

HeadintheClouds20 · 03/10/2019 15:52

@CharlotteCx thanks for your reply. It's great you didn't have many side effects! Fingers crossed I don't either and I'm sure at 50mg they wouldn't be too bad anyway but there's so much scary stuff online. Good luck for the rest of your cycle. Hopefully it's good news for you!xx

CharlotteCx · 03/10/2019 16:32

@HeadintheClouds20 I think I might not have got many due to me taking Metformin for the past year? I'm not sure! But yes was very pleased. How are you feeling? And thank you! Currently on CD11 starting testing on OPKS yesterday but still all negative 👎 starting to panic but need to remember still only early in my cycle lol xxx

DobbieFreeElf · 03/10/2019 21:40

@Helena112 my period has been really light since my first miscarriage, as in barely a quarter filled cup every 12 hours for 3 days. It’s something. I can’t say I noticed this month was any lighter!

DobbieFreeElf · 03/10/2019 21:43

@HeadintheClouds20 Personally I feel that a lot of side effects are psychosomatic, I just try and get on with everything as normal! That said I do get really hot at night whilst taking it (but this also coincides with period which raises temperature) and I get crazy dreams! I don’t know whether that’s a side effect or just my crazy mind!

seven201 · 03/10/2019 22:08

My period arrived tonight. 3 more cycles before we start the ivf ball rolling. Feeling pretty crap about it right now Sad.

@HeadintheClouds20 I felt really down on around day 4-8. I took it before I went to bed. If that had been an all through the cycle side effect I would of had to stop as it really got to me. The other side effect I did have was it thinned my womb lining (showed up in a scan I paid for in cycle 2 (didn't have a scan cycle 1)) so had to stop taking it.

ForeverHopeful67 · 03/10/2019 23:13

@DobbieFreeElf @Seventytwoseventythree thanks so much for sharing your stories with me Smile

How are you getting on with your ttc journey now? Are either of you still on clomid or have you moved on to something else?

I’ve been ttc for 7 months now, but I know I’m still not ovulating, do you think it’s worth going back to the docs then and asking if they will prescribe clomid? By the sounds of things it can take a while to get to that stage so I don’t want to take it too long but also so scared to have an appointment and the doctor to tell me “ to just wait and see” as it’s so disheartening Sad

Seventytwoseventythree · 04/10/2019 08:31

Hi @ForeverHopeful67 I think it couldn’t hurt to go back to your GP even though you’re not at the one year mark. Have you had tests to show you’re now ovulating? If not then that would be a good place to start. Your GP can do those whereas they can’t prescribe Clomid (need a specialist). I went in with “it’s been a year, my cycles are really long, my temps OPKs etc are all negative, please can I have some tests as I don’t think I’m ovulating” and they were fine with it and super nice.

DobbieFreeElf · 04/10/2019 10:30

@seven201 Boo Sad

@ForeverHopeful67 TTC #2 over 2 years, 2 miscarriages (last one was Aug 2018) and no BFP since. Tests show no problems ovulating but I have a shorter luteal phase which is why we have 3 rounds of clomid to try before IVF. If we don't get pregnant these next couple of cycles we will be starting IVF in January, but obviously we need to do this privately as we already have one. Doctor wouldn't entertain referral until 3 miscarriages or 1 year, but I guess this is all geographical. My referral took 3 months and everything was really slow. A friend had been TTC for about 8 months and went to the GP in November (lied a little and said it had been a year) got referred, had all tests and was given IVF in January, and in her area she was offered up to 3 tries, so it really is so dependant on your area Angry

DobbieFreeElf · 04/10/2019 10:34

oh and DH swimmers count is on the low side (16mill) which is apparently the biggest reason for our TTC problems... Even though we got pregnant 2nd cycle with #1 and 1st cycle #2. All seems to have gone pete tong since that first mc.

CharlotteCx · 04/10/2019 10:58

Ladies, I'm now CD 12, I have been doing CB digital opks the past two days but has shown low fertility. I'm not sure if it's quite accurate though as I had a bit of EWCM last night & I checked my curvix which was high and soft 🤨🤨. Can anyone shed some light?? X

DobbieFreeElf · 04/10/2019 11:23

Keep going, it will either change or it won't. You can also see when you pop the stick out if you have had an LH surge as it's similar to the LH OPKs and has 2 lines, that will coincide with the solid smiley.

CharlotteCx · 04/10/2019 11:26

@DobbieFreeElf oh god every time I've pulled the thing that you pee on out it's always had two solid undeniable lines. Does that mean I'm in my fertile window? How comes it isn't showing up on the little screen as a solid smiley?
